I received a call from Abraham regarding a ring he had lost in the sand at the beach. It had happened just a few hours prior, and he remained there, so the chances of a recovery were quite good. I prepared my equipment, and headed out for the search.

It was dark already when I got to the beach, but was able to find Abraham and his wife. They led me out to the area of the loss, and explained what happened. I began my search working in a tight grid, pass after pass finding some metal items, but not the ring. but then on one of the passes I received the signal I was looking for. I dug with my scoop, and shook out the sand, seeing a bright ring in the light of my headlight. I held it up for them, and they came over very excited to see it again. It was a great night for all.

Damian contacted me about a ring he had lost 3 days prior. I let him know that I would do the search, but that with the passage of time the recovery opportunity diminishes. He agreed to do the search, but would not be able to meet me there. He gave concise directions to the area he believed the loss to have occurred, a very well traveled area, and I was on my way.

When I arrived, and looked the area over, the sand was untouched for most of the area he had given me. But I could tell that the county had groomed part of the area I would be searching with their machines. I began furthest from the groomed area, and made a tight grid working my way out. Finding mostly tin foil, bottle caps and some coins, the haul was normal. I was getting close to the machine cleaned area, when on the edge, received a good signal, dug, and had a ring. I took a picture of it, and sent it in a text to Damian to see if I found his ring. He assured me this was the one. I wanted to get it back to him as soon as possible, so He gave me his home address where his wife was there to receive it. Like I tell people, there is always hope. You just never know.

Lindsey called after having lost her two gold rings in the sand at the beach. She knew the area, and it happened earlier in the day, so I knew there was a good chance of making a recovery. I let her know I would get there as soon as I could to increase the possibility of a successful search.

When I got to the beach, it was already dark, but I assured Lindsey that if she could get me close to the area of the loss I should be able to find them. She walked me over to the area she had been in, and within 10 minutes, I was able to hand her back the rings that had a very high significance in her life. This was a great search.

This had to be one of my craziest searches, in fact I even wonder today why I just didn’t walk away from it when I got there. I received a call from Alexis asking if I could come and help her find her ring she lost in the bushes the day before. I let her know I could, and we arranged a time for me to be there.

I arrived, and found my parking further down the street from Alexis’ house. I sent her a text to let her know I was there, and walked over to the house. As I was heading over I saw a man come out of the house, and start working on a car a couple doors down. I stopped in front of the house, sent another text, and waited. Not long after Alexis came out with a small dog, and I waved to let her know I was who she was waiting for. She put her finger to her mouth to shush me, and pointed to the man (her husband) working on the car. It was then I began to rethink being there. I realized she did not want her husband to know that I was there to help her. She pointed to the other side of the street, and down the block to meet her there, which I did, and then she explained how she had been walking her dog, and lost the ring in the bushes not far from where her husband was working. I told her I would search the area for her, and walked over to begin. Fortunately her husband was preoccupied with what he was doing to see the two of us talking. I searched for about 30 minutes in thick ground cover, while Alexis was walking her dog up and down the street occasionally stopping to see my progress. I found the ring, and held it toward her to let her know it was found. She came right over to retrieve it, and I looked to see that her husband had gone back into the house. I have no idea what was going on between the two, and Alexis did not want her picture taken, but I do know that even police officers do not like walking into domestic disputes, as they can be very explosive. Alexis was very relieved to have her ring back, and I was relieved that nothing more came of it. It was a good recovery.

Anthony had been out the night before sitting on a grassy hillside with his girlfriend in a Los Angeles Park when she realized her ring was missing. He called and asked if I was available to come out and do a search for him. I was, and we agreed on a time to meet there at the park.

It is a rather large park with many roads weaving through it, so it took me a while to find the exact area for the meeting. Once there Anthony met me, and showed me the hillside they were on, and had narrowed down the area considerably which helped. I began my grid search making sure to cover every inch with a slow swing of the coil. All of a sudden there were gun shots ringing out. Not one, not a few, but it sounded like a war had commenced. I looked up, and realized that the hill was overlooking the LAPD Academy firing range. Whew! It took about 30 minutes of diligent searching, and it paid off in a recovery. Anthony was very happy that he would be able to get the ring back to his girl friend.

