Brandon was enjoying the hot sun and warm waters with his family and everything was going great until the chain around his neck broke and a very special ring that was attached fell into the churning Atlantic surf! This special gold wedding ring was a gift that belonged to his deceased grandmother and something that Brandon cherished very, very much! He was heart broken and extremely upset with himself for not remembering to take the chain off before going into the water. (The best thing would have been to leave it at home or in his vehicle!). Allot of people think they will not lose their ring or chain because it has never just come off before and say to themselves, « What could possibly happen? ».

Thankfully Brandon was quite sure of the area where he was standing when he lost his precious ring! The following day I arrived just before low tide and marked out an area with my flags and began my grid search. Brandon and his wife watched for a while as I made my way in and out of the surf and I am sure they were anxious to see if I would uncover his ring. I dug a few targets here and there, the usual coin or two and a pull tab. Brandon was getting ready to leave in his vehicle to get their kids when I motioned for him to check out what I had just dug! Overjoyed and with tears in his eyes he confirmed that my last target was indeed his grandmothers lost gold wedding ring! With tears in my own eyes I said a silent prayer to thank my heavenly Father for helping me find and return Brandon’s lost ring!

Fifth Generation Ring Recovered in Calgary

He lost his fifth generation ring while walking/playing with his dog. After giving me the boundaries I went to work. It wasn’t until we expanded the boundaries that the ring was found. Watch the video below for the full story.

My husband Mykal received a very special ring from his father, on our wedding day last year.  It was in the family for 5 generations.  Sometime in May of this year, we were playing in the backyard with our German Shepherd.  He was throwing the ball to Max as he normally did.  At the end of the night, he took Max out in front of the house for a quick walk, as it was dark.  That night before bed, he realized the ring was no longer on his finger.  The next day we spent the entire day looking for it, both in the back and front yard, with no success.  Every so often, thereafter, we would walk with our eyes directed towards the grass, hoping to catch a shimmer of the ring against the green background.  Mykal almost gave up searching.  He kept saying that somebody probably found it.  Since we don’t live on a busy street, I thought that possibility was less likely.  I was convinced we would find it at some point, we just had to keep searching.  At the end of September, Mykals’ parents came over and asked about the ring.  Mykal replied that it was not with him (it technically wasn’t a lie).  Mykal knew that it was only a matter of time before his father would ask to see it, or encourage him further, to see him wearing it, at least on special occasions.  I decided to take it upon myself to do about of searching.  Not in the backyards, but on the internet.  If the ring was out there, I knew a metal detector would pick it up.  We were going to buy one from the store.  Since most people that buy metal detectors to find a ring, end up reselling it once they have found their lost item or after they have given up the search, I figured we should look into purchasing a used one before we go to the store.  I have never been on the Kijiji site before but knew of it and thought that it would be a good place to start.  I typed in ‘used metal detectors’ in the search bar’.  The first two posts were actual metal detectors (I was praying they included instructional manuals!).  The third post was titled, “TheCalgaryRingFinder.”  I was intrigued and curious so I clicked on the link and the brief description mentioned Evan and the service he was offering.  He would come to the place where you thought you lost the item, and he would search for it.  His reward for finding it, if he found it, was whatever you thought the value was for finding said lost item.  I thought this was an awesome deal! I spoke to Mykal and we called him right away.  Like a detective, Evan asked a series of questions relating to the ring;  where we last saw it, how long ago, the approximate area where we thought this ring could be located in.  He explained the process and told us he would come over around 5pm that same evening.  We were so excited!  Both at the possibility of finding the ring, but also at putting our minds to ease if we didn’t find it, knowing we did everything possible.  Evan arrived and went straight to work, after Mykal gave him an outline of the area where the ring could be.  Anxiously, I cleaned our home, waiting.  The sun started setting and the hope of the ring being found was slimmer and slimmer.  As it became completely dark, I was surprised Evan was still searching for the ring.  Mykal and I sat down in the living room and we said a prayer to St. Anthony (the patron saint of lost things).  We thanked God for everything we had our lives, especially each other and said that whatever God’s will is whether the ring should be found or not, we will accept it.  We are thankful and happy for our health and everything God has already given us.  Two minutes later the phone rang and Evan asked to see Mykal out back.  I started washing dishes and was hoping that Evan would say he would come back to continue his search when it would be light out again. Mykal walked back into the house and said to me, “It’s too dark now and Evan is going home.” At this point he waves his hand and shows off the ring and the biggest smile.  I nearly fainted and started jumping up and down in excitement.  I could not believe my eyes! I was so happy for Mykal and for Evan and for all of us!   I went outside to thank Evan.  No words can express the kind deed that Evan did for us; the time he took out of his day to search so diligently for something that meant so much to us.  The next weekend, we went to Mykal’s parents home for a Barbq and Mykal proudly wore his ring.  His dad put his arms around him and said, “The ring looks great on you.  I almost started to think that you lost it.” Mykal just smiled and gave him a big hug.

