A couple from Washington was visiting San Diego early this year of 2022 when this priceless platinum diamond ring went missing in the beach sand. They happened to have found my contact info online through TheRingFinders website and called me after searching fruitlessly sifting through the sand countless hours to anvil. I was able to meet them the same evening that day and helped them out within just a few minutes of scanning around.

If you can only imagine being in someone else’s shoes on either side,,what would you do? Me personally,,I go out of my way for good Karma with my metal detector on any pickings of any day or week. To some they call this Treasure,,I call the smiles I get in return “Treasure.” Yeah of course we detectorist’s find some long lost gold,Jewelry,Coins etc,, But when I get a call for help it is not about finding treasure or Bragging on friendly online forums about my finds for Keepsakes!

This is a hobby many of us are very fortunate to enjoy and I certainly enjoy helping our hobby look good after over 100 lost rings have been found and returned with my help and experience.

Beautiful, Sentimental Gold Charms Lost, Recovered and Returned in Swedesboro, NJ!

Got a late night text from Renee after she found me in the Ring Finder Directory. After a few days of frantic searching and the purchase and attempted use of a cheap metal detector she decided to reach out to a professional! In our text conversation she shared with me that she was out berry-picking at her home in the Swedesboro, NJ area when her hand got caught in her beautiful gold, charm-laden necklace and the chain broke spilling all the charms over a grassy area. She was able to find the chain and 2-3 of the charms but couldn’t locate 2 of them. She told me that she acquired the charms in France many years ago….and they were extremely important to her. I agreed to meet her the following afternoon. Upon arrival to her home I first asked to see the similar charms she was able to recover….I scanned them with my detector to firstly make sure my machine could pick them up and secondly to calibrate my machine to pick up just them when scanning the area. She made it easy for me by marking the area where the chain broke and she found several of the charms. I was about 3 minutes into the search when my machine let out a sweet low tone that suggested gold! With Renee at my shoulder I bent down and pushed some grass out of the way….there they were! The immediate relief and joy showing on Renee’s face makes it all worth it! I was very happy to be able to reunite Renee with her very important and sentimental charms!

… Steve called me for help finding his Platinum wedding band. Lost in the sand near the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA. He said his friends were coming with a metal detector they purchased from a local sporting goods shop. 

I told him that it would be more than an hour till I could meet him on the beach. It would be dark but, if they stayed in the location it shouldn’t take long to find his ring. I only asked if he found it before I got there, please call me. Otherwise I will be there as soon as possible. Los Angeles freeways are unpredictable when it comes to traffic delays. 

I arrived at 8pm in the darkness. They showed me where Steve was standing when the ring slipped off his finger. Turn on my detector and take a few swings ,BINGO.. Platinum ring in my sand scoop. 

Every one was happy and they all learned that it isn’t easy to work a metal detector they had purchased at the store.

Lost Ring in the Water, Pensacola Beach – FOUND!!!

I’m so glad that I could help out Holden and his wife Sellers this weekend. Holden called and told me that they had spent the day before playing in the water behind their condo and they had been anywhere from ankle deep to 10ft deep. He had recognized that he didn’t want to lose his ring so he took it off and put it in the zippered pocket of his swim trunks. When he went to reach for it later in the day, you guessed it, there was a large hole in the bottom of the pocket and no ring. Holden decided to put a quarter or two in the pocket and start walking from shore to see what happened. They quickly came out so he marked the area he thought his ring might be in and went inside to call me after an internet search. We talked and agreed that I would come out and search the water as deep as I could wade and then if needed I would come later with scuba gear.   When I got there Holden told me that I would probably have a curious audience because his entire extended family was watching from the condo balcony. Holden had paid such great attention to every detail that he really made my job easy. On about the 3rd pass or so out to deep water I got a great gold tone in about waist deep water. Everyone got to cheer and watch as Holden got his ring back. I’m very glad that I got to help y’all. Sew that pocket up and enjoy the rest of your time at the condo. 😃

Lost Rose Gold & Diamonds Wedding Ring at Kuhio Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This Ring Find began when I got a call from Scott who was on vacation from Melbourne, Australia with his lovely wife Monali. While enjoying the cool waters of Kuhio Beach Waikiki Monali put her rings in a towel and then a chair pocket for safekeeping while they went swimming. When she returned Scott handed her the towel and her Engagement and Wedding Rings fell into the sand. They instantly saw the Engagement Ring but the Wedding Ring dreadfully disappeared. They searched for awhile but it became hopeless. Scott found The Ring Finders during a lost ring search on Google and that’s where I come in. I told Scott I could meet him in Waikiki in about 20 minutes so he could walk me down to where the ring was lost. Thankfully, although the beach was crowded the search area was clear. I fired up the Nox and immediately started getting targets. There were bottle caps everywhere. I removed several and moved to cover another part of the grid away from them. I instantly got a surface 10-11 screamer and in one scoop there was Monali’s beautiful Rose Gold and Diamonds Wedding Ring in the scoop. Scott was so relieved and knew his vacation could now continue normally. He met up with Monali later and they sent me the happy selfie. Aloha to Monali & Scott.

Man’s Platinum Wedding Band Lost during Wheelbarrow Races – Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

Eric called me about 12:30 pm on Friday, Jun 6th, asking if I was The Ring Finder. He said his friend, TJ, had lost his wedding band and wanted to know if I could help find it. I answered in the affirmative and he asked what I charged. I told him I do this on a reward or gratuity bases and whatever was good with him was good with me. I heard him tell TJ and then Eric told me okay. I asked him where they were and was the ring lost in the dry sand or water. He said dry sand and gave me the location. Eric also said that they were there with a group for a bachelor’s party. They had about a 10 ft diameter circle around the area with a blue plastic bat sticking up in the middle of the circle.  I told him I had to run home and get my equipment and that I’d be there at 1 pm.

