Lost Tiffany Diamond Ear Ring in Canton, Tx

We got call from Faith, she said she was Skydiving for the first time.  Once she landed in the field she was taking off her Goggles and felt her brand NEW (only had them 24 hours/10yr anniversary gift) Gold & Diamond Ear Ring flew off.  She immediately dropped to her knees with her parachute still attached and started looking for her ear ring.   Her partner and all of the staff at the Sky Diving Club searched and searched but with no luck.  They bought a metal detector NO Luck, the had someone come out with a better Metal Dectector- NO Luck.  Someone suggested she better hire a Pro, so she called « The Dallas Ringfinders ».

We got the call 1 week after the loss, we scheduled to come out after church on Sunday and met the couple and all 7 of the staff of the Sky Diving Club, everyone there had been searching for the Ear Ring.  Great thing was the staff had put out a orange cone at the landing location where Faith had landed.  Ellen & I got our Garrett AT Pro Metal Detectors and  our Garrett Water Proof Pinpointers and began our search… it only took a minute.  I got a solid 45 gold signal at less than 2 inches deep.  I checked the site with my Pinpointer but go No signal, I then cleared the dried grass with my foot and scanned again,  still getting the 45 Gold signal indicator.  I then bent down and slowly and carefully scanned the area with my pinpointer and got a hit on the edge of the thick grass I had cleared.. still seeing nothing I use my hand to slowly clear the grass and then I saw the « Glint ».  What fun to return a beautiful ear ring..

I received a call today from a couple who stated she lost her diamond wedding ring last week on her lawn in the rain. They told me they have been searching the lawn for a week and even used a metal detector, still unable to find it. Their friend told the tp look me up on TheRingFinders website. A VERY happy ending to one of the longest weeks ever, for me and my husband when I dropped my wedding band running in the rain from the car to the house. The Queen of the Castle’s Courtyard…..

…What started as a whole castle and carriage search for Jen’s missing ring ended up searching outside as well. The wax sealed letter revealed she wasn’t sure where to look but remembers that the day it went missing, she had been to a lot of places in and out of the castle and left no breadcrumb trail. After reading I realized this was no fairy tale. Crossing the moat and passing thru the gatehouse Jen assured me all defense mechanisms were disabled. I started my search of the great hall, kitchen, Queen’s chamber and with no enemies this castle had no dungeon(darn!). I used my MXT with wide search coil to search the smaller outer courtyard behind the castle where she had travelled to bring hors d’oeuvres to her guests and the children. No signals came thru. So, I went to the larger outer courtyard in front of the castle and started to walk around the perimeter of the castle with my dowsing rod to see if it would indicate an attraction of where to metal detect. As I started to pass the stone walkway leading to the spiked oak door and near a brick tower next to the inner courtyard Jen was previously preparing for high tea the dowsing rod pulled sharply to the right. I walked into the inner courtyard and took another sweep with the rod to see if the signal was coming from behind the castle walls, but the rod pulled to the right towards the brick tower. Looking thru the small pile of leaves and debris where the attraction was revealed Jen’s ring concealed next to the tower!! As she looked out from an upper chamber, I hailed her to come out. As she held her precious ring in her hand, she was amazed that it was found where it was. And now with peace restored in the kingdom, she can close this chapter of the book, take back the curse the course it took, and over high tea tell a better story of the glory!

Lost Ring at Perdido Key, FOUND!!!

It’s not really summer anymore but we are still blessed with beautiful weather and that means days on the beach. Jennifer and her husband of 15 years came down from Arkansas and had been enjoying Perdido Key when calamity struck. Jennifer had taken her Diamond wedding band off and put it in the cup holder of her chair. After several relocations of the chair to find the perfect spot, Jennifer found herself packing up with the realization that her ring was gone. She Google searched and found me and luckily I was already nearby. She wasn’t sure if it was in the water or on the beach so I started with the easy part first. I had just set up a grid search and only barely started to cover the area when I heard a tone that had to be gold. I gently scooped it up and smiled at Jennifer.   September 8th,  Krista who was vacationing here in Carlsbad San Diego contacted me when she noticed her lost gold wedding ring vanished at the beach somewhere. Fortunately I live above the beach there being only a 5 min walk, It was easy to arrive quickly upon the scene of the lost ring. Krista showed me an area in the dry sand where she thought it could be,,I scanned over it once & immediately told her Sorry it’s not here!

Only other possible area it could have fallen off was in the surf as she pointed towards beach goers bobbing up & down just passed the shore breaking waves.

