Diamond Engagement Ring .. Found .. San Clemente, CA. Beach

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Alexis and Andrew had gone to San Clemente State Beach on Saturday 1/17/15. They walked about three hundred yards south of the main entrance to set up for the day. Before going out in the water Alexis still had her engagement ring on her finger. She put it into the pocket of her blouse and carefully laid it with the rest of their belongings. When they began to leave she picked up her blouse and decided to hang it on her backpack, forgetting that the ring was in the pocket. After walking several blocks through the sand to get to their car she went to get her ring from the pocket and it was not there. Andrew, Alexis and their friends looked through the immediate area with their hands, but it could have fallen out during the long walk to the car. They gave up the search. After returning home Alexis went on line locating TheRingFinders.com .

imageimage I received the call at about 3:30pm while detecting at Huntington Beach. It took me awhile to walk a half mile to my car, but I was able to me Alexis and Andrew at 5pm. We talked about the circumstances leading to the loss of the ring. I explained to them how my equipment works. Some people think metal detectors can find things several feet from the coil. Other people do not believe the work for such small items as rings. I knew it was possible to search the long walk back to the parking lot, but the best place to start would be where she picked up her blouse. Sometimes other persons move an item containing the ring or keys not knowing something was hidden inside. I set up an area to grid search about 40’x30′.. Making six passes parallel to the beach with out success, I setup my CTX 3030 to beach mode – all metal and began a cross grid. The next move would have been the long walk back to the parking area. (time consuming and the sun was setting). Three 30 foot passes to and from the water I got a nice 12-02 signal. Calling Alexis over to see the signal and hear the sound, I told her this is your ring and I scooped it. It was a beautiful ring. She dropped to her knees in tears of joy. Andrew also came over to thank me telling me that he had all but given up on ever seeing their ring again. It was a great day and I got another lesson of humility. It is a game of inches and it pays to cross check.

White Gold Engagement Ring Recovered In Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland

  • from Terjarv (Finland)

Laura celebrated her 40th birthday with friends and bathed in a hot tub and made snow angels in the snow. Later the same day, Laura noticed that her engagement ring was gone. So next day she tried to search for the ring with a spade and rake.

I spoke with Laura on the phone and told her that I can come to Muhos to search for the ring, she was wery relieved to hear that.I packed my XP Deus and my Pinpointer in the car and started early because i had a three hour journey ahead of me.

I arrived at Laura’s house and she showed me the place where they’ve been bathing, I took my metal detector out of the car and studied the area first, and began to search. It was plus degrees and the snow was really heavy and after a few minutes I got a really good signal, was quite sure it was a gold signal. Started searching with Pinpointer And there was the ring!

Showed Laura the ring and she was really surprised to see the ring and hugged me and Thanked me several times.

afterwards she told me that she had not even been able to tell her husband that she had lost the ring until I called and told her that I could come and search for the ring.

Lost Silver Pendant on soccer field….Found! Sanford, Florida!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

DSCF2277DSCF2271How many people have been given a very special gift only to loose it shortly after receiving it?  Jared got a unique gift from his mother for Christmas–a silver pendant– and lost it two days later while playing soccer!  He is a good friend of mine and knows that I enjoy helping people find their lost rings and things.  And the field where he lost his pendant is just across the street from where we live so I figured in my spare time I could begin a grid search of the 70X50 yard field.  So early the next evening I set up my Whites DFX in Coin and Jewelry mode and started down the middle of the field.  And as it was a very recent drop and the pendant being silver I figured it would give a loud signal and be just under the grass.  Sure enough on my 5th pass down center field, there hidden in the grass was Jared’s pendant!  So glad to help out and thanks Jared for the reward!

Metal Found In Ora et Labora Game Box

  • from Aurora (Colorado, United States)

Unusual Metal Detector Request

Received an unusual phone call to metal detect a brand new board game.  Ora & Labora board game has highly prized metal game pieces in the older version but the newer version has plastic. Without removing the plastic shrink wrap, Todd was wanting to know if the game he had purchased for a friend had the metal pieces as opposed to the plastic ones. Good news, we found metal! We just hope its the right metal:)

White gold wedding band found in Denver, Colorado

  • from Denver (Colorado, United States)

On December 13th David and his wife had a small gathering of friends at their house, one of their friends brought their dog. David being the kind of guy he is, didn’t want the dog to be left alone in the back yard so he spent some time playing with the dog. While playing with the pup David noticed that his wedding band was missing and he went back inside to see if it was there, no luck. The whole of the party then went into the back yard and searched for David’s missing ring, no luck again. Photos from earlier in the day show that David had the ring on so the window of opportunity for the rings loss were narrow. David spent several hours over the next few weeks searching the back yard. Due to snow fall and the holiday season the search for David’s ring had to take a back seat till warmer weather.

