Lost Wedding Band Found! Doylestown PA John Favano

Mark lost his wedding band while splitting wood in his backyard this past weekend.  He removed his gloves a few times during the process and thought the ring must have come off that way.  He searched the area for a few hours and even went as far as to disassemble the cord of wood to look for it. I received a call from his wife Lindsay yesterday who told me about the situation, and we planned to meet today.  After a few passes with the Equinox, I found the ring in the soil under a pile of leaves. The ring is now back where it belongs!

White Gold and Diamond Ring Found at Kai Iwi Lakes

Sam and his wife were spending some time at the beautiful Kai Iwi lakes in the Far North of New Zealand.

His wife had waded out to the edge of the drop off for a swim, and when she returned to the car, realised the ring was missing.

Sam met me on site, and we discussed areas, marking out the search limits and I waded out with the marker floats.

I had just dropped the second float when the ring, an absolute stunner by the way, made itself known just in front of me!

One of the fastest recoveries yet, and inside the initial search area for once …Just.

Gold Ring lost at Kai Iwi Lakes – Found!

Back at Kai Iwi for the second time in three days for another lost ring. Thanks to Halley sending me a detailed video clip taken on the day, I was able to save him the three hour trip back up from Auckland.
I was a little concerned seeing evidence of metal detector activity from the last couple of days, and despite their tracks walking right past the ring, they had missed it!

This where the experience and skills of Ringfinders comes in, with patience and a disciplined approach to ensure 95%+ coverage of the loss area.

As a result, just after sunrise I had the ring in the scoop. I sent a photo of it to a very relieved Halley, followed by a quick swim to celebrate, and headed home.

Lost diamond engagement ring, Ocoee, Fl…..Found and Returned!

Theresa and her husband had just finished up with a wonderful visit from their kids. It was dark outside as the kids and grandkids pulled away from the house and Theresa walked out the front door and down the side walk a few steps to wave goodbye. (Apparently Theresa has lost some weight in the last few months and her rings were just a bit loose on her finger.) And as she continued to wave goodbye, all of a sudden, she felt her diamond engagement ring come off of her finger. Stunned, she let out a cry and immediately began looking in the bushes and thru the mulch hoping to find it. Her kids stopped and returned to the house to help look and no matter how hard they tried…they just could not find her lost ring…even after two hours. They even used a small metal detector and it made lots of strange noises and led to more frustration rather than actually helping. And the later it got, the less hope they had of finding Theresa’s lost ring.

A quick google search led Theresa to theringfinders.com and that gave her hope. And after a brief call I made arrangements to meet and conduct a thorough search the very next day and upon meeting Theresa and hearing her story I felt quite confident that her lost engagement ring could be found.

I searched the larger side of the sidewalk for twenty minutes, with my Garrett ATMax metal detector, where Theresa felt her ring had most likely fallen off and into the bushes and still no ring. I even had her try on two test rings and both times the rings flew off in a small area. After 25 minutes on my hands and knees and no ring, I said, « I wonder if it flew off in the other direction? » And sure enough, there behind her, next to a flower pot buried under two inches of mulch was Theresa’s beautiful diamond engagement ring!

It was an honor to help Theresa and to find her lost ring and return it to where it belongs. Have you lost something recently?

Found Ring Yakima Washington

Nice Ring and happy family

Received a call for a ring lost in a garden area. He was certain it had fallen off in a 10*10 area. They met July 4th and he proposed the next day. After a one year engagement they were married. Now married for a year. This ring was not only expensive, but he tells me the sentimental value was priceless.

In this search area power lines were just above and there was tons of interference. My detector selected a quiet channel and the hunt began.

Filled with nails in one part made it nearly impossible to hunt. After about an hour of grid searching I was certain the detector would not find it so switched to a ground hunt crawling over the area with my pin pointer. It took about 20 minutes and I found it.

Always a nice surprise to find the ring and the relief and happiness it brought was a great reward. He also gave me a nice reward for my efforts.

Diamond and Gold Ring Lost While Swimming at Paihia – Found!

Diana was visiting the Bay of Islands for Waitangi Day, and decided to go for a dip to cool off after the drive up.

