Lost Diamond Engagement Ring at Spanish Banks Dog Park, Vancouver BC

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Yesterday at around 5 pm I received a call from a young man named Adam who asked me if I was the guy who found rings…I said  »I’m that guy »

He told me his wife had lost both of her rings in the sand and after 5 minutes they found the wedding band but they couldn’t find the platinum engagement ring.

This is most common as its a thinner band and harder to see and if you walk on it, its gone from sight.

I was  getting ready to pick up my grandson so I headed out to help them right away, he said that he and some other people at the dog Park/ beach were searching for it and I told them to stop as they could bury it deeper and make it difficult to find.

I grabbed my Minelab CTX 3030 and headed to the beach, when I got there I was greeted by Adam who was happy to see me but anxious to get started with the search.

Sitting on a log nearby was a couple of people that helped the young man and his wife search for the ring, they told me that they had invested interest in the search and wanted to see a happy ending.

The young man’s wife went home to get dinner started for their two young children so you can imagine her concern. Well I started the search in the area that they found the first ring and when It wasn’t there Adam said that his wife did go out towards the water at low tide.

I wasn’t finished searching the hot zone when I got a good hit (1310 on the CTX) and I knew this had to be the ring, I bend down and reached into the sand and pulled out a beautiful platinum diamond ring! It took about 2 minutes to find his Smile! The lady and her husband who were watching the search were as excited as we were to see it!

Lost Diamond Wedding Ring at Waikiki Beach…….FOUND

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

Friday night my friend George sent me an email that a gentlemen named Sahak Vardanyan (Sam) from Los Angeles had lost his ring in shallow water at Hilton Hawaiian Village on Wednesday. George currently only does dry land detecting so he gave me some additional locating data and I told him I would look in the AM. Time was critical as Sam and his wife Annie were leaving Sunday. My fellow ringfinder on Oahu Don met me at the beach at 0530. We brought our Excalibur’s and Don went out on scuba and I took off to do the wave curl and shallow water where the ring most likely came off. On about my fourth line in the grid search in waist deep water I got that tone we all know as GOLD. I dug in my scoop and low and behold there was a pull tab!!! What? It was definitely GOLD. I made another sweep and there was another target. Yep, fooled me the first time but the second scoop was Sam’s wedding ring. I contacted Sam by email and we met under the Rainbow Tower so I could return his ring. I think you can tell by their « Smiles » this vacation was going to be just fine. Aloha to Sam and Annie!

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring In Delta, BC…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Last night at around 10:15 pm I received a call from a young man that explained to me that his fiancé had lost her engagement ring on the side of the road where they were walking. In actual fact he accidentally pulled the ring off while holding her hand and it went flying into the grass, the ring wasn’t fitting the young lady perfectly it was a bit loose.

You can only imagine the disappointment and heartbreak this young couple felt for over an hour and a half of searching for the ring in the grass and waiting for me to arrive.

When I arrived I was greeted by  young couple and they explain the situation and  showed me what happened. I took a look at the search area and thought to myself this could be a fast recovery… but most times when I think that… it’s the exact opposite.

I set up my searchlights I set up my GoPro camera and tuned up my Garrett AT Gold and began to search, we had a young lady on a bike stop to watch and within 10 seconds I had found the ring!

Smiles everywhere! Its the greatest feeling in the world for me to see how happy you can make someone! And the young lady in the video was so happy for the couple as well. I truly have the greatest job in the world!

Cori and Drew’s Story … 4/18/15 … Califia St., San Clemente State Beach

So, Drew and I decided we would take a night to go watch the sunset at Calafia state beach in San Clemente (about 5 min drive from our house ) as a way to celebrate our engagement and get some time for just the two of us -kid-free woo hoo! Like always though, we are scrambling to gather a few items to bring (champagne, blanket, etc.) and rushing out the door to make it before the sun goes down while trying to say bye to the kids etc. We make it out the door and I even remembered my camera! When we get there I decided to put the self-timer on my camera, lay out the blanket and snap a few pics of us. I notice their is a lot of seaweed obnoxiously photo bombing us and to avoid having to Photoshop it later, I quickly start to brush it away with my hands far from our blanket where we are sitting. I continuously run to and from the camera to try to get a good shot with the self-timer.

