Lost engagement ring, Daytona Beach, Florida….Found and Returned!

I received a frantic call from a dear young lady named Ellie and by the tone and stress in her voice it was apparent she was upset and flustered. For the life of me I could not understand what she was saying and she soon hung up. One minute later, Will called me and explained the situation. Will’s girlfriend’s sister, Kelly had lost her engagement ring in the sand at Daytona Beach and they had spent allot of time searching for the ring with no success. So I dropped what I was doing and told Will I would be there within the hour.
When I arrived at the beach I was greeted by four young adults with anxious looks on their faces. They showed me where Kelly had walked from the beach heading towards an aluminum stairway and apparently while she was approaching the stairway she was brushing the sand from her hands and from around her diamond engagement ring. When all of a sudden her ring slipped off her finger and dropped into the soft sand at the base of the stairway. They also explained that they had asked an elderly gentleman who was metal detecting on the beach, if he could please help them locate the lost ring, but he was unable to find it. So my first thought was to start by the aluminum stairway and work my way out onto the sand. My first pass along the stairway I got a « 99 » reading at three spots where the stair beams went down into the sand and just inches away I got a solid « 44 » reading on my Garrett AT Max metal detector. The first signal, the first scoop and there was Kelly’s lost diamond engagement ring! They had given up all hope and now they could hardly believe their eyes! I thanked God for another very happy search ending and for allowing Kelly’s ring story to continue!

Sentimental Ring Recovered Huntington Beach , CA

I was metal detecting with my brand new detector for the very first time, looking for some treasure. I found a 1958 Wheat Penny and soon after I was approached by Karen who asked if I could help find her lost ring. I explained to her that I belong to The Ring Finders and would be glad to help her. She told me she was visiting from Mexico and her Mother had given her the Ring. We walked to the area where the Ring went missing and I began my search. My confidence was high even though I was using a new detector because she seemed very sure where she had lost it. I found her Ring in about 10 minutes, Karen was very happy to have the Ring her Mother gave her back in her possession.

Lost Wedding Ring Thrown into Rose Garden .. Aliso Viejo, CA.. Found

Laura had called me with a request to help her find her mother in-law’s diamond ring. She believed that her 7 year old son had removed it from a counter in the house. When she confronted her son, he admitted taking it and throwing it off the second floor balcony into a rose garden. No one in the house saw him with the ring. He was terrified that he had done something wrong and kept insisting that the ring was in the rose garden, 30 ft. away.

Laura was desperate for my help to search for the ring as this had created a family crisis. I met her that same morning, where she showed me a large rose garden that had maybe 50 roses in full bloom. After about an hour and a half of searching with a small coil on my detector that could get into tight areas around the base of the plants, I could not locate the ring. I expanded the search to the lawn and other landscape shrubbery.

There was a possibility that the ring could have hung up into rose plants. I threw a test ring several times into the plants and it fell through each time. Walking through the plants more than three times during the search could have dislodged a ring hanging in the bush? We also took time to probe each plant with a hand held pinpointer to no avail.

As I was getting ready to tell Laura that I had run out of places to search. I showed her how the only possibility ( if the ring was really thrown), would be that the ring hand been stuck in one of the plants. I tossed my test ring into a nearby plant to show her how it falls through the plant each time. This time it didn’t seem to pass through the plant. I couldn’t get a signal at the base of the plant, so I probed into the plant several times. After that I got a strong signal on the ground at the base of the plant. Laura was close so I asked her to retrieve the test ring.

She reached under the rose plant grabbed the ring and handed to me. Guess What? It was not my test ring, it was her mother in-law, Lucy’s  very sentimental wedding ring , which she had worn for 28 years. It had been hung up in the bush and I knocked it free with an aggressive probing with the detector coil. The test ring had passed through the bush and was about 18” away on the ground.

Lucy was in the house when Laura walked in to hand her the ring that had seemed to be lost forever. When Lucy came out to thank me, she still had tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. It was awesome to help them find the ring but I know it was a miracle that I didn’t walk away. You can’t tell how these small end up. There’s so many places a ring can hide. Finding rings takes a some skill and a lot of luck.

Ring Lost for 1.5 Years – FOUND!!!

