Anna Maria Island Brand New Wedding Ring Recovered

Josh and his wife Chelsea traveled to Anna Maria Island to be married on 2/19/2015. Two days after the wedding they and a few of the wedding party decided to kick back a little and spend some time at the beach. They were all having a great time laying in the sun and playing on the beach. Josh decided to go into the water and was out just deep enough to keep his head above water while doing a crab walk. He pushed his hands into the sand and as he moved forward and pulled his hands from the sand he felt his brand new wedding ring slip off. He called the group for help and they all looked and looked with no luck. Josh borrowed a rake and tried to see if he could dig it up. Still no luck. The next day he rented a metal detector and tried to find it but still had no luck. A young man noticed what Josh was doing and asked what the problem was. Josh explained what had happened and the young man replied that he could get someone to help with the recovery. He contacted Stan Flack who contacted Mike Miller. Mike was already headed toward Anna Maria Island and agreed to attempt a recovery. Mike and his son Jeffery meet Josh at the location and quickly went to work. After about half an hour Mike found the ring and returned it to an overjoyed Josh. As we walked out of the water with the ring held high the entire crowd on the beach burst into cheers and applause.

Josh of course was smiling ear to ear. We wish the best to both Josh and his bride. We hope they have a lifetime of happiness together.

Engagement ring found buried in the sand by two professional Ringfinders.

Encinitas ca, Monday 5/16/15  I received a  text From John Hughes  My Good friend from TheRingfinders and said he needed help on a search and the large diamond ring had a very small and thin platinum band with very little metal also the couple rented metal detector two days ago when the wind blew there seat and umbrella fell many feet over with the Ring in the cup holder.

I’m thinking to myself.. (Wow)..I just helped and returned with John Hughes a Diamond ring this morning  to a happy couple and Sentimental story to tell that day..Then I texted John (on my way 15 min E.T.A) see you there. When I arrived I had noticed the husband with a rented metal detector Griding and swinging like a pro.However 3 different  detector machines had scanned the small beach and short area where it was lost so walking down the long steep trail path I was observing and losing a little hope but Knew I had My Garrett infinium L.S. Pulse induction machine wich is very sensitive to deep and small gold in the most roughest & mineralized conditions.

 

I began cross griding a 30’x30′ area for 15 minutes when John turns his machine off said keep going that away and he walked over to Scott With his soon to be Wife Mrs. Ozuna.

15 seconds later I get a faint high/low  ring sound in the gold range,scooped..and OMG no way! I instantly was laughing in Joy Looking at the 3 of them hysterically like I won the lottery and Made a miracle actually happen.They ran over and after hugs,Tears and relief we could all hear the local and friendly crowd above beacons beach cheering as the sun was setting.The Most amazing day for us ALL.Thank you You all out there Who got to share this wonderful Moment on the news channel.

11:30p.m A lost diamond ring was posted on Craigslist by a women who lost it earlier the same day.I emailed her right away and directed her to visit TheRingFinders web page ASAP

First thing in the morning she called to meet her there.

When I pulled into the parking lot I saw 2 people with metal detectors searching the area she posted online.I could also tell they had very little to No experience by there machines and there swing.So I politely asked if they had found a ring?

They said No and one of there buddies was there at midnight searching…Keep in mind they never actually contacted the person who lost the ring.So the newbies continued searching when Robin the owner walked up and we talked for a few minutes to narrow the search down to exactly where she lost it. That’s when John Hughes my Ringfinder team mate arrived just in time.Meanwhile..The other detectorist were tired,unsuccessful and on there way leaving.The owner had shown me a picture she took when she lost it with houses in the background and I asked her, show it to john..John Yells..we are 100ft off..Curtis go grid over there!! 5 min later I get a ring sound on my PI machine,kick the sand,And looked at robin with the biggest smile,dropped my metal detector laughing:) she said Oh my God picked up her ring and gave me a hug.We were both Excited and in relief I had found it!

Indian Rocks Beach Wedding Band Recovery

Pete and his family came across state for a spring break vacation. On Thursday morning the whole family gathered on the house patio and Pete helped everyone get well covered in suntan lotion. The whole family walked the sandy path through the sand dunes and spread out on the beach. After spending the whole day frolicking in the sand and water they picked things up an headed back up the path to the house. When Pete set things down on the patio he noticed he no longer had a wedding ring. They tried to look for it but where to look, they had been everywhere on the sand and in the water.