When I got to the location, there was no parking spots open so I called Eric saying I was there and just trying to find a place to park. After a couple loops around the lot a spot opened up. As I walked out on the beach, it was packed with people. I called Eric and told him I was on the beach and asked which way – right or left. I told him I was headed that way and was holding my detector up in the air. After making my way thru the crowd to the first row of sunbathers, I saw one of the guys running my way waving his arm. Right behind him was TJ. I asked TJ how he lost his ring. He said they were having wheelbarrow races and he felt his ring come off in the sand. I followed them over to meet the rest of the group and then to the circle and blue bat. Knowing the ring was platinum; I knew I was looking for a VDI right around 12 on the screen of the Equinox 800. I turned my machine on, split the circle in half and walked 3 or 4 steps across. Turned around and took 3 steps back and got the 12 on the screen I was looking for. I looked up at TJ and gave him a little smile; the rest of the group saw me and broke out with laughter. One small scoop of sand and I had his ring in the scoop. As I shook the sand out, I asked him if he could hear the clang. I didn’t even look in the scoop; I just held it up for TJ to retrieve his treasure. Total search time was maybe 10-15 seconds. Cheers were loud; including coming from a number of sunbathers who knew what was going on.

Lost and Found Tungsten Ring, Stafford, Virginia

June 8th: Found and returned a Tungsten-Carbide ring lost in the snow five months ago.

On January 3rd, Stafford, Virginia experienced a big snowstorm. Jeremy’s backyard had so much snow, it broke a large cherry tree. Despite the obstructions from the tree, Jeremy and his three sons broke out the sleds and put the snow to good use! While sledding down the hill, Jeremy raised his arms to shield his face from tree branches. That’s when his wedding ring came off. He searched for several hours, to no avail. Months later, Jeremy heard about “The Ring Finders” and contacted me.

Anyone living in this area can describe how going south on I95 on an afternoon is a sure bet for slow traffic. I correctly gambled that the express lanes toll fee of $15 would save me time. That and the $15 for my gas is why many Ring Finders have a call out fee.

A couple of years ago, my friend Brian Rudolph shared the Equinox Visual Display Indicator (VDI) range for Tungsten-Carbide rings.  Using his numbers and my own experience, I set a reasonable range for targets with the accept/reject option before beginning my search.

Jeremy showed me the area where he felt the ring fall off. With Jeremy, his wife, and three sons watching, I assembled my equipment and began a methodical sweep of the area. I picked up a couple of trash targets (common in all lawns), making sure they would not interfere with the ring’s signal. About thirty minutes later, I received a strong steady signal. I looked down and saw Jeremy’s ring partially covered by debris. Despite being a heavy ring, it was not more deeply buried after four months! It was such a pleasure to find and return Jeremy’s ring.

Diamond Engagement ring found in Central Ontario

I was contacted by a lady early last week about her soon to be daughter in law, having lost her custom made diamond engagement ring. They had been working in the backyard, cleaning up old flower beds and trimming trees, for preparations of upcoming wedding reception. She had removed her ring and placed it inside a zippered pocket, to avoid loosing her precious ring. However, she was also using the same pocket to carry fence ties in order to put up a new fence. Somehow, while in the process of reaching for the ties multiple times over the course of the afternoon, her diamond ring fell out. After looking for a couple days with friends and metal detectors with no success, I was asked to come down and try to find the ring for them. An hour or so into the search, found the ring under foliage, on the neighbour’s side of the fence, in thick vegetation. The lady was absolutely ecstatic and extremely happy the ring was found. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet the young lady and her fiancé, since they live out of town and weren’t there during the search. But did get a very appreciative phone call. Very happy to be able to reunite them with their custom ring and in time for their upcoming wedding. They respectfully requested not to use their pictures or video to protect their privacy. All ends well with another happy customer. 😊

Class ring found – Dauphin Island, Alabama

It was quite some time ago when Brittnee’s mom asked if I could find her daughter’s lost class ring. It was very sentimental to her as it had been bought for her by her now deceased grandmother.  The only problem was that she gave me a very large search area on the beach – everywhere from up by the dunes playing volleyball to swimming all the way out to some sea wall rocks. I went and searched with no luck. Because it’s a beach where I detect frequently, I looked again. And again. And again ! It took me 18 months to get that smile, but persistence pays off !!

Designer Ring Recovered in Belmar NJ by Dennis Burlingame

Got a call from fellow RingFinder Steve Pacifico asking if I could do a recovery in Belmar. I got the contact information and gave CJ a call. Told him I’d be there to meet him in a few. Once at the beach CJ told me while playing ball with his friends, going up to hit the ball he felt his ring fly off his finger. He knew the area he was in and I started gridding the area. I covered the whole area ( some 20 square feet or so ) with no results. He had another « silver » ring he had bought from the same dealer and I put that into the sand to check what signal I was looking for. Turned out that ring gave a complete different signal that a silver ring would so I thought the lost ring would do the same and I went back over the area, still no luck. I reached out to my buddy Matty asking him what he thought about it. He suggested expanding the area and just dig everything you hear. So I did, both side and the out further then where he said it should be. About 5 more passes out further I got a crisp silver signal and sure enough out pops his ring, about 30 feet from where he was standing. He couldn’t believe it flew that far. He was so happy and grateful to get his ring, he started giving up hope that I was going to find it. I’m just glad I stayed with it and was able to find it for him.
