I’m in Van Nuys and my husband has lost his wedding ring. He had been doing lawn work and was also on the roof putting up Xmas lights and it’s obviously come off and we’re seriously frustrated because it’s no where to be found so we need some help!

I was able to get to their house a couple hours after talking to Rebecca and Chris called me from work explaining his activities on that Saturday.
After arriving I searched the front yard, backyard, tomato garden and three containers of leaves with no success. Chris was leaving work early to double check the roof while it was still light outside. Before leaving I offered suggestions as where they may search for the ring. Searching for a ring is a process of elimination. I felt confident when I left that the ring was not in the areas that I searched. As I was leaving, I asked Rebecca if she would let me know if they found the ring.

Sorry I don’t have any photos to show. I’m posting this because it feels good to get a text from Rebecca and Chris, thanking me for helping them.

She text me a half hour later::
Chris found it! It was on the roof, hidden under a pile of dirt and leaves! Thank you so much for helping us today.

Julie called me last evening requesting my service to find her VW key fob and office keys! lost while she was snow blowing her driveway! I told her I would meet her at her home first thing this morning and of course the weather changed overnight with temperature -4 below and blowing snow which would make the search a little harsh.

Met Julie she showed me where she had been shoveling and blowing snow around her home within 10 minutes I found her keys in the back alley behind her garage in about 6” of snow, Julie was very happy to have them back in her possession once again.

Lost Gold & Diamond Engagement Ring at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a frantic call from Samantha from Sydney, Australia. While she was playing with her child on the beach her Engagement ring at some point fell off. She was in a rather confined area but she wasn’t exactly sure when or where it exactly came off. I was at work but told her I’d have my wife Wendy bring my Excalibur II metal detector to my work then I’d be right over but it would be at least 45 minutes because its just over 30 miles away. Samantha assured me she’d wait on the beach until I arrived. My wife delivered the Excal in record time and I got on my way to the resort. Samantha met me on the beach and explained it was her 6th Anniversary and her husband who was in the US Navy was deployed. She was totally devastated that she had lost the ring. I told her I was very confident we would find her ring. I asked her to hold my pin-pointer until I had a target. I wanted her to regain her composure and helping me would do just that. First target in the sand was a bent piece of aluminum. As I was getting towards the center of the grid I got a real nice tone. I asked Samantha to hand me the pin-pointer so I wouldn’t knock the diamond off her ring. Surprisingly it was her ring and it was at least four inches into the sand. She must have stepped on it while looking for it. Tears of joy started streaming down her face and Samantha was obviously so shocked her ring was found so quickly. These are the best hunts. Quick & painless. Aloha to Samantha!

Lost engagement ring in Orlando, Fl….Found!

Jason called Thursday morning to see if I could help him find his wife’s lost engagement ring in some bushes at their apartment complex in Orlando! I asked a few pertinent questions to help determine where the rings might be hiding and if there was a good chance they could be found. Jason briefly explained what happened and mentioned that Amber, his wife, had actually lost both her wedding and engagement rings. And after a frantic search they were able to find the wedding ring but not the lost engagement ring! He went on to say that they contemplated renting a metal detector but then found theringfinders.com web site and decided to give me a call.
I reassured them that I would get there ASAP and that the chances were very good of finding her lost ring.
The actual area where the rings landed was small but full of various types of bushes, shrubs and decorative grassy types of plants. One of the grounds crew had actually used a leaf blower to try and remove some of the loose mulch to expose the lost ring, but may have actually blown the ring deeper into one of the bushes. I began my search along the sidewalk and investigated every possible signal using my Garrett pro pointer. I uncovered a variety of items and only 10 minutes into my search I got a great pull tab signal and brushing the leaves aside–there was Amber’s lost ring. I called the young couple over to see what I had found and it was a thrill to see their reactions and the smiles on their faces as Amber bent over and picked up her precious ring! It is always a great pleasure helping reunite a lost ring with it’s rightful owner!

Lost gold pendant in St. Augustine, Fl…..Found!

Bill was taking his little nephew for a ride on a small four wheeler and as he stood up to get off he noticed his heavy gold chain was unlatched and his special « Road Runner » pendant was gone. This pendant was given to him by his late father 30 some years ago as a very special gift. Bill immediately started looking for it and spent hours searching thru the long grass and sandy areas where they had unloaded and ridden the four wheeler. A few days later they used a metal detector and tried and still were not able to find Bill’s lost pendant.
Not wanting to give up, Bill searched the internet and found theringfinders.com web site and gave me a call. I arrived in St. Augustine three hours later and began my search. If the pendant was there I was determined to find it. Bill’s wife Kerri had shown me the large area where the pendant was thought to have been lost, so I set out a few markers, said a short prayer and began swinging my DFX. Bill came an hour and a half later, just as it was getting dark and we talked and searched by the light of his cell phone. Another hour passed and then I got a great signal and there just under the dead grass was Bill’s 14k gold Roadrunner pendant! You talk about one happy young man!! And thanks allot Bill for the reward and I am so glad you gave me a call and that I was able to find your lost pendant.

Lost wedding ring New Smyrna Beach, Florida…..found!

