Merry had realized that her custom gold ring was missing while spending the afternoon on one of the small coves in Laguna Beach, CA. She had been playing with her dog on the upper beach and also throwing a frisbee lower on the beach near the surf line.

After a couple hours searching the dry sand with no success, she was able to contact me using a google search. I was able to meet her on the beach before she had to leave.  Merry told me that this was a very special ring that was given to her years ago, celebrating a very important day in her life. It worried her because she had not felt the ring leave her finger and it was a large search area.

After hearing her story, I felt the most likely place to start was where she had spent the most time. The area where she was throwing the frisbee seemed the best place to lose a ring, that would be next. The area had large rocks and driftwood that could be challenging.

We were lucky to start in the right location and it only took a few minutes swing my detector coil over a sting solid signal. One scoop about 6 inches deep and a beautiful unique custom gold ring was clanking in the bottom of my scoop.

Merry was standing just a few feet from me. She heard the heavy metal banging in my scoop. I held the scoop close enough for her to see her precious ring inside. An instantly she  screamed with joy and a big smile.

It was a great search that went well. With all the obstacles and a large search area it could been much more difficult. Every search is an adventure.

Sokni and her family will be moving into a new home. She was worried that there may be nails or sharp metal objects in the backyard where her young children would be playing. She called me asking if I could use my metal detector to remove possible dangerous metal objects.

I asked if she had any reason that there were such objects in the yard. She told me that she just had a feeling that there might be metal trash because the house was about 30 years old. ‘We agreed to meet her the next day figuring that this would be a quick little search that would give Sokni peace of mind.

After scanning the first 20 feet of lawn, I was surprised to find several sharp screws, nails and a old razor blade. The general area was loaded with ferrous and non ferrous signals near the surface. This was a challenge to me and a good chance to dig all metals. Normally I’m just searching for precious metals.

This search took several sessions to complete the project and I was able to spread it out over a couple 3 hour searches. The photos show what was in the backyard. I couldn’t believe how many sharp items were in that small yard.

Today began with a whirlwind of activity, just as I thought my day was winding down, I received a call from Stuart regarding his lost white gold wedding band at Rincon Beach in Carpinteria. Despite the beautiful sunny weather and a joyous birthday celebration, Stuart’s day took an unexpected turn when he realized his cherished ring was missing amidst the sand.

Lost Gold Wedding Band McCauley Neighborhood Edmonton, Alberta

I received a call on Thursday from Mike requesting my assistance to help him find his wedding ring which he had lost a couple of weeks ago. When I asked Mike how he had lost his ring he replied that he picked up a runner off his dresser because it had some dirt on it. He had walked out of the front door to shake the runner and thought he had heard a ping noise but without realizing what it was, He returned back into the house. After a couple of days Mike realized his ring was missing from his dresser. He searched high and low for the ring in the house with no luck. He then recalled the ping nose that he had heard, and that it must have been his ring that hit the sidewalk and bounced on the lawn. Mike spent hours looking for the ring with no luck.
I stopped in on Mike this morning and he showed me the area where he thought the ring could be. I searched through dead leaves and pine needles and I told Mike that since the foliage was near the same colour as his ring it would be very hard to locate the ring with the naked eye. I searched the other side of his side walk and found his ring neatly covered in pine needles. Mike was very grateful that he had found me on the Internet.

Another happy client.

Thank you Mike and Maryann.

Laura was at Huntington State Beach with her family all day Sunday. She believed that her Rose Gold Diamond engagement ring fell in the sand when she removed her sweater from her beach bag. Late Wednesday night she found TheRingFinders website while researching metal detectors on line.

It was almost midnight when she sent me an email. She was asking if I could help her. It was 9 am Thursday morning when I read and replied to her email, asking her to call me ASAP. Emails are nice but it was another couple hours till we were able to set up a meeting on the beach.

We were lucky that it wasn’t Huntington City Beach which has very efficient beach sifting equipment. Also this time of year there is always a chance that recreational detectorist may have found it, not knowing who to return it to.

