Sid got the call from Aaron on Monday night. Aaron’s fiancée had dropped her diamond engagement ring in the muddy trail during an ATV ride.  She had stopped to clean the mud off her hands and the ring went with it. A few friends and a lot of searching, no success. We set up a meeting at the site for Wednesday morning. Long story short, Aaron, his friend Blake, Carrie and Sid all arrived late because of an uncooperative ATV and a truck brake caliper coming unbolted at 65 mph. We rode ATV’s  to the hunt site, a very muddy section of the trail. Getting at least one foot of penetration into the mud in most places we stood, the conditions were to say the least, challenging. The thick sticky mud had a suction like a Hoover vacuum cleaner. Finding pull tabs, crushed cans and assorted metal was quite discouraging. After an hour of hunting, Carrie took a break and perched on dry land bordering the trail while Aaron used her detector and pointer to continue hunting. He made a pass on top of a 1 foot deep wheel rut with no signal. Turning the detector sideways and passing it in the same rut gave a hit. Carrie checked on the reading from Aaron. She told him to check it out with the pin pointer. He located the source and actually saw the diamond on the side of the rut. One hour and some luck yielded success. Took quite a bit longer to clean the mud off the ATV’s, detectors, shoes, cameras, etc., etc. It was great to see the smile on Aaron’s face but would have been made better by seeing his fiancée’s smile after   receiving the news that evening. Thank you Aaron and Blake for making a taxing hunt bearable with your great attitudes and helpfulness. Thanks for the generous reward.

Lost Man’s Wedding Ring in Delaware, OH. “FOUND”

I received a call about a lost man’s tungsten wedding band. We had a couple of inches of snow on the ground. As he was cleaning off the car; he got some snow on his hand. He flick his hand to remove the snow but also removed his wedding band. His wedding ring flew into the snow. His searched but could not see any ring.

I started to search of the area with taking my first and second pass with no luck. As I started my third pass of the search area I got the tone that I needed. There was the ring hiding under a couple blades of grass. He was very happy to have the ring return back to him.

Wedding Ring Lost when ATV Adventure Goes Wrong.

02/18/2016

I was contacted by MVP Skeeters’ Baseball Player Travis Scott regarding his lost wedding ring. Travis said he and his wife (newlyweds) had been out on his ATV (4 wheeler) riding and  enjoying the nice weather. Travis said towards the end of the ride they crossed over a small ditch, and had gotten stuck. The ditch was deceiving in appearance and should rightfully be called a bog.

Travis said as they began to cross the water filled ditch the ATV sank and became stuck in knee deep mud. Travis said he dismounted the ATV and attempted to free it by lifting the rear-end out of the mud. Travis said he had no success and later used his truck and a tow strap to pull the ATV out of the mud.

Travis said a short time after getting the ATV stuck and cleaning the mud of his hands he discovered his wedding ring was missing. It was believed it came off in the ditch while he attempted to free the ATV.

02/20/2016

Travis and I conducted a search for his ring today and after a couple of hours we called it quits. The ditch was searched extensively with only a few aluminum cans and couple of pulls tabs being discovered. I was confident at the conclusion of the search, that his ring was not in the designated search area or beyond.

Travis was a go getter, right there in the mud, and it was obvious from the get go, neither of us liked to loose!

Lost wedding ring in La Jolla Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Mike was playing with his dogs in his yard when, after making a sweeping motion with his hand, his wedding ring flew off. After searching the area visually, then raking and looking again, he bought a metal detector to find it. After that failed to produce the ring, he gave me a call. The search area wasn’t particularly large, but, it had lots of trees, bushes, plants, grass, etc. It wasn’t even all that junky. Just a few ferrous and non-ferrous targets to investigate, but, after an hour and a half of changing coils, gridding and regridding, still no ring. I had Mike take my test ring and re-enact his motions. I even did it myself with the same general results. The ring should be in about a 10 foot square area. I went back over that area for the umpteenth time and found the same iron remnants of an old fence post that had been blasting my ears, but, this time after hitting it at a slightly different angle, I heard and extra little non-ferrous blip with my trusty E-trac. After scrapping away some leaves and running my pin pointer over the area, I found the target that had eluded us. It turns out that it had landed right on top of the old fence post base. That’s what was masking the ring signal. All good in the end. Mike was very happy, as was I. Pleasure to meet you Mike and thank you for the reward.100_1403 100_1404

We received a call from Kevin on January 3, 2016, Sunday evening. He had lost his wedding ring while taking Christmas lights down. The ring was very large and has 5 diamonds in it. Kevin was upset about the loss, but even more so because the diamonds were from him Mom. Kevin lives only about 6 miles away, but it was late so we made plans for Monday morning. Sid and Kevin both had to work, but Carrie met up with Kevin’s wife Kathryn to start the hunt. Kathryn showed me where the lights had been and the area where Kevin had rolled up and boxed the lights. Kevin had also blown the leaves in the yard and around the sidewalk and driveway area. The search area may need to be expanded. Our son James was off work so he said he would help. James has never used a metal detector before. After talking with Kathryn, I set James up with Sid’s detector and pin pointer to work around the driveway area. I went hunt in the front yard. I was checking the flower bed around where the lights had been in the bushes, but decided to check the yard area where he rolled up the lights first. Then would come back to the flower beds. Well, I turned around, took about one step and there I heard it, the sound of gold! I looked down and there it was laying on top of the grass, in plain sight. Only took a couple of minutes to end the search. I knocked on the door, and needless to say Kathryn was shocked that it was found so quickly!

