Wedding Ring Lost in Gulf of Mexico…State of Louisiana, found by John Volek TRF-Houston

I was contact by Charles a resident of Little Rock Arkansas, who was looking for someone to help him find his lost wedding ring…

Charles reported he and his family were on vacation at Rutherford Beach in Louisiana when he had the mis-fortune of loosing his wedding ring in the Gulf of Mexico.

Charles reported while spending time at the beach with his family, he ventured into the water and when he was about waist deep, he dove in…

Charles said as he dove into the water he felt his ring slide off of his finger…Charles said he knew at that moment his ring might be lost forever…

Charles then stated, this had happened neatly three weeks ago, but he was still holding onto hope…

Charles provided some very specific land marks, which where the deciding factor in pursuing this recovery effort.

Based on the location and distance, I new this would need to be a two-man effort minimal…I reached out to a good friend Carl Sedita and laid out the details.

Lost 2018 Texas A&M Class Ring.. Lost in a Hidden Paradise… Recovered by The Ring Finders Houston, Texas…
I was contacted by Jordan regarding his newly acquired and recently lost 2018 Texas A&M Class Ring.
Jordan had the unfortunate luck to loose his newly acquired class ring on a sand bar along the San Jacinto River…
Jordan reported he and his family spent a number of hours searching for his ring with no luck…he reported a neighborhood friend came out with a metal detector and still no luck…

Plans were made to meet up with Jordan and his family the following day…I arrived the next day, and as planned we made a short boat ride to an area know as Banana Bend, on the San Jacinto River…As we arrived, I was amazed to see this little hidden paradise…really clean white sandy beaches along this stretch of the San Jacinto River…

As we arrived Jordan directed me to the area where he and several friends had been playing volleyball. Jordan was very confident his ring would be located in the area of the volleyball court.

About 45 minutes into the search, I came upon Jordan’s 2018 Texas A&M Class Ring buried in about 4 inches of sand just outside of the volleyball court area…

Lost Gold Wedding Ring in Sand at Malibu, CA. .. Found and Returned

Shani had been at Surfrider Beach in Malibu, CA. with her friend, Julie. After coming out of the restroom, just before stepping onto the sand, Shani shook her hands. At that moment her gold wedding band slipped off her finger disappearing into the dry sand.

The lifeguards recommended that they google TheRingFinders website. That was how Julie contacted me. I asked if the loss was dry sand or in the water and if they could wait an hour and a half for me to get to their location. From what they told me, I assured them we had a good chance to find her ring. It was a weekend day and I was lucky to get a parking space close to where Shani and Julie were waiting.

Shani showed me where she was standing when the ring came off her finger. Starting to grid search from the edge of the sidewalk down a gradual slope, I was probably 20 feet away when I got a great signal that turned out to be Shani’s ring. It wasn’t a heavy ring but it surprised me how far it had gone with just a little shake of her hand. Nevertheless everyone was overjoyed that the ring was found and they could return home after a beautiful day on the beach.

Prescription Glasses Lost in the Ocean, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

It had been a great weekend with family in town and sadly as they all left, I wanted to do a little metal detecting. I had just received my new quest scoopal sand scoop in the mail and attached an old wooden handle and was ready to go. There were plenty of people on the beach; the problem was, there weren’t any places to park. After driving to three different spots, I finally found a parking spot and hit the beach. I had my new scoop in one hand and my new Equinox 800, third time out with it, in the other hand.

I hit my first target, stuck my new scoop in the sand, and wouldn’t you know it, my handle broke. I then remembered why the handle wasn’t attached to my T-Rex scoop, I had cracked the base of the handle and changed it out last year. Luckily, I still had my T-Rex in the trunk and headed back to the car. On my way off the beach, Betty approached me wanting to know if I had found a pair of kid’s prescription glasses. I hadn’t, so I got the description of the glasses and found out they had been lost within the last 10 minutes. I told her I needed to change scoops and that I’d be right back and see what I could do. There’s usually very little chance of finding freshly dropped glasses. Glasses are so light; they get pushed and pulled by the surf until the metal frames finally settle in the sand and get buried. Also, as they’re getting pushed and pulled, the lenses get scratched up rubbing against the sand.

