Texas A&M class ring recovered, Arvada, Colorado

Paul was out playing disc golf when he lost his beloved Texas A&M class ring. He went to a near by store and rented a metal detector. He then spent an hour sear…ching the small island in a stream that he was on when he felt his ring slip from his finger with no luck. He then found my profile on The Ring Finders and sent me an email explaining his situation. I noticed his email the next morning and replied adding my phone number and asking him to call me. Soon my phone rang and we set up a time that morning, a Sunday morning, for me to meet him and do a search.
Paul met me and took me to the location, showed me how he threw his disc from that location. My review of his actions told me that the ring would be to his left either in the water or hidden in the tall grass on the island. After a couple minutes search I revived a great signal on my Teknetics Patriot. This signal was just at the waters edge amongst some longer aquadic vegetation. I used my pin pointer to narrow down the location of that signal. A few seconds of fishing around the muck and I felt Paul’s ring slide onto one of my fingers. Paul was quite happy to get his ring back.

Lost Iowa Hawkeye Lettermen Ring… Found Iowa City, Iowa

I received a call from Jim in early September about his lost Iowa Hawkeye Lettermen’s Ring. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1972 and lettered in track and had the ring to prove it until Sept. 2nd.

He and his family went to the Hawkeye football opener in Iowa City on Sept. 2nd. It was a hot sunny Iowa afternoon and Jim applied some sunscreen before the game and isn’t sure but later he thought he might have placed his ring on top of his car while applying the sunscreen and then forgot it.

He realized during the game that his ring was missing and of course they looked for it but couldn’t find it. On the way home his son was sitting in the backseat and heard something rattling around on top of the car. When he looked out the back window he thought he saw something gold hit the pavement and then go in the ditch. So he told Jim to stop he thought it was his ring that fell off the car.

They borrowed a metal detector and searched for 2 hours and didn’t find it. Later that week he found me online and contacted me and we met the next Sat. at the location. We had five of us searching with two metal detectors for over four hours and didn’t find it.

I went back on Sunday the next day for almost 3 hours and didn’t come up with it. For any of you who have attempted to search a road ditch you know how brutal it can be. There is always so much trash and the weeds are high, plus the traffic is distracting.

I had prior commitments and work for the next month of weekends but I finally made it back out there on Oct. 15th. I switched to my 6 inch coil to get through the weeds easier and separate through the trash. After an hour and a half I got a good signal next to a buried pop can and I found it!!

Tiffany Wedding Ring Set Lost in Sand .. Huntington Beach, CA. .. Found

Shona lost her Tiffany gold and diamond wedding ring set at Huntington Beach in the sand. She had taken them off, while applying sunscreen. She then put them in the cupholder of her beach chair. A few hours later after carrying her chair and other items to her car, she remembered the rings. The rings were not in the pocket of the beach chair.

Shona went back to the beach where a lifeguard told her to check the internet for TheRingFinders.com. She called me and I met her on the beach a short time after our phone conversation. That’s when I heard the whole story. It could possibly be a time consuming search, as the area she walked back to her car was almost a quarter mile. Now, she was having trouble finding exactly what trash can they sat near.

From experience I felt the rings most likely fell out when she first folded up the beach chair. Shona was going through he contents  the trash cans to identify things she had thrown in them. While waiting for her to give me the exact place she sat, I started a random search. Two 20 ft. passes in the general area, I got a simple signal and when I scooped it up, there were two Tifanny wedding rings in my sand scoop. They were definitely Shona’s rings. The lifeguard happened to be standing near me. I showed him and called Shona over to surprise her so the lifeguard could experience the joy of returning the wedding rings.

This is the second time recently that an impossible search turned out to be really easy. I know from experience these rings would have not have been here the next day. The dry sand next to the Huntington Beach pier gets detected everyday and every morning the dreaded Beach King beach cleaning machines invade the beach, claiming items as small as dimes.

It was a great day, also a pleasure to meet Shona and help find her rings.

Lost White Tungsten Carbide Brushed Ring Found In Detroit Michigan

Rapunzel Throw Down Your……… Ring?