“It’s a pretty big honor to have the opportunity to tell this story and share the name of the guy who is the reason this story has a happy ending after all. Over a year and a half ago, in October of 2016, my oldest daughter « borrowed » my engagement ring and wedding band which I had taken off while preparing food for a father/son campout birthday party we were hosting for her two brothers later that evening. Without my knowledge, she wore them into the yard not realizing that because they were loose they would fall right off of her hand into the grass. We discovered that both were missing mere moments before my husband came home from work and guests started arriving. The remaining daylight hours of the party turned into a father/son treasure hunt, and while my engagement ring turned up almost immediately, the wedding band was nowhere to be found. One of the guests had a metal detector at his own home less than a half mile away so he allowed us to use it as we continued to look for two more days. My husband even created a crime scene style search grid, but still we found nothing. Fast forward to May 6, 2018. My precious neighbor messaged to ask if we happened to have a metal detector we might be able to loan them. By the time I wrote back and told her we had actually had to borrow one ourselves a while ago, she already had a different solution to her own situation in the works. And since I shared the story of my lost wedding band with her she was quick to let me know what that solution was–a gentleman by the name of Dave Cartee who had come to the rescue when her son’s girlfriend’s promise ring had been lost in the sand at the beach. While I had doubts finding it was even possible because so much time had passed and it might not even be there anymore because it could have been moved great distances by our lawn mower or buried in the mud by flooding during heavy rains, I couldn’t help but call Dave to inquire if I should hold out any hope at all. Jordan had bought me a replacement wedding band last summer, but there was still something so sentimentally special about the original that if it could be found I would not want to pass up the opportunity, even if it meant paying someone with expertise and good equipment to find it. A few minutes after calling Dave, he and his wife showed up. He searched with the beach equipment he already had on him for a while and when the search didn’t turn up anything right away he asked for permission to return with his land equipment on another day. This evening he showed up and after an hour I came out to check on him. It was evident he was calling it a day. I figured maybe he thought it had just been too long since it was lost or it was too hot to work for too long. « Nothing? » I asked. « No, I found a few things. A foil wrapper, a bullet, a penny. And one more thing » he said while digging in a pouch tied to his waist. « Do you recognize this? It was about 3 or 4 inches down buried in the dirt. » At first I really didn’t. It was so encrusted with dirt that I thought it was some old building material that had been dumped in the yard, but the closer I looked I could see the tiny little diamonds and milgrain. I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t. The best thing about the whole experience: I could tell that my joy over the returned ring brought Dave equally great joy if that’s even possible. It once was lost but now is found. Dave Cartee, you recovered something irreplaceable. We will never forget your kindness or your commitment to seek and save that which was lost. Thank you!”

LOST DIAMOND RING FOUND WAIKIKI

On 5/7/18 I was out on the North Shore at 5:00 AM preparing to look for a lost men’s wedding ring and it was still dark. As I’m getting ready I look online and saw a lost wedding ring posted on Craigslist on the opposite side of the island and decide to respond to the ad to offer my help. As the sun started to rise while I was on the North Shore I notice that the waves coming up and looked too risky to put my metal detector in the water next to all the reef and to look for the ring in the high surf conditions. I decide to text Faith and see if we would be able to meet up to search for the ring she posted about on Craigslist. She and I decided to meet at the beach.  She told me that she had someone come out and look for it thoroughly for an hour and a half the day prior so if I was willing she would appreciate it. I decide to go over the searched area even though it was search previously  as « It’s always good to search for yourselves »  and sure enough after a few TRASHY items I noticed on my CTX3030 a solid reading of gold/Platinum! As I look in my scoop there it is and I think to myself thats a beauty. What do I tell Faith? How do I tell her as she is simmering around the beach and telling Uncle China (Known Surfer) about her lost ring. I shout to Faith  » Do you wanna SMILE NOW or LATER? » Faith responds, « huh? »  I say it again, « Do you wanna SMILE NOW or LATER? » Faith stops in her tracks and shouts « NO WAY KAI » with tears running down her face I hold up her beautiful ring. The onlookers and the guys that were with Uncle China gave a loud shout and exciting praise!!!  The ring which is so precious was back in the rightful hands and now able to pass down to the next generation. Precious items should be kept safe and I know this family heirloom will be kept safe and passed down for more years to come. Thank you and always have FAITH!

Lost earring at Coronado Found

Nellie called for help on a lost earring that her husband had given her for Mother’s Day. She had been busy all day and wasn’t sure exactly when and where it was lost, but, the beach seemed to be the most likely. My wife and I finished our dinner and headed over to Coronado to meet Nellie and conduct a search in the dry sand. When we arrived, it was after sunset, but, enough light to find ground zero on the beach. Nellie had the other earring with her, so, it was helpful in seeing what it would read on my new Equinox 800. A solid 8 signal….great. I started a spiral search from the supposed middle of the search area. After making a circle over 50 feet in diameter with still no earring (or much of any signals for that matter), I started a straight line grid over to the stairs and back thinking she might have lost it on her trip to her car. It was getting a bit chilly, so, I sent my wife back to the truck to get my windbreaker, and Nellie headed up the stairs to visually check there and the parking lot. I continued another pass, and got that sweet « 8 » sound in my headphones. Ran my pin pointer over the sand and pulled out what we were searching for, even though it was a bit out of the perceived search area. I walked back toward the parking lot where my wife and Nellie were talking. My wife had my windbreaker under her arm and while I was putting it on, I asked Nellie if this earring looked familiar? Hugs all around and a happy Nellie. The sodium lights didn’t help the photo of the earrings, but, they are beautiful! Thank you for the reward Nellie.