Jessica called a bit upset because she had just lost her custom made diamond halo ring in her yard only 30 minutes before, and was not able to find it. I tried to see if it was possible to help over the phone, and she tried , but still was unable to find it. It was already dark, and because it was her yard I knew it wasn’t going anywhere, so we arranged to have me come and do a search the next day.

As I was driving up to her house, I did not realize how steep the properties were, so I began to really think about how I was going to do the search. I found the house, and Jessica took me to the back yard where she explained that she was removing the cover from one of her patio chairs, when with the flick of her finger the ring came off in the dark. She heard it ping on the brick deck, and it was gone. I did a visual check of the deck, and there were very few places the ring could have went. Then I looked over the deck railing, and there was about a 20 foot drop with one foot terraces at 3 foot intervals with different types of plants growing. I could see where Jessica had been looking on the first terrace  because the tall decorative grass was flattened from her walking on it. Because the grass was so thick I made sure to search it diligently, but no ring. I then moved to the second terrace, and within a couple of minutes found her very pretty ring. I held it up for her which made her very happy. She then told me it was also her birthday, which made this recovery very special.

Meaghan contacted me wanting help in finding her daughter’s lost ring. Her daughter was playing with some friends in the grass of their yard when while making a spin, her ring flew off of her finger, and was lost in the thick grass. We arranged to meet, and I arrived at the time set.

When I arrived Meaghan met me at her gate, and took me to the back yard of her house. She showed me where the girls were playing when the loss occurred, and explained how they had searched extensively for the ring, but with no luck. I turned on my detector to begin the search, and she went in to the house telling me to let her know if I find the ring. I began my search, and after about 3 passes in the small area, I found the small ring. I went to the door, and let her know, to which she replied, « It hasn’t even been 5 minutes. » She was very happy to have it back, and it was nice to have another successful recovery.

I got a call from a lady who said her husband had lost his wedding ring while at the beach earlier that day. It was now dark, but knowing that beach, and how it is cleaned by machines daily, I knew I had to go right away to insure the greatest possibility of a recovery.

She gave me directions, and also sent me pictures from their time there to show me where to look. When I got there, I was able to line up on a couple of landmarks, and find where to begin. I began my grid in the darkness, making pass after pass finding a few pieces of trash metal. I made sure to work out of the box a bit in order to cover more ground just in case. I went over all the area she told me about, then began to work more toward the water. After about 6 more passes, and almost at the top of the slope, I got a real nice sound in the head phones. I dug, and had the ring. I sent a picture, and she confirmed it was the ring. She then asked if I could drive it to their home about 20 miles away through the Santa Monica Mountains which I agreed to do. When I got to the house she was not there, but her father was able to receive the ring, but did not want his picture taken, so you get me. Anyway, a great recovery, and return.

Jared sent me a contact asking if I would be able to help find his lost wedding ring. I posed a few questions regarding the loss, and wondered if he was still at the site. He told me he lived in a city 50 miles away, so I figured not. It was already dark, but I told him I would go and do a search for him if he were able to pin point the area he thought the ring was lost. He thought about doing it the next day, but I explained how time would work against a successful recovery, so he gave me guidance to the area.

I arrived at the area, and made my way down to the pinned spot he had shown me in a satellite image. I marked the area and began a grid larger than he had shown to insure nothing was missed. I went pass after pass digging every tone to be sure. I found numerous pieces of trash metal, some with promising signals, but no ring. Then about 30 feet off the mark I received a good strong signal, dug, and had his ring. I took a picture, and told him I found it. I was in the process of writing to find out when I would be able to make the return when Jared told me that he and his wife were having dinner just 5 miles up the road on my way home. I let him know that I would meet him in the parking lot, and was on my way. When I got there he was outside waiting in disbelief that this all happened to get his ring back, and he told me he had only been married 2 months. How exciting is that!