What?? That’s not how that fairy tale goes, and this story was no fairy tale for this nice young wife who wasn’t trapped in a tower but rather found herself high above in their castle’s balcony playing catch with their son on the ground. She decided to wear hubby’s ring while he was raking leaves and playing with the dogs thinking it would not fall off into the colorful foliage. As the youngster got further from the balcony the tossing of the ball back and forth needed more thrust to reach him as he zig-zagged around the yard. Suddenly she noticed the ring was gone and quite a few minutes had passed so she wasn’t sure where it may have gone. I answered her request to come by and find it. When I got on site I followed the trajectory based on where she was throwing the ball from the balcony with my MXT and lots of junk targets came up just below the grass. Finally about 30 feet from the balcony I got a nice clear signal +52 and brushing the leaves around with the pinpointer revealed this beautiful white tungsten carbide brushed ring! As you can see the king, queen and prince of the castle were elated with the recovery, the youngster loved using the detector and everyone lived happily ever after!

Van Key Lost in Palos Verdes Estates, CA…Found and Returned.

I received a call from Paul last week regarding a key to his van he had lost 4 days prior. Paul has a dog walking business, and has a trail he likes to take the dogs on. When he arrives a the location, the dogs, after having been in the van for a while need to do their business. He carries a pocket full of plastic bags in order to clean up after them, and pulls one out whenever needed. The area right at curb side where he goes is about a half acre covered in a thick mulch, and when he has to pickup after one of the dogs, he has all the others pulling on him to go on their walk, this can make for a bit of canine anarchy. When cleaning up after one of the dogs, Paul pulled out a plastic bag, while being pulled by all of the other dogs, not realizing that his key had been pulled out with the bag, and lost in the mulch. He had gone back each day for 4 days looking for and not being able to find the key. We agreed to meet at the spot while he was walking his dogs, so I could get an understanding what actually happened.

When I got to the location, I sent Paul a text to let him know I was there. He sent one back to let me know he was there as well, and would meet me soon. I began to get my equipment ready when I turned around to see a gentleman coming down the trail surrounded by at least 15 dogs; what a sight, it looked surreal. All of the dogs were working as one unit with Paul at command. I would not have expected the dogs to have behaved so well with most all of them coming from different homes. Paul showed me what had happened to cause the loss, and then had to leave so he could take the dogs to their homes. I began my search in the mulch, and covered the area, with no key. I then went back to the start point, and began a cross grid, and after a few passes, got a good signal. I looked down, and there was the key, looking back at me from the mulch. I sent a text to Paul , and we arranged to meet this week to get the key back. I was glad to get a picture that shows this man with his happy dogs, and his smile with his found key. A lot of fun!

The Ring Finders – Vermont – Client Gave Huge Donation To Local Charity

I got a call from our local humane society, Central Vermont Humane Society, they said they just received a huge donation from one of the people that I had helped find a ring for. This is the charity that I give to from any rewards I get. The people I have met on these searches have been such good people and most are pet lovers! Lost Platinum Wedding Ring Found – Elkhart Lake, WI

Nick Mitrani was visiting in Wisconsin from Long Island, New York, when his platinum wedding ring went missing. It happened while doing some geocaching around Road America, an internationally acclaimed motorsports complex and one of America’s longest road racing circuits. Located in the picturesque rolling, wooded hills of Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine district, Road America is also home to geocaching adventures, a technology-driven scavenger hunt of sorts using a GPS (Global Positioning System).

Nick had stopped at several historical roadside markers when he realized the ring was no longer on his hand. Despite renting a metal detector and returning to the locations where he had stopped, the ring eluded his best search efforts. It was nowhere to be found.

I received a text message from Nick the next day asking if I might help. We arranged to meet early the next morning. After an hour and half drive I arrived at the prearranged location just as the sun was making it’s appearance in a clear sky over Lake Michigan. A heavy frost nipped at our bare fingers and weighed down the fallen leaves and bent the tall grass.

After checking two of the geocaching locations, we were well into searching the third when a promising signal in the thick, ice-laden grass invited further investigation. It was Nick’s ring!

It takes a GPS in the hands of a skilled user to search for and locate caches. But it takes a metal detector in the hands of an experienced user to search for and locate missing rings. Long Lost Husband’s Wedding Band Found and Returned to Widow

I had a great day yesterday and I know a lady who’s as happy as can be!

I got a phone call a few weeks ago from the sweetest sounding lady who was broken hearted by losing her husband about 5 years ago and then losing his wedding band about a year later. She was wearing it on a chain around her neck and had switched to wearing it on her thumb. They had a fantastic marriage for over 50 years and seeing the ring on her thumb every day was comforting for her.

