Lost wedding ring, Flagler Beach, Florida…..Found!

Tiger gave me a call after loosing his wedding ring in the sand at the beach. He could hardly believe that his ring just fell off of his finger so easy like! It all happened the day before as he and a friend were throwing the football just along the waters edge. As he went to catch the football, apparently the point of the ball hit him right on his ring finger and the impact knocked his ring right off into the sand. It all happened so fast that he did not see the exact direction his ring went flying, but he had the presence of mind to stop and take note of a few land marks. (That quick thinking would be a huge help to him in the end.) He searched the area as best as he could and even contemplated renting a metal detector but as he typed into Google…Flagler Beach metal detector rental…up came one of theringfinders stories about a recent successful lost ring search. So Tiger figured what better way to go, then to hire someone who has the equipment and experience to help him find his lost ring. Two hours later we met on the beach and Tiger showed me the small area where he was standing when he lost his wedding ring. I set out four corner flags and searched the small area anxiously awaiting that sweet, familiar signal. My first signal was a crusty penny and that got Tiger and his wife’s hearts racing! Nothing else showed up in the marked off area so I made a pass around the outside and there in the wet sand, with the water washing over my scoop, was Tiger’s lost ring. I quietly thanked God for helping me find their precious ring and could not help but smile to see the joy and happiness on their faces. Lost smart phone Port Hueneme Beach Found

We got out early to hit the beach at Port Hueneme. The area around the pier is a great place to metal detect as the beach is beautiful and it attracts lots of beach goers every summer. We were working the towel line on the north side of the pier collecting the usual bottle caps, pull tabs and coins when we decided to move up more towards the middle of the beach and walk back towards the pier.

I was sweeping my coil and I started to get multiple hits and I began to recover quarters, nickels and a few pennies all within a 6 foot circle. Knowing I was on a coin spill I started to widen out my circle and I got a large hit, dug down with my scoop and popped out a brand new Alcatel smart phone. Cell phones have become major parts of our lives so I knew I had to try and find it’s owner as I turned it on and there was still battery left meaning it had likely been lost the evening/day before. The phones identification was all in Spanish so I enlisted my hunting partner to see if his wife could lead us to the owner as she speaks fluent Spanish.

Two days later and we were able to make the return. It’s not a lost ring but when the average smart phone costs nearly as much as a 96 Honda Civic, a good return like this is worth it. Lupe had hundreds of pictures of her kids and family on it making this a priceless return.

Heirloom Diamond Wedding Ring Lost .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found in Sand

I was driving on the Balboa Penensula in Newport Beach after failed ring search when I received a call from Jaimee’s friend. She was at « G » St. on the beach and wanted to know if I was available. I had just  past that location and was four blocks away. I told her I could be there in 5 minutes, but parking on this July 4th holiday would be a problem. They live in the neighborhood so they had a place for me to park. (that’s a miracle).

A short walk on to the beach where they had a large group of friends set up for a big 4th of July beach party. I met Jaimee who showed me where she had lost her diamond wedding ring when she took it off to apply sunscreen. It was an irreplaceable family heirloom past down to her from her great grandmother.

They had the spot marked well but for the last two hours many of the people tried to find the ring. I set up my XP Deus with highest sensitivity and deep settings because it was a thin white gold band with diamonds. It showed up in my scoop after my first signal. Jaimee broke out in tears of gratitude giving me a big hug.

It was one of those times that I believe it wasn’t a coincidence that I was just around the corner when they called.

Lost iPhone in Sand .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found with Metal Detector

Chloe and her friends spent 3 hours searching the soft dry sand for her iPhone at Tower 22 in Newport Beach, CA. . Even though thay had activated the Find My IPhone app, the phone had stayed hidden below the sand.

One of Chloe’s friends found my contact information online. When I received the call, I was in my car with my metal detectors a couple miles away from them. The parking lot was full but just as I got to their location a space was open within 25 yards of where they were waiting for me.

The sun was setting and it was beginning to get cold. I started a grid search using my XP Deus metal detector. The phone was found within a few minutes probably 15 to 20ft south of the GPS location. Chloe was ecstatic and very grateful to have her phone back in her hands. All of her friends were also excited about the find after all the energy they burned up trying to find the phone. The smile tells it all.

Engagement Ring Lost .. Huntington State Beach, CA. .. Found in Sand

The first thing I do in the morning is check my emails. There was an email sent to me at 11:50pm last night from Hailey saying,  I was her last hope. Yesterday she was at Huntington State Beach between towers 3 and 4 when she lost her diamond engagement ring. I sent her a reply asking her to call me as soon as possible. There was enough information to drive to the location to begin a search.