On January 16th David found my profile on TheRingFinders.com and he contacted me about searching for his ring. We set up a date and time for me to conduct the search of Sunday the 18th at 10:00AM. Upon arrival at their home David took me to the back yard and gave me a run down of the events. My search area was the side yard which was pretty small and the back yard a nice size yard for an older home. I knew the search wouldn’t take too long as the yard wasn’t expansive. I pulled out my V3i and prepared it for the search, upon starting the machine I could hear all kinds of electrical inference from the overhead power, phone and cable lines. Luckily I had my trust old MXT with me as well so I prepared that machine for the search. After a few potential targets that turned out to be pulltabs my MXT let out a signal that was truly different than any of the others, the pinpoint let me know it was a surface target. I pulled back the grass and there sat a pretty silver colored ring. I pulled the ring from it’s hiding place and hollered for David. He was quite happy to get his ring back and was quite surprised at the speed of recovery, this search lasted less than 5 minutes. David mentioned that this recovery saved him 50 or so years of grief from his wife. We talked a bit, shot some photos and I was on my way home by 10:30. It was a great way to start off a Sunday.

Lost Wedding Ring Houston, Texas (Recovered)

  • from Sugar Land (Texas, United States)

01-15-2014

I received the following e-mail from Darren regarding his wife’s lost wedding band.

Hello John:

I am writing to inquire about obtaining your help after reading your blog posts in locating a ring lost in the front yard of a house near downtown Houston. Please let me know if you are interested in helping us locate the ring and when you might be available.
My wife lost the ring while playing with our child in the front yard while bagging leaves about one month ago. She realized she lost the rings and we were able to locate the engagement ring but not the wedding band. The wedding band is somewhere in about a 10 x 25 foot flat grass section bounded on all sides by cement sidewalk (see attached picture). I can identify where the wedding ring was found within that plot as a starting location. Three of us searched the grassy area that day with hands over the grass but were not able to locate the wedding band. The wedding band is a rather standard platinum band. We found you through the ring finders website, which is a rather unique concept. Most mornings I would also be able to meet with you at the location, but I do have occasional office meetings scheduled in the morning. We appreciate your assistance. Please let me know if you need more information.

I met Darren and his wife Keri at their residence this morning in Houston. Keri outlined a very specific area of the yard where she had been working when she lost her ring.

As you can see from the pictures it was a good day.

Lost Ring Found Near Shakopee Minnesota

  • from Twin Cities Metro (Minnesota, United States)

imageMarian and her husband were visiting their friends in southern Minnesota on a cold winter day. The wind chill temperatures had dropped to nearly 30 below zero! When leaving that evening, Marian, removed her glove to retrieve her car keys. Hurried by the cold, she flung the car door open. Within an instant her engagement ring along with her wedding band went flying into the dark cold night. Friends frantically searched the area with flashlights but could not stand the cold long enough to locate the rings. The next morning, they rented a metal detector from their local hardware store and managed to find the wedding band; however, the platinum and diamond engagement ring could not be found. Marian called The Ring Finder, J.R., and he agreed to make the 2 hour drive to help locate the ring in below zero, blizzard like conditions. Once bundled up, J.R. began the search. The area was filled with many false signals, but he knew once he heard the correct tone on his metal detector, he had found the ring. He brushed away the snow-packed ground to reveal Marian’s ring, not far from where the car was parked. Her face lit up with smiles and gratitude as J.R. presented the ring to her and she placed it back on her hand where hopefully it shall never leave again! If you or anyone you know has lost a ring in the Minnesota area, please call J.R. (763-670-5544) to help you get your sentimental items back. If you are outside of Minnesota, check The Ring Finders directory, for a ring finder near you.

Ring Found on Large Property .. Corona, Calif.

