Lost Gold Chain North Shore Found

  • from Waikīkī Beach (Hawaii, United States)

This recovery started out by a referral from one of Hawaii’s known Ringfinders Joe Au’ franz who called me and asked if I was available to help search for a lost gold chain in the ocean on the North Shore. I received the information I needed to contact Jojo Aka Mom and called her to let her know I’m  gathering my gear and will be heading out to meet them. As I was on the road I decided to call and get details. Jojo informed me that Her and her husband Alan are on their way to the beach also with scoop nets to try and help their son Justin who actually lost it the moment he dove into the water which was in waist to chest deep. When I got to the location Jojo sent Justin to the parking lot to meet me and show me to the place in where he believes the chain will be. As I get closer to the waters edge I see Alan Justin dad in the water looking. I asked Justin as we stood on the beach looking out at the water a few important questions regarding his recollection of the event and I gathered as much information as possible. There was surf and the tide started to change. So I knew this was gonna be a task. It’s been close to 3 hours since the drop and with our currents and surf a big thick gold chain can move around so I needed to get out in the surf quick as the day was coming to an end. I turned on the Minelab equinox and head out to where Justin recalls him losing the chain. I start my search and being diligent to grid very carefully all the while dodging waves as they pound over me. After a few passes I notice the chain is not where Justin remembers. I call Justin  into the water to ask a few more questions and got a little more information. So I started another approach… outside of the surf zone there is a drop off and since the tide is going out there could be a chance of it rolling into the deeper water. I carefully followed the trench line and came up short! Not a single tone. I needed to move quickly because time is of the essence. So, I start to go into shallower water and that’s where I started to get a lot of targets. Many sounding like Gold but to only find old aluminum and trash. As I continue to look in the shallow water I notice out of the corner of my eye Justin looking at me. It’s not a look of excitement but of HEY RINGFINDER… your in the wrong place. And knowing that look started to play with my mind. One part of me wants to please Justin and go back to the place he thinks but my knowledge of the ocean and metal detecting got the better of me and I turned away from looking towards Justin and continued to search the shallow waters. As I was in knee to ankle deep water I hear the tone of what could be Gold. I turn back over my shoulders to look at the family and as they were all looking towards me with many emotions I decided to turn away and dig this target. After the first scoop I see a huge gold chain slide out of the side of the scoop and fall back into the water. With excitement I turn to the family and yell… WE GOT IT! I put my had in the water a pull out Justin’s huge Gold 10mm chain. The family on the beach all screamed with joy as I held up the chain in the air to show what was lost is now found! People on the beach were looking as the family and I celebrated the recovery. Another beautiful day here in paradise a place we call home. Mahalo for the referral brother joe!

Lost Women’s Diamond White Gold Wedding Ring – Nags Head – Outer Banks, NC – Found

  • from New Smyrna Beach (Florida, United States)

Got a call from Brooks who said that he and his wife were visiting from western NC.  While she was on the beach he said that she was doing something and felt her ring flick off of her hand.  They looked and looked…even sifting the sand with a colander to try to find the ring.  No luck.

I told Brooks that I would be right over and loaded the Equinox 800 in the truck.  It took me a while to get down to Nags Head but once I did, I met Brooks at the access point and he filled me in on the details.

I fired up the Minelab machine and went to work.  Almost immediately I got a good 9 to ring up but it was deeper that I expected the ring to be…so I continued on the sweep for a while.  Getting no other hits, I returned to the 9 and dug around in the sand with my hands.  Low and behold a ring popped out.

I asked Brooks if that was it.  Yes, Yes it was, and what a beautiful ring.  His wife met us at the access parking lot and they were both overjoyed.  I love getting rings back to their owners.

*** I was detecting around fire pits at Bolsa Chica State Beach, CA., when I found a working cellphone. It must have been dropped in the sand the night before. The phone was locked but it had enough charge in it to receive a call. My hope was that the owner would try calling it from another phone.

The last time I found an iPhone there was a message on the locked screen that said, this phone has been lost and it gave a phone number to contact the owner. That was convenient and easy way to return a iPhone.

I was about to take the phone into the AT&T store for help finding the owner. It had been three days since I found the phone. Just before entering the store, looked at the phone clicking on Emergency Contacts. “Boom” .. three phone numbers that I used to let contacts of Taylor know I have his phone.

Within 10 minutes Taylor called me. We set up a time and place to meet. Taylor was so excited and happy to have his phone returned. I know how he felt because I had also lost my iPhone 11 a couple days before and a couple called me right away. I didn’t have it locked, which could have been a disaster. Security plus expensive to replace $$.

I WILL TRY ANYWHERE “  Don’t wait call or text now!  Stan ..  949-500-2136 ..