As we are taking pictures, I suddenly notice the engagement ring is no longer on my finger!! Drew and I both panicked, retracing our steps frantically everywhere . Here we are, 15 minutes before the sun goes down , crowds of people on the beach, and we are searching for my ring. I start thinking hard , “Did I have it on before we left the house? Did it fall off in the sand? Did it fall off when I took off my sandals in the sand? “ etc. I start hearing my mother-in-laws nagging voice in my head “you should have worn it on your middle finger until you got it re-sized!” The ring was loose and too big and we hadn’t had a chance to get it resized yet.
Anyways, we searched the car, the camera bag , go back to the house , retraced all steps in the sand- NOTHING.
At this point its pitch black outside and we are freezing our butts off losing all hope that we will find it , the tide is starting to roll in and any sign of society has vanished, ha. Drew and I are both wearing helmets with lights on our heads , we rush to Big 5 to purchase a $140 metal detector , go back and pace back n forth with this little machine we have no idea how to use. Still- NOTHING
OKAY- Well, the look on Drews face- I mean seriously -I lost the ring – I also knew this was practically the same chances of finding a needle in a haystack. It is starting to set in and we are sitting in an empty beach parking lot losing hope, thinking we are just going to have to accept this as a loss .
I start to Google on my phone and discover that their are literally professional ring finders, I mean what? TheRingfinders.com , yes! I start to think “What are the chances they will even find it though? And how much are they going to charge, practically the price of the ring I bet . . “ It’s worth a shot though , I think to myself. I give a call to the one we found in our area, this sweet man is willing to drive 1.5 hours to us from his ‘Riverside Metal Detecting Contest.’ Ha. Yes, apparently there is such thing.
He arrives, this sweet man, with his $3,000 metal detecting equipment. Drew is looking at me like “ c’mon really? You think this guy is going to find it? “ All odds are against us at this point because its past beach curfew, hitting 11pm, the tide is rolling in strong and we are pooped. An officer comes and tells us we will need to leave shortly but that he can give us a little bit of time to look , he chuckles “Good luck!” while walking away.
Moments later, I hear his detector, my heart sinks, “Oh just tinfoil” he says . Still no luck. Suddenly, out of nowhere- he starts skimming an area and HE FINDS MY RING!!!! I swear- I never in a million years -thought it was possible AND if we had waited till morning to go back again and look- it would have washed away with the tide !
I am so beyond grateful! I jumped up and hugged him with tears down my face asking him over and over “HOW DID YOU FIND IT?!! I CANT BELIEVE YOU FOUND IT! OH. MY .GOSH!”
So I say to him , “OK- we now owe you big time! What do you charge for something like this?“ (Yes, you would think we would have asked him before but I guess it didn’t cross our minds because 1. We were frantic and desperate for any help 2. We couldn’t put a price on something this sentimental to us -not just materialistic)
He replies, “Well, I work on a reward system. You pay me what you can afford to give and what its worth to you for me to find it. And I give 15% of the proceeds to the children’s hospital”.
I mean seriously? Is this real? Drew and I look at each other – wow this is definitely a pay-it-forward experience.
And yes, we compensated him well for his incredible gift and generosity We are FOREVER grateful . 😉

PS.. I had started my grid in the area they had set up their blanket. I made about 5 passes from the rocks to the water about 30ft. in each direction. Asking Cori questions when she remembered moving the dried seaweed away from the photo background. I changed my grid pattern and made one pass along the top of the waterline where the seaweed was and dug the ring with a piece of tin foil in the scoop.

Lost ring found in Toronto, after Spring Gardening

  • from Toronto (Ontario, Canada)
Vivian ringPaul Davies was used to answer my prayer. I had been doing the « spring cleanup » in my garden when I noticed that the most precious of all my earthly possessions, my deceased father’s gold wedding band, was no longer on my finger. This  ring was a family heirloom, promised to my son as a memento of his grandfather’s love.   I had searched the garden on my hands and knees, dug up the flower bed again and sifted through bags of yard waste, before giving up. My heart was deeply pained with the loss. I would have gladly given up (literally) anything I owned to see the ring on my finger again and to know that my son would wear it one day.
Although I was almost without hope, I decided to search the internet for someone with a metal detector. I came across Mr. Davies and contacted him. He replied to me quickly and came to my property in Toronto to conduct the search. Within 10 minutes, the lost ring was back on my finger! I will be forever grateful.

Lost White Gold Ring w/ Peridot Setting Found in Wyandotte Michigan

From Quarrels to Smiles!

Got a call from Kiera. My first call as a Ringfinder. Not knowing what really happened I approached the assignment determined to do the best job I could. On site she said during a heated discussion her engagement ring flew out a window. She thought she heard the ring hitting the concrete and/or the metal fence along her driveway. She had rented a detector but didn’t find it. We searched her driveway area, and nothing came up. We decided to check further into the neighbor’s yard on the trajectory I thought it may have been on. Ring was found 40 feet from her window in the neighbor’s driveway. So, it did hit the concrete…..just in the neighbors yard behind the car in pic.

