Lost Ring .. White Gold with Diamonds .. Downey, CA. .. Found in Tot Lot

Amber called me after Sharon found TheRingFinders website. Her first question was to ask about how the service works? Her concern was, that she wasn’t sure where her,white gold with diamonds,ring was lost. Amber and Sharon had been several places including a sandy totlot and Chucky Cheese amusement center in Downey, CA. Amber noticed the ring missing that evening after several hours away from the house.

Amber thought it was probably lost at the Chucky Cheese business which would not leave much hope to find it. Sharon believed that the ring was at the totlot in the sand. After hearing the list of events and knowing that Amber had not felt ring slip off. It was now just a matter of eliminating the sandy totlot before some other detectorist found it.

I was out of town but told Amber that I could be at the location before 4pm. She agreed to meet me at the location as I had told her, our chances of finding the ring are better if she can narrow the search area. Both Amber and Sharon were there when I started the search, I could tell Amber had not much hope of finding the ring. She had to leave for a few minutes, so Sharon was there when I found the ring near the children’s slide. When I held up the ring, Sharon broke out with a giant smile and her eyes lit up. Then we waited for Amber to show up. That’s when we were able to make it a second surprise moment. As we walked up to her, I asked her if she had been near the swings. As she was answering me Sharon held the beautiful gold w/ diamond ring up for Amber to see. Surprise, another big smile from Amber.  Sharon was right about the location.

They were so nice and appreciative. I enjoyed helping them and it was worth the extra drive to have a successful search.

A ring return just hours before hurricane Jose hit Cotuit, MA.

Kevin was playing ball in the last of the summer’s warm water when the his wedding band slipped into the water. A group of friends spent many hours of searching without the result they desired. A call to J&E Enterprise lead Kevin to calling me for help. Hurricane Jose was coming with high winds, surf and winds, I had to go NOW. Passing up the National Hamburger Day dinner, I was off to a little known beach to start a search. I had Kevin’s description of where to search and Elizabeth was to meet up with me to add more information.

I arrived about an hour before Elizabeth showed up on the beach. I had searched the area Kevin had described. Now with a few more questions answered I moved the search area over another 30 feet. After covering the new area I was on my own. I had to widen the search area and did so by working the wet sand area. I did a turn and magically Ted was standing there watching me. He told me he was Kevin’s friend going back to early school days. He then suggested I cover the area where he would through a rock to. Well that did not go too well as his arm was not in good enough shape to toss a rock far enough. So into the water I went with instructions for Ted to tell me were to stop and search. Another 10 yards past were I had searched I was told to stop. I marked off 5 yards either side of the “stop” mark. I started searching in the direction Elizabeth had said to move from where I had searched. Another 10 minutes and the shining white gold ring was glittering in my scoop. A good thing as I could see and feel some of Jose’s force heading our way.

Timing is always of the essence in locating a lost item. The earlier a search can be started the better the chance for a recovery is. A hint for anyone that “looses” an object is to mark the area, take pictures, note any physical objects that can be used as a reference point then call a RingFinder. If an item is lost in the water, drop a few coins in the area as a “marker” for a searcher to look for. Or as Kevin did – have friends able to help in the search. If it had not been for Ted showing up and putting me in the proper area, I would not have found the ring that afternoon. And it might not have been a couple of days before the hurricane would pass and detecting would be safe to do again.

Diamond Earring

Falls Church, VA. Land search AT Pro with stock coil and 4’ sniper coil, Pro pointer. About 1 hour.

Pamela called me and left a message. She was visiting a grave site when she lost a very treasured earring. As anyone would do, she searched on her hands & knees for a long time. I called her back and we worked out the time and location to meet. Pamela was on top of everything, she even contacted the cemetery to make sure it was OK to search.

As always, we re-enacted how the item was lost. Having the matching earring allowed me to set the detector to ignore most other targets. I started searching in a small area with a probe, and then a larger area with the stock coil. Despite proper settings, the larger coil was getting too many signals. Within minutes of switching to the sniper, I recovered the earring. When I pulled it out of the grass, I was overwhelmed from the look on Pamela’s face. I am so glad to be able to help people find their treasures. Thanks to Chris Turner, for being a visionary and creating the Ringfinders.

In retrospect I should have started with the 4” coil, but I have had great success on small items in the past with the stock coil. I’m glad I could adapt to the unexpected conditions with the proper equipment. Pamela is a very interesting person who has some professional experience in electromagnetic fields. She expressed interest in learning to metal detect and helping others. Jump on in Pamela, the water’s great:)

Lost Diamond Earring found in Mt Prospect

Doesn’t have to be big to mean a lot to you.
Received a call , when lost a diamond earring while cutting the grass.
Right off the bat I had 2 concerns, first concern was it was an earring (very small target), second concern she was cutting the grass.
Sometimes you just need a little luck.
After about an hour I hit it, she was a happy camper!!

Gold Ring Lost In Vegetable Garden, Hazeldean, Edmonton Alberta.

I received a call from Lisa this morning asking if I could help her locate her gold diamond ring which she had lost yesterday while picking vegetables from her garden.

When I met Lisa she told me that she had searched for three hours along with her husband last night, They had also used a metal detector in the search but could not find the ring. I told Lisa that most probably they had buried the ring even deeper into the ground while looking for it. Within five minutes I located her ring buried five inches deep in ground.  Lisa was very happy to have her ring back on her finger.