That evening Pete started looking for help and found SRARC on The Ring Finders right away. He gave Mike Miller a call and Mike set up a hunt for Friday morning at 7:00 am. Luckily a large group of hunters was available. Jim and Gerri Adams, Stan Flack, Ed Osmar, Rick Magyar, Tom Jones, and Mike headed for the beach with Pete at 7:00 am. The group spread out wit two in the dry sand and 6 in the wet sand to start. After covering the total wet sand area 5 moved into the water and 3 continued in the dry sand. After about 15 minutes in the water, Rick gave the « I got it » thumbs up sign. We all headed toward the path back to the house and Pete figured something was up and came out to meet us. When Rick handed him the ring he was a happy man. He muttered something like  » You guy’s saved my life ». I’m thinking his wife was not to happy with him losing the ring. Well there are lots of smiles now. Great Job Team!!!!

Lost Dog Collar in Laural Canyon Dog Park, Los Angeles, CA…Found

I received a call from Audrey about a lost dog collar, lost at a dog park. The collar was from her friend Sandra’s former dog who had been her close companion for many years, but had passed away. She now had a beautiful German Shepherd pup that the collar went on when Audrey took him and her own dog to the dog park. Pups being what they are were playing and exploring when as Audrey explained it to me « The pup went into the weeds and trees with his clothes on, and came out naked » (the collar was missing).

We agreed to meet on Wednesday morning to conduct a thorough search of the area. I looked at the hillside, and it full of tall weeds and a lot of dead tree snags; a perfect place for the collar to be lost. Audrey told me that there was a tag with a Swiss cross and the dog’s name, that was attached to the collar which was very important as well. I put on a 6 inch coil in order to get into all of the small spaces between weeds and snags. I searched for about two hours until I finally found the collar, but the tag was not with it. I searched around the area for the tag hoping it fell off in the same area, but was unable to come up with it. The park is very large, and Audrey thought there might have been another spot where the tag might have come off, so I searched that area as well, but was unable to find the tag. Fortunately I was able to find the collar. I was able to provide some closure to the loss with the collar find.

Update 4-4-15:

Sandra found the missing dog tag close to home, so she has been reunited with both the tag and the collar.

Lost Engagement Ring, Beacons Beach, Ca.

Monday morning get a frantic phone call, I am at Becons beach and my girlfriend dropped her ring. I am only five min away so I’ll be right over.

When I get there I see a guy walking back and forth at the bottom of the cliff. Grab the detector and head down. I meet Scott and he tells me he’s been looking for two days with a rented detector.

It’s late morning and the beach is gettin more and more people coming down. I grid 100′ X 50′ for a couple hours but no ring, few coins and hand full of trash. I tell him I will come back at sunset and bring my partner Curtis Cox.

5:00 pm I go down onto the beach to meet up with Scott again, I tell him Curtis is on his way and I start on my grid again. I cover the whole area again but slower, Curtis shows up and starts working the area we believe it to be in.

After he works over close to me, I stop to tell Scott I need to shut down and let Curtis work over this area, cause he’ll find it. 15 seconds later Curtis breaks out laughing, shakeing his scoop with a ting ting ting. He couldn’t even speak. Two days of heart break is washed away with cheers from all the people on the cliff watching the sunset and us…

Beer Can Island, Tampa Bay Recovery

Alex, his wife Lindsay and their daughter Charlie were spending the day relaxing in their boat at Beer Can Island in Tampa Bay. Lindsay was catching some sunshine up on the sand and Alex and Charlie were standing knee deep in the water next to the boat. Alex decided to move his wedding ring from one finger to the next and to do it had smeared suntan lotion all over his knuckle. As he pressed against the ring it slipped up over the knuckle and flew off into the water.

He immediately called out for the sand sifter that Charlie had been using up on the beach. They dug and dug trying to find the ring but could not find it. After a while they decided that it was just gone. They jumped into the boat and headed across the bay toward home. On the way, Charlie (5 years old) was setting between her Mom and Dad. She looked up into her Dad’s eyes and sweetly said “Don’t worry Daddy, Mom and I well go to the jewelry store and get you a new one.” That just melted Daddy’s heart. When they got home Alex went about cleaning the boat and Lindsay and Charlie went into the house. Out of desperation Lindsay posted what had happened on the Beer Can Island Facebook support site. Soon she got a reply from someone we had recovered a ring for last winter. She told Lindsay to contact “these guys, they are great.”  Lindsay contacted us on our Facebook page and soon we were scheduled for a hunt.