 When I got back to the site, I started doing a grid search in the surf, hoping to visually spot the glasses. After a pretty extensive visual search, I told Betty that I’d be there for a while, working the outgoing tide, and if I found the glasses, I’d leave them with the lifeguard. As I’m working the tide line, I walked north of the lost area and spotted the glasses laying on top of the wet sand about 20-30 yards away from the original area. I picked up the glasses, verified they were the right ones, checked for damage, and headed back to find Betty. Betty and I spotted each other about the same time, and I held up the glasses. She and Annie, the mother of the girl that lost the glasses, both came running towards me. Both were very excited and called Kamila to come down from the hotel and get her glasses. While we were waiting, I found out they were on vacation from Illinois and were originally from Poland. I didn’t learn the relationship between Betty, Annie, and Kamila, but it didn’t matter. Once Kamila showed up, she identified the glasses and checked them for damage, everything was okay. Found out from Annie that she had called her husband who was going to overnight a spare set of glasses the next day.

Kamila, so happy I was able to help get your glasses back where they belong.

Engagement Ring Lost on Los Angeles Street…Found and Happily Returned.

Michelle called yesterday. She believed she had lost her engagement ring while walking down the street swatting at some leaves that were extending into the sidewalk. It was the only likely area, because it was the only area with a lot of vegetation, and with her hand motions combined, sounded like the ideal situation. We agreed to meet this morning to do the search.

I got to the spot and contacted Michelle to let her know I had arrived. She immediately came over and took me to the area of the possible loss. It definitely looked at though it could have swallowed her ring. There was a lot of over and under growth as well as dead leaves to hide her ring. I then asked her to recreate what she did the night before which showed me where her ring could have flown to. I began where she had started swatting the leaves finding numerous items of metal, many good signals but mostly foil, but no ring. At the very end of the bushes I received another good signal, and putting in my pin pointer to find the item, and moving the leaves around, there it was, Michelle’s ring which I promptly held up for her. She was so surprised and elated, but with a bit of disbelief not thinking it could have been found. She had received this ring from her fiancé while she was still in school waiting for graduation to get married. She had just recently graduated, and was looking forward to arranging the wedding when this loss occurred. It’s so great to restore the joy to people who lose it so quickly.

Electronic Car Key Lost in Horse Arena in Griffith Park, Los Angele, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Kathrine called yesterday morning explaining how she had been working training horses at the Griffith park horse arena when she received a phone call. When she removed her phone for the call, unknowingly her electronic car key came out and fell into the soft sand of the arena. She had gone back with a rake later to try and recover the key, but with no luck. She was able to locate me on the internet, not really believing a service like this even existed. When I talked with her and asked a few questions, it did sound like a good chance of a recovery, so we arranged to meet at the arena as soon as I could get there.

I got to the park, I met with Kathrine, and she took me over to the arena. When I saw it, it was a very large expanse of sand, fine and deep like the beach. We tried to narrow down the search area. She showed me the approximate spot where she used the phone, so I decided to break up the arena into 4ths, and do a search for each quarter of it. After doing the first 4th with no results, and watching Kathrine doing a little searching on her own, I noticed she was sticking to the outside rail of the arena. I then found out that most of the training the day before had been on the outer perimeter rather than the internal part of the pen. I told her that I was going to change my search method, and search the outer portion first and spiral in as I made each pass. About 5 minutes later I received a good signal and dug, and there in the bottom of my scoop was her key. She was so surprised, and so happy to have her key back, it was the only one she had access to at this time and was dreading having to purchase another. What a wonderful smile, you bet! It was great to make Kathrine’s day yesterday.

Lost Platinum Ring with Tourmaline Stone at El Matador State Beach, Malibu, CA .. Found in Sand

Timothy had been at El Matador State Beach for an early morning walkout. He came to a place where the beach had eroded creating a five foot embankment. When he jumped to the lower level, he feel backward with his hands in the sand. Right away he noticed his unique Platinum/Palladium with a Tourmaline Stone was not on his finger. After spending time searching the small area he started to second guess himself. Possibly he had left his ring at home that morning?

Timothy called me explaining his story. He was on his way to check his house that was only a half hour away. We still had time to search the beach location but soon it would be high tide. My drive would take an hour and a half so I started the drive. Timothy had given me great directions as to where he had been at the beach. I believed I could find location without him meeting me there.