These are such special moments in life.  We shared this story with many neighbors, family and friends.  We hope to share this story with Mykals parents…sometime next year.

Lost Ring from the boat – FOUND!!!

Ryan is a patient man!  He called me this morning and explained that he was out on the boat yesterday at a popular place for people to hang out and he was throwing a football back and forth. All of a sudden he caught one that slightly jammed his finger making him flick his hand back and forth. When he did he felt his brand new wedding ring of a few months go flying in the saltwater. He explained that they had looked for hours to no avail and he really needed some help. I told him that I wanted to help but I had to work today but with the storm coming this week he definitely needed to find it sooner rather than later. I told him I would have one of a few people I routinely hunt with call him soon and hopefully they could help him. At lunch Ryan reached out and said he hadn’t heard from anyone so I told him to standby while I made a call. My Father in law had accidentally left his phone and my other buddy was working so I called Ryan back. He asked about renting a detector and I explained why that just wouldn’t work. I finally felt so bad that I told him if he could wait until after work and if I could get a pass from my wife then I would do it myself. Being the patient person he is, he waited for me to finish up the workday and I’m very glad he did. Ryan has a great boat and we headed out to the area. When we got there, he had done a great job marking where it came off and I made my first pass. There was a huge drop off and as I turned back I thought to myself that I hoped it wasn’t any further or I would need a scuba tank. I didn’t need to worry though because as Ryan looked on expectantly from the beach I heard a very clean gold tone. He was already smiling as I very carefully used my scoop to pull out his ring. He said that was exactly where he thought it was and he was amazed I was able to find it. Ryan was all smiles on the way back to the dock and I’m glad I was able to help.

Lost Ring in Gulf Shores, AL – FOUND!!!

To show you what a nice guy Matt is, all I need to do is point out that he drove his whole family 18 hrs one way from Wisconsin for his daughter’s 13th birthday and to enjoy our beautiful beaches here in Gulf Shores. He was getting ready to make the return trip soon but still had a few days to snorkel out in the Gulf. That’s when fate struck and he felt his ring come off while swimming. When he called me he explained that he had looked for hours but even though he thought he knew where it was, he just couldn’t find it. He told me that it wasn’t an expensive ring but it was very sentimental to him and I knew that I had to help him. I knew it wasn’t what he wanted to hear when I explained that it would be a day and a half before I could come but he trusted me and said he would text me Sunday morning if he still hadn’t found it. He did just that even though he had looked all day Saturday and even bought a fishing magnet that didn’t work. My wife and I finally got there Sunday afternoon and Matt quickly showed us where he thought the ring had come off. Matt told us that he had been to 21 countries with this ring and really wanted it back. I started my grid search and there were older coins everywhere and they were slowing me down. I finally asked Matt to make sure I was where he wanted me and he came out and pointed “just a little bit left”. As I turned back to the left I took one swing and got another target. When I pulled it up I smiled and told Matt that he had great directions. He was shocked when I handed him his ring. I am so glad I could cap off your vacation with a win and you and your family will have an awesome story to take back to Wisconsin.

Sesuite Harbor Dennis, MA Lost Ring Found and Returned

The exchange of vows, barefoot in the sand, had taken place on a Cape Cod beach just hours before I was called. All the guests had made their way to the toasting venue. When I arrived to search for a lost set of rings the wedding reception was in full swing and the toasting to the Bride and Groom had just begun. It was not Brigid or Sean’s ring but one of the guest’s, a set of engagement, wedding and anniversary rings that had been soldered together. Linda had participated in a “barefoot walk in the sand” and was putting her shoes back on when her ring set took flight and buried itself in the sand. The reception venue nor the local police department had a contact number for TheRingFinders.com. But one of the guests had met Eleanor of J&E Enterprise, Yarmouth’s metal detecting sales and called her for help. I, in turn, received a call from Eleanor for help as she was unable to aid in a search for the rings.

