Ring lost in car-Maurice, LA – Found

Carrie and I had just found a ring for a client and were packing our detectors up when we received a call for another lost ring. The location was actually on our way home. We headed out and were at our search site within 15 minutes. Lindsey said she was in her car with her wedding set in the console. When she removed the rings, the engagement ring fell on the passenger side floor and the wedding band on the driver’s side. She found the engagement ring but not the other. She was “very” pregnant at the time and could not do a serious search. We told her that we could not use metal detectors but would be happy to search. Carrie and I made a visual search with flashlights and just felt around where we could not see. Lindsey went to get a mirror when Sid located it, by feel, in a low spot under the driver’s side. The low spot had a plastic vent to bring heated/cooled air to the back seat. Sid was only able to get his hand in the spot after he removed the vent. After giving Lindsey her ring, we put the car back together and headed out. Thank you Lindsey for your generous reward. This allows us to continue offering our finding services.

Promise Ring Found In Claremont Horse Country

On Christmas day, I received an email from a hopeful mother, Diane whose daughter just received a promise ring right before Christmas. Her daughter Summer was devastated, and wasn’t sure whether or not to break the terrible news to her boyfriend, to go buy a metal detector and search for herself, or what the next step should be. Diane and I came into contact and although I was unable to make it Sunday night, I made the drive early Monday morning. Luckily, it was nearby and only 6 miles up the hill in Claremont, Horse Country. Summer didn’t know where the ring could be, but she narrowed it down to either being in the stall while cleaning her horses, or outside where she was photographing her new prized possession. I worried that one of the horses may have kicked the ring and we wouldn’t be able to find it. Since the ring is white gold, it is harder for the metal detector to pick up any signals. While searching in the stalls, the friendly horses nudged and kissed me, as they curiously watched the pursuit for the ring.  After turning up the sensitivity, I soon heard a faint signal. I scooped up a pile of hay, and there in the screen was Summer’s ring. She was overjoyed to see her ring once again, and I suppose Christmas came twice for her this year. I was glad to have made someone’s day, and was on my way.

Lost Go Pro 4 in Aulani Disney Resort Ko Olina Lagoon…FOUND!!!

This hunt began when I got a call from Alex at Aulani Disney Resort. He told me a gentleman named Christian lost his Go Pro 4 with all their vacation photos while paddle boarding in the lagoon. I told him I could be there around noon to look. While en-route I got stopped at the freeway entrance as President Obama’s motorcade was heading to the North Shore. Thankfully the wait was only 15 minutes. Not many route options on the island of Oahu. When I arrived I went down to the beach to get the locating data and to meet Christian. The lagoon was extremely murky from the high west surf and visibility was only about ten feet which is horrible in Hawaii. Alex paddled out to the area as I snorkeled out. The depth was about fifteen feet so I started my search. I bring my metal detector in case the camera gets covered in sand and silt. As I started my grid the Go Pro came into view lying among some rocks. I put it inside my wet-suit and continued my metal detecting for other lost treasure. This time I only found a tungsten wedding band, a pair of sunglasses and a few coins. Never know around here what you might find. Christian and his wife were ecstatic that I found their Go Pro. It was still on when I found it. Aloha to Christian.

River sensor recovered in December!

Masters student Alison couldn’t recover her water depth sensor in the Humber river due to the water temperature & depth.

On December 14 I took the plunge & after less than 30 min located her $700 sensor. She is now able to complete her Masters & re-use the expensive sensor.

Lost gold wedding band found in the snow, Port Moody, BC and Lost cell phone Found.

Christmas Eve day started out with a phone call from a young man who lost his cell phone while shovelling snow at his rental house in Port Moody.

He goes on to tell me that he thinks the phone was lost there and wanted me to search the area. I agreed and he sent me the location via google earth and I was on my way.

When I got there I searched the front yard then I searched the back yard and moments later I found his lost phone in around 4 inches of snow. It looked like the phone was in good condition and because it was frozen there was little water.

 

 

Then as I was packing up I got a text message about a lost ring and if i could help. I called the young man and he lost his ring the night before when he slipped on ice and his ring went flying. He searched that night but couldn’t find it.

It wasn’t far from were I was located so I headed out to help him. He was still at work and wouldn’t be able to be there to show me the area where he lost his ring so I asked if he could google earth me the location.

Amazing with the technology we have now to help us locate the area, it was a good thing I got there when I did, because after 20 minutes of grid searching I found the ring behind me on the road! It was bent a bit from being run over but it could be fixed. The lucky part for him was that the ring didn’t get stuck in the tread of someones snow tires and driven away.

Like may before him this young man didn’t tell his wife that he lost his ring, I’m sure he didn’t want to be in the doghouse on Christmas day.

Model Loses Ring During Photo Shoot .. Point Magu, CA. .. Sycamore State Beach

Cynthia called me, asking me if I was available to help find a ring lost in the sand at Sycamore State Beach, Point Magu, Calif. Her company was assisting a well known Italian photographer and model doing a photo shoot for Vogue Italia Magazine. It was not your average photo shoot. It was more like a movie production. This ring was actually part of props rented from a company that leases items for movies. There were about a dozen members of the crew and cameras and lighting set up everywhere. They were busy working, so one of the assistants showed me where they thought the model, Bianca had believed the ring slip off her finger in a 40 x 40ft area.