Wedding Ring Lost at Huntington Beach, CA…Found and Returned.

I received a call yesterday from David, a friend of the gentleman who lost his wedding ring. He told me that the ring was lost while folding the beach chair getting ready to head for home. They had searched until his friend had to leave for home because his young child was getting cold and needed rest. David though said he would remain until I came to look for the ring, and I was on my way.

When I got there, I found David. Fortunately he had another friend who remained with him. They showed me the spot of the loss, and I readied my equipment for the search. The area was not very large so I knew the search would be a short one. It was important that they remained in the exact area, and marked the spot where they believed the loss to have occurred. I began my search, and found a quarter, and then continued on. I got another good signal, and it took me a couple of scoops to get the target. I looked in the scoop, and there was a ring of the type they explained to me. David then called his friend and did a « Face Time » with him showing him the ring. He was very happy, and I got to see his smile. …but what a great couple of friends he has, who would stay behind and wait for me to conduct my search. I think David’s smile says it all!

Night Hunt Oak Street Beach Chicago, ILLinois

Received a call at 7:30 PM from a gentleman who had lost his White Gold and Diamond wedding band while brushing sand off his arm as he and his family were leaving the beach after a wonderful 92 degree day on September 24th.

Fortunately he found the Ringfinders website while googling « how to find ring in the sand »

Fortunately he also had the correct idea to stay on the beach and mark the location with his shoes AND IMMEDIATELY call a ringfinder!!!

One hour later he had his ring back. I took an UBER to his location, since Oak Street Beach is located just off the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. Parking is non existent..

I found his ring in less than 1 minute along with some coins.

Engagement Ring Found In Lamoille River

This story has such a happy ending, I had to post it, even though I didn’t find her ring.

About 3-1/2 weeks ago I got a call from a guy who’s wife had lost her engagement ring while rafting on a Northern Vermont river with friends. They hit a rough spot of water and she fell in. She knew immediately that she lost it, but the water was too fast and deep to look for it. The next day there was even more rain which made conditions worsen.

So, the following weekend was going to be our first attempt. I gathered together all my diving equipment, underwater lights, masks, snorkels, wetsuit, flippers, etc. I brought extras so anyone that wanted to, could join me. I also brought my shallow water detector and my deep water detector. Each attempt somebody accompanied me because I’ve always believed in swimming using the « buddy system » for safety. That day the water was still very deep, fast and cold. I could only search a small portion of the area and had to quit. When we left, I noticed she was crying. I felt terrible, but knew we had to wait and try again when the conditions were better.

The next week was sunny and dry all week, so we tried it again that weekend. I was able to stay in the water for a couple hours, but again had no luck. There were lots of rocks to look under and between. There also was one really deep stretch, that I thought the ring might have settled into, but I wasn’t able search that very thoroughly, as I could only stay down for about 30 seconds at a time. He said he had a friend who had scuba air tanks and could search with us on the next weekend.

Last week was another hot and dry week, so the river stayed nice and low and warmed up a lot. So, today her husband, the friend with the deep diving equipment and I met there at noon when the sun was high! We all searched for about 1-1/2 hours, when her husband shouted out « I found it »! He had been searching so hard, and without even using a wetsuit. Very tough and determined! I was so glad the ring was found, and it was cool that he found it, adding to the sentimental meaning of the ring.

After he called her with the good news, he asked if he could give me something for my travels. I told him that it would be nice if he just gave a donation to our local humane society. Central Vermont Humane Society is my favorite charity. He told me that his family has a foundation from which each year they donate several thousand dollars to various charities. He said he would pick our humane society to donate to this year. Wow!!! A double happy ending!

WEDDING RING LOST GARDENING IN KELOWNA BC, RETURNED.

Ed was renovating his back garden when he noticed his wedding ring was missing, his wife found The Ringfinders website and he called me. I responded the next morning and checked out the worksite, he had removed the old flowerbed and replaced it with landscape cloth covering and bark mulch. My initial suspicion was that it would be in the debris in the back of his pickup, but I started my search at the new garden. That was a good choice as I found his ring under the bark mulch and  landscape cloth within five minutes.

Lost Wedding Ring Found! – Oak Creek, WI

A young Michigan couple, Ryan and Jess Knapp, were visiting in Wisconsin and enjoying an evening’s fun with their son, West, at Oak Creek Parkway Park. But then Ryan’s black tungsten wedding ring disappeared. A thick bed of woodchips in the playground seemed the logical place to search. Ryan looked late into the night using the flashlight on his cellphone but his efforts proved futile.

Early the following morning I received a text from Ryan asking if I might assist. We arranged to meet at the park that afternoon. I arrived an hour earlier than anticipated and so began a systematic search of the kid’s playground area using an XP Deus wireless metal detector and probe. Initially, the usual coins, pull-tabs and foil were all that turned up. However, just before Ryan and Jess arrived, a signal from underneath the playground’s monkey bars invited further investigation—it was Ryan’s wedding ring!

For me, the best part of any search is the moment when I get to hand a ring back to its owner. The smiles tell the rest of the story!

If you or someone you know has lost a ring or other sentimental jewelry item there is a good chance it can still be found. Whether on land, in water or snow, don’t lose hope! Even rings that have been lost for many years are no match for today’s technology, experience and kindness.
