Sandwich, MA – Lost Wedding Band Found and Returned

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

June 11, 2024

It is the time of the year that lawns need attention, thatching, weeding, seeding, edging etc. As in the case of Ted he had to repair some thin spots in his yard that winter had taken its toll on. Ted had all the right tools and products to bring his yard back to its summer time beauty. The day’s chore was just about complete except for the clean up. The last item to be put away was Ted’s gloves. Off they came and as well, his wedding band.

Hours of searching, retracing his steps, nothing Ted did could find his ring. That was until he reached out for help from TheRingFinders. A few texts and a date and time were exchanged for a search. As the plans were set I reached out to my detecting partner Leighton and all was set. We met at Ted’s home and got the low down on specifics of were he had been working on his yard. The main areas were in the rear and one side of the house.

I chose to start on the rear grassy area and Leighton went to the area around the tool shed. Forty-five minutes had passed and I had only one possible signal, but my detector told me it was too deep to be the ring. Right on, but I just had to see what the target was. As it turned out it was an electrical connector of some type that even Google View has not been able to identify correctly.

I had covered the the rear grassy area twice and then headed to the side yard, mainly a mulch covered area. On my third pass the sweet sound of gold rang in my ears. Looking down I saw the ring, sitting on top of the mulch, no digging needed.

I called Ted over and asked him to pick up the, now located, ring. Joy and happiness was evident. It is such a rewarding feeling to help someone out of a nerve racking time. A bit of talk and and many thanks made for another entry to TheRingFinders’ Book of Smiles.

Wildwood, NJ – On a sunny afternoon, Pablo lost his wedding band when he shook out his beach towel and watched as his wedding band slipped off his finger and disappeared into the sand. He reached out to me the following day for help in retrieving his ring. With a detailed description of his location on the beach in hand, I set out to search for the ring. Upon arrival, I carefully surveyed the area, mentally marking the boundaries to ensure a methodical approach. Equipped with my metal detector, I began to sweep across the marked zone. It wasn’t long before the detector’s beeping signaled a find. The wedding band was pulled from the sand! The ring was returned!

2023 Augusta University (AU) Class Ring Lost, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

This adventure started while I was in the process of finding three lost rings in the dry sand on May 30th in Myrtle Beach SC.  While looking for the three rings, I got a great high signal in the dry sand. Thinking I had one of the three rings I dug it up. To my surprise it was a beautiful 2023 Augusta University Class Ring. I knew it wasn’t one of the three, but I showed it to the parents of the owner of the three rings. They verified that it was not one of the three I was looking for. Shortly after finding the class ring, I found the three rings I was looking for and returned them to the parents.

Now comes the hard part in trying to find the owner. My wife is a huge help proofreading my stories and fixing my pictures, she’s also a wizard on social media. I sent her the name engraved inside the class ring and before I got home, she texted me the probable owner she found on LinkedIn. Neither Face Book nor Instagram had any matches. I attempted to send the owner, Sean a text but LinkedIn requires you be a member to communicate with someone. I finally contacted Augusta University, Registrar’s office and talked with a very nice lady, Katie. Katie said if I would e-mail the Registrar office, they would forward the e-mail to Sean’s last known contact information they had on file. I sent the e-mail and waited. After three days I called Katie back and she said my e-mail hadn’t come through. So, I sent a 2nd e-mail making sure I spelled Registrar correctly, left off an ‘r’ the first time. Called Katie back and she said it came through and she just forwarded it on to Sean as well as called and left a message. Fast forward two days to June 7th, I woke up to a text message saying “Hi Jim Wren! This is Sean; I heard you found my ring? Thank you so much for contacting the registrar’s office.” I asked him to verify the two engravings he had in the ring and Bingo, he nailed it, so I knew I had the right guy. I got his address in Oklahoma and his ring was heading home.

Today, June 11th, I received a text from Sean with the picture of him holding his ring. He also told me the back story of how he lost his ring. He said that he and his friends were playing games at Myrtle Beach and when they headed back to their hotel during the evening, he realized his class ring was gone! He said, “I put it by his shirt and when we were packing everything up and heading back it must have slipped out. The entire group of friends combed the entire 100-foot area where their tent was set up on the beach but to no avail.”

Sean – So glad I was able to track you down and get your treasure back where it belongs. I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.

Jim

… John called me to help him find his gold wedding band. He is sure it was lost while gardening in the backyard the day before. My first question is where is he located. To my surprise he only lives three miles from my home. No need to ask too many questions, only when can he be there to meet me?

