Wedding Band Lost/Found/Returned Pleasant Bay Orleans, MA

An enjoyable summer day at Pleasant Bay’s Jackknife Cove almost ended in a not so pleasant afternoon. Derek had put his wedding band safe with his glass’s case where it stayed for the hours of beach time. When it was time to leave for the afternoon Dalia took her one-year old’s sun tent down and shook the sand off. Unfortunately, the ring was shaken off with the sand and landed with a “tink” which was heard by all before it disappeared into the sand. As it happens 95% of the time all the searching would not retrieve the ring. It was time for sophisticated equipment to help in the search.

40 minutes after I received a call for the needed help I was standing on the beach with my detector in hand. I was shown where the tent had been. OK I started searching the immediate area of some 10X20 feet. Unbelievable but only two trash targets were found. I checked my equipment, covered the area again with the same results. OK I had to increase the area and added another 10 feet to the breadth of the search area and there it was. I actually saw the ring resting in the sand as I passed my detector’s coil over the ring. I guess Dalia had shaken the tent a bit harder than we thought. I scooped up the ring and let Dalia remove it from the scoop. Smiles, Hoorahs and Thanks with picture taking followed.

Dalia and Derek’s 3rd anniversary in July will not be spoiled by the absence of a wedding band. Congratulations!

Lost class ring, Found 22 years later, Sanford, Florida….and returned to owner!

A friend of ours told me about her lost diamond engagement ring and said it could have been dropped some where around the house that they used to live in, 20 some years ago! She had a sneaking suspicion that maybe one of her boys had gotten a hold of it and miss placed it either inside the house or maybe dropped it some where outside of the house in the yard…possibly! And since they only moved just across the street it has been easy access to the house and yard for the occasional metal detecting. I had started around the front of the house checking every signal that sounded off in the small gold ring range and I dug plenty of foil, pull tabs and pieces of construction aluminum from when the house was built. Next I went along a small grassy area between the houses and got a strong signal that just begged to be dug up! Four inches down I uncovered a large class ring of someone who graduated in the year 2000. The school name indicated a small Christian school that is no longer functioning but my own children attended that very school back in the day! So I asked around and found the parents of the young man who lost his ring and sure enough….while living in that house he had lost his ring shortly after graduating! I always get a thrill when I find a ring in the ground but it brings special joy when that ring has information on it that helps me return it to the rightful owner. In this case I called one of the parents and asked them about their son and his lost class ring and sure enough, he had lost it shortly after his graduation.

This lady had lost her gold and diamond ring in her yard on the day before, during a family event. I found the ring in less than 30 minutes about 4-5 feet from the edge of the driveway.

I received a call from Tim about his wife, Regina’s, wedding band that was lost in the sand in North Wildwood, NJ. He explained that the ring was in his pocket and must have fell out when he pulled his keys out. Shortly after my arrival and a quick search with my metal detector, the wedding band was found! It was another awesome day on the beach and it felt great to hear Regina comment that I helped « save the vacation. » Now the ring is safely back on her finger, and the family can continue to relax and enjoy the rest of the week!

Lost Wedding Ring Near Kamas Utah- Found After Over a Year in the Creek!

I saw post on FB about a lost ring that happened over a year ago. Alisha and her husband had been up in the mountains when she had barely took her ring off and it dropped out of her hand and rolled off the bridge into the water. I had been talking to her for a couple months waiting for the spring runoff in the mountains to get up to the location where she had lost it. Saturday turned out to be the right day to go as the water in the creek had finally got back to normal levels. She told me it fell into the water on the east side of the bridge. The water was extremely cold and the current was strong! It was probably only 3-4 feet deep in that area but the slippery rocks and the current made it difficult. I started right in the area of where she explained she lost it and after several signals that included fishing weights, spinners, aluminum cans, and even a can of fishing bait, I got a clean 12-13 on the metal detector and after a couple handfuls of gravel, the ring appeared in my hand! The ring had not traveled very far from where it was dropped but it had spent over a year in the bottom of the creek!!! I called Alisha as soon as I got down from the mountain and she was so excited to hear the good news! She talked about how often she thought about the ring as she works for the forest service and would pass by the bridge. She was confident that one day she would see it again. Goes to show that things that are lost are not always lost forever!

Kayla was wearing his ring when she took a swipe at an insect. Once done the ant was gone and so was the ring. We searched and what should have been simple, turned into a two day hunt.

I received a call from Susannah who asked me if I could help find a lost ring in the sand. I was available. I let her know how long it would take to get to where they were, and that I was on my way.

When I got to the beach I was met by Michael who was the person who lost the ring. He told me how he had been playing volley ball, and when going for the ball noticed his ring was gone. He and his friends searched for it to no avail. I got my equipment ready, and began my search. Michael was showing me where to look first, which I did because it is always best to listen to the person who lost their valuable. After I hit all the places that he had shown me, I began to drift outside of the box he had shown, which at the time seemed a bit disconcerting to him, so I tried to reassure him that his ring was not where he thought it was, and to trust me on this one. Then about 10 feet away from his original spot I got the signal, dug and had his ring, to Michael’s great surprise. He was very happy to have it back, and glad for my perseverance. His friend, the shorter one of the two in the photo ran over and gave the strongest bear hug ever while jumping up and down. Needless to say, there was some celebration going on. Love those smiles.

Wedding Band Left Behind After Beach Trip With The Pups, FOUND

Lindsey & Mike were on the Emerald Isle Beach with their son and 2 dogs.  Mike placed his wedding band in a bag before heading into the water.  Between the fun on the beach, playing with their son and the dogs, the bag holding the ring was moved and the ring fell out unbeknownst to the young couple.  After leaving the beach, Mike asked Lindsey for his ring and she had thought he had already taken it from the bag.

I was on my way later that day to recover another ring in the opposite direction.  After some communications between Lindsey and I, I headed to the beach location the next day with a friend to search.  The beach was crowded, of course, for a Saturday and this made some of the areas I suspected the ring to be located unavailable.  After some time and expanding the search area, Mike’s ring was found at the top of a slope very close to being washed into the ocean.  I took a picture as soon as possible and sent it on the Lindsey.  We met the following day for the return.

Jolie contacted me in the evening, she had lost her ring in the sand at the beach while throwing a football around, and was needing help in finding it. I let her know I was available, and was on my way.

When I got to the area she and her friend were waiting by the swing set, and showed me the area of the loss which was right next to it. Jolie proceeded to show me exactly what she did when she felt the ring leave her finger which narrowed the search area considerably. I began my grid, and made about 5 passes before I heard anything in the head phones, then the high pitch of silver rang in my ears, and I dug. There in my scoop was one of the finest silver rings I have ever found. It was a shear delight just to look at. I pulled it out and held it up for her, and she ran over in disbelief that it was found so quickly. To see her smile was a completion of my day.
