Lost ring at Mission Bay found

My wife and I were packing our car for a short trip out of state, when I received a call for help finding a class ring at Mission Bay. Sahba was playing a game with her husband and a group of friends two days previous, when her ring came off and disappeared into the sand at De Anza Cove beach.  They all searched on their hands and knees and even using a sifter, but, without success. We met them on our way out of town and hoped for an easy return. It wasn’t all that easy, even though they knew the exact area and it wasn’t all that big. LOTS of iron and other junk made it a slow process. After gridding and cross-gridding, it finally came to light. A pleasure to meet you two and thank you for the reward.

Ring lost in the sand on San Diego Bay Found!

Zack left an urgent message on my cell phone voice mail stating that he had lost his 4 day old wedding ring in the sand across the street from where he was staying on his honeymoon. When I finally heard the message, I called him back for the details and arranged to meet him there at 11pm. We both arrived a bit early and Zack escorted me down to the area were he had lost it 3 hours earlier. He had been brushing sand off his hands by rubbing them on his pants when the unthinkable happened……the ring went flying into the sand and disappeared. Zack contemplated renting or buying a detector but found The Ring Finders online and decided to give us a try. Initially, I was told it was a silver ring, so, I expected a high pitched screamer for a target on my E-trac. Right after I fired my machine up, I get a low pitched, solid 12-06 moaner in my ears on my first swing. I asked again about the metal it was made of, and he said « silver, but it has some gold in it too ». Great, now I need to scoop virtually all non-ferrous sounds, starting with this one. Well, in this case, first time was the charm, as this 12-06 was his ring! So much for it being mainly silver. A happy Zack couldn’t believe I found it so quick. Getting me to the right spot was the key here, so, good job Zack! I hope you and your new bride enjoy the rest of your stay here. Great to meet you and thank you for the reward.

Engagement Ring Lost, Found, and Returned at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

On a Saturday, my fiancée and I were hanging out on the beach near the edge of the water. I thought it would be fun to roll into the water but did not realize how hard the waves were crashing. Before I knew it my ring slipped off and into the water. I looked around, but could not find it. My friends and fiancée also tried to help me, but we had no luck due to the choppy conditions. The next day my fiancée did a search for, “missing rings in Largo, Fl”, and that’s when he found Ring Finders! He went to the Suncoast Research and Recovery Club page and sent an email in hopes that someone could help. Stan immediately contacted him and got more information. We were not able to go out the following day, but that Tuesday we arrived at the same location we lost it around 6pm. I was praying that no one had found it already, but after a 20-minute search, Chris had indeed found something!

I was beyond ecstatic and we are so grateful for Stan, Chris, and Ed for helping me get my lost ring back. I thought for sure it was lost forever so we want to thank all the volunteers at Suncoast Research and Recovery Club for all they do and hope they can continue finding treasures for many years to come!

LOST GOLD MENS WEDDING BAND FOUND AT CAPE HENLOPEN STATE PARK IN LEWES, Delaware

On 09/06/15, I received a phone call from a gentleman regarding a lost wedding band. The gentleman advised me that he was fishing at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Del. when his rose gold wedding ring slipped off his finger and fell into the sand. The gentleman asked if I would assist him in locating his lost ring. I assured the gentleman that I would help him and that I would meet him at the site of the lost ring in a few minutes. I quickly gathered my equipment and responded to the state park where I met the gentleman and he took me to the area of the lost ring. After about five minutes I heard the sound that I was looking for and then recovered the ring with one scoop of the sand scoop. The ring was then returned to its rightful owner. Another fast recovery and another satisfied client. image

Eagle Scout returns Girl Scout Leader’s lost wedding band

A daily task somehow went wrong. The rings were taken off and were put on a Cape Cod Bracelet as they have been so many times. We will never know just what went wrong, except that a wedding band missed its place of safety and ended up in the sand. Hours of searching did not bring the ring out of hiding. Enter Rick Browne an Eagle Scout from TheRingFinders.com and his friend Jim.

The two detectorist came close to calling it quits as thoughts of the area that the ring was lost in may have greatly enlarged from a small beach area to the path back to the office and within the office building itself.

Tenacity paid off. After griding the search area Rick made one more pass on the way out. This pass, at a different angle to the beach, his detector gave off a faint signal, and two scoops of sand later the glitter of diamonds was seen. A short walk with Jill’s husband let him ready his camera so a picture could be taken when Jill removed the ring from my scoop that was now holding the ring captive. The pictures tell the rest of the story!

Toby was out for a fun day at the beach, just yards from his vacation hide-away.
A bit of catch was in order when it happened…the ball came in at just the right angle to whisk his wedding band off of his finger. The last glimpse he had of it was it flying out of sight. Game over.
Hours of searching with a rake, shovel, rented metal detector, many friends and family including his father-in-law crawling in the sand. Nothing seemed to work in the daylight…neither did flashlights in the dark of night.

His friendly neighbor started searching the world wide web and came across a site called TheRingFinders.com. Minutes later Toby was convinced to give Rick Browne a call. And so he did.

Within an hour the call was returned, tide time and weather check was made along with a meeting time for a search for the ring to begin. The next day after an introduction, bit of information gathering, the entourage was off, down the wooden stairs, the aluminum stairs (more like a swinging bridge) to the edge of the wet sand. After a quick demo of how and where the ring was lost and I began the search.