As we walked towards the fire pits where the ring was lost. I tried not to tell Laura about the negative possibilities that could hamper our search. Laura showed me the first of two places it could be. Setting up my detector, I took a couple practice swings. Beginning my grid I got nice solid signal that didn’t quite sound like gold. After scooping the target, I could see the rose gold engagement ring in the scoop. Rose gold is a composite of metals that gives a little different ID reading than other precious metals.

Laura lit up like a light when she saw it in the scoop. She gave me a big smile for the photo as you can see. We walked back to our cars and she was full of joy all the way there. She had four miserable days worrying that her ring was gone forever. Now the ring was back where it belongs. It was definitely a pleasure to help her, it never gets old doing this. Thanks for TheRingFinders website and the internet.

Lost Rings at Night! – Pensacola Beach – FOUND!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

Well, I’m not sure if this counts as 2 rings or more but I am sure that Kelly and Bill are absolutely thrilled that I was able to put them back on her hands where they belong. Kelly and Bill have been married for 25 years and have been down vacationing from Michigan. Kelly folded her rings into her swimsuit early in the day for safekeeping and forgot they were there when she got up later to meet her sister. You can imagine her shock when she realized they were gone that evening. Kelly went ahead and called me even though it was nighttime and I’m glad she didn’t wait. Bill had gone out with a sand flea rake for fishing and combed the area already to no avail. I told him later that he had actually just made the rings go deeper and deeper every time he disturbed the sand because of the density of gold. Luckily for Kelly and Bill, I have a wonderful wife and even though we were at dinner 30 minutes away, she offered to ride with me and we immediately went home and grabbed my gear. I met Bill in the parking lot and he walked me down to the area he thought they had lost them. I could see all of the rake marks and I told Bill I would start my search there and then fan out if needed. I absolutely love night searches on the beach. It’s nice and cool and you can hear the waves over the hum of the machine in my headphones. You can enjoy the stars without bumping into sunbathers and it’s just a great time to enjoy what I do. I also knew that I had a very anxious couple waiting on the outcome so I was very glad that as I made my first pass I heard a faint gold sound. I was a little surprised at how deep it was even though I knew Bill had thoroughly raked the area. When my first gentle scoop to five inches came back empty I thought to myself that they were very lucky they called me and I had the machine that I was using. The second scoop was the charm and I reached down and dug the first ring out of the scoop to make sure I didn’t scratch it. When I saw that I had them both in the scoop, I smiled and handed them to Bill. With a shaky hand, he asked me to hold the light and he took a picture and sent it to Kelly in the room so she could stop worrying immediately. We walked back up and told my wife that I was already done in less than 10 minutes and Bill asked us both to come up and meet Kelly. When we walked in the door I was quickly reminded why I do this. Bill and Kelly both got choked up remembering how much those rings had been a part of over the last 25 years. I was glad that my wife got to witness that and I hope Bill and Kelly have many, many more happy years together. 👍😃

Lost Earring, Found Hope: A Tale of Precious Recovery in Oxnard Shores CA

  • from Santa Barbara (California, United States)

Amidst the hustle of the afternoon, a frantic call from Laurie pierced through—a half-carat diamond earring lost, buried somewhere in her yard near the Oxnard beachfront. With desperation in her voice, Laurie recounted her frantic search, moving earth in a desperate bid to reclaim her cherished earring. Laden with sentimental value, the earring held a special place in Laurie’s heart, fueling her hope for recovery.

Armed with my trusty Minelab Equinox, I embarked on the mission, meticulously scouring the yard inch by inch. The delicate stem of the earring proved elusive to the detector’s grasp, necessitating a hands-on approach. Down on hands and knees, with my propointer in hand, I combed through the earth, sifting through layers of soil and debris.

As the search unfolded, rusted screws and forgotten staples emerged, teasingly leading the way. Despite Laurie’s insistence that the lost earring couldn’t be in the vicinity, an instinctual tug prompted a thorough investigation. And then, in a serendipitous moment, a telltale tone echoed through the air, signaling a breakthrough. With bated breath, I unearthed the buried treasure—a glimmering half-carat diamond earring, gleaming amidst the earth.

Laurie’s jubilation knew no bounds, tears of relief mingling with joy. In that moment, the profound satisfaction of aiding another in need washed over me—a sentiment that rings true to the essence of Ringfinders.
