Lost Gold w/Diamonds Bracelet Underwater Found in Cass Lake Waterford Township Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

One Score and Seven Days Ago…….

…..DeAngelo and his out-of-town fiancée were eager to celebrate their independence and freedom. In the pursuit of happiness, they invited all their local friends and family to join them on the lake. As they headed out on 3 pontoon boats the party of 20 people caught up on current events, personal goals and family gossip. Arriving at a popular sandbar their 4th of July celebration began. Food, drinks, card games, music and dancing had everyone in a great mood. His fiancée frequently jumped in and out of each boat to visit with everyone. As dusk approached the small fleet packed it in and headed for the mainland. It was around this time that his fiancée noticed her bracelet missing. With the remaining light everyone tried to find it with no luck. DeAngelo and I made arrangements to meet and try to find it. Arriving at the location I put on my snorkel mask, weight belt and jumped into the refreshing clear cool water with the metal detector to grid search the sand bar. An hour later and a pocket full of junk I got another signal. Thinking it was another bottlecap I looked thru my fogging snorkel mask and thought I saw something. Rinsing out the mask I then went completely underwater a few feet and scanned the sand with my Garrett carrot pin pointer. Moving through the sand I got a signal and when the blurring of the stirred-up sand cleared I saw a portion of the bracelet! Knowing I had to come up for air in a few seconds I pulled the bracelet out of the sand and secured it in both hands. As I surfaced, I was hoping that the bracelet had just snapped and there was not another piece somewhere. That turned out to be true. I yelled over to DeAngelo to come see me. As I showed it to him, he said WOW that’s it, you found it! Boarding the boat, DeAngelo quickly sent texts and pics of the find to his fiancée. She was totally elated and didn’t think she would ever see it again. As we enjoyed the ride back, and our heads held high, DeAngelo was excited to get the bracelet repaired and returned to her next time they meet. Now they can look back on this 4th of July as a double celebration as one heart, proud to be under one flag and on the land that we call America!

Keep calm and SPARKLE on!

Lost Kelowna Ring found and returned

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

Warren and his family were down at the local beach to watch the fireworks display, after sitting in the sand, Warren went to wash his hands in the water. Back on the beach he shook the water off his hands and before he knew it, his ring was missing. The family searched until midnight with no success, they returned in the morning with a metal detector, again unsuccessfully. The ring belonged to his Father who had it and two other rings made from a gold nugget. Regretfully Warren`s Father had recently died, and Warren inherited his Father`s ring, unfortunately that was the ring he was wearing on the beach. I had been working my sales booth at a Rock & Gem show all weekend, and just got home when my wife said that I had a phone call on the recording machine, I returned the call to Warren who told me his story, I told him I would be there at 5:30 in the morning to search for it. I had no sooner hung up when I gave it second thoughts, Warren was very distraught so I called him back and said I would meet him at the beach in 45 minutes, the sooner the search the better. At the beach he showed me the loss location which I gridded for over 30 minutes. I told him there is a possibility that it went into the water and I would return in the am to search the water. Before I left the beach, I searched the waters edge getting my feet wet, only to recover the ring. Another happy family, I love it.

Finders Come Through
Editor:

While recently swimming with his brothers at Harding’s Beach, our grandson Colin, found that the cross given to him by his parents for Confirmation in 2019 was no longer attached to his neck chain. It has a very special meaning for Colin, and he was devastated when he lost it. The family searched along the shore for the cross to no avail. Colin’s grandmother, my wife Mary, would not be deterred, and after obtaining the contact number for a metal-detector service who had left a business card at the parking shack, contacted the Ring Finders, an organization of individuals who are dedicated in providing their services, their slogan being « We never give up. » We thank two dedicated guys, Rick Browne and Leighton Harrington, for their efforts, which resulted in the recovery of the cross in two feet of water three days after it was lost. TheRingFinders.com is the website of the world-wide organization for anyone in need of their services.

Lost a ring?

Don’t wait to call!

Peter was sitting on the beach in Ocean City, NJ when he decided to take his wedding band off and place it in the cup holder of his beach chair. He packed up his belongings later in the day, forgetting that the ring was still in the cup holder. He realized it was missing after he got home and gave me a call. Shortly after a quick grid search with my metal detector, I got the signal for the white gold wedding band and it was back on finger in no time.

Lost – Platinum Sapphire ring, Southern Shores, OBX – FOUND!!