If the ring is in the backyard and not in a public area, it is not going anywhere. One exception, #1 .. “do not throw out any trash”. I like to take care of the search as soon as possible, that way I’m available for any other emergency ring searches.

We met that afternoon, John had showed me the trash cans with a few leaves. I would save that for later. He had a very good idea of where the loss occurred. There was an heavy metal fence with a small drainage ditch next to the fence. We had to pull out some loose dirt and pine needles far enough from the metal to detect without metal interference.

John was helping me when he stopped. He said, wait, I feel something as he grabbed his left glove. Right then, I knew that his ring was still in his glove.  I pulled out my cellphone and video taped him retrieving his ring from the glove. It had been in the glove from yesterday’s gardening  We were both on our hands and knees in the dirt of his garden when he discovered the ring in his glove.  Even though he thought he had checked his gloves the day before, he had not checked the gloves thoroughly. It happens all the time, always double check. John is 86 years old and has worn that wedding ring more than 58 years.

Diamond Earring Found in Tall Grass

  • from Saint Joseph (Missouri, United States)

I got a call from Stephanye about a lost diamond earring in Independence, MO on Saturday. Her husband, Terrence, was out mowing the grass on a riding lawnmower, a vine on the edge of the woods succeeded in removing the earring from his ear.

It being so small with mostly diamond on it, it took me several passes but luckily, I was able to return it to a very happy Terrence.

.. Susanne is from San Francisco, CA. visiting Newport Beach for a week. The first day of her vacation she lost her wedding ring set in the sand. Both Platinum diamond rings were somewhere in an area the size of a two basket ball courts. After several hours on the beach she discovered that her platinum diamond wedding ring set were no longer on her finger.

She found my contact information online. She called me in a panic and I was able to calm her down by saying I was on my way to meet her. I gave her a little confidence that the rings were not lost forever. With the new and improved metal detectors, we have a very good chance to locate her rings. Especially, because she had not been anywhere else, only on the beach.

Shortly after the conversation on the phone, I met Susanne at the location. There was not too many people on the beach, so it would be easy to do a professional grid search. Within 30 minutes I had two beautiful and irreplaceable diamond rings recovered from the dry sand. She was so relieved and happy to have them back where they belong. I never get tired of seeing the happiness that our service gives to people.

Lost White Gold Wedding Band at Aulani Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find started when I got a text from Josh at Aloha Security stating a couple in Aulani Lagoon the husband lost his White Gold wedding band.  I called and met Josh at Lagoon 1 for the details.  Josh put me in touch with Glory who is Eli’s wife.  She described the area lost and I could hear Eli confirming.  Eli was in 3-4 feet of water when his ring came off probably from the sun tan lotion on his fingers.  I found a few trash targets then about 30 minutes into the hunt I got a nice tone on the Mantcore and after two scoops there was  a large white gold band in the scoop.  By the time I had gotten to my car Eli had texted me a pic of his ring and what I had was a perfect match.  Their home was in Makakilo along my route home so I dropped off the ring there.  Very gracious couple.  Aloha to Eli & Glory!

Anniversary ring recovered!

  • from Eau Claire (Wisconsin, United States)

While exchanging high fives with the players on a young ladies soccer team, her gold anniversary ring slipped off her finger.  Despite a careful search by the girls, the ring could not be found. After being called, I was able to locate the ring quickly with my detector.   Happy ending, good karma.

Randy called me about a set of keys that had been run over by a commercial lawn mower and the most important key was nowhere to be found. He and his son had walked the area numerous times hoping to find the keys but all they could see were bits and pieces of his truck fob/key. The lost keys were very important as they were the only keys he had that opened his storage shed/office and a master key to the apartment building that he owned and managed!

After a thorough search on the internet he finally came across theringfinders.com website and gave me a call. Upon hearing Randy’s story I figured the keys were there hiding in the grass and they may be whole or in pieces as the mower all but destroyed the fob and one key there were able to find. So later that afternoon I met Randy and he showed me the area and as I grid searched back and forth I realized the ground was loaded with trashy signals of all kinds so I concentrated on the strongest and most shallow signals and that helped me locate–first two bent up keys and the metal ring and then just a few steps away, the most important key! Randy was thrilled and relieved to have his keys back and could not stop saying thank you!

Lost something recently? How can I help? Call me ASAP at 321-363-6029!