My hopes to help her sank immediately knowing it was not possible to swing a metal detector wading in crashing overhead surf sets but to make things even worse, Is the (Timing). Being lost during a (Neap) low tide period on a sloped beach…This means I would not be able to conduct a search until a minus (King) tide period coming up in 6-7 days!

These are the toughest calls I receive. Having to tell someone I can not even attempt to find their ring for a week.!  I then explained & showed Krista the local San Diego tide charts on my phone assuring her I would come back when the timing was right & Mother Nature permitted.

Next Friday the 13th, Committed with Ambition as I made an Iced coffee at 10:30pm knowing the king low tide was finally arriving just after midnight so I geared up then walked down there.

   

Nearly 2hrs had gone by waiting & fighting the surf then finally the ocean tide backed away far out enough allowing me to get where she may of lost her gold ring 6 days prior. Not long afterwards facing a pitch Black Sea I miraculously recovered her special wedding band in less than a foot down in waist deep water!  She was so relieved the next day to have her gold ring back. The timing was perfect again as they were headed back home to Utah to end their California Vacation that very Saturday the 14th!!

Diamond Engagement Ring Lost In House.. Jacksonville, FL. Found 1 Week Later

Andrea called me pretty frantic. She explained how her wedding ring set has 3 pieces and after returning from the gym she walked into her bedroom to prepare to shower. Before she was able to take her rings off, two of them just fell off her finger onto the floor next to the bed and nightstand. She was able to find one of the weddings bands and the other was still on her finger but her diamond engagement ring was nowhere to be found. She and her husband searched for an entire week even taking the bed and nightstand apart, still unable to find the ring. She said they were about to make an insurance claim but wanted to hire someone with expertise to search before making the insurance claim. I assured her that the ring did not vanish and we would find it. I arrived at her house with the tools needed to find her ring. Her bedroom floor was a laminate which would allow the ring to bounce. Within 2-3 minutes I was able to find her ring wedged into one of the nightstand legs. The ring was not in plain sight to the naked eye and somehow when the ring fell off her finger it bounced off the floor and under the nightstand, then wedged into the corner of the nightstand leg which had a wood support about 3″ off the floor. Her husband started that he had taken everything out of the nightstand and turned the entire nightstand over searching of the ring. She was so excited that it was found she asked if she can hug me, then her husband asked to hug me also.

My wife and I recently spent a week in Texas with our daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons. Part of the trip was a three day beach stay in Port Aransas along with other family members on both sides including our son and his wife. Of course, any opportunity I have to do detecting on a beach I try to take advantage of it so I carried along my Minelab Equinox 900 with me.

While detecting on the beach at Port Aransas the first day, my finds had been a handful of coins, a bling ring, a bling earring and an assortment of pull tabs. After a few hours of this, I was about a half mile north of the property where we were staying when I swung my detector over a target in the wet sand about four inches down on mid tide. The number on the display and the tone in my headphones gave me indications that the target was probably a beer cap but when I scooped it out of the wet sand I was pleasantly surprised to find what appeared to be a small gold class ring! After a quick wash of the ring in the salty water, I could see that I had found a Texas A&M class ring from 2021 and the full name of the owner was inscribed inside! For those of you who don’t know how important the achievement of a class ring is to an Aggie grad, you can find out more by searching “Aggie Ring Tradition” and the “Aggie Network”. To say it’s a big deal is a huge understatement.

I returned to where we were staying and began my research. I found two people on Facebook who had the same first and last names as what was inscribed in the ring and who lived in that part of Texas but only one of the two had graduated in 2021. I reached out to her through Facebook messenger (her first name is Amber) but I did not receive a response. The next morning, I decided to post the find on a Facebook page called “Aggie Ring Lost and Found” and it wasn’t long before some of Amber’s family and friends let her know that her ring had been found! Amber then responded to me and of course was shocked that I had found it because she lost it while playing beach volleyball about four years before and had only had it about four months. She had given it up for lost and had purchased a replacement ring. I told her that I was surprised it was still there because of how many people metal detect on beaches now. Amber asked me if I could return the ring to her brother Matthew who was in College Station for his last semester at Texas A&M when my family returned from our stay at Port Aransas and I promised her that I would. The day after our family returned to College Station from Port Aransas, I met Amber’s brother Matthew and returned the ring to him so he could deliver it to Amber who was living and working in San Antonio.

Amber, I was so happy that I could return your precious Aggie ring to you!