With the information I was given I was on my way to keep the enjoyment of a wedding in the correct spirit. I initially stopped at the Cafe’s main building only to find it closed for the day. I had been told the ring had been lost behind the Cafe, so I drove down the road to the beach. It also was vacant. I had no return call that I had made for further information when I remembered that there was a main outdoor dining area beyond the Cafe’s adjacent marina. I drove past several boat that had been pulled for the year and were ready to be racked. Then under a large tent I saw the reception celebration and the “Toasting” was being recited.

The DJ, at the tent’s entrance, knew I was coming and that everyone was waiting for me to show up and find the ring. He escorted me through the center of the tent with great fanfare. Then out of the tent to a sandy area ribbon-ed off so the ring would not be stepped upon. Linda was there and went through the antics of putting her shoes back on and how the rings were lost. Three passes with my detector and nothing. As it usually happened the lost object is not in the exact spot it is thought to be. I moved the search area from the initial area to about 8 feet away and my detector gave me the sweet tone in my ears, signaling the location of the ring. I carefully made a very shallow scoop and just missed the rings. I then saw the shine and picked the family of rings up and gave them to Linda.

Cameras started clicking, cheers from inside the tent took over the music that had been playing. What a joy and pleasure to be part of such a vibrant group that were gathered for a very special occasion.

Congratulations to Brigid and Sean and to Linda. And a Thank You to all those in attendance for making the night very special for each other. I have never seen so many smiles at any ring return I have been a part of. I must wish Brigid and Sean, Linda and Stephen and all other couples to have a long and happy marriage as I have for 55 years.

Lake,Alcohol & the Ring Flies into the Lake Grapevine, Texas

We got a call from a really guy named Jordan.  He let us know that the previous Saturday while on a family day at the lake.  Actually Jordan’s birthday.  A mistake that sometimes happens when alcohol is involved, tempers flaired and his sweetheart in a moment of regret took off her ring and just tossed it in the lake.  They searched for over an hour even though the water was only 2-4 ft deep.  We set a time to meet Jordan the next day at Lake Lewisville.  Jordan brought his wonderful 24 ft Pontoon boat,  he took on a short ride to the Island in the middle of the lake where he and his family liked to beach their pontoon and spend the day just floating in the lake.  Upon arrival I jumped in and began search asking Jordan where his sweetheart was sitting and what direction she threw the ring.  We always ask if the person who threw the ring is athletic or not because that can make difference how far the ring may have gone,  I made several passes and then Ellen my wife hopped in the water and began to search as well.  The both use Garrett ATPro’s and waterproof Garret Pro-Pointers.  Ellen wasn’t in the wate 5 minutes when she called my name, I looked and could tell from the look on her face she had found the beautiful ring.  I walked over and sure enough, the beautiful White Gold Diamond Ring sat beautifully in her scoop.  Jordan heard us talking and was shocked that Ellen had found the ring in less than 10 minutes.  After some congratulations and photos we had a wonderful boat ride back to the marina.

I got a call this afternoon in regards to a lost silver spoon ring that was custom-made for this young lady and other family members by their Nana who is 99 years old. I was on my way to Chilliwack for a search when it got called off so I headed straight to English Bay beach to help Kathy.

It was Sunday and it was a nice sunny day and it didn’t take me too long to get there and meet Kathy and hear the story on what this ring meant to her and how important it was to get it back. The fact that it was lost the same day I felt confident I would pull this out of the sand for her, it’s just a matter of doing a grid search to find it.  Kathy told me she was at the beach when a volleyball came towards her and she picked it up and threw it back to the players and that’s when her ring came flying off of her finger.

She told me that her hands were cold and the ring flew off with the ball towards the players, she and others search but could not find the ring, sadly. She called her boyfriend and he went online and found TheRingFinders. When I arrived I must’ve had three or four people come up to me and see a lady had lost her ring and I told her I was there to help that lady and they were very happy to hear that, so nice that so many people cared for this young lady and we’re all hope for I will find a ring for her.

It didn’t take long to find that beautiful silver spoon ring, it was nowhere near where Kathy thought the ring would be, it was almost where she was standing and that’s because the ring came off on the downward swing of the throw.

