Platinum Engagement Ring Lost in San Francisco, CA…Found!!!

Bay Area Ring Finders: Brendon Chapman… Metal Detecting Service/Call ASAP     925-580-2590

When Danett was told that she couldn’t wear any jewelry to a recent procedure, she gave pause to whether or not to leave her ring behind. What would she do with her engagement ring? The item came with a proposal this last New Years Eve exactly 1 year after meeting her fiance.  It was brand new and very sentimental, and leaving it behind just didn’t seem right. Begrudgingly she removed her Platinum engagement ring and placed it on the night stand inside her studio…or did she?

I was contacted by Danett after my friend and colleague Jes past along my information.  Her Platinum engagement ring was missing and herself, her fiance, and a friend had all searched for the special item with no luck.  Things were getting desperate despite the fiance being very calm about it and the ring being insured.  I told her that I was glad to assist in any way I could and the following evening I headed to San Francisco for the search.  I brought all manner of tools and equipment not knowing what the search might hold.

Early on it was revealed that there were pets involved and I suspected they might have played a role in the missing ring.  I owe Angel, their dog, an apology.  I was almost certain he had possibly lapped up the ring. Detecting over his favorite potty spots cleared his name.

After an hour of searching the little studio, Danett shouted « I found it!!! »  The ring was in a cardboard ring box that once sat on the nightstand.  It was moved to a shelf during initial searches for the missing ring.  We had made the recovery!!!

Danett was very kind and sweet.  She had told me that she was extremely distressed about the missing engagement ring, but you would have never known it. She told me that my demeanor and confidence kept her calm and focused so we could smoothly and systematically search and that having a professional there soothed her nerves. Ultimately, the ring was found and that was the common goal we shared.  She was very happy to be reunited with her ring and I felt joy in play some part in the story this item now continues to tell.

Best wishes to the couple and my new friend Angel the dog!

Lost and found cellphone in Brighton Ontario

  • from Cobourg (Ontario, Canada)

I was contacted through Facebook when Sage lost her cellphone at a parking lot near a conservation area in Brighton. The bad news is that she had lost it over a week ago. After exchanging information and Google earth pictures, I headed over and was able to locate her phone in about six inches of snow. The good news, although the screen was cracked, the phone was still working. Even better, within the case of the phone, was her driver’s licence and various credit cards. She was very happy and grateful to be reunited with her phone and cards. Another happy ending.

Engagement Ring Lost & Found in the Deep Depths of the Couch in Moreno Valley!

  • from Corona (California, United States)

If you lost your ring or other valuable in the Inland Empire of Southern California, call or text me ASAP! Ron Wilton 951-415-6007!
I received a call from Alexandra (“Alex”) who told me she had lost her engagement ring in the living room of her house. Alex said she was on her recliner couch with a blanket across her. She took off her rings and set them on the arm of the couch to put lotion on her hands. As she got up she noticed her wedding band on the floor, but was unable to find her single-diamond engagement ring. Alex and her husband did a thorough and lengthy search of the couch, the blanket, the floor, and the adjacent recliner couch, but to no avail. She then went online and found me on The Ringfinders website. We agreed on a time and I went to the house. Alex had to leave prior to my arrival, but her husband, Edwin, was there. He told me they had searched and searched for the ring but could not find it. He said, “I can’t believe it just disappeared”. I was a bit surprised to, as there were hard wood floors, just the two couches and a rack for their DVD’s in the living room. So I began searching the couch, eventually helping Edwin flip it over so I could check all the nooks and crannies underneath with my flashlight. After several minutes I was having no luck. I did the same to the other couch. I checked the floor, and Edwin moved out the DVD rack so I could check behind it. Nothing. I was getting frustrated and echoed Edwin’s “I can’t believe it just disappeared!” statement. I felt I had done a thorough search and I had a feeling it may have fallen back inside the couch which would entail removing the bottom fabric. But Alex had already done that. So before leaving frustrated, I began checking the couch again, pushing back the fabric next to the arm where Alex had been sitting. I was checking it with a strong flashlight and deep down I caught a small bright reflection. I had gotten reflections earlier from some of the fabric staples but this one seemed a little brighter. So I called Edwin over and said “What does that look like to you?” with the flashlight shining on it. “That’s it!” he yelled. But it was deep into the couch and was stuck between a fabric-covered piece of wood and the side. Getting it out would be a challenge. Edwin got a long-nosed pliers and tried getting the ring out. No luck. He then got a butter knife, no luck. He called his son as he has small hands. No luck. I took the butter knife and gave it a try. I tried to push the ring sideways and it suddenly popped onto the knife. I slowly slid it up and asked Edwin’s son if he could grab it before it fell back down, which he did. Edwin was extremely happy and said Alex had been crying very hard when they couldn’t find it. Edwin thanked me and I was on my way. I later received a text from Alex saying “My husband gave me the great news, thank you soooo much” and sent me this photo! Glad I could help.

