*** Joseph’s wife lost her white gold diamond wedding ring in the back yard. The grass was probably 6” deep. She did feel it slip off her finger in a 8’x8’ spot. Joseph raked and pulled grass out for two days without finding the ring. I believe as you rake grass the heavy gold just drops deeper.
The most difficult part of the search was meeting Joseph at his home. He had difficulty getting away from work. I had to wait for an hour in the neighborhood where I wasn’t quite familiar with. There was a lot of graffiti and all the homes had security bars on the windows. I would not have come to that location after dark.
All was well when Joseph showed up and I found out the loss occurred in the backyard. Sometimes a search in the front yard or curb strip draws unwanted attention from neighbors and people passing by. We went to the backyard where I could see all the grass that had been disturbed when he attempted his search.
I set up my high frequency detector which eliminates a lot of the EMI interference. The first target was a costume jewelry gold colored chain. A couple feet outside the site he laid out I got the signal I was looking for. Like I thought, the beautiful diamond ring was deep in the grass and the diamonds were facing down. That seems common when I’m able to see the ring in its original resting place.
Joseph was very excited, grateful that he had found me on TheRingFinders website. He got on the phone right away to call his wife with the good news.

After doing a Google search on lost jewelry on beach Gloria found me on RingFinders and gave me texted me asking for help in locating a lost ring at Manasquan Beach. Told her to meet me there and I’d be there in about 20 minutes. Arriving at the beach Gloria and her husband Michael were waiting for me. They showed me were they were sitting that day. It seems being hot and sunny that day, Michael went to put on sun lotion and in doing so his ring ended up slipping off and disappeared into the sand. They looked for it but just couldn’t find it. This all happened just a few weeks before their anniversary. After doing 4 passes in the area I got the signal I was hoping for and sure enough their was Michael’s ring in my scoop. They were so happy to get it back, and they can have their anniversary with his ring back on his hand where it belongs. The ring hasn’t left his finger since she put it on his finger their wedding day, he showed the indention on his finger. Another happy ending to a great recovery.

Jack lost his Virginia Military Institute class ring while he and his family were in Brigantine, NJ for a beach day. The ring flew off his finger while tossing a ball back to people playing in the ocean. I started a grid search in the water and eventually worked my way toward the shore. Jack and his wife thought they might have been over to the right more, so I walked toward that direction along the shoreline. Three steps later, the sentimental ring was found!

*** I received a call from Izzy’s mother asking if I was available to help her daughter find a hierloom ring that was past down to her from her grandmother. Izzy’s mom said her daughter was on the beach now and was very upset as this ring meant the world to her.
I was able to leave right away. We met on the beach a half hour later. Izzy’s mother also drove to the location. We set up my detector and began a grid search. A few minutes into the search we had the ring in the sand scoop.
It was a successful recovery because they didn’t waste time trying to rent or use a loner detector to search it theirselves. It was my pleasure to be available to help them find the very sentimental ring. The internet and mobile phones has to be given credit for this recovery. Years ago you would have to try to find a metal detector service in the phone book.

While metal detecting at one of my favorite honey holes, I discovered this silver class ring. After a quick online search I was able to locate the owner and made arrangements to mail her class ring back to her. I found out her class ring had been lost for about a month. She was devastated when she lost it. She was so happy and appreciative to have it back in her possession. She thought she had lost it forever.
If I can, even if I don’t get a call to find someone’s lost item, I do my best to try and reunite it with the rightful owner. Being honest, having integrity and doing the right thing has its greater rewards.

I was contacted by Joe because he had been out body boarding 3 days before, and while out in the water lost his wedding ring. He was having to leave for his home up North in a couple of days. I did not have a lot of hope for this situation, but when we hung up I looked at the tide charts and realized it would be a negative low tide early in the morning. I called back to let Joe know I would attempt a search beginning at about 11:00 PM working into the early morning while the tide was going down. Still it had been 3 days, and he did not know how deep he had been when the ring came off, but he was able to narrow down the stretch of beach he had been on while he was enjoying the day. I readied myself, rested up, and got down to do the search at about 11:00 PM.
There was a nice open swath of sand to search due to the diminishing tide, so the search began at the edge on one side of the area. There was a lot of sand, and very few targets while the search went on. Back and forth over about 100 feet of sand, and silence. Then a signal, the scoop went in, and there was a ring, a Irish type Claddagh ring. Joe had not described the ring to me, so I had to contact him to find out if I had found his ring, it was not his. The search continued, and Joe sent a picture of his ring, a white gold band with beveled edges. Then I found another ring, a child’s diamond looking wedding band made out of very cheap metal, not Joe’s. Pass after pass working up the slope, and silence, then another signal, scooped, turned the head light on, and in the scoop was a Joe’s ring, 12:00 AM. I contacted Joe, and he came out to meet right away to get his lost ring back which I am sure he thought he would never see again. I think his smile says it all.
Joe sent the following testimonial:

Neill called about his lost ring. He had been throwing a ball with friends when during a throw he felt his ring come off of his finger. It was a custom ring he had made in Japan, so it had significant sentimental value to him. He and his friends searched for what seemed to be easily found, but were unable to find it. I was available, and let him know I would come immediately.
When I got to the beach I found Neill, and he took me out to the area of the loss. He showed me what had happened, and replayed the motion of when the ring came off. After setting up the equipment, began a tight grid to insure not missing the ring. I made about 5 passes within their original search area, and then began to work outside that perimeter when a nice signal came through the head phones. I put the scoop in, and came up with a solid silver ring. I reached in and held it up for Neill who came over elated that it had been found. this made for the great end of the day.

The Golden Rider….
…As Kevin was preparing to wash and wax his Camaro, he put his ring into his pocket. Waiting for the wax to set up he started a few other outside chores. Completing the buffing and polishing, he washed his hands, hopped into the car and drove off to his brother’s house. On the way he noticed his ring wasn’t on, so he reached into his pocket. After pulling his hand out there was no ring. Arriving at his brother’s house they searched the car but found nothing. Back at home Kevin and his wife searched all over the place for the ring to no avail. When I arrived, I searched the grass areas with my MXT metal detector with no success. I suggested we look in the car again. With a flashlight I was able to see pretty good all the hiding places the ring may be. Still no success. Reaching under the seat there was an opening in the carpet where wires came out. Reaching into the compartment I felt a round object wedged tightly just at the tip of my fingers. Using a small hook and wiggling the wires a bit I was able to free the object. Pulling it to where I could see what it was, I was thrilled it was Kevin’s ring! Holding it in the air Kevin and his wife came running over totally astonished that the ring was in the car. Thrilled that it was found we laughed at the fact that he had a little golden rider in his golden ride all along and never knew it!