She was very happy and words can’t describe how much I enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, meeting new people and the feelings you get from the find and the owners excitement!

Blind Pass Beach Wedding Band Recovery

Andy and his wife and two children were down at Blind Pass Beach on Manasota key enjoying a Sunday on the gulf. Andy was snorkeling along the shore line looking for shells and sharks teeth. He noticed his ring on the hand he was digging through sand with and thought to himself “I should take that off before I lose it”. Then the thought promptly left his mind. A little later he was out of the water getting a drink from the cooler and noticed that his ring was gone. He and his wife looked everywhere and he even put his goggle’s back on and scoured the gulf floor where he had been. The ring was not to be found.

About a week later Andy was looking to rent a metal detector so he could try and find his ring. In the process he found SRARC on the Ring Finders site. He gave Mike Miller a call and explained what had happened. Mike setup a meet time for the next morning and put an email out to the team. Andy, Mike, Ed Osmar met at the site at 7:00 am. Andy gave us the particulars on where he thought he had lost the ring and we went to work. After about ½ an hour of focusing on the area that Andy thought he had lost it in, we started to spread out with Ed moving up onto the shore and Mike moving a little deeper. A little while later Bingo!!! Ed hit a target and it was the ring. When Ed showed Andy where he had found it Andy said it was right where the cooler had been sitting. It must have fallen off when he was getting a drink. Well it is all history now. Andy was overjoyed and he said his wife was going to very happy. Ed and I sent him away with a big smile on his face and I gave a big high five to Ed for a job well done.

Wedding ring recovered at Sunset beach, Treasure Island

Down in Florida from Illinois, Rachel and Leslie and the kids Tegan and Harley were on Sunset Beach for their wedding ceremony. Leslie had taken responsibility for three of the rings (hers, Tegan’s and Harley’s). Rachel had given her ring to one of the attendants to hold. They walked from the entry point to the Wedding arches placed on the beach. Just before stepping under the Wedding arch, Leslie handed off the bouquets to one of the attendants and the proceeded to the arch for the ceremony. When it came time for her ring presentation she discovered her ring was missing. The ceremony went on and the couple was married as planned, but the missing ring left an empty spot in the memories.

A few day’s later, Channel 10 news got wind of the event and started looking for a solution. They found SRARC on the Ring Finders site and contacted Mike Miller. On very short (1 hour) notice Mike put out a request for hunters and when he arrived at the site found Tom Jones and Chris Duerden ready to go. Jonathan Petramala from Channel 10 showed up a few minutes later and then the wedding coordinator Lisa with Tide The Knot Beach Weddings came to show us the general area where to look. We hunted hard for a couple hours with no luck but just as we were ready to give up Tom found the ring. Lisa called the couple and they came down from Clearwater to claim their ring. When they arrived there were so many smiles going around that beach it was just awesome!!!!!!!! We want to give our best wishes to the couple for a wonderful future together. We are happy we could be part of their memories.

Ring Lost in Surf … La Jolla Shores, CA. .. Found with Metal Detector

Ring Lost in Surf … La Jolla Shores, CA. … Found with Metal Detector

Today we have a nice low tide about 2pm. This is a good time to detect on the beach in the wet sand without bothering sunbathers on the dry sand. I arrived at La Jolla Shores beach about noon. After about a half hour messing around the fire pits a man walked up to me asking me if I could help him find his ring. I told him I was a member of TheRingFinders and gave him my card with our website information. His name was FX which is short for a longer name. He is visiting from Seattle, WA. Earlier in he morning at hi tide he had been surfing when his gold wedding ring of 15 years slipped of his finger. He felt it slip off when he was in about knee deep water but it disappeared right away. FX walked me over to the location which he had remembered was directly in front of the lifeguard tower.
I told him that I had to work the area slow and thorough as this is a game of inches. If I miss it by an inch, it could take hours to find it. He just stood by with his smart phone reading TheRingFinders website. I made a long pass to the waterline then returned toward the beach. Just before turning around for my third pass I heard a good tone that I knew was gold. There under 2 inches of wet sand was FX’s gold wedding band. Another good memory for a vacation holiday. Also a great smile for me to remember. After a many years of finding rings for people I go by beaches remembering the people and their rings that I have found and returned. Making good memories for everybody is part of what we do.
