*** Ronald lost his IPhone in the sand at Victoria Beach one of the small coves that is in the city of Laguna Beach, CA. He wasn’t sure where the phone was lost until he got home where he could set up his find my phone app on his computer. 

He found my contact information on a google search for a metal detector. When Ronald talked to me he said the app was showing the phone at Victoria Beach near the volleyball courts. It still had 5% battery left so it had not been picked up. 

The call came to me about 10:30am that morning. I left immediately and was at the location 10 miles away shortly after the call. The grid search area was fairly clear as not too many beach goers on the sand. In less than a half hour I was able to locate Ronald’s iPhone. 

He picked it up later that afternoon and was totally elated, thanking me several times. He was also  happy that we were able to set this up without him having to drive to the location. It’s always better to have a person present to help zero in on the location, but in this case he couldn’t be there.

I got a contact from Angel. He was at the beach where he lost a ring of great significance to him. He lost the ring in the sand, but was unsure where exactly, as he and his fiancé had gone to the car before they realized it was gone. They got back to the area, but were not sure the exact spot. I told them that was alright as long as they could get me close it would be a great help. I let them know I was on my way.

I got to the beach, and found them. They showed me the suspected area, so I turned my detector on, and began my grid. I found a few pieces of trash metal, which tends to excite the people I am trying to help, until they see what I found. Then I got a good solid signal in the head phones, a nice strong double beep. I dug, and in my scoop was a very nice looking gold ring. Angel told me that it was his mother’s ring, so the loss was hard to take. So happy to have been a help for him!

I was on a search for a lost ring during low tide at about 2:00 AM. The gentleman who lost it had mentioned also that someone he knew lost a bracelet somewhere in the area also. Well wouldn’t you know it, during the ring search I did find the bracelet. The problem was that the person I needed to give it back to was out of town for a few weeks.

When the time arrived the gentleman who lost the ring arranged for us to get together for a return. When I met the young lady, she said that it lost by a client of hers, so she would return it. So happy to help when it is needed.

Andrew contacted me about a bracelet he lost in the sand at the beach. It was a gift given to him by a friend, so it had special significance to him. I was available so we made arrangements to meet as soon as possible.

When I got there Andrew was with his friend Violet, who was the one who encouraged him to call me for the search. They explained the loss, and showed me the area, which they had not left. I got the equipment ready, and began the search. A couple of passes, and one signal. In the scoop was Andrew’s bracelet. He was very happy to have it back, and I was happy to be able to help.

Car Keys Lost in Sand at Long Beach…Found and Happily Returned.

It was about 11:30 PM when I received the call from a desperate gentleman who had lost his keys in the sand at the beach. Someone had taken them from him, and thrown them in the sand. The parking lot he was in was closed, and he was talking of sleeping the night in his car, so it wouldn’t get towed. I let him know I would come and help.

When I got there I had to park up on the street and walk down to the beach, it was about 12:00 AM now. He showed me where he had been when the keys were thrown, and about where he thought they might be. I turned everything on, and began my grid. I encountered a major problem right away; this beach was infested with metal trash the likes I have never seen all the years I have detecting which made me search at a snail’s pace, having to investigate all the signals I was getting. Finally after about an hour at just after 1:00 AM I dug another signal, and had his keys.. I held them up, and he ran over and hugged me tightly, so happy to not have to sleep in his car in the parking lot. A very happy end of a day!

Lost earring – Gulf Shores, Alabama

I love it when I’m detecting along the beach and someone approaches me asking, “Can you please help me ?”  I was swinging this morning with a friend in the Perdido area when Brandon came up and asked for help. They had been taking some pictures a couple of days ago when his wife lost one of her mother’s earrings in the sand. He didn’t seem to be very confident that we would find it but we set out swinging. As often happens, the location was rather vague. “We stood over here, then we walked over that way”. It only took about 15 minutes before I heard the sweet sound of jewelry pinging around in my scoop as I shook the sand out. Brandon and his mother in law  seemed both surprised and happy !  While the earring didn’t appear to be exceptionally valuable, it had a sentimental value to her and she was thankful.

*** I got a call asking if I could help find a small white gold stud earring lost inside a home. Maybe she read my moto “I Will Try Anywhere”. It seems Brittney knocked her stud earring off a table into a thick deep pile of a plush carpet . This wasn’t the first time a diamond stud earring disappeared in this same rug. She was able to contact me after a google search on the internet.

We discussed the situation and made arrangements for me to meet at the apartment in Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles, CA. When I arrived, I was surprised that it was a 30 story building. There was only valet parking. I was on the guest list and they escorted me to one of the upper units. This is a lot different from finding rings lost in the sand at the beach.

Brittney was frustrated that she couldn’t find this small stud earring in the thick pile plush carpet. It was a replacement fir one that had been lost just a couple months before. I had told her before I came that I couldn’t use my large detectors inside. The two pinpointers I brought could get a signal but only within 1 inch of the earring.  The big disappointment was that there was metal in the floor that made the hand held pinpointer metal detector give false signals.