Thanks to Kathryn and Kevin for the nice reward.

PS: James found his first pull tab!

Lost House Key – Found, Myrtle Beach, SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I received a forwarded text message through my daughter at about 8:30pm Christmas Eve from her friend Tiffany asking if I could help her friend Mistie find a lost house key. In the text was Mistie’s phone number so I called her. Mistie told me she was a pet sitter and had just taken care of one of her client’s pet and on her way to her car dropped the owner’s house key in the thick grass.

I arrived and met Mistie at the gated community about 45 minutes later and followed her to the house. She showed me the approximate location of where she thought the key was and about 5 swings and a minute later I had a good solid 65 on my AT Pro. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my pin pointer so I was sitting on the sidewalk feeling through the thick grass and found the key about 5 inches off the sidewalk.

Mistie was so relieved and excited to call the owners, who were on vacation in Atlanta, GA, to let them know their key had been found.

Merry Christmas Mistie and thank you for the very generous reward.

Lost Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring .. Westwood, CA. .. Found

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Laycee called me 11-3-15 four days after losing her diamond wedding band. It was custom made with 3 diamonds from her grandmother’s ring and the platinum setting was designed by her husband. « Irreplaceable  »
She could only tell me that it was lost sometime during the family annual Halloween party at her house.
After spending the last four days thoroughly searching the house and the backyard. Laycee and her husband Jacob discussed renting a metal detector to check the lawn and the planters. While searching online they came upon our directory of metal detector specialists. Calling me with a few questions about how service, we set up a time that I could meet them at the house the next morning.
I met them early as they both had things to do later in the day. We talked about what activities Laycee had been doing that may have caused the loss of the ring. It had been a busy day preparing for the party and doing hosting. She did remember showing her niece how to do cart wheels on the lawn..
I started on the lawn which was dried up, because we have a drought in So. Calif. with watering restrictions. The grass was sparse and they had searched it several times. The lawn area was only 40ft.x40ft. so it didn’t take much time to grid it with my CTX 3030. Just as I reached the last grid pass I heard a good signal, looking down in plain view, I could see the ring in the dried gray grass.
I went back to the house calling Laycee to the door giving her the good news. She was in shock, telling me that this was the happiest she has been in a long time. It was an emotional time for her, even as I left she was still amazed that it was not lost forever.. I love helping people find missing sentimental keepsakes.

Crystal beach ring recovered after 4 years

  • from Toronto (Ontario, Canada)

What a great story, a nice guy named Gary gave me a call who had lost a « Very » sentimental ring in his front yard 4 years ago. Gary purchased another similar ring a few year later but in his own words  » never quite fit like the original » ! He had placed his original College ring in his pocket while gardening and after a while forgot it was there. He started putting unneeded stones and debris in his pocket for lack of a better spot. When he was finished the job decided to reach in and cast it all away . He watched his ring in slow motion flying through the air and off into the grass. With the help from his wife and neighbors they tried to find the beautiful ring but11137095_1628121604131353_5417829166018249126_n unsuccessfully. 4 years later Gary asked me to give it a shot and sure enough after about 2 minutes I got a beautiful silver signal. The picture tells the rest of the story. Congrats Gary11952023_1628121570798023_1902969999873607761_n

Flying Gold Ring Recovered with Detector in Etobicoke Ontario Park

  • from Toronto (Ontario, Canada)

This lost ring flew off the hand of my latest Ring Finder client 75ft. Paul was wind milling his arms to keep warm at an Etobicoke park near Toronto when he felt his beautiful gold wedding ring fly off. He heard it hit his car then silence…… After hours of scouring the parking lot and adjacent grass into the night Paul and his wife found Ring Finders on the net and messaged me the next day. I arrived within an hour of the call and immediately started gridding the area where he thought it may have landed with my Pro series detector. I decided to do a peripheral search after an unsuccessful grid search of the area where it was assumed to land. Sometimes and most times I will find the owners rings the opposite direction of where they are thought to be. Rings can cover a long distance and then roll even farther than expected.  After about 25 minutes and about 75 ft away my detector got a clear Gold signal and as I moved away the grass and leaves the beautiful wedding ring appeared . I yelled over to Paul to call his wife…he asked why and I said….. so you can tell her I just found your ring! He was shocked!  Congratulations Paul and Sandra and thank you for calling me on Ring Finders.