Lost Ring Found…. AGAIN!!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

My first ring recovery of 2023 is also another kind of first. This is the first time I have been called on to find the same ring for a second time. A little over two years ago Brenda and Henry called me to come out and find Henry’s 1968 University of Alabama class ring that had come off while putting out pine straw at their home in Gulf Shores. Henry had saved my number in his Rolodex so when it happened again in the exact same scenario, he knew who to call. Henry and I were talking to each other and he looked on as I set my machine to the area he was pretty sure that it had come off in. The first tone I got I explained was an iron tone and told him that I was pretty sure I remembered his ring was a 12-36 on my machine. Not thirty seconds later I got a strong 12-32. As I reached down and uncovered his ring, I told him that I wasn’t far off on the number and I would take it after 2 years. 😃. Henry was ecstatic as I gave him his ring back. I told him to keep a close eye on his ring this time but if he lost it again just give me a call and I’d be right there for the next time. It was a pleasure seeing you again Henry, give Brenda my best!

Ocean City NJ Lost Gold West Point Class Ring Found by Ring Finders South Jersey John Favano

Lost a ring?

Don’t wait to call!

215-850-0188

I received a call on Wednesday night about Matt’s West Point class ring. His ring slipped off his finger while he was playing with his children in the ocean. I met him and his wife on the beach in Ocean City, NJ at low tide to start the search. I gridded the ocean, eventually gridding up to chest-deep water in an area with swimmers, Boogie Boarders and breaking waves. After almost an hour without a signal, I finally heard the tone I was waiting for…the tone of the gold ring. I dropped the scoop in the sand and was able to pull it up on the first attempt.

Thank you Matt for your service!

Missing Key Fob Found in Snow! – Brookfield, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

Brookfield resident, Kelly, texted me to ask if I might help find a set of keys and fob. Kelly and his wife had turned the house upside down looking for them, unsuccessfully. Now, he wondered if the keys might be in the snow in his backyard. He had moved some firewood and played with his dog on the day the keys went missing. Did they fall out of his jacket pocket?

Kelly used a rake to comb through the snow in a large area of his yard but did not find the missing key fob. He even entertained the idea of renting a metal detector. That’s when he discovered me on The Ring Finders website.

It was very, very cold when I arrived at Kelly’s home that night, 5 below zero Fahrenheit (minus 20 Celsius). Even my detector screen was slow to register in the frigid temperatures. I could see where Kelly had been searching and raking through the snow.

Scanning the same area failed to turn up the lost keys. But in the course of our conversation, Kelly mentioned having been in a different area of the yard with his dog at one point. He had reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a toy for the dog. Throwing the toy out into the snow, the dog fetched it back as was his custom. And so, we redirected our search efforts in that area.

I scanned the snow in the vicinity where Kelly had been standing. Sure enough, his key fob appeared just beneath the snow! It had fallen out of his pocket when he pulled out the toy for his dog. And the smile on Kelly’s face tells the rest of the story!

Thanks, Kelly, for the opportunity to solve the mystery of your missing key fob.

Snowball Wedding Ring Found! – Greenfield, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

Greenfield, WI resident, Jessica, couldn’t resist the temptation to toss snowballs at her friends. A late January snowstorm provided ideal conditions for joining in the excitement. Sadly, afterwards when she got into her car, her wedding ring was gone! Jessica’s heart sank to her boots. Scouring the snow failed to turn up her precious ring. That’s when she texted me.

I learned the ring had been fitting loosely and so this, combined with the cold snow, contributed to the ring coming off her hand. But it could be anywhere! I arranged to meet Jessica on location and together we walked through the scenario, doing our best to recreate the events as accurately as possible. I scanned the lawn area where she had been standing but the ring was nowhere to be found. Next, I moved to the driveway where several vehicles were parked. This presented a significant challenge because the concrete was heavily reinforced with iron. Anytime I moved the detector near the driveway it was overwhelmed by the iron signals, making it almost impossible to detect a small ring. This called for drastic measures.

Checking the closest vehicles carefully, I made sure the ring wasn’t resting on them anywhere. Then I began shoveling sections of the driveway, moving the snow onto to the lawn area previously scanned. Scraping the driveway bare, right down to the concrete, I made sure the ring was not missed. I had almost finished clearing the driveway and was checking the snow with my detector when I picked up a faint signal consistent with that of a gold wedding band. Scraping off the snow a layer at a time, the signal grew in intensity. Finally, I probed the target area with a pinpointing device and landed on what turned out to be Jessica’s beautiful wedding ring! And the smile on Jessica’s face tells the rest of the story!

So glad to have found your ring, Jessica!

Lost Garmin Watch Found in Snow! – Wauwatosa, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

A late January snowstorm resulted in Wauwatosa, WI resident, Natalie Schneckloth, having an impromptu workout when she shoveled several inches of snow off her driveway and sidewalk. In the process and unbeknown to her, the stainless-steel clasp on Natalie’s Garmin watch let go. Only later did she discover her beloved watch missing.

The next day I received a text message from Natalie asking if I might be able to help. After a subsequent phone call and a line of forensic-type questioning, I arranged to meet Natalie on location. My detector of choice in this situation was an XP Deus 2 with a smaller 9” coil. It performs well in all kinds of terrain and conditions, both on land and in the water. Now, I’ve discovered, it works extremely well in snow thanks to its fast multi-frequency technology.

Scanning the banks of the long driveway failed to pick up any signals consistent with Natalie’s watch. But when I moved to the piles of snow lining her front sidewalk, a signal well above ground level invited further investigation. I subsequently probed deep into the snow using a hand-held pinpointing device which vibrates whenever it senses a metallic object. It didn’t take long to locate the source of the signal. As it turned out, it was Natalie’s lost, but now found, Garmin watch!

So glad to have solved the mystery of your missing watch, Natalie!
