Judy sent me a text yesterday at supper, she had lost here white gold diamond wedding ring in her back while untangling the dogs chain it was dark out side. She was distraught over loose. They purchased a cheap metal detector from Canadian
Tire but had no luck finding the lost 1 carat ring. She googled and found my info on The Ring Finders Website.

I called Judy immediately and arranged to meet her the next day at her home in Regina. When I arrived Judy showed the approximate area in the snow that it was fell of her finger. the out side Temperature was -14 and the was about 2 inches on the ground. The ring was found 10 feet from the original location and rang up a solid 44 on the AT Gold.

Judy was very happy and could not believe I had found it.

I received a call from Shawn who lost his wedding band during a swim race against his brother last summer at their family camp in Otisfield, Maine. I was unable to locate the ring on my first search and after being haunted by this for some time  I decided to get permission to return to the site for another try which resulted in a successful recovery in about 8 ft of water.  I mailed the ring to Shawn who was back home in Connecticut, happy to have closed this cold case on a brisk fall afternoon.

The same choices made everyday are often the same choices made right before one might lose their ring. Likewise for Jamie, when her husband had come home she brought out her two wound up dogs for their moonlight walk. The air’s cool grip clung on tight that night but never the less when the walk was finished the dogs, Jamie’s husband and Jamie all had fun playing around in the pile of leaves. The playing in the leaves came to a close and the family retired back into the house. Upon a quick glance and with a rapid heart beat « my ring is missing » slipped out of Jamie’s mouth. The search was on. Flashlights and retraced steps left both Jamie and her husband at a loss. The next morning the dogs where lethargic with Jamie’s sadness. The only thing Jamie could possibly do was surfed the web for answers. The Knot, a wedding website, told her to call The Ring Finders. So Jamie sent me a frantic text, « I lost my ring are you still available? » I quickly called her and talked about the unfortunate night she had been through and then made arrangements to meet her after work. I knew that the ring could be anywhere in the leaves, on the path they took, in the yard, or on someone else’s hand. Hopeful I took off on my search. A quick pass in the pile of leaves, a stroll through the yard and back in the pile of leaves lead me straight to her ring. With a bit of confidence I looked over my shoulder at Jamie walking beside me and gave her a smile.  » If this signal isn’t your ring I’ll be surprised, »I said. I bent down and slowly pulled back the pile of leaves and revealed Jamie’s lost ring. I got a call from a man on Saturday morning. He lost a Platinum wedding band . I rushed to go meet him at deerfield beach after searching for hours I was able to recover it ..He was so happy to receive his wedding band back.

Lost Mercedes Car Key Strands Couple in Laguna Beach,CA. .. Ringfinder Saves the Day

***  Ricky called me from Laguna Beach, CA. with a desperate request to help him find his only Mercedes car key. It would take five days to and more that $500 to replace the key including the towing fee. To make things worse,  he was on vacation and lives in Las Vegas, NV.

I only asked two questions #1 .. were the keys lost in dry sand and  #2.. can you be there to show me the general location. He said the sand was not wet when the keys were lost but the overnight tide had come up over the area. I met Ricky a half hour at Picnic Cove , Laguna Beach, CA. where he showed me he had set his pants on the sand the night before. He believed his electronic key had fallen out of the back pocket when he picked them up. Although he didn’t discover the keys missing until he got back to his car more than a half hour later.

The tide was receding but still difficult to search. I did a preliminary scan of the upper beach. These were actually a single electronic key fob without any other keys. It’s hard to predict if the key fob would settle under the sand or be pulled further down into the surf. Regular keys or a heavy mans wedding band would normally go straight down into the sand. I couldn’t guarantee that the key fob would still be in the area.

I stayed at the beach for four hours till the tide was low. After a thorough grid search, I found the key 40ft. to the south and approximately 40ft. down the slope under 4”or  5” inches of sand. I rinsed them off in fresh water then texted Ricky the good news. He wa
s there with a big smile and the real miracle was, the key still worked to start his Mercedes after 14 hours in salt water.