About a half hour of grid searching a large area, I received a call from Hailey, she told me that she had given the ring to her husband to hold. He put the ring on his pinky finger. Before they left the beach he realized the ring was missing. Several of their friends spent hours search by hand with no success. Then they had to leave because the beach closes at 10 pm, so they left believing the ring was lost forever.

After hearing that story, I was now sure that her ring was in the sand near the towel line. I asked her if she remembered seeing a sand castle on the beach. She told me that they had build a sand castle and was surprised it was still there. That was the clue I needed. It took me a short time to find Hailey’s ring after the phone call. Calling her with the good news and sent her a photo of the ring. She told me how much this ring meant to her and that they still owed $3000 on it.

Hailey was 20 miles away in Anahiem which made it time consuming for her to drive to the beach. Also parking is $25 for this 4th of July weekend which I don’t have to pay because I have an annual State Beach parking pass.

It was a a pleasure to meet and return the beautiful ring to Hailey and her husband later that afternoon.

Lost college class ring, Lake Mary, Florida……found and returned!

Dave was spraying a mixture of cleaners on his two story home roof, hoping to kill some of the Florida mildew that was growing on his shingles. The pump sprayer he was using began to leak and his hand started to burn. The burning steadily got worse until he had to stop and he then noticed his fingers were actually beginning to bleed! So he tried shaking the liquid off of his hand and the motion caused his 2007 UCF class ring to go flying. Actually only three quarters of his ring went flying as his 14k gold ring had come apart in three pieces. Dave was able to see his ring, shining in the grass down below and after rinsing his hand he went to where he last saw his ring….but he could not find it anywhere. He tried raking the area hoping to bring it to the surface but still his ring remained hidden in the thick grass. Dave then went out and bought himself a small metal detector hoping that it would help locate his lost ring but still no luck. He then went on line and typed in « How to find a ring in the grass » and up popped theringfinders.com and one of the search stories. So he gave me a call and we discussed his situation and I felt quite confident that I could help him find his lost ring. Later that evening I met Dave and he showed me the small grassy area where he dropped his class ring off of the roof. I set my metal detector to the coin and jewelry mode and right away there was obvious electrical interference that caused the detector to chatter constantly. By switching to the Prospecting Mode I was able to begin searching the most likely areas. And sure enough I soon got a nice solid, repeatable signal with low numbers and it pinpointed very shallow. Dave was so grateful to get his lost ring back and it was great to see the joy and relief as he firmly shook my hand. I thanked God for another successful search and as I said my goodbyes, I was happy to have helped another needy person. Lost something recently? Maybe I can help! Lost Platinum ring while flying kite in Willow Park, Glenview, Illinois

While assembling a kite with his children, he lost his Platinum wedding band. He knew the area and had searched with a metal detector, and even went at night with a flashlight to search. I used my Minelab 3030 with a large coil. Found ring which had been stepped on and driven into ground in less than 20 minutes.

Diamond Engagment Ring Lost in Laguna Beach, Recovered in Sand

On Thursday late afternoon I got a call from a woman named Lauren who lost her ring on Monday in South Laguna Beach who was spending time with her family by the fire pits. Because it was a few days later, she did not think there was a chance that her diamond engagement ring could be found. She asked me if there was any chance, and I told her there was always a chance.   I drove down to the beach at around 4:30 am to get there early, so that the tides would be right and not too high up on the beach. I swung my coil a few times and after digging a few nails near the fire pits, I heard a solid signal, dug it up, and there was her beautiful diamond ring. Lauren and her family got to the beach about half an hour later and she was ecstatic to see that I had actually found her ring. She thought it’d be like finding a needle in a haystack since the surf from the previous days had covered the fire pits where she had lost her ring. She hugged her husband and kids and was very happy to be reunited with her ring. Shortly after I was back on the road, hoping to beat traffic to head to work.

Lifeguard Needs Help Finding Lost Ring in Sand.. Monarch Bay, Laguna Beach, CA.

Last week I did a 6 hour unsuccessful ring search at 1000 Steps Beach in the town of Laguna Beach,CA. I met Max who is an Orange County Lifeguard. He was curious about why I was grid searching the whole beach. I had been called about a ring the was dropped in the sand two days before and the people were not able to meet me. They did send me a marked up satellite screen shot. I told him I was a member of TheRingFinders and gave him my contact information.

Today Max called me needing my help for his custom silver ring lost in the sand right in front of his lifeguard tower. He couldn’t spend hours searching for it because he has to be ready to save lives. Today he was working Monarch Bay Club beach.
It was a 20 minute drive for me. Parking was a snap because security heard I was going to help one of the lifeguards. Max showed me the location and we got to work. Second signal put Max’s ring in my scoop. Couldn’t talk much because the beach was busy.
A happy lifeguard with his ring that was purchased as a memory of a trip to Mexico several years ago. Another fun search.