Lady’s Black Onyx Silver Ring – Lost, Found, and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

Tuesday afternoon I received a FB text from Crystal saying, “I lost my ring at Beach Cove Resort: 4800 South Ocean Blvd. I know the area right where it is but haven’t found it yet! I’ve been trying to find someone with a metal detector but we leave Thursday, and they are few and far between”. I replied saying call me with my number. When she called, I got a little more detail and told her I’d be there in 15 minutes.

When I got there, I called her from the lobby. Shortly after, she walked off the elevator and we introduced ourselves. On the way out to the beach, she told me she had lost the ring the day before.  I was a little nervous, and hopeful the beach cleaning truck or a person with a metal detector hadn’t already found it. She said the ring was a black onyx silver ring, and showed me the small area, maybe 10’X10’, where she had been sitting. I turned the Equinox 800 on and started a grid search. On my second pass, I got a strong 25 on the VDI (visual display indicator) and I knew I had a solid silver target. I looked down and could clearly see the ring sitting on the sand; Crystal saw it about the same time. She said they had been looking off and on for the last 2 days for it.

Crystal, Thanks for call me to help find your lost treasure. Enjoy the rest of your vacation and have a safe trip back home to Virginia.

Testimonial:

I lost my wedding band in knee deep water at the beach. The current & waves were strong that day, so I knew the likelihood of finding it was slim to none. As I was looking for metal detector rentals in my area, I found Craig & the Ringfinder website. I reached out to Craig (who responded back quickly) and we had an appointment scheduled to meet the following day in the general area where I lost my ring. I had personally looked for hours the day I lost it & Craig was able to find it within 5 minutes… Truly unbelievable! A very simple & straightforward process & I would recommend anyone to contact him in the event you have lost something of value. Thanks Craig!

Lost Well-Head Found by Dave Milsted in Winslow NJ

  • from South Jersey (New Jersey, United States)
Contact:

I received a message from Gary asking if I could find a well-head. I had to ask if it was made of metal, as I don’t know anything about well-heads. He said yes, so I said yes. Then he said it was paved over with asphalt. I said I would try.
We met the following weekend. Gary showed me the area that he thought the well was in. It is in the parking lot of bustling strip stores. There are 12 well-heads on the property. They know where 11 of them are. I asked if he had blueprints that I could see. He didn’t, but he had an old hand-made drawing that didn’t have the additions of the new buildings. I looked at the picture and hoped that the driveway was in the same place before the new construction.
I started my search. Within 10 minutes, I had 2 good hits that could be what we were looking for. I went over to one of the known wells to check out the signal it gave off. It gave off 2 loud signals within 3 feet of each other, just like I found. Gary painted marks on the parking lot. Gary said that he would have one of his construction crews dig it up the following day.
The next day Gary sent me a picture of the well-head. He said that he wasn’t aware that a service like this was available. He works for a large construction company that is always looking for metal objects. I told him to keep my information and number, and I would be glad to help him out. He said he would be calling a lot.
I love my hobby!

Lost Sapphire and Diamond Engagement and Wedding Rings, Midlothian Virginia…FOUND!

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Rob Ellis: Metal Detecting Expert… Call/text/email, (703)-598-1435, Rob.Ellis@TheRingFinders.com

March 15th 2021: Found a wedding band and engagement ring lost while playing softball.

Jocelyn, her husband and friends were playing family style softball in a field behind their house. She removed her beautiful rings and put them in her pocket before starting to play. After the game, she found her rings missing! Family and friends searched the field for several hours. They even borrowed a metal detector and a rake, to no avail.

Field

Jocelyn then turned to the internet to seek professional help.  She found my contact information on The Ring Finders site (https://theringfinders.com/Rob.Ellis/) and texted me the next morning.  I made the 2 hour drive to Midlothian, Virginia to assist Jocelyn.   When we met, I could see the disappointment in her eyes.  She probably thought the rings were gone for good. After showing me the field, I assured her there was a good chance of recovery.

First Ring

I began my search pattern in the area behind “home plate” and worked toward the “outfield”. I searched into the woods several feet on either side of the field. Within 40 minutes I located Jocelyn’s wedding band to the right side of the home plate area. I left the ring exactly where I’d found it, marking the location by sticking a pencil into the ground.

2nd Ring

Over the next hour and 20 minutes, I searched the rest of the field. I then expanded the search area behind “home plate” and recovered the second ring. I marked the location of the second ring using a softball.

I sent a text to Jocelyn asking her to join me. When she arrived, I showed her the pencil indicating the location of her wedding band. She was incredibly happy to have her wedding band back, but the engagement ring held more sentimental value. I then asked her to pick-up the softball and, to her amazement, there was the ring.  We both shared the delight and relief of finding her treasures.

Smiles!