  • from New Smyrna Beach (Florida, United States)

I got a call from Andreas at about 10:30 on Friday.  He said that his wife had lost her ring in Southern Shores on the beach.  I asked him if he thought it was in the water.  He replied that it should be in dry sand.  I told him that these things normally work out best the sooner we can search and that I could be there in about 10 minutes.  He agreed.

When I arrived I met Crystal and Andreas.  Crystal explained that the ring was in a pocket, and it came up missing yesterday.  I asked her to describe the ring.  She said it is a platinum ring with a single blue sapphire. She said she thought it was lost on the beach, but it could be anywhere from the house to beach, which is where she noticed it was gone.

As we cleared the dune crosswalk, I fired up the XP detector.  I told her that I like to scan as I’m going to the suspected area just in case.  I asked Crystal where the tent was the day before and the path, she took to get to it.  I followed her lead as she took me to where the cabana was.

I started the sweep in the area on the water side as I normally do.  I took my hat off and ask for the Lord’s help.  I put my hat on and immediately got a big signal.  The ring was in the scoop!

I carefully put it in my hand and held it up to show Crystal.  She put it on her finger and fell to the sand.  She was overcome with tears of joy!!

Mark and Pam have a history of capturing memories of their vacations in Ocean City, NJ by having family portraits taken on the beach. This photo shoot was extra special because the couple is celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary this month. During one of the shots, their rings were placed in the sand near the water’s edge. Unexpectedly, a wave came rushing up out of nowhere, and all three rings were washed into the ocean. Mark reached out to me the day after the rings were lost, and I met him and the rest of the family on the beach. We took some time to figure out where they could be, and then I began to search. I started in the wet sand and worked my way out into the ocean. I got my first signal in knee-deep water. It was Pam’s wedding band! A few feet away, the metal detector went over the second ring, her engagement ring. The third signal was another few feet away. I pulled up
the scoop and was ecstatic to see Mark’s wedding band. It truly was a picture perfect ending and a memory I’m sure they’ll never forget.

Lost Water Shut Off Valve Found in Southfield Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

All was WELL and Good…….

…..until Dave could not locate the outside shut off valve to the well water supply. Although the subdivision went on city water, he still wanted the well supply for watering the garden, plants, ect. and needed to shut the supply off to change the piping around. Turning on my Tesoro Sidewinder metal detector in all metal mode I started to search for the valve. An increase in the threshold sound was convincing enough to dig. Pushing the shovel into the ground and removing a few scoops revealed the cap that sealed the metal tube to the valve deep below the ground. Using a long T bar, we turned the valve until it was shut. Instead of saying « O Well » and walking away, he was thrilled that he called me to help him. All’s WELL that ends well we said, as Dave feels this project is now just water under the bridge!

Lost – Heirloom Silver Watch, Outer Banks, OBX, NC – FOUND!!

  • from New Smyrna Beach (Florida, United States)

I got call from Sean early in the day.  He said someone had lost a watch on the beach.  I asked the usual questions about its proximity to the water, and he said that it was in dry sand.  I told him that I would be there shortly.

When I arrived, Sean took me to a dune walkover.  There was a sitting area that was covered with sand.  He said the watch was lost somewhere between the sitting area and the cabana on the beach.

I fired up the D2 and did a complete sweep on the sitting area and the path to and inside the cabana.  Nothing but a few bottle caps.  Just then he remembered that the covering had been further to the south the previous day.  Again, nothing.  I had spent quite a bit of time.  If it were there, I should have found it.

I got more detailed information about the watch.  It was over 50 years old, silver and had been given to his wife’s mom by her mom who was born in 1918.  When I heard that, I told Sean, “We have to find it.”

I found out that Sean had not actually been with Grandma when she lost the watch so I asked if someone who was there could come down to the beach.  Donna, Sean’s mom came down and the puzzle started to fill in more.  They had walked down to the beach!

I immediately went to the water’s edge as I normally do when there is a chance that the item is in the water.  As I worked my way up, it wasn’t long until I got a strong 99 hit.  It was the watch.

When I gave the watch to Donna, she said, “I had been praying the entire time that you would find it.”  I told her that I pray every time before I search.

The family was thrilled!

Lost a Ring?

Don’t Wait to Call!

I received a text from Caroline about her lost ring in Sea Isle City, NJ. It is very sentimental because it’s the first piece of jewelry her boyfriend gave her. She put that ring and another one in her cup holder but forgot to tell her boyfriend they were in there, so both dropped in the sand when he closed the beach chair. I met her on the beach and started to search.
After a few scans with the metal detector, the rings were found!