On to plan “B” , I had a large MagnifyGlass actually a iPad Using a magnifying app and bright lights. So I began hand searching the thick carpet. After awhile, I went to plan “C”. It was a large removable carpet ( 12’x 20’). We were able to pick up one side enough to use the pinpointer ( away from the metal interference in the floor) . Probably only 7 or 8 feet from one end of the rug. While we were doing that task, we shook the rug. After putting the rug back in place.

The diamond stud earring had fallen out out he depths of the fabric to the surface. It was visually seen on top of the fibers in the white carpet. Successful recovery that took more than an hour and a half. Brittney was more than ecstatic, happy to this special gift back where it belongs. This could have very well been vacuumed up or stuck in this carpet forever.

WEDDING BAND LOST IN BATON ROUGE, LA-FOUND

Carrie and Sid got a call from Morgan on Labor Day. Her husband of less than one year had lost his wedding band while working in their yard. He had many tasks so the ring could be in any of the four flower beds, garden, yard around the driveway, two potted plants or the trash can where plants and shrimp shells had been tossed. We each headed in different directions and began the search. The metal flower bed borders were the biggest problem. Lots of hunting was by pin pointer. After an hour, Carrie got a good signal on the grass a foot from a flower bed. Found! Needless to say, Morgan was excited and their marriage is now safe.

2 Rings Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned on Ocean Isle Beach, NC

I saw a post on one of the Face Book pages I’m a member of saying, “Does anyone have a metal detector I could borrow tomorrow morning? We’re staying on the west side and have lost a ring in the sand…” I responded saying “If I can help, call me.” I also attached the link to my blog on TheRingFinders.com web site. Within a few minutes, I received a text from Morgan asking what my rates were and whether I was available the next morning. I told her that I do this on a gratuity or reward basis and I’m available at any time. We agreed that I’d meet her between 8-8:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Sept 7th.

When I arrived I met Morgan in the driveway of their rental and she explained what happened on our way out to the beach. She said that she had put 3 rings in the cup holder of one of the beach chairs. Later that day, as they were going in for the day, her sister picked up the chairs and the rings went flying. With a family search, 1 of the rings was found lying on top of the sand; the other 2 had disappeared and were buried. Morgan’s mother had joined us on the beach and pointed out the suspected 15-20 foot square area. After a few grid lines, I hit dual signals which meant both rings were in the same spot, inches apart. I took a scoop of sand and dumped it out on the beach. When I did, I saw Morgan’s Silver and Gold ring packed in the sand. This one had sentimental value, as it was a college graduation present. I reached down and picked it up, cleaned out the sand, then held it up for Morgan to see. She came running over, very excited, with a huge smile on her face. I handed her the 1st ring and now to find the 2nd one. I turned back around to the sand pile and Bingo; there it was sticking out of the sand. Both rings are back where they belong with another chapter to add to their stories.

Lost 14K White Gold Wedding Band, Found Afton Virginia (Charlottesville)

While vacationing in Ocean City Maryland this past week I received a call from a customer who was trying to locate his wife’s 14K white gold wedding band with diamonds. As I wasn’t due to arrive back in Leesburg until the next day we coordinated for me to make the 2 1/2 hour trip to his home in Afton on Sunday. Stephan did borrow a friend’s metal detector and gave it a valiant attempt, but he was not able to locate the ring.

On Sunday I traveled to Stephan’s home in Afton Virginia..West of Charlottesville, a gorgeous drive through some very scenic mountain areas in Southern Virginia.

Once I arrived Stephan gave me a brief story of how the ring was lost and possibly where he thought it might be. I started my search close to the house hoping the ring wasn’t too far away, we moved a small wood pile out of the way so I could get a nice pathway cleared and I conducted a grid search across the front yard several times, only hitting mostly iron/trash items. There was also a lot of interference in the area n ext to the house so I had to change the frequency settings on the Equinox 800 down to 20khz to get a cleaner signal. After not locating the ring near the home I expanded my search to a field across a small gravel driveway in front of their home. I did three wide grid passes, each about 30/40 yards in length in the field and on the third line hit a nice bang tone of 8 on the detector, as most know this is typically a white gold range. As I knelt down and moved the tall grass out of the way the beautiful white gold ring showed itself to be saved.

 

As I was getting up from the ground, Stephan was coming out of the house. I raised my hand with the ring and he yelled, « you found it!? » …and came running across the front yard, injured leg or not he was trying to run as fast as he could to see the ring. Stephan was so elated that he gave me a big bear hug, this is saying a lot for a guy his size!!

 

Stephan and his wife were ecstatic to have the ring returned and I couldn’t be happier to bring this joy back to them and have the matching set back together.