She was embarrassed to tell me that she was quite certain that she had accidentally lost it down the toilet. About 3 or 4 years ago her daughter and son decided to give her a Mother’s Day gift by pumping out the septic tank and searching for the ring. They picked a distant corner of her land and pumped it out there on the field. They searched through the sewage with a metal detector. After having no luck searching there, her daughter, being incredibly brave and giving, climbed down into the septic tank and cleaned it completely out while looking for the ring. It wasn’t there. I was so impressed to hear that and really understood how much that ring meant to her mother. They were all very sad and the mother figured she’d never see it again.

A few years after that, her son saw my ad on Craigslist for The Ring Finders service and suggested she give me a try. I went right down the following weekend and comforted her that we would find it. I searched for many hours that day and didn’t find it. I wondered if there was a sewer trap beneath the concrete basement floor where it could be hiding. Her son didn’t think so. I told her I would come back and try searching all her lawns just in case it could be outside somewhere.
So, yesterday I went back again. It was a beautiful day and her home being so far away in the mountains, was just a great place to visit. She has a very close family and some good friends, including a lifelong pen pal who was visiting all the way from Texas. All made it a very fun and relaxing place to do a ring search.

After a couple hours of searching near her driveway, walkways and lawn, I looked up and saw her clothesline in the distance. I searched the ground where she would’ve walked to it, and then under it. Just then her son returned from a doctors appointment and came walking over to watch and visit. He hadn’t stood there for more than a minute when I got a nice tone on the detector. About an inch down in the dirt under the grass I found a paper thin gold colored ring. I held it up saying « is this it? it’s so thin, but it IS gold! ». Her son took it and said « it’s his ring, you found it! ». I got the rush of good feelings as we headed inside to show it to her. She looked at it with disbelief, very stunned, and then the emotions took over. She nearly fainted, then broke down in tears and gave her son and me some great hugs.

When they got married they had given each other matching wedding bands. He wore his every day for 50 years, while logging, woodworking and restoring old houses and antiques. It was worn so thin it was at the point of breaking any minute. When she put the 2 rings together it was quite a sight. I suggested that a jeweler could put them together and mount them to a nice pendant she could wear on her neck. They’re going to look into that.

After that, her son and I went metal detecting at several old sibling’s cellar holes up on the mountain. We also searched the foundation of an old one room schoolhouse on her land. We found where the teacher had « parked » her horse, there were 3 horseshoes there. I also found a partial antique ring at her great great grandparent’s cellar hole. It was in rough shape, missing the stone, but very ornate and she was glad to get that, too.

Saturday I received a call from Christina about her friend who had just lost his wedding ring at the beach. They were searching in the sand and knew the exact area it fell into so I left my house immediately to help them.
When I arrived they had surfboards surrounding the 8’x8′ area where it was lost.I began Detecting the small area but didn’t get any signals.I said,Well it’s not here and we’ll need to expand this search area a little more. They were almost certain it was lost in that area,I could sense a little doubt of hope while they moved the Surfboards so I swung my Coil over a few feet outside of the box then got a strong signal that sounded like a Ring of (Precious Metals) BOOM..There was Dustin’s Platinum band! The smiles lit up with positive energy that circulated the beach.

Surfer Loses Wedding Ring in Sand .. 1000 Steps Beach, South Laguna Beach, CA. .. Found and Returned

While searching for a wedding rings lost at Salt Creek Beach I received a call from Keoni. He was located at 1000 Steps Beach and had just discovered that his tungsten wedding ring had fallen out of his backpack. It had to be one of two places, as he had to move his belongings when the high surf came up on to the dry sand.

Keoni was late for an appointment and had to leave the beach. I told him that I knew the beach well and assured him I could get to the area of the loss with the directions he had given me. It was less than a mile from where I was when he called.

After a finding the first set of rings sooner than I thought, Drove to 1000 Steps Beach. It is only a couple hundred steps to the beach and going down is easy. Then I walked over to the location near the volleyball court where I used the photos that Keoni had texted me to start my grid. Picking a spot to start my grid, it took about 45 minutes to find Keoni’s ring.
The ring was found within two feet of where I started the grid search. It would have been just a few minutes if I had gone north instead of south.

I contacted Keoni and arranged to drop off his ring at his house as it was on my way home. He was very grateful for having his wedding ring returned. I think you can see by the smile in his photo.
