How to find a ring in the sand

Ring finder lbi beach haven ship bottom I was at a family picnic when I received a call from Anthony, stating that he had just lost his beautiful cross on the beach, somewhere in the area they were sitting. It was early afternoon and I told him I would be able to swing by soon, and to secure the area so nobody else came and setup their beach things in the exact same spot. Anthony assured me that was not a problem because they were there for the entire day, plus the fact he was very anxious to get his cross back where it belonged around his neck. We spoke about the events leading up to the mishap, that’s when he told me about the big creator he and his friends had dug that day in the sand where they were sitting. He said they had all been digging around looking for the cross for quite a while, but were positive it must be there somewhere, because he had spent the best part of the morning there, digging. It was then I asked them to please stop digging otherwise the cross may get buried to deep for my machine to pick it up. When I arrived I could see the creator from the dune walkover, and it was pretty big. Sure enough, it was close to 4′ deep, and roughly 6′ in circumference. I hopped in, scanned the entire bottom and the walls, without even a squeak of a sound from my metal detector. Next, I scanned the piles of sand they had pulled out of the hole with no luck either. I asked them to pull the piles down lower, to an average of no more than 10″ higher than the regular beach level. Once again, no luck anywhere, so only one more place to look was the bottom, after they pulled about 10″ of sand out. Now, with all the sand moving, I assured that the cross was positively NOT in, or anywhere around the crater. So, back to the drawing board, where he mentioned they were tossing a football on the tide line earlier, and that his friend did tackle him there. I told him I really wish he mentioned that earlier, as the tide had been rising very quickly. Once he showed me the area, the cross was in my scoop within 2 minutes. If Anthony told me that one detail of the day, my search would have started there, and all the sand moving could have been eliminated. Lost of detective work is needed to rescue items from their hiding places.

Later in the night, I got a text from Jennifer requesting assistance in locating her son’s misplaced religious medallion and necklace in Ocean City, NJ. The necklace was given to him by his grandmother and is very sentimental. After inquiring for further details, I set out and quickly reached the location. There, I asked Liam some questions to gather additional information. I then started the search on the beach behind where Liam had been surfing earlier in the day. Ultimately, the missing necklace was recovered. It was a great ending to a late Saturday night in Ocean City, NJ!

Family Heirloom Ring, Lost at Dock ( 2nd trip back) Point Pleasant NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

  • from Lavallette (New Jersey, United States)

The ring finders south Jersey ring finder lbiHow to find lost ring The ring finders south jersey Ring Finder LBIIf you didn’t have a chance to read the original story, Jennifer had lost 2 ring in the water where they dock their boat. I recovered the one ring (wedding band) on the first trip, but the beautiful family heirloom diamond ring was hiding on the muddy bottom, in a location that my metal detector had not yet covered. It was getting late so I packed it in for the day and promised I would return after vacation in a few weeks. It was a safe location, otherwise I would have never postponed looking for the second ring. We made arrangements as I usually do prior to showing up, and quickly got to work upon my arrival. I decided to use my other machine with the 6′ coil, as the target location is a much more concentrated location. The reason for that was because marina locations tend to be very trashy, due to the fact that once an item is dropped into the water, its usually forgotten about. The larger coil I had used on the first recovery attempt was picking up to many signals at one time, therefore the beautiful filigree diamond ring was getting overpowered by other metallic items on the bottom. WELL, that was obviously a good idea because I had Jennifer’s ring in my scoop in under 5 minutes.

Yesterday morning, Allison reached out to me in a panic about her lost ring from the previous night in Ocean City, NJ. Her beautiful gold Tiffany ring had slipped from her fingers and disappeared into the sandy beach as she was pulling out some clothing from her bag. Determined to help her, we met on the beach and I immediately began scanning the area with my metal detector. And then, just like that, a signal! With one swift scoop, I unearthed her precious ring. The look of relief and joy on Allison’s face was priceless. Another successful recovery mission in the books!

I received a call from Christina who lost her gold Tiffany earring yesterday while playing a game of baseball with her children on the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey.  She wasn’t sure where it was lost, so I started with where her son drew home base in the sand. I put the coil down and heard the signal within a minute.  The first dig was the last dig in this quick recovery.

Wildwood, NJ – On a sunny afternoon, Pablo lost his wedding band when he shook out his beach towel and watched as his wedding band slipped off his finger and disappeared into the sand. He reached out to me the following day for help in retrieving his ring. With a detailed description of his location on the beach in hand, I set out to search for the ring. Upon arrival, I carefully surveyed the area, mentally marking the boundaries to ensure a methodical approach. Equipped with my metal detector, I began to sweep across the marked zone. It wasn’t long before the detector’s beeping signaled a find. The wedding band was pulled from the sand! The ring was returned!

(PART 2 – The search continues for Emily’s lost rose gold and diamond wedding ring!)

