Someone tagged me in a post on Facebook about a gold bracelet that was lost yesterday in Sea Isle City, NJ.  Pat didn’t realize his bracelet was missing until he was home later that day. He thought it may have gotten caught on his umbrella while packing up and dropped in the sand.  He gave me the area where he was sitting and it was recovered in around 20 minutes! This young man lost a very special silver pendant at Jericho Beach, three days later he reaches out for help. We made arrangements to meet at the beach unfortunately it would have to be after I finished work, so we set up a time for 1:30 AM to search for the silver pendant.

After meeting Vinny and his sister and her boyfriend in the early hours of the morning we walked along the beach to the area where he lost his pendant. After removing a lot of trash in the area I begin my search for almost two hours, after cleaning out all the target signals except for one big iron target, I decided to move all the sand away from the Iron and that was a good thing as Murphy’s Law would have it… I found his pendant which was right on top of the iron target.

Close to 3:30 AM I was able to surprise Vinny with his cherished silver pendant…

Lost Ring in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania… Found!

  • from Altoona (Pennsylvania, United States)

Kurt called me up and told me his fiance’ Angela lost her ring while playing Frisbee with their dog, Bear. The grassy area she lost it in was a somewhat challenging search area. Woods bordered one side of a rather narrow plateau walkway with a sloping hill and long grass to the other side. Since Kurt and Angela had searched most of the day before and even into the night with flashlights, my fear was the ring had flown off her finger and landed somewhere on either side of the path. Luckily after about 20 minutes of searching, I got a good signal and was able to spot her ring in the grass and return it to them.

I couldn’t have asked to meet nicer people today. Kurt is a very pleasant young man and his lovely fiance’ Angela came outside afterwards to express her gratitude to Julie and I for finding her ring. Even Bear was happy and jumping all over us although I guess that’s just what dogs do. He seemed excited though. In yet another realization of how strange things are now living in the COVID 19 social distancing era,  Angela said she was so relieved and wanted to give me a hug but said she’d respect the six feet rule. Even though I missed the handshakes and hugs that usually go along with a successful recovery, I’m happy to have helped out Kurt and Angela (and Bear) in their time of need and wish them luck and happiness.

Diamond Engagment Ring Lost in Laguna Beach, Recovered in Sand

  • from Seal Beach (California, United States)

On Thursday late afternoon I got a call from a woman named Lauren who lost her ring on Monday in South Laguna Beach who was spending time with her family by the fire pits. Because it was a few days later, she did not think there was a chance that her diamond engagement ring could be found. She asked me if there was any chance, and I told her there was always a chance.   I drove down to the beach at around 4:30 am to get there early, so that the tides would be right and not too high up on the beach. I swung my coil a few times and after digging a few nails near the fire pits, I heard a solid signal, dug it up, and there was her beautiful diamond ring. Lauren and her family got to the beach about half an hour later and she was ecstatic to see that I had actually found her ring. She thought it’d be like finding a needle in a haystack since the surf from the previous days had covered the fire pits where she had lost her ring. She hugged her husband and kids and was very happy to be reunited with her ring. Shortly after I was back on the road, hoping to beat traffic to head to work.

White Gold with Black Opal Ring Lost .. Huntington State Beach, CA. .. Found and Returned

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Laurel called me at about 8:30 pm after she returned home from a day at the beach that turned out to be ruined by the loss of her special white gold with a black opal engagement ring.
She put her ring into the pocket of her shorts for safe keeping. Before realizing the ring was missing she had been running in the shallow surf and up on the dry sand near their towels. They spent several hours searching the sand near where they were laying on the beach. After giving up and returning home to Brea, CA.

After talking to Laurel it sounded like I could attempt this search without her and her husband driving 30 miles to show me the location. As it was late and only a couple miles from my home.
The beach closes at 10pm. So I left right after the call. Walked out on the beach where Laurel had left a stick in the sand. I suspected that the most likely place for the ring to fall from her pocket was when she put her shorts on the towel area. If not it would take some time to grid the location. Picking a place to start is difficult sometimes but this time I was lucky. A few minutes and the beautiful white gold with black Opal ring was in my scoop.
I called Laurel with the good news. She and her fiancé, John drove to meet me late that night to retrieve the ring that was actually her engagement ring. She said that she wanted to be wearing it when they got married in August. It was so special to be able to help them.