Alex met Rick Magyar, Rick’s wife Judy, and Mike Miller at the boat ramp along with two of his Fireman co-workers. What a bunch of great guy’s. They ferried us out to the island, showed us where they thought the ring had dropped and we went to work. After about an hour, Mike found the ring. He turned around and gave Rick the “thumbs up” signal. Alex was right next to Rick and Rick decided to mess with him a little bit. Rick said loudly that he was giving up and that we would not be able to find the ring. Alex bought it hook, line, and sinker and his head dropped in disappointment. When he looked up he saw Mike doing a jig down the beach and instantly realized what was up. We all got a great laugh out of game and then I dropped the ring into his hand. The laughter turned into handshakes, hugs, and great big SMILES.

Confirmation Medallion Lost at Torrance Beach, CA…Found.

On my way out to a ring search in Newport Beach last Sunday night, I received a call from Maya who told me about a St. Michael medallion she lost at the beach, and asked if I would try to find it for her. I let her know that I was on my way to help someone else at the time, but told her that after I was finished, I would go to the beach she lost the medallion at, and do a search. She did give me very specific directions, and I felt comfortable going because I know the area well. There was a sense of desperation in her voice, so I knew it was important to her that this item be found. I also knew that this beach is cleaned very well on a daily basis by the county, so there was no time like the present to do the search.

I successfully finished the search for the ring and headed to the other beach in Torrance which was about 30 miles away. When I got there it was about 11:30 PM, and I got my gear and began my search. I searched for about half an hour, searching out the box she had laid out for me over the phone, and found the medallion. I sent her a text immediately giving her the good news, and received one back about 4:30 AM from a very thankful young lady. We arranged to meet at the location of the loss today, and her father came along as well. I was glad he did when I asked about the significance of the medallion. He explained that this medallion was given to him when he was 12 years old at his Confirmation, and he had kept it since then. This piece of jewelry is over 40 years in the family. He then gave it to his daughter at her Confirmation. It was at this point that I realized the huge importance of returning this to the family. The story of this St. Michael medallion needed to continue, and it has; I am so happy to be part in it. Great smiles on father and daughter.

Lost Gold Ring in Long Beach, CA Park…Found.

We were out visiting my brother-in-law in Thousand Oaks last night, and were finishing up a dinner at a local restaurant when I received a call from Brain about 8:30 PM about the loss of his wife’s ring. It was lost in a park, and he wondered if I would be willing to come and find it for them. I told him I would, but explained that I was about 70 miles out from Long Beach, and it would take a while for me to get home, gather my equipment, and get to his location. I told him if he would be willing to meet me there, I would come. Fortunately they lived close to the park so he agreed to meet me when I arrived.

I finally arrived at the location at about 11:00 PM, and Brian was there to guide me in, and help me get parking, which was scarce. The park was small, so for them to narrow down the scope of the search was relatively simple. Brian showed me the area, and explained how his wife had thrown something for their dog to retrieve, when her ring flew off of her finger. The problem was that it was getting dark at that time, and the grass was browned, so with the lighting conditions, and the ring being a similar color as the grass made it almost impossible to see. I began my grid, and made two passes encountering a lot of trash metal and some coins, which I did not dig because I knew I was looking for a surface loss. When I made my turn for the third pass I heard a good sound that was showing shallow, so I got the pin pointer, and fine tuned my search. In the light of the pin pointer I saw the ring we were hoping to find. All this time Brian continued his relentless search for his wife’s ring. When I had the ring in my hand I looked up to see Brian bent over with his flashlight in one hand, searching through the grass with his other hand, and I asked him if we hadn’t been searching at least 15 minutes, to which he agreed. I then said that he might want to come over and see what I had found, to which an expression of disbelief came over his face, when I held out the ring.

Brian explained that his wife was given a ring by her late grandfather, which she used to make a replica (this lost ring) that would fit her finger so she could wear it in remembrance of him. So to lose this ring was to lose something very precious in memory. I am so glad to have been able to restore joy in this family, see Brian’s smile, and know his wife was smiling too.