Forty-five minutes later, after covering the area I was shown plus a bit more, I was going to enlarge the area even more. One pass, one turn and three steps later my detector gave me the best signal I had had all day. A shallow scoop of sand and there it was, in my scoop, Toby’s ring. A quick rinse and it was presentable enough to let Toby retrieve his ring from the scoop. He did it in grandeur with yelps and praises. Of course with a smile a mile wide.

Lost wedding band found and returned in Chatham, MA

Alex had made a wedding band for his bride and she had made his. A beautiful pair of rings and a couple with many wonderful memories between them. And now they have one more memory. How Alex lost his ring while taking an evening beach stroll to watch a sunset. The next morning was spent raking and sifting through the sand. Only one quarter was found and that was by their son. They did have the presence of mind to inform the lifeguards who told Alex of TheRingFinders.com.

That were I came into the scenario.

After I received an E-mail I called Alex, asked a few pertinent questions and headed for the beach at 5:30am the next morning. I was lucky, Alex had remembered the precise area of loss and described it perfectly. However the previous night’s high tide was very high and washed all the way to the dunes. The sand was now pristine and very easy to grid. Though Alex had said the ring was most likely lost above the high tide line, the tide was coming in and I had to make a few passes at the water’s edge, just in case the ring was washed down the beach’s slope. Only an old pocket knife was retrieved from its sandy resting place. Back to the now dry sand I made another two passes and then bingo…the ring was in my scoop. Beautiful, the sun was rising over the dune, the ring had risen from its sandy spot and I was on my way to return the ring. I first called at a bit after 7am, no answer, had a cup of Dunkin’s Coffee, called again, still no answer, so I headed home. Just a few minutes later Alex returned my call. He gave me directions to his vacation home. I made the U-turn and Alex was wearing his ring about 45 minutes after I had found it.

Two Lost Diamond Rings Recovered in Hawi on the Big Island of Hawaii

We got an urgent call from a family on vacation who had lost two diamond rings in the water near Hawi, Hawaii (Big Island), while swimming with their children in the ocean.

We drove about 1 hour and 45 minutes to the small State Park of Keokea to recover the rings and met them in the parking lot.

It turns out that Avesta had lost both of her precious rings – one a diamond ring with a whooping 2.75 carats in platinum. The disappointment of both Avesta and her husband, Hamid, was visible at loosing their valuable rings but they were both optimistic at our chances of finding them.

I put my mask on and hit the shallow water with my Excalibur II metal detector. After a 30 minute search we had found a pocket full of coins but no rings. Swinging back into a sandy area, suddenly I heard the low growl of platinum in my metal detector’s headphones. « I don’t want to give you false hope but think I’ve found a ring, » I said.

Sure enough, the basket held a gleaming ring with nine diamonds in a row. Hamid picked it out of the basket, happy, and eager to see if the second ring was also nearby. As I put the detector back in the water, a second signal was instantly in the headphones!  And right there, we recovered both rings, one after the other, where they had been lost and sunken into the sand. The second ring we recovered was a whooping 2.75 carat diamond ring – you can see the joy and surprise on their faces on the video – when getting back their lost – and now found – treasure!

« Lucky me that I found you guys. Thank GOD!!!!! » Avesta wrote in an email the next day.  « Phewwww so lucky I am!! FYI it was our 8 year anniversary the day you found the ring, makes it even more special. »

Man’s Wedding Band Lost in the Sand – FOUND Sunset Beach NC

I got a call from Shana asking if I would help find a Silver Wedding Band lost in the sand at Sunset Beach NC. I told her I’d be glad to help but I was at the movies with my wife and I couldn’t be there until about 10pm, which she agreed to. After the movies, I called Shana to let her know I was on my way, dropped my wife off at home, grabbed my gear and headed for the beach.

I arrived just prior to 10pm and met Jake, who was the one that lost his ring, and his wife, Maria at the beach access path. On the way out to the beach Jake told me that he was playing volleyball and when he hit the ball his ring flew off, he also gave me a description of the ring. Luckily they had left the net up and set out small light loops in the area they thought the ring would be in. He also let me know that about 15 family members had been digging through the sand in an attempt to find it. I let him know, for future reference, that it’s not really a good idea to try and dig through the sand because you could actually be burying the ring  deeper.

I started a north/south grid along the length of the net and on the same side where he thought the ring was and found a few junk items but no ring. I then did an east/west grid over the same area and came up with nothing. I was getting a little concerned that the ring may have been buried due to all the digging. I took a couple of steps outside the playing area and the net pole on the far side to start an expanded search, took two steps in the new grid and Bingo. I knew immediately I had it. I took a shallow scoop, shook out the sand and there it was. I nonchalantly walked back over to Jake and asked him again to tell me exactly what he did when he felt the ring fly off his finger and then asked him to describe the ring again, once he finished I held the scoop up to him and asked him if his ring looked like this one. Once he shined his flashlight into the scoop and saw his ring he got an instant smile from ear to ear and so did Maria.  It doesn’t get any better than this! On the way back to the car, Maria let me know that they’re heading back home tomorrow so this was a Must find tonight.

Overall, this was an easy search but we were all surprised how far the ring flew from hitting the ball with open hands.