Stan is the man who can find the needle in the haystack!  Absolutely an answer to my prayers.

My wife and I were taking an overnight vacation before picking up our daughter from college at the end of her spring semester. We love the Newport Beach area and after a walk on the beach I had decided to take a quick swim in the surf not far off of the beach. It was a wonderful day with our daughter and her boyfriend until until at dinner time my wife noticed that my wedding ring was missing from my hand. After getting back to the hotel room and doing a thorough and a bit frantic search through the room and even our car I was unable to locate the ring. I was upset and felt foolish for not taking it off prior to my swim as I had other co-workers who had lost their wedding rings the same way.  We assumed that it was a lost cause to find my wedding ring of 26 years of marriage. 

I woke early the next morning still thinking about my ring and praying that there had to be a way to find it. I decided to do a Google search for “lost ring sand Newport Beach”.  The website for Ring Finders came up on the top of the list. After looking through local people I found Stan’s blog and noticed that the vast majority of his finds were in the Newport Beach area with a significant number of great testimonials to his acumen and skill. I contacted him at 5:30 in the morning not sure if he would even answer his phone due to the time of day. However, to my great surprise he did!  After explaining to him where I was swimming due to the location of our hotel, he was fairly confident that given the low morning tides for the day he would be able to find my ring.  By 6:30am he texted me that he was starting his search at the beach in the area I had indicated.  I met him at the beach just before 7 a.m. and his gracious and focused demeanor along with knowledge of the area gave me confidence and hope that my ring could be found..

After about 30 minutes after I got there, he found my ring!  I was so excited and so ecstatic to once again have my unique wedding ring of 26 years of marriage. A hand crafted gold band not of much value but of huge sentimental value. Thank you so much Stan – you made our day!  We now have a story with you in our family history. To all others, I highly recommend Stan and his skills should you have a need.

Lost Diamond Ring in Bed of Nails at Aliso Beach .. Recovered with Metal Detector

Sunday, Don and his wife Karina had been at Aliso Beach near Laguna Beach, CA. Karina had put her white gold diamond ring in the pocket of her shorts. When they returned home she went to retrieve her ring and it was not in the pocket. It must be at the beach?

Don took the next day off work, rented a metal detector and spent three hours finding several hand fulls of metal trash, mostly nails. A passerby suggested that he contact TheRingFinders website. It was 4:30pm when I talked to Don. He wanted to know if I was available today or tomorrow? Knowing the beach, I told him tomorrow may be too late. 

I met Don at the location, he was standing next to his rental metal detector with a pile of nails, stacked on top of the trash can. He was totally frustrated and at his wits end. This was an area that had been a fire pit. People burn wood pallets that are loaded with nails. In one way I was glad that the possible loss of the ring was in a trashy area, because other detectorist avoid searching these type areas. Another possible problem was Don had pushed a lot of the dry surface sand down a slight embankment which could have buried the ring out of detection depth.

I have practiced many hours with my detectors for this type search. It was a small area but it took a lot of concentration to listen for the right tone. My alternate plan would be to return the next day with my sifting equipment. After about an hour I got a mixed signal which turned out to be Karina’s beautiful white gold diamond ring in my scoop with two nails.

Don told me he had all but given up as he saw me nearing the end of the area. He had walked away to put things in his car. When he walked up to me he was expecting me to tell him that I couldn’t find it. Nevertheless he was surprised to see me hold up the very special ring. Another happy day for him and his wife Karina.

Lost Ring Ocean House, Watch Hill, RI… Found!

A beachgoer lost his heirloom wedding band in front of Ocean House, Watch Hill, RI early May 2018. By the time he realized his ring was forgotten on his beach towel, it was already too late. Digging in the sand with your hands to retrieve a ring is a near-impossible task. However, when your deeply value possession disappears, you have to try something! After a good hand digging effort he thought his lost ring was gone forever…

The gentleman reached out to local lifeguards and other resources, eventually, he came across a referral of my services from a 2016 ring find at Westerly Town Beach. After quickly discussing the details surrounding the lost ring, my wife Allie and I rushed down to the Watch Hill Beach in front of Ocean House to see if we could find it. The gentleman brought us to the location where he remembered placing his towel the previous morning. Allie and I began to search with high hopes. Lost Ring Gulf Shores – FOUND!!!

What a great find today!  Tanner called me and told me that he had messed up and lost his girlfriend’s ring that he bought for her.  He was at a volleyball tournament she was playing in and was wearing it on his pinky for safe keeping.  Unfortunately, when he was playing a bit of volleyball himself, the ring flew off his finger.  Luckily he called me and I immediately headed that way.  It was a NCAA tournament so there were people everywhere.  We made plans to meet at the giant volleyball 🏐 and they showed me where they thought it might be.  I think they were shocked when I found it in about 2 minutes.  I love to see the smiles when I find it!  Tanner’s Mom was there and said that they had been looking for hours and she was amazed.  I’m so glad I could help!
