How to Find a Gold Ring in the Attic…

I received a call the other day in regards to a lost ring in the attic…The young man told me he found me online when he was looking on how to find a lost ring in the attic. We discussed the search and I knew I could find his ring but it could be challenging.

We met up on Sunday and he showed me the attic and how he lost the ring and where…I got to work and thankfully it wasn’t summer as the temperature in the attic was comfortable,  it was blown in insulation so it’s like quicksand for ring.

After searching with my AT gold with the sniper coil for approximately 30 minutes I received a good target number of 65/66… there was his wedding band of 13 years just hidden inches into the insulation.

I love the hunt for the lost ring, you never know where its going to show up but when it does…There it is…A Smile!

Twice Lucky, Wedding Ring found in Kelowna.

January 2013,  Paul called me to assist with his lost wedding ring on his hobby farm, we were successful in recovering the ring. Today November 2014, Paul called me again to say that he had once again lost his wedding ring again while working in the Orchard and his wife was not impressed. He was raking the leaves and driving his tractor with his gloves on, he removed his gloves at four locations when he noticed the ring was missing. I detected the four locations where he thought it would be with no success, I told him I would grid the whole farm until I found it. After a couple of hours the ring was located by an apple tree in the Orchard. Another marriage saved, I told Paul I would book him in for next year.

The story about the ring was a nice one as the ring was given to him by his older brother…It was his brothers graduation ring, he gave it to him so that he could focus on school and graduate himself.

Lost Wedding Ring… Found Des Moines, Iowa

Austins ring AustinI found a white gold wedding band today for a young fella named Austin. He lost it while mowing roadside ditches this summer. When he parked the tractor he noticed his wedding ring was gone.

At one point during the day he had stopped to clean the mower out and figured he lost it there. His dad had an older metal detector so he went over the area with it and said he found lots of junk but not the ring.

So I had the day off from work for Veterans Day and we decided to meet up and see if we could come up with it even though it was brutally cold out with the wind blowing out of the north. When I started the search I found out why he had trouble at this site. It was at a crossroads in the country and it seemed that everyone who stopped at the stop sign threw some kind of junk metal into the ditch. I had many good gold signals that turned into pulltabs, pop tops, foil, bits of cans and other assorted junk.

Luckily some of the dead grass he had pulled from the mower was still laying there in clumps so it marked where he had cleaned out the mower. In one of those clumps I got another good gold signal, a 12-16 on the CTX3030 at two inches. There under the dead grass was his ring!

Glad I could help him out and he was very happy to have his ring back.

I received a call from Dara regarding her husbands lost gold wedding ring and his gold cross. Dara said her husband Dan was mowing and clearing some brush behind their home when he discovered his necklace was missing. Dara said Dan’s necklace had held both his gold wedding ring and his gold cross. Dara said Dan’s wedding ring and cross landed somewhere in the backyard when his necklace broke.

Dara said Dan was able to find his missing gold necklace the following day, but he was not able to find his wedding ring or cross. Dara said she had located « The Ring Finders » on an internet search.

Mesh Ring found in Surf at Del Mar, CA.

John called me while I was metal detecting near San Clemente, Ca.  He told me how he and his wife had taken their dog to Del Mar Dog beach Sunday for a run on the beach. His wife really didn’t feel like going but John persuaded her to go. The weather was perfect for a walk on the beach with their dog. The nice day was upset when John’s wife lost her Tiffany, silver mesh ring while throwing a ball for their dog to chase. It went directly into about one foot of water and immediately disappeared into the sand.

I would be about 45 minutes till I could get to the location, but there was still enough low tide to give it a try. I guess John called Tony Eisenhower , a fellow RingFinder . Tony contacted me and we both met with the information that John had given him. John was unable to leave work to point out the exact location, which is always a big help. Long story, short, the two of us were unable to find the ring before the incoming tide chased us out of the water.  I was not sure I could make it back Tuesday at the next best low tide, but after finding out that Tony could not make it. I went back as the tide was receding. I was worried that possibly somebody with a metal detector would find it and not return it to John, because he had posted the loss on Craig’s List with a perfect google map. Most people are honest, but there have been reports about people using Craig’s List for their own personal treasure maps.

When I arrived at dog beach Tuesday about noon there were no other detectorists on the beach. I started the grid search without the pressure of an incoming tide. Within 30 minutes my CTX 3030 gave me a nice solid signal and there was the ring. This part of the beach has a medium hard packed sand and the surf has been more or less calm. Even with these conditions, the ring had managed to work its way down about 5 inches in the sand in about 48 hours.  It is always an advantage to have the person that lost the item present to point out the location, but in this case John was unable to leave work. On the other hand, sometimes I get a little nervous when the person is standing there with that look of doubt and despair. It is all worth the time to see the smiles and joy when you return a sentimental ring. I did not get to see John’s wife when he surprised her with the good news, I know it was a special moment for her.

Lost Platinum Ring Found! Mequon, Wisconsin

P1060528The 29th of December 2013 was not a pleasant day for Marina. Temperatures were well below zero as she braved the elements to get in her daily run. Conscious her hands and fingers had shrunk from the cold, she stopped, removed her wedding band, and placed it safely in her zippered jogging pouch. Later, as reached into the pouch to retrieve another item, to her horror she realized it had come unzipped and her precious ring was gone. Frantically she retraced her jogging route but the ring was nowhere to be seen. To make matters worse, a snowplow passed over the area pushing mountains of snow into the roadside ditch.

I received an email from Marina the next day and arranged to meet her at the scene. Despite our best efforts in the minus-30 degree Fahrenheit cold and brutal winds, the ring was nowhere to be found. It seemed to have vanished. In all likelihood it was resting deep, deep under the snow and beyond the detection capabilities of my Minelab Excalibur. We agreed to search again in the springtime after the snow had melted.

The record-breaking winter finally gave way to springtime. As it relinquished its hold, I kept watching the receding snow in the roadside ditches in anticipation of returning to Mequon to resume the search for Marina’s ring. Finally, the time came to return. And sure enough, some 80 yards up the road from where Marina first discovered her loss, the wedding band and my detector greeted each other as if they were long-long friends; the snowplow had obviously pushed it down the road a lot further than any of us thought was possible.

A quick phone call with the good news made Marina’s day! And the subsequent smile on her face made mine!

I met James and Jasmine at their residence today to look for James wedding ring, and both Jasmine’s engagement and wedding ring.  James said after accidentally losing their rings in the backyard he bought a metal detector at Academy and searched for the rings. James said he didn’t have any luck finding them.

Jasmine said soon after she located  « The Ring Finders » on the internet.

I received a call from Danielle who explained she needed help finding her lost diamond wedding ring. Danielle said she had lost her wedding ring in her front yard while participating in some out-door activities.

11/04/2014

I made the short trip over to Katy, Texas today and met with Danielle at her residence. Danielle identified the area of her yard that needed to be searched and provided me a description of her missing ring.

I worked a quick grid search of the yard and on the second pass hit a good signal. I paused trying not to alert Danielle of the recovery. I walked over to grabbed the GoPro and set it up to capture the moment.
