Another wedding ring safely returned in Western Wisconsin!

I received a call from a woman who was hoping I could help recover a couple of rings lost on the beach. I assured her that I could help and gathered some more details about the location and what had happened.
Kristen explained that she had been on the beach with a group of friends, and at some point, the rings were placed inside a shoe that was sitting on top of a towel. Later in the day, when they packed up, the towel was picked up and shaken out—unfortunately sending the rings tumbling into the sand without anyone noticing at the time.
It wasn’t until later that they realized the rings were missing. They quickly returned to the beach and searched the area themselves but had no luck finding them.
I told her I could be there shortly and asked her to meet me at the dune crossover so we could walk out together to the search area. Once on the beach, she showed me where they had been set up. Based on her description, I marked off roughly a 20-by-20-foot area to begin the search.
It didn’t take long.
Within just a few moments, I got a solid signal and had the first ring in my scoop. Shortly after that, I picked up another signal—and there was the second ring.
Both rings recovered within minutes.
The look of relief and happiness on their faces was priceless. What had seemed like a frustrating and disappointing loss just hours earlier turned into a complete recovery.
Another great reminder that even when items are lost in the sand, they’re often still right where they fell—it just takes the right equipment and experience to bring them back.

Lost a ring in Brigantine NJ?

Losing a wedding band in the ocean can feel final. The waves, currents, and constantly shifting sand make recovery seem nearly impossible. But a recent recovery in Brigantine, NJ proves that with experience and persistence, even a ring lost in the surf can be found.
The client was enjoying a swim in the ocean in Brigantine when he suddenly realized his wedding band had slipped off his finger. Cold water and wave action often cause fingers to shrink, making rings easier to lose. Within seconds, the ring disappeared beneath the surface.
A professional search was conducted shortly after the loss. The initial search focused on the area where the ring was believed to have come off. Despite a careful and methodical grid search using specialized metal detecting equipment designed for ocean conditions, the ring was not located. This is not uncommon, as tides and wave movement can quickly shift objects away from their original location.
Rather than giving up, a second search was scheduled the following day. This time, the strategy changed. By evaluating tide patterns, wave direction, and how heavier objects settle in the sand, the search area was adjusted beyond the original drop zone.
During the second search, after expanding and repositioning the grid, a strong signal was detected beneath the sand. Within moments, the lost wedding band was recovered.
This recovery highlights an important lesson: rings lost in the ocean are often moved by natural forces, and a second search with an adjusted approach can make all the difference.
At Ring Finders South Jersey, each recovery is handled with experience, the right equipment, and a commitment to finding what others might consider lost for good.
If you’ve lost a ring in the ocean or on the beach, don’t assume it’s gone forever. A professional search even a second one can lead to a successful recovery when you least expect it.

Danielle texted me to ask if I could help find a ring her Daughter lost while at the beach. The ring had belonged to her Uncle and was very sentimental. I met Danielle and Bella at the beach and proceeded to the towel line where the ring was lost.
On my third pass gridding the area I received a nice signal that turned out to be her ring. They were both relieved that the ring had been found.

Back where it belongs!
This (Tuesday) morning I saw I’d missed a text overnight from Celeste in Akron, Ohio. The text said her fiancée, Khaliya, had lost her white gold engagement ring in their snow filled parking lot on Monday. Unable to find it, they had asked around to see if anyone had a metal detector. They were able to get a hold of one and gave it a try, but without any experience with a detector, they had no luck, just a lot of noise. Then someone told them about Ring Finders and Celeste decided to “give it shot” and reached out.
I have to admit, I didn’t have very high hopes at first, especially being a parking lot! First of all, Ohio was slammed with snow over the weekend, and a lot of places were still “digging” out! Secondly, some parking lots can be tough, with rebar and other structural supports running beneath them causing interference. Plus, with traffic and pedestrians, a ring can be kicked, moved, run over, dragged or even picked up! You name it, it could happen! Third, plowing! If the parking lot had been plowed, or if the snow had been removed…it wouldn’t bode well. I expressed these concerns to Celeste when I messaged her back and the response was just what we (as detectorists) love to hear in a situation like this; gravel parking lot, had not been plowed. Great!!
I arrived in front of their house around 1 pm and they met me at my truck. They explained that they were helping their roommate get their vehicle out of the snow and had been pushing the car up the driveway. We followed the path they took and then I sent them inside (it was single digits with a negative windchill!) and told them I’d text when I found it. Less than five minutes later, BAM! Clear tone, one to two inches down in the snow, there it was! I text Celeste with a simple, “Got it!” and received, “OMG! Coming!”
I took a couple of pictures of the ring as I waited and when they arrived, they were both so excited and couldn’t believe how quickly I had found it! I handed Khaliya her ring and I showed them exactly where it was found. They thanked me, we snapped some pictures and I sent them back in to get warm! I loaded up the truck, blasted the heat and headed home, smiling! It never gets old!

Khaliya and her ring with Celeste!

The ring!

John The Ring Finder
I got a call from Annie, the sister of a man named Jim. She sounded worried and emotional.
Jim had lost his white gold wedding band while swimming in the ocean at Sea Isle City, New Jersey.
A powerful wave hit him, and the ring slipped off his finger into the rough water.
Annie explained everything over the phone. The family was upset and hoping I could help recover the ring.
As Ring Finder John, I’ve recovered many rings along the Jersey Shore. This wasn’t my first Sea Isle search.
I met Jim and the family at the next low tide. The ocean was still rough and churning.
Jim showed me the area where the ring had likely fallen off. We hoped to find it quickly.
After hours of searching, I came up empty. No sign of the wedding band that day.
I returned the next low tide. Conditions were still difficult. Waves and shifting sands made recovery harder.
Again, no luck. But I wasn’t giving up on this lost ring in Sea Isle City just yet.
For the next few days, I watched tide charts closely and waited for calmer water conditions.
On the seventh day, I returned during low tide. The ocean had finally calmed a little.
While scanning the area, I got a deep, solid signal in the wet sand.
I dug carefully—and there it was! A beautiful white gold wedding band, shining in the sunlight.
After seven days underwater, I finally held it in my hand.
I called the family right away. Jim was thrilled beyond words when he saw his lost wedding ring.
He slipped it back on his finger, smiling with relief and joy. The whole family was grateful.
Recovering a lost ring in the ocean takes patience and persistence—but it’s always worth it.
This is why I love what I do as Ring Finder John.
If you’ve lost a ring in Sea Isle City or the Jersey Shore, don’t give up hope.