Lost family heirloom diamond ring in Atlantic Ocean, Ormond Beach, Florida….found with metal detector!

Jade and her family’s Labor Day get away to the beach started out great! They arrived at the beach early and got their things all set out and could not wait to get into the warm ocean surf. Everyone was enjoying the water even though the waves were a bit rough…still it was the perfect day to enjoy the water, sand and sun! As they made their way deeper into the water Jade’s husband noticed that Jade was wearing the precious diamond heirloom ring that his grand mother had passed down to his own mother and then she had passed it on to Jade when they got married! With the hope of one day passing it on to their son, Everetts, when he gets married. Jade was sure the ring fit snug enough to not have to worry about loosing it and as she pulled on the ring to show that it was tight…off it came and dropped straight into the churning wave tossed waters!

Shocked beyond belief she let out a scream and immediately everyone came to help her locate the ring! Even when knowing exactly where it fell into the water it turned out to be so much more difficult to locate then they had ever imagined! Hours passed and they drove to a nearby store to purchase a metal detector and tried it but ended up shorting out the headphones as it was not a water proof metal detector!

Meanwhile, Jade’s son Everett found « theringfinders.com website » on his phone and decided to call me for help. As I listened to what had happened and the fact that they were very sure of the exact location where the ring had dropped, I offered to come out right away and do whatever I could to help them. Even though the surf was rough and the waves were fairly big I felt that her ring would be where it fell even through to the next low tide cycle. I asked Jade what the sand felt like under her feet while they were looking for her lost ring…soft or hard packed? She said soft in some places and hard in other places. And with that info I knew I had to search ASAP and I could not afford to wait till the next days low tide. It was around 5:30 pm Monday evening and low tide was coming up at around 11:30pm and I determined to search under an overcast moon and trust that by God’s grace I would be able to find Jade’s lost ring before it sunk too deep!

Under normal daylight hours I am able to use small wire survey flags to mark the sand and then by lining the two rows of flags up I am able to back my way into the surf and use the flags to help me go out and come back in a straight line. Once I get out as far as I can safely go I then take two steps over and walk out keeping myself lined up just about four feet off of where I went into the water. But in the middle of the night on a dark beach there is no way to visually see my flags! So as I was passing the time waiting for the next low tide I walked across the Ocean Shore Blvd. to the Dollar Store and began walking the isles to see what I could use to mark my path and progress. Thankfully they had some Halloween decorations out and I came across some 8 inch long glow sticks! I was able to use the two glow sticks to keep me lined up and began my night time search about 10:00 pm and little by little I backed my way out into the dark waters as far as I could safely go and the two glow sticks worked like a charm!

Earlier in the day as I was waiting for it to get dark I detected on the dry sand just to see if anyone had dropped anything and I used up a couple of hours of battery life!!! Not smart!! Reason being as I only have one battery and it lasts maybe 5 hours total! I water hunt using the Whites TDI Beachhunter and hip mount the box and it works great! Normally that is about all I can handle when working in and out of the surf in the hot sun and fighting against the current and waves!

After an hour and a half of covering the main target area I noticed my low battery light had come on and my detector started making the usual odd sound. I felt I was really close to the actual spot where she said the ring was dropped and now my battery was dying! I prayed and asked my heavenly Father to help my detector last just long enough to be able to find Jade’s lost heirloom ring! God then gave me the idea to go sideways out as far as I could where it was just over my waist and the sandy bottom had areas where it dropped away a foot or so. Fifteen minutes later I got a funny signal that sounded much like sunglasses sound only distorted like. I dug three scoops trying to retrieve the curious item. Actually it was the only signal I had gotten all the while and as I shook out the sand my head lamp lit up the scoop and there to my utter amazement was Jade’s precious lost ring! Words cannot express my joy and the emotion I felt and I let out a loud prayer of thanksgiving to my Father God!

I could not wait to get to the car and dry off and send Jade the good news! We talked and I assured them that we could meet anytime in the next day or two to pick up their precious ring! Early the next morning Jade arrived at our home and I was able to personally hand her the ring she thought was lost forever in the churning waters of the Atlantic Ocean! Google gave them a very, very slim chance of ever seeing their ring again but thankfully God came through and used little ol me to help them out of a desperate situation! And I am so thankful they gave me a call and trusted me to do what I could in their time of need!