After arriving and not hearing anything from Timothy about his search at his home, I went down the many stairs to beach walking about a quarter mile till a found the embankment he described to me over the phone. Then I began searching with my metal detector. There was several places where the sand was knocked down which may bury a ring out of range of my detector. This time we were lucky and I got the signal I was looking for, a Big Bang. at the bottom of my sand scoop was Timothy’s awesome ring.

I sent him a text with a photo of his ring. We set up a meeting place which was on my way home and near where he lives. We had a nice visit and he kept looking at his ring that made me feel this was very special to him. It was pleasure to meet him and help him find his sentimental ring.

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Shorebird Waikiki Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Carlo who was on vacation from Seattle Washington and enjoying the day with his lovely wife Lizzie on Waikiki Beach. Lizzie was putting on suntan lotion and took her rings off to apply. When she got up from her chair the rings fell into the sand. She and Carlo were able to spot the engagement ring but the platinum wedding ring disappeared. After a futile 30 minute search Carlo & Lizzie decidedto search the internet and found the ring finders and gave me a call. It was quitting time at work so I told Carlo to relax on the beach and I would be there after I picked up my gear from home. I was lucky enough to find parking when I arrived and Carlo & Lizzie were about a 5 minute walk down the beach from Hilton Hawaiian Village, As I arrived Carlo and Lizzie helped me clear the area of the metal lounge chairs and then I fired up the Excal. In less then 10 seconds I had a nice tone that was growling like Platinum. One scoop down and there was Lizzie’s wedding ring. Its great to happen so quickly but sometimes we enjoy a little hunting time. They texted me later that « Your kind service saved our trip ». Aloha to Carlo & Lizzie.

Lost Tiffany Ring in Yard .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found

Janet called me the other evening just before dark. She ask my help to find her daughter’s silver Tiffany mesh ring. Lost in the front yard of their home. They live less than a mile from my location and there was enough light to begin the search, so I met them shortly after the call.

Hanna was there to show me where she had pinched her hand while shutting the front gate. She shook her hand and her ring went flying somewhere in the front yard grass, the landscape garden or the driveway. She thought she heard it land in the garden.

They had moved the cars in the driveway and visually searched the cement areas. I searched the lawn and the garden with my normal metal detector and the handheld pinpointer. Paying attention to the plants that the ring could have hung up. Double checking the brick type fence post there was about a one inch space underneath the first brick. That was where Hanna’s ring was hiding. 

Everybody was surprised the they had not spotted the ring while searching earlier in the day when it was light. We eliminated the other possible locations which caused us to double check previously searched areas.

Hanna’s smile shows how happy she was to have her ring back where it belongs.

Diamond Wedding Ring Lost at Venice Beach, CA…Found and Joyfully Returned.

I got a call from Alan yesterday afternoon. His wife had been putting sunscreen on at the beach, and had taken her ring off to do it. The ring had been in her lap, and then she stood up to do something. It was at that moment she realized the ring had been in her lap, and was now buried in the sand. Alan, and his wife, with the help of their friend proceeded to sift through the sand, but could not find the ring. I discussed the loss with Alan, and told him to secure the area, so that someone else could not lay out their towels over the area of the loss. I let him know I was on my way, and would let him know as soon as I arrived.

When I got there Alan met me on the strand, and he took me over to where they were sitting. I could see that they had created a circle around the area, and I knew that if the ring was there we would have a quick search. The reason I ask a lot of questions, and ask people to stay where they believe to loss occurred, is so they can help me to help them, and I can make the process less « painful » for them. I searched all around the center of the circle with nothing. I then went to move a beach chair when my coil swept over the area, and I could hear the low gold tone in the headphones. I missed it on the first scoop, and scooped again. There it was. I reached in and pulled out a beautiful diamond and white gold wedding ring that I handed over to Alan’s wife, who immediately became very emotional; she was so happy. To see the joy all around, and smiles everywhere; made for a great end of a day.

After having gone through cancer last year, we realized that things are just not important, but my wedding ring has so much sentimental value for my amazing husband who stood by my side through treatment and took care of me while having to be a single parent much of the year I was down from surgeries and treatment. No other ring could have replaced the love attached to my ring and I am so grateful that I still have it on my finger as I continue to be blessed enough to wake up every morning and enjoy this beautiful life! Alan and I are so grateful that you showed up so quickly and told us what to do right away to ensure we did not bury it further (although my 4-year-old did say that he was digging for « real treasure » after I lost it – we just moved him outside of the perimeter to do so!). Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
