I got a call today from Charlie who was in town for a wedding in Santa Barbara with his wife. They were from Columbus Ohio so being that there are no beaches there everyone in the wedding was playing in the water at East Beach. Charlie was playing football in the water when he felt his wedding ring slip off his finger. He was waste deep and even though he swiped and searched his ring was gone. So Charlie did the only thing he could do, he called Dave The RingFinder to get his wedding ring back.

I checked the tides and as luck would have it we had 2 hours until low tide so now was the time to get in the water and find Charlie’s ring. After sitting in traffic for nearly all of those two hours thanks to Cal Trans constant freeway fixes, I finally met Charlie in the parking lot and together we went into the water. Charlie had been all over the area playing catch and diving into waves so I knew I just had to be patient and grid slowly as I always do. After a couple trash targets I moved a little closer to shore and started to grid parallel to the shore when I got a 22 on my Minelab Manticore. I was waist deep so getting my scoop in behind the waves took me a minute but I was finally able to scoop the target out.

It took me minute to sift through the rocks and when I did I saw the beautiful white gold men’s wedding band in the bottom of the scoop. I looked over at Charlie and nodded that I had his ring. He ran up on me, saw his ring and bear hugged me in the water. Another vacation to Santa Barbara saved by Dave The RingFinder! We got back to my car and I got to pray over Charlie and his ring and we thanked God for helping lead us to the ring because finding a ring in the ocean requires a lot of help from above!

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon until it wasn’t. I got a call from Christian who was leaving Santa Barbara to go back home to Golden Colorado. On the last day of his families vacation he had been digging in the sand on north side of the pier at West Beach in Santa Barbara when he discovered his Platinum wedding band was gone. They tried frantically to search in the sand but platinum rings are heavy and every push of the sand just served to bury it further out of reach. He realized that they needed to get to the airport so they didn’t miss their flight so he did the only thing he could do, he called Dave The RingFinder.

Christian dropped me a pin in the general area and I told him I would get up there that afternoon and get his ring back. I got to the area and began to scan for where you could see where folks had been gathering. Fortunately in their quest to find the ring they had left a perfect scene of the crime and I could tell exactly where they had been searching. I started on the outside of the area and sure enough I got a solid tone on my Minelab Manticore and two scoops later I had Christian’s ring back.