Sadly, the cold water shrunk her fingers and the ring flew off as her arm came over on the first stroke when she started her swim.   Fortunately her friend was there and made a note of roughly where she was, and current state of the tide.  She contacted me the following day to see if I was able to help.

It appeared to be a relatively easy recovery. I was given a start point and direction the ring was thought to have gone. After 5 hours and covering almost quarter of square kilometre of quiet bay to 98% confidence, including just over 3kg of fishing weights, I decided it wasn’t there.

Falling back to my mantra of « Assume Nothing, Believe No-one, Confirm Everything » I wiped the slate and worked on basis that the only 100% definite was I knew where she had entered the water, and that was the last time she knew she had the ring on.

Very shortly after, I reached down under the coil in the knee-deep shallows and felt the ring sitting under a clump of seaweed on the surface of the rock. Three of the largest diamonds I’ve seen sparkled brightly as they broke the surface of the muddy water.  Job Done.

I would have liked to deliver it in person, but had to settle with giving it a clean and polish, a bit of gift wrapping, and sending it back by courier.

It’s now back on her finger, hopefully for good  🙂

Lost diamond earring, Winter Park, Fl….Found!

Sunday afternoon David gave me a call and asked if I could possibly help him find a very special lost diamond stud earring! Two days earlier, David’s mother in law, Mrs Susan, was getting out of her car and a small low hanging tree branch got tangled in her hair and she felt a slight tug at her ear and in the next moment her earring was gone! They immediately searched the thick low ivy bushes, along the concrete and even in the car thinking maybe it could have fallen in there as well. After an hour of frantic searching they could not find the lost diamond stud earring and decided to try again later.

As David thought about how to find the earring he went online and looked up where he could rent a metal detector and that search led him to « theringfinders.com » and one of my recent search and recovery stories.

I met David at his mother in laws home and he promptly showed me the area where Mrs Susan lost her precious earring. The ivy ground cover was super thick and as I turned on my Garrett ATMax metal detector and tried to ground balance the machine I had a very difficult time finding an area free of metal. I then tested the matching stud earring and it gave a very weak signal because it contained such a small amount of white gold. Unfortunately the rebar in the concrete and other underground interference would not allow me to use my metal detector so I opted to go with my Garrett Pro Pointer AT. As I started working my way along the edge of the thick ivy ground cover, David squatted down just in front and to the side of me and began searching with his eyes and he said, « There it is!! » And sure enough, there was Mrs Susan’s lost diamond stud earring. We could hardly believe it…as David, his wife and Mrs Susan had searched the area a couple of times and had all but given up hope!

It was an honor to have a small part in helping find this beautiful earring and I hope and pray it remains in your family for many years to come!

24 Karat 44 gm Gold nugget found Kendall Miami Florida.

I got a call to find a 24 Karat 44 gm gold nugget.  It was used in a contest  . The contest was to find the gold nugget in any of the 6  .. 1 ton  burlap bags of dirt. Unfortunately the client couldn’t find  the nugget in the 1 ton burlap bag they knew it to be in after no contestants could find it . So I went to the commercial location where the nugget was at and attempted to find it with my metal detector. but the nails in the pallet interfered and also the writing on the bags interfered. So the client had to take it to a different site so we could dump all the dirt out. once we could dump the dirt out it was found very quickly

Treasured Gold Ring Lost at Russell, Found by Metal Detectorist

I had just got home from a recreational detecting session when I received the call for a lost gold wedding ring at Russell in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand.

All the gear was still in the car so a quick battery swap and on my way.

I arrived at the scene an hour later and Nathan and his wife took me through the scenario.
Nathan had been in chest deep water at the local beach when he took the ring off his finger, I believe, to check the looseness of his new wedding ring.
Whatever the reason, fate intervened, the fingers slipped and the ring sank to the seafloor and into the sand.
Fortunately he had presence to mind to stay put and several nearby swimmers and snorkellers all had a go at retrieving it, although as we Ringfinders know all too well, rings are rather adept at quickly burrowing into the sand with any disturbance.

Shortly after, we were joined by Paul (forgive me if I have forgotten your name) who I award the title of Honorary Ringfinder.

