Palladium ring found Glen Ellyn Lake Park, Illinois

Gentleman and his family came to Glen Ellyn Lake Park to watch the cardboard post races on July 3rd.. While watching they moved to another location. The ring was in the cup holder of a chair. They were uncertain as to which location it came out or if it came out while going to the location.

I hunted the first location and thats where I found it. It came in at 11/22 on the CTX 3030. About a twenty minute hunt. Even the Park manager was surprised I found it. Needless to say I gave the manager my card for future loses.

Lost iPhone in Sand .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found with Metal Detector

Chloe and her friends spent 3 hours searching the soft dry sand for her iPhone at Tower 22 in Newport Beach, CA. . Even though thay had activated the Find My IPhone app, the phone had stayed hidden below the sand.

One of Chloe’s friends found my contact information online. When I received the call, I was in my car with my metal detectors a couple miles away from them. The parking lot was full but just as I got to their location a space was open within 25 yards of where they were waiting for me.

The sun was setting and it was beginning to get cold. I started a grid search using my XP Deus metal detector. The phone was found within a few minutes probably 15 to 20ft south of the GPS location. Chloe was ecstatic and very grateful to have her phone back in her hands. All of her friends were also excited about the find after all the energy they burned up trying to find the phone. The smile tells it all.

Engagement Ring Lost .. Huntington State Beach, CA. .. Found in Sand

The first thing I do in the morning is check my emails. There was an email sent to me at 11:50pm last night from Hailey saying,  I was her last hope. Yesterday she was at Huntington State Beach between towers 3 and 4 when she lost her diamond engagement ring. I sent her a reply asking her to call me as soon as possible. There was enough information to drive to the location to begin a search.

About a half hour of grid searching a large area, I received a call from Hailey, she told me that she had given the ring to her husband to hold. He put the ring on his pinky finger. Before they left the beach he realized the ring was missing. Several of their friends spent hours search by hand with no success. Then they had to leave because the beach closes at 10 pm, so they left believing the ring was lost forever.

After hearing that story, I was now sure that her ring was in the sand near the towel line. I asked her if she remembered seeing a sand castle on the beach. She told me that they had build a sand castle and was surprised it was still there. That was the clue I needed. It took me a short time to find Hailey’s ring after the phone call. Calling her with the good news and sent her a photo of the ring. She told me how much this ring meant to her and that they still owed $3000 on it.

Hailey was 20 miles away in Anahiem which made it time consuming for her to drive to the beach. Also parking is $25 for this 4th of July weekend which I don’t have to pay because I have an annual State Beach parking pass.

It was a a pleasure to meet and return the beautiful ring to Hailey and her husband later that afternoon.

Silver Pandora Ring Lost at Hermosa Beach, Ca…Found and Returned.

I had been resting yesterday afternoon when I received a call from Gabriel about a lost ring at the beach. His girl friend had wisely taken her ring off in order go in the water and wrapped it her shirt, leaving it on the towel. Gabriel, not realizing the ring was in the shirt, picked it and towel up in order to dry himself off, and the ring was gone. They searched for it to no avail. He said they were still at the spot, and had it cordoned off. I knew that the ring should be found because the loss had just happened, and they had not left the spot of the loss, so I let them know I would be there as soon as I could make it.

I had to park 3/4 of a mile away, so I boarded my Segway Mini Pro to travel the distance down the strand, with detector in hand and scoop in backpack. I arrived at the spot and met Gabriel. He took me out to the area, and I began my usual questions. I narrowed the spot from his description, and began my search. Within 30 seconds, I had the prettiest little silver ring in my scoop. I held it out to Gabriel, who couldn’t believe it could be found so fast. His girl friend Mariah was gone for a while, and was due back shortly. I wanted to see her reaction when her ring was shown to her. It was at that moment that Gabriel told me that he had bought the ring for her just the day before at a Disneyland store. How cool is that? What great smiles, and happy people; what a joy.

Lost Wedding Band at Outrigger Reef Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a late evening call from Hope who lives in Kalihi on Oahu. While her husband Vita was exiting the ocean his Wedding Band fell off into the waves of the shore break and disappeared. Thankfully, I only live 10 minutes from Waikiki so I told Hope I’d meet her husband at valet parking. There is no other option unless you want to walk half a mile with your gear. Fifteen minutes later I was on the famous Shore Bird Beach looking for Vita’s ring in the pounding surf break. I tried down in the wave curl (Low Tide Water Mark) but no luck. Then I worked my way up the beach parallel to the shore break. On the third leg I got a nice tone and after three scoops there was Vita’s ring. Hope & Vita were so thankful and obviously relieved. Lost college class ring, Lake Mary, Florida……found and returned!