After successfully finding Emily’s lost engagement ring, it was time to look for the wedding band. I searched all over that particular area where the blanket had been picked up but there was no more rose gold to be found at that time. Emily called her friend to ask her where she walked up a particular hill when they left towards the parking lot after the game. The idea was that there was a good chance that the ring stayed in the blanket and then fell somewhere on the hill as the young lady had made her way towards the asphalt.

I grid searched the entire rest of the area including the hill and unfortunately I did not find the wedding band. That’s when Steve contacted Emily’s girlfriend one more time and asked again for more detail. She remembered folding up the blanket which then gave us a good indication that the ring would have had to fall out of the blanket prior to walking towards the parking lot!

I immediately returned to the earlier search site down where I found the engagement ring. This time, I did a perpendicular grid search to see if maybe the ring had landed on an angle down in the grass which prevented me from getting a good signal earlier from the opposite direction. As it turned out, I indeed found Emily’s very special rose gold wedding band! It had not been very far from where the other ring was all that time! By doing the perpendicular grid, I hit that ring perfectly and the signal could not have been more obvious! Steve and I were so excited for Emily! We called her up on FaceTime and surprised her just moments after I successfully recovered the lost jewel from beneath the thick blades of grass! My client was thrilled at the news and relieved as well as at the sight of seeing her MIA gold and diamond filled wedding band that had been lost for three days in a very public environment! Even the grass had been cut earlier that day which could have potentially destroyed the irreplaceable jewelry!

In the end, both the engagement ring and the wedding band were successfully recovered! As a ring finder, there’s no greater feeling than helping people like Emily and Tyler! I am so glad that I talked Emily out of giving up and filing an insurance claim! Because of my passion for finding lost sentimental keepsakes, I was able to save yet another set of irreplaceable symbols of love that no insurance company could ever replicate!

Lost Wedding Band in Grant, Alabama…FOUND by Huntsville Ring Finder!

Christina McCree – Ring Finder/Metal Detectorist for northern Alabama and southern/middle Tennessee…call or text ASAP, anytime 24/7…610-504-6135

On Thursday (May 30th, 2024), I received a call from Chase stating he lost his tungsten wedding band on Monday, which was his 2-year wedding anniversary.  He had taken the ring off and put it in his pocket while doing the dishes.  Afterwards, he put 2 sets of keys in his pocket and went outside.  He took out one set of keys in front of his RV, and then took out the other set in-front of his car.  He later remembered the ring in his pocket, but it was gone.  We were both available on Sunday, so we planned a search for that morning.

I met Chase and his wife, Lindsey, at their home in Grant, Alabama around 9am on Sunday, June 2nd.  I had Chase show me where he was standing when he took out both sets of keys.  Not a huge area, but enough grass to easily hide a heavy tungsten ring.  I started searching at the first spot in front of the RV.  I didn’t receive any good ring like targets, so I moved to the second spot.  Soon after, I had a nice repeatable ring tone and could just barely see Chase’s wedding band!  I called Chase and Lindsey over to see if they could spot it, but it was hard to see amongst the grass.  Needless to say, Chase was very happy to have his wedding ring back!

We took some photos and chatted for a few minutes before my drive back to Huntsville.  Really nice meeting these folks and always happy to help!  I thank God the Father and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the successful recovery and safe travels.  Until the next adventure… please take care and God bless!

Lost wedding ring found under dock, Cocoa Beach, Florida…and returned to grateful owner!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

Doug and his wife had just returned from a beautiful day out on the water fishing and as they unloaded some personal items onto the dock a very special ring dropped from the small table and bounced and managed to fall directly through one of the cracks and into the water below. This was a super sentimental ring and meant the world to Doug’s dear wife. Doug got right at trying to find someone who could retrieve the ring and looked up « Ring Finder » on his phone. Theringfinders.com service came up and he noticed a number of members of this service were in the area but none of them were equipped to do an underwater search of this kind. Doug eventually found my number and gave me a call.

It was the middle of December and I attempted a recovery dive but the water was just way too cold and we decided to try again later on the following summer. So in May when the weather and water temperatures were much more bearable I showed up to give it another try. The oyster shells were strewn across the bottom and this made digging difficult and the visibility was only a foot or two…until I would start digging and then visibility went to 10 inches. Other members of theringfinders.com have shared a wonderful idea that helps with grid searching in these types of conditions and that is a sinking pvc square that will sit on the bottom which allows me to methodically search an area even though I cannot actually see where I am going or where I have been but by following the grid with one hand and scanning the bottom with my small handheld metal detector with the other hand…I can cover an area very thoroughly and when finished I am able to move the pvc grid to another area and thoroughly search that area as well until I find what I am looking for. (Doug had also informed me that a few years back the dock was completely destroyed in a hurricane…so there was an awful lot of other signals to sift through before God allowed me to find Doug’s wife’s lost ring!)

What an honor it was to help find and return this precious lost ring to its rightful owner!!

How can I help you? Call or text me ASAP at 321-363-6029!