I learn something with every type of search and it was certainly special to help him and his lady. Get on the road again.

Key searches can be a problematic because people usually lose them while on a long walk or jogging. Many times other people find them first and don’t know how to return them to the owner. “Suggestion” put a name tag on your Keys and Celphone with you contact information.  There are a lot of honest people out there. Give them a chance to find you.

Lost Gold Family Heirloom Ring at Kaiaka Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a text from Anika who lives on the North Shore of Oahu. While throwing a ball to her dog at the beach Anika felt her Grandmother’s heirloom ring come off and she wasn’t quite sure what trajectory it went. She thought it could be in the dry sand to the shallow water. We decided to meet early the next morning at Kaiaka Beach. When I arrived Anika pointed out the area between two trees and out towards the water. I started my search on the dry sand and worked towards the water. Thankfully the beach was fairly sterile of metal trash. I finished the dry sand area quickly and was working down the steep slope to the crashing surf below. Please God don’t make me go in there. About a third of the way down the slope I got a 17-18 nice solid tone on the Equinox and in one scoop there was Anika’s precious ring. She burst into tears when I showed her the ring. She had mentioned that their was a rainbow on the water when she arrived at the beach this morning and she thought that was a sign for a successful recovery. A little prayer went a long way too. Wedding Band Lost in the Dry Sand, Found and Returned at Ocean Isle Beach NC

My wife and I had just sat down and ordered dinner when I got a text message saying “Hi, is this Jim the ring finder?” I called the number and talked to Blythe, who stated she was on the beach taking photos and when she stood up and brushed the sand off her pants, her Tungsten wedding ring went flying. I told her that I’d be there between 9:30 and 10.

After dinner, I dropped my wife off at home, grabbed my gear, texted Blythe telling her I’d be there in about 30 minutes. When I got to the beach, I met Blythe, Cassi and their dog, Jasper. It was very dark as we made our way out to the beach and the area both Blythe and Cassi were sure they were when Blythe’s ring came off. I turned my Equinox 800 on, literally took two steps and got a solid 17 on the machine. I knew I had Blythe’s Tungsten ring. This is the type of ring searches we pray for – lost in the dry sand, and the owner putting us in the exact spot! I scooped the sand up, checked the hole and knew I had the ring in the scoop. As I shook the sand out of the scoop, I heard the familiar sound of a metal ring clanging in the bottom of the scoop. Cassie and Blythe heard it too. I walked over to Blythe, holding the scoop out for her to pluck her wedding band out. Cassie kept saying “you found it already?” Big smiles and hugs, and I think Jasper even got a little excited.

Blythe and Cassie, thank you for trusting me to help find your lost treasure! Have a great rest of your trip and a safe drive home.

Lost in Snow a 22K Yellow Gold Recovered in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The first snow of the season, although a bit early, creates another opportunity to help someone. Received a call that his wife had lost her 22K gold wedding band while walking in the first snow of the season. Even though it was late afternoon, they wanted me to come. I figured maybe 2 hours before sunset, so I was a little concerned.

I arrives at 3:58 and left at 4:10. Not a bad hunt! The husband had a similar ring, so I was able to get a reading. Her name was in raised letters, so I will not show that. I used my AT Gold detector with a large coil. As you can see this was not a small thin ring!! Usually in my experience, gold rings ring up in the 44-55 range. This ring, because of the 22K, rang up in the 69-75 range. Just a note for AT Gold users.

***  Justin and his friends were at El PortoBeach, one of the Los Angeles County Beaches. They had been throwing a football at the waters edge when Justin’s wedding ring flew off his finger. After an hour of searching with no success, got on line where he located my phone number.

Phone calls are recommended to give you the best possible chance for a successful recovery of your lost sentimental keepsake. Craig was working in his yard raking leaves. After he came inside he discovered he lost his Custom Wedding Ring. After renting a detector and having no luck, he searched the internet and contacted me. I arranged to meet him and after less than 1 hour, Craig had his ring back.
An awesome ending, I love my job.