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

imageJason called me Saturday evening from home in Corona, Calif. asking if I could help him. His friend had told him about TheRingFinders. He noticed his wedding ring missing after six hours of doing chores around his large property. Jason had spent a day and a half retracing all his activities in search of his wedding band. He lives on a large piece of property and had been doing a lot of work in almost every part of his yard. Almost everything he had been doing could have caused his ring to slip from his finger. He was taking down Christmas lighting decorations from his two story house, fences and trees. Dealing with hundreds of feet of cords coiling them up then putting them in storage boxes. He also took the Christmas tree from the house cutting off all the limbs to put them in large trash containers. On top of all that work he spend time cleaning his pool. All these activities were done without gloves and all these activities were the type of movements that would cause a ring to slip off a finger.

During my 45 minute drive to Corona, my mind pictured a large property with a tough time consuming search. It’s more or less an adventure to go to an unknown location to search for a ring. Once getting to the location you need to ask as many questions as you can think of to narrow search area. The big decision is, « Where do you start ? » The last thing would be to empty all the trash from the containers and run the detector over the contents.

When I met Jason he took at least 15 minutes showing and explaining all the things he had done before noticing his ring missing. I can’t believe all the things he had been doing that morning he lost the ring. I put together a plan of attack to start in the backyard. My car was out front with my metal detector so I got my Minelab CTX 3030 set up. That’s when I changed my mind and began to tune up my detector in the front yard where Jason had taken decoration lights off a small tree. Guess what! Yes! White gold wedding band deep in the grass. 15 minutes to find it. This happens quite often at the beach, but not in situations where people notice the ring missing after hours sense that last remember seeing it. A little side note.. I’ve found several men’s wedding bands. Most the time the wife is more concerned about finding the ring. Most the time the wife calls. Sometimes the guys say they are in the dog house for losing the ring. In Jason’s case he was sincerely concerned about finding his ring. I got high fives and a big man hug. Thanks Jason for letting me help you..

Longboat Key Wedding Band Recovery

Steve, his wife Nancy, daughter Nicole, and son-in-law Aaron came down from Chicago to escape the cold winter weather up north. Aaron was setting in a lounge chair enjoying the sun and decided it was time to get some sun lotion on. He pulled his wedding band off his hand and set it on his lap and proceeded to spread the sun lotion on his body. Before he could finish he received a phone call and was deep in conversation when he stood up and began to pace in the sand. Suddenly he realized that he had forgotten about the ring in his lap. He and the whole family searched frantically in the sand and Aaron even dug a deep wide hole where he believed it should be. They searched to no avail for a couple hours until it was time for Aaron and Nicole to leave for the airport.

Steve and Nancy stayed and later that day were talking to one of the pool staff about losing the ring. He mentioned that they should Google the internet for someone that might have a metal detector and would come and help search for the ring. Steve found Ring Finders and then picked SRARC to contact. Tom Jones called Mike Miller to see if he was available and Mike responded right away. Steve and Nancy meet Mike at the site and had an area of about 20 sq. ft. marked out in which they thought the ring must be. In about 10 minutes Mike heard the sound of a ring and sure enough out it came on the first dig.

There were lots of smiles to go around. Steve called Aaron right away and he was very happy and relieved that we had recovered his ring. I just never get tired of seeing the smiles when we are able to return a sentimental piece to the owner.

Cape Cod beach holds wedding band for 5 months

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

When it is meant to be it will happen.

A call for help finding a unique wedding band came in and I went, not once but several times with no success in finding it. August, September, October, and November came and went with no sign of the ring. I was feeling that some other detectorist may have found it, With so many visiting detectorist to Cape Cod there is no way I could ever hope to hear or read of the majority of items found.

My detecting partner of 4 years took off this summer to plant his roots in Florida. Why? To get away from the cold winters and enjoy the warmer waters. Why else? Most of his family still resides in New England and I was to enjoy his company on occasion when he would come north for the holidays and family visits. Such as the case was in December. Of course we were to get some detecting time in and to look for a lost ring. Three hours and about time to leave the cold water, Dick dug his last signal for the year…it was to be Jonathan’s ring that had survived the onslaught of detectorists and my effort to locate it.

Five days later Jon showed up on my doorstep for his ring and to pose for a photo. Jon was sporting a “replacement non-precious” metal ring that he plans to wear it on all future beach adventure, leaving his special band home in a safe place. I could not have asked for a better way to end one year and start the next. Sometimes a good thing just takes a while to come together for a Happy New Year!Jon1320 JonRing1318