Paul had made a mental note at the time of the initial attempts of a couple of landmarks which would help relocate the Point Last Seen. He was also game to snorkel out to find the depression in the sand from the earlier efforts and drop my marker float. This quick thinking and assistance greatly boosted the odds, and I thank him.

The tide by now was far too high to hunt without SCUBA, so I eliminated the shallows « Believe no-one, Assume Nothing, Confirm Everything » then settled in for a wait as the tide dropped.

I passed the time deflecting curious swimmers, and one jet ski, all of whom seemed intent on moving my critical marker float. Drawn to it like moths to a flame… although it was rather amusing watching the behaviours change as they spotted the marker bobbing around and changed course directly for it, only to be intercepted by a concerned RingFinder rushing into the tide to explain what it was, and to please leave it there….!

After a couple of hours, the water was just under nostril height and I could get out to the Search Area. I found the depression and was concerned by the depth of the crater formed by a well-meaning snorkeller and feared they may have disturbed the bottom enough to allow the ring to settle deep into the gravels. I checked the hole with no results so started a systematic search pattern. I would return to the crater if the ring wasn’t located.

After a few grids, there was a bright tone, I’d heard many of these today which had all turned out to be pulltabs from drink cans, but on a ring recovery you have to dig every target.

On the third bite with the scoop I shook the sand and gravel out and was left with a handful of shells – and a ring. I held it up to show Paul, who responded from the beach with a celebratory cheer.

About an hour later I managed to catch up with Nathan and Anita in Paihia for an emotional reunion.

The ring had belonged to Nathans Grandfather who never took it off following his wedding day. Nathan was continuing the tradition, and I am honoured to be able to reverse what they thought was an irretrievable loss and ensure the story of his ring can continue.

A young couple who became engaged on Christmas were completely devastated after an evening walk in North Toronto went horribly bad . Snow had accumulated in their neighborhood to about 6 inches buy that evening. The couple explained while brushing snow off with her hand the young bride to be felt her diamond engagement ring fly off and into the surrounding snow banks which were about 1 foot deep. Hours of searching on hand and knee digging through the cold snow was all in vain and they couldn’t find the precious ring. The young lady could not hold back the tears and the couple were devastated knowing they had no insurance on the expensive ring.

A very common thing for newly engaged young couples! I will often encourage them to add these precious items to their home insurance and also have a jeweler inscribe a name and possibly contact info inside the valuable ring. Most jewelers can do this for a very nominal fee and it is well worth the cost if found by someone else.

After a couple of days the husband in desperation started googling lost Rings and of course came across The Ring Finders web site and my contact info.
Once the young man contacted me I immediately made my way there. Just coming off a successful under water ring find in the Niagara region of Ontario I felt time was of the essence for this recovery.

Once a ring has been lost in a public area especially along a city sidewalk, the clock is ticking down and its only a matter of time before someone else eventually finds it .

Unfortunately I have arrived to the same type of scenario where the person who out of desperation posted signs that a ring was lost in the area. I’ve also seen posted signs with a photo of the ring, detailed description of it and where it was lost! The sign had a diagram of almost the precise location to where the ring is laying. Basically advertising to the not so honest among us FREE RING CHECK HERE👇.

Not a good idea at all! Luckily this couple found Ring Finders onliner. Once I arrived we had one big problem, the electrical transformer box and it was not much more than 3 feet away from where the ring came off in the snow. When it comes to any metal detector if you’re too close to electronic interference you will hear it big time on your detector. However a neighborhood transformer is the worst kind of interference possible. Being so close to such a large amount of interference will cause multiple sounds even at the lowest set discrimination on the detector. Truthful the detector sounded like a Las Vegas slot machine hitting the jackpot on New Year’s eve. I was worried!

However myself and many other Ring Finders on this site are highly skilled and trained having experience with this type of situation. A trained ear and knowing the sound of gold amongst all those bad signals on a is key in this type of recovery.
I grid the area quickly and only after a few minutes in between all the chaotic chirps, beeps and tones a familiar tone coming from beneath snow. Jackpot!

The white flakes and tears kept falling for a few minutes after I pulled out the georgous ring. However this time they were tears of joy and the young couple were again reunited with their beautiful diamond ring.