Last November 3rd I wrote a short story about Shawn loosing a ring at New Smyrna Beach and how I was able to find it for him. Come to find out that his good friend Zack, lost his wedding ring that very same day, at the very same beach! Shawn, Zack and another close friend had taken a day off to relax and as they finished their lunch at the Breakers Restaurant they decided to throw the football around in the shallow part of the surf. (Does this story sound familiar?) The third friend decided to remove his wedding ring and leave it in the car, despite the lighthearted objections of Shawn and Zack. And guess who ends up loosing their rings?
So after returning Shawn’s ring to him that evening, I find out that Zack had lost his ring as well! That next day I was able to return to the beach and after a one hour grid search–a little to the north of where Shawn’s ring was found–up pops Zack’s wedding ring. Three guys at the beach and two of them loose their rings! What are the chances? And the best part of the whole story is–they both got them back! And I am still waiting for Zack to send me his photo–so in the meantime–my smiley face will have to do!

White Gold Wedding Band .. Marina Del Rey, CA. .. Found in Water

My friend Adriano was doing a ring search at Marina Del Rey Mother’s Beach. The ring had been in a pocket inside a 6 man outrigger canoe. The person that lost the ring was 99 % sure the ring had fallen into the water when they tipped the canoe over to carry it to the storage area.
Adriano asked my opinion on hunting in an area with a lot of electrical interference.. I asked if I could help because it was sounded like a real learning challenge .. I took my CTX and he uses Excal.. There was a pvc electrical conduit running through the primary search area. It was surprising that 15 feet each side of the conduit the interference made it almost impossible to get a signal. By turning my sensitivity down I was able to calm my machine down enough to get much closer to the conduit. It would still be possible to detect a shallow ring. After a couple hours with two of us grid searching (no ring).
Then a guy who had been out with his kayak asked what we were looking for..? We told him and he replied, « I HAVE IT ». It sounded like he was joking or I didn’t hear him correctly.
He told us that in the morning as he got into his kayak, he found it in the water an hour before we got there. He had been thinking of some way to find the owner and was glad to give it to Adriano if he could return it to the owner. We made sure the man that lost the ring had contact information for the man that found the ring.

Moral to this story is you never know how things come together to make a successful search.

Lost Ring Doing Yard Work in East Hartford, Connecticut… Found!

A gentleman contacted me about losing his ring while doing yard work in East Hartford, Connecticut. Before calling me, he and his friends spent hours on their hands and knees searching the yard for the lost ring. They even used their metal detectors to search the yard – no luck. The last memory of the ring was placing it in his pocket just before beginning the yard work.

Once I arrived to discuss the situation, he explained how he got off the mower in a few different places throughout the yard. He couldn’t exactly remember where but he mentioned the mower getting stuck a couple of times. I began looking for soft spots and sunken areas in the grass where the mower could have gotten stuck. I was thinking maybe the ring fell out of his pocket while getting off the mower. One of the first places to catch my eye was a disturbed clod of grass with fresh dirt exposed. I scanned the spot, and immediately a loud signal rang through my metal detector! I found the ring just under the exposed soil next to the clod of grass! Lost Platinum & Diamonds Wedding Band at Nai’a Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find began while I was on a break from another ring find. Greg from California’s Central Valley was on the beach relaxing with his wife when he took his ring off and placed it on a towel. When they moved location Greg forgot about his ring and he assumed it fell off the towel and into the sand. He rented a metal detector but Aloha Security stopped him and told him to call « Joe » the only authorized resort detectorist. He said he wasn’t making much progress anyway. Greg was at the Dole Plantation tour and texted me some decent location data. I started my grid search but their were a few folks in the box. I explained what I was doing and I’d have to ask them to move at some point if I didn’t find the ring elsewhere. They all were very nice about it. After not finding Greg’s ring in the area he described I thought maybe when he picked up the towel the ring got flung farther away. It was so because a few more grid lines outside the box and I got a nice platinum tone and one scoop down was Greg’s stunning ring. The folks that were in the area were shocked that I found it and all wanted to see the ring up close. I then went back to my truck and texted Greg a pic. He called immediately and asked if he could drive over and pick it up in about 30 minutes. As you can see in the pic all came together again in this new year. Aloha to Greg.

Sentimental Gold Cartier Watch .. Fisherman’s Cove, Laguna Beach, CA. .. Found after 3 Days

For Kim, Christmas morning started out with a family get together at her boy friends home. Then the day changed with news of the passing of a close personal friend in England. It was a totally unexpected as he was healthy and only 53 years old. She struggled through the afternoon and evening. Returning to her home to get a watch that was gifted to her by her deceased friend.  Later she walked a couple blocks that night to sit on the beach for some deep thoughts and a long cry. After a couple hours she went  home to get some sleep after a very emotional day.

The next day Kim realized the watch was no where to be found. She and everyone in the household searched the house and every inch of the two blocks from the house to the beach. She said it was such a cruel blow that such a precious memento should get lost on the day she found out it’s giver had died.
Her son had a radio shack metal detector that they attempted to use forbsesrching the beach sand. That’s when one of the neighbors told her to contact TheRingFinders.
It was already three days sense the loss and it could have been easily found  by a stranger if lost on the street or sidewalk. I assured her that I could find it if it was buried in the sand. We had to try even though there were many other places it could be.
Fisherman’s Cove is beautiful and has a small beach. As I started my grid some of the neighbors came to see what was going on. As they were talking about what had happened, I carefully scooped and pitched the sand in a pile. We all looked down and there was the White gold Cartier watch. It had been about 4 inches under the sand hiding from anybody that may have claimed it as a finders keeper’s treasure. It had survived a couple high tides that didn’t damage the mechanism.
Then the tears and cheers of happiness flowed. So many people came up to me afterward telling me how important this was to Kim.
Besides giving me a nice gratuity, I was invited to a very a awesome New Years Eve party. When, I walked in the door they announced, « TheRingFinder is here ».
When I bought my first metal detector in 1971, I would have never thought that my new hobby would take me to such a rewarding life.