When I started my grid search, it was loaded with trash metal, nails, bottle caps, etc. normal for beach areas near fire pits. It was so trashy that I thought I might have to return with sifting equipment to find the ring.
Before giving up I put on my 6″ coil, reduced sensitivity, and eliminated discrimination (basically  all metal) so I could listen for a gold tone. After finding a couple nickels amongst two handfuls of bottle caps, I felt there was a chance to listen for low tones. Within a few minutes after making these adjustments to my Minelab CTX 3030 metal detector, there was slight low sound mixed with other trashy signals. Boom! A beautiful unique gold ring in my sand scoop.
Cynthia, Bianca and the others on the crew came over to thank me. Again, I heard the words that I hear so often  » We never knew a service like this existed » .. It was only possible because Cynthia was able to use the internet to find TheRingFinders.com. Someday we will be a household word.

Lost ring in Winter Park, Florida….Found!

Trev was playing a lively game of volleyball with a couple of friends when he lost his ring. As he swung at the ball—barely hitting it—he felt his ring slip off his finger. He immediately stopped and yelled « I lost my ring! » He and his friends spent the next two hours running their fingers through the sand hoping to find his lost Tungsten wedding ring.
Trev had only been married for two months and he was not looking forward to telling his new bride the sad news. As Trev continued to search, one of his friends Wyatt, decided to check on-line for some sort of help. And up popped theringfinders.com web site and they decided to give me a call. Two hours later I joined Trev by the volleyball court and he explained what happened. He was positive the ring came off right where he was standing, so I fired up my Whites DFX metal detector and started grid searching. Trev offered to do the digging so I handed him my digger/sifter and away we went. We found a number of coins and at every signal Trev was hoping he could uncover his lost ring. After 30 minutes and still no ring I decided to check the grassy areas along the sides and back of the court and struck out again. So I asked Trev to explain and to actually demonstrate his exact actions when he felt his ring come off. Even though he was sure his ring came off on his side of the court, I suggested we search the other half of the court also. And sure enough on the third pass I got a great signal and there was Trev’s lost ring in the sand.

Lost ring in lake…Casselberry, Florida…Found!

Tanae was relaxing on the dock with her two boys, enjoying the warm sun and the beautiful lake view, when all of a sudden her youngest son bumped into her. Normally this would not have been a big deal, but Tanae was fiddling with her ring and the innocent bump was enough to cause her to drop her ring. And as most docks are constructed of wooden lumber there are always spaces between the boards and invariably when something falls it will find one of those tiny cracks!
Tanae could not believe what had just happened and a feeling of panic gripped her heart. She tried getting into the water and feeling around but soon realized it was too deep and the bottom was very soft and full of mud and debris.
In her desperate need to get her ring back, Tanae searched the internet for someone to help and that lead her to theringfinders.com web site. She contacted me and we made arrangements to meet at the park. I tried to reassure Tanae that I would do my best to find her lost ring. I loaded up my van with my wetsuit, Tesoro Tiger Shark metal detector, scoop, towels and other gear and headed to the park. Thankfully it was a very warm, sunny day and even though the water was cold I was prepared to get wet. I arrived at the park and checked out the dock and water as I waited for Tanae. Not knowing which end of the small dock to search under I decided to check the depth with my pvc pole and realized that the bottom dropped off very quickly.
So when Tanae arrived and showed me the corner of the dock where she was sitting I was very thankful that it was towards the shallower end. I entered the cold water and swung the detector over the bottom close to the corner post. And there were plenty of signals—probably nails and screws and sinkers and such. (I should have taken my magnet on a rope to clear the area out first!) So I set about the task of scooping out the bottom debris and looking through each load—and on the fourth scoop–there was Tanae’s ring!
What an honor it has been to help this young mother get her sentimental lost ring back!

Lost Silver Ring in the Snow Found in Detroit Michigan

Sentimental Silver!

I’ve had an interesting and busy late fall in the Detroit area this year.
I received a call from the pictured young gentleman inquiring if I could find a lost ring in the snow. He is from Cali and was visiting a friend here and upon getting back to the friend’s place this beautiful silver ring slipped off his finger while walking up to the residence.
The ring was his mother’s who passed away a year ago and he was feeling overwhelmed about it being lost.
I set up the MXT and began the typical grid search in the area he felt most likely it was.
So as he went to run an errand I was left to search on my own and I dug up a piece of non ferrous junk that read as a ring but the sound was choppy from different directions, but I dug it up to get it out of my way.
A few more sweeps and a 1 cent 90’s read came thru loud and clear in about 5″ of snow.
He hadn’t returned yet so I went to warm up in the van with the ring.
When he returned I got out and as we walked to the area he kept asking did you find it? did you find it? and I was trying to keep a straight face as he reminded me of myself and the kids who are asking on road trips are we there yet ? are we there yet? So I said with a sad expression.. man I’ve been really bustin’ a move on finding your ring but…. as I shook his hand the ring transferred over to his and he about fell over with excitement clutching the ring close to his heart and smiling as he looked to the sky…..sensing his mothers happiness! and thanking me for making his Christmas memorable!

Lost White Gold Ring In The Snow and Ice Found in Ann Arbor Michigan

He Doesn’t Have To Ask Twice!

Got a call from a very talented wedding photographer stating that during a surprise engagement photo shoot that the ring got lost near a pretty, snow covered pine tree used as a backdrop. Well with snow all over in the area, someone tried to help and decided to melt the snow with hot water.
When I got on site I saw areas of ice that the ring could be in. I set up the MXT and started to grid the area and got random iron signals everywhere except this one area that came up with a weak but repeatable +8 and +12 ring at about 4″ deep. I knew this was an on edge good target from so many times before. So we started to chip away at it carefully enough to get the ice chunk out off the ground. I used my Garrett carrot which clearly vibrated a target in the chunk. So after some very careful ice chipping this gorgeous white gold ring revealed itself edge on just as I thought. I can’t describe in words the reaction of the photographer when the ring appeared, it’s just spectacular! And the bride to be? Just see the photo!
Now the groom doesn’t have to ask twice!