Dave was spraying a mixture of cleaners on his two story home roof, hoping to kill some of the Florida mildew that was growing on his shingles. The pump sprayer he was using began to leak and his hand started to burn. The burning steadily got worse until he had to stop and he then noticed his fingers were actually beginning to bleed! So he tried shaking the liquid off of his hand and the motion caused his 2007 UCF class ring to go flying. Actually only three quarters of his ring went flying as his 14k gold ring had come apart in three pieces. Dave was able to see his ring, shining in the grass down below and after rinsing his hand he went to where he last saw his ring….but he could not find it anywhere. He tried raking the area hoping to bring it to the surface but still his ring remained hidden in the thick grass. Dave then went out and bought himself a small metal detector hoping that it would help locate his lost ring but still no luck. He then went on line and typed in « How to find a ring in the grass » and up popped theringfinders.com and one of the search stories. So he gave me a call and we discussed his situation and I felt quite confident that I could help him find his lost ring. Later that evening I met Dave and he showed me the small grassy area where he dropped his class ring off of the roof. I set my metal detector to the coin and jewelry mode and right away there was obvious electrical interference that caused the detector to chatter constantly. By switching to the Prospecting Mode I was able to begin searching the most likely areas. And sure enough I soon got a nice solid, repeatable signal with low numbers and it pinpointed very shallow. Dave was so grateful to get his lost ring back and it was great to see the joy and relief as he firmly shook my hand. Lost 14K ring while gardening in Evanston, Illinois. Found!

Got a call from a gentleman who lost his wedding band while gardening. I love it when they do that!! Used the CTX 3030 with big coil. Gridded the lawn. Nothing. Checked compost, Nothing. Swept coil in area around compost and spotted the ring on the surface. BINGO. Notice the dirt still on the ring after he put it on. Glad to be reunited!

Lost Platinum ring while flying kite in Willow Park, Glenview, Illinois

While assembling a kite with his children, he lost his Platinum wedding band. He knew the area and had searched with a metal detector, and even went at night with a flashlight to search. I used my Minelab 3030 with a large coil. Found ring which had been stepped on and driven into ground in less than 20 minutes.

Diamond Wedding Band Lost at Manhattan Beach, CA…Found and Joyously Returned!

I was on the road last night about 9:20 PM when I received a call from Chelsey. She had lost her wedding band at the beach earlier in the day. She had gone surfing, and wisely took her ring off and left it in her beach bag. When she and her family were getting ready to leave she noticed that another piece of her jewelry had fallen from the bag. She then picked up her towel, and shook the sand from it, the ring was gone. I wasn’t far from the beach, and told her I could be there in 20 minutes, she needed more time, as she was at dinner with her family, so we arranged to meet at 10:15 PM at the beach.

I was waiting as Chelsey and her family rolled up. There was about 7 of them, and we all made our way down to the spot of the loss. Well it was dark now, which made it harder to judge landmarks, so we had to widen the search area. The other problem was that the tide was super high, and as I searched the water would come up and wipe out my grid lines, so I had to pay close attention to where I had already searched in order to cover the area correctly. Chelsey and her family also brought along lights, sifters and colanders to continue the search they had begun earlier. The humor entered into it for me as I looked around, yet I did not say anything until the ring was found, that it looked like a Paleontology convention as everyone was spread around on the sand with their lights and sifters delicately searching for Chelsey’s ring.

I searched for about an hour, moving further out, and closer to the water than they had told me, and could see at times that there was concern that I should be staying in the area they felt sure of, and I understand that feeling. I have been doing this long enough though to know that sometimes the ring isn’t always where the person thinks it is, so I usually persist, and work out of the box, or color outside of the lines so to speak. Well I decided to work much closer to the edge of the slope down to the water when I got a real good signal in the head phones. I dug, and in the scoop was Chelsey’s ring; 11:30 PM. I lifted it up, and was immediately stormed by the entire family, who lined up to give me a hug. WHAT GREAT JOY RESTORED! What a great opportunity to be a help; love it!
