Lost Wedding Ring in Sand at Laguna Beach, CA. .. Found and Returned
Kim had put her rings on her lap while putting on sun screen. A bee came close to her and she got up quickly swatting at the bee. Her two rings went into the sand. She and her husband Gary were able to find the larger ring.
After several hours dragging their fingers through the dry sand, someone on the beach told them about TheRingFinders. Kim called me summarizing what happened. I heard, dry sand, she knew the rings went into the sand, and they could stay at the location till I got there. Perfect! I told her the ring was just hiding and I could find it with a metal detector.
It was a busy beach day,but I was lucky to find a parking place without too much trouble. I located the black and white umbrella where Kim and Gary were patiently waiting. It was a quick recovery with smiles and everyone nearby celebrating the find of the ring with high fives and cheers.

I was in the water, in the middle of a ring search, when my wife called me on my waterproof mobile phone.
Call this number when you’re finished your search! A couple had lost their engagement ring on a small beach near the Mauna Kea hotel.
I raced to the area and ran along the trail to access the beach. The sun was starting to go down and people were hiking out of the area. « Oh, good you’re coming – that lady is besides herself! » called one guy. Another group said, « She’ll be relieved you’re here! » said a group as I walked down to the sand with metal detector and scoop in hand. There seems to have been quite some drama and many people from the beach had been looking with them in the water for their lost gold and diamond engagement ring.
The couple greeted me and we got right in the water and marked out the area they’d been in. The tide was rising so I went as deep as I could stand in the water. Back and forth, I finally hit a target and was sure it was the ring – the couple came racing over and we were all disappointed to see it was a coin. As we were looking at the coin a group of young, French tourists came and in broken English, asked if they could help look. The water was so murky from the surf and low light that any help was welcome!
I kept on my search line and worked around the French « team » as they formed a line and went from deep to shallow with their masks on keeping in a wide line.
Just as we’d exhausted the search area – one of the young men swam up and handed a diamond ring to the fiance. The couple, myself and the French team all burst into shouts of victory – in English and French!
As the French man had broken the line and swam out beyond where we could stand, he’d seen a small flash and swam down to get it – sure enough, the ring had washed out with the tide but was still sitting on top of the hard-packed sand!
We walked back in and got a Team photograph – all giving the Hawaiian « shaka » as our international team symbol of victory. We learned a little French, they learned a little English – and there was a whole lot of International gratitude to all parties involved!
Wedding Day Save, North Myrtle Beach SC
Matt Fry (TRF Myrtle Beach) called me saying he had just received a call for a lost ring in my area. He gave me Craig and Ashley’s phone numbers, and details on what happened and where it happened. I called Craig and got a few more details on their location and was on my way.
When I walked out on the beach, I saw the family standing in the dry sand, excited that I was there. The story goes that Craig and Ashley were getting married on the beach and Ashley’s son, Anthony, was the ring bearer. The way I understand it, as Anthony was handing the wedding band to Craig to place on Ashley’s finger, he dropped it in the soft sand, oops!!! I didn’t ask, but I assume the ceremony went forward without the wedding band. When I got to the spot the ring was dropped, I could tell the family had frantically searched the sand as there was a huge pile of sand that had been moved around. I turned on the machine, made two swings, and got a great tone on the Equinox 800 with an ID of 6 on the screen. Perfect number for the 14K white gold wedding band, maybe size 5-6, I was looking for. I ended up taking 3 small scoops of sand off the top of the pile before I saw her ring shining up at me from the bottom of the scoop. I took the ring out and handed it to Craig to verify, yep, we had the right one!!! Craig turned around and gave it to Ashely, and she wasted no time putting it back on her finger. It’s a great feeling to get that lost treasure back where it belongs.
As we got the pictures done, and walking back to the parking lot, Ashley’s daughter, Arial stopped, looked at me, and said; “I will never forget you.” Wow, that was awesome!
Craig, Ashley, Anthony, Craig Jr, Arial, and Ashley’s parents, it was indeed my pleasure to meet you all and help return your precious ring. Best of luck to all.

Two Platinum Wedding Rings Lost at Torrance Beach, CA…Found and Returned.

Keith called yesterday about a loss of 2 rings that happened Saturday. His wife had been at the beach, when she decided to put sunscreen on. She removed her rings, applied her sunscreen, and without realizing they were not back on her finger, she stood up and moved around. The rings were gone. Keith found me on the internet the day after asking if I could help. I explained that I would do a search for them, but also explained how the County cleans the beach with machines daily, and that the beach is searched often by other detectorists, so the possibility of a recovery had diminished considerably. We arranged to meet later in the evening when the crowds had dissipated.
When I got to the beach, I saw that there was already someone working close to the area that we were supposed to search. I figured it was possible that he already found the rings. I called Keith to let him know I had arrived, and found he was already there. I met him, then went to introduce myself to the other gentleman who was already searching the area to inform him that my interest was to look for the rings, and not to move in on him. He seemed alright with that. So I began my grid. I worked in an outside area to work my way in as I continued along. Keith and his wife figured I should move closer to the water, so I began another grid in that area. The other gentleman continued to work around in the area as well. After about 8 or 10 passes, I got a good signal, scooped, and had a nice heavy platinum ring in my scoop, and figured the second one wouldn’t be far away. I looked and looked making many more passes in the area, but not finding it. The other detectorist hearing the commotion after my recovery of the first ring came over to look at the ring, when he realized that he might have the other one, so he poured out the contents of his find bag on a towel, and there it was. He thought he had found a washer, and hadn’t paid it much attention until he saw the other ring.
So between me and my new detector friend Chuck, we were able to bring some amazing smiles back to Keith and his wife. Another great day!

“My wife was in a panic when she realized her engagement and wedding rings were missing on a Sunday afternoon. We retraced her steps and realized the last time we saw them was on the beach the day before.
I went to Yelp to look for metal detection equipment and Steve’s site was the first listed. I was surprised that he picked up the phone on a Sunday but he did and we arranged to meet; my expectations of finding the rings a day later were not high.
We met at the beach that afternoon. There are people who comb the beach as a hobby but my immediate impression was that Steve was a professional at this. I told my wife that this was not going to work…

He dumped his bag out and we had the complete set back. Huge relief!

Lost Celphone Found at an Equestrian Center .. Huntington Beach, CA.
James lost his cellphone while working at an equestrian boarding stables in Huntington Beach, CA. He had been driving a tractor using it to spread mulch over a large field. His cell phone was on the seat next to him. Some time during the morning his phone slipped off the seat into the field.
When James got a hold of me, he was just returning from buying a replacement phone. He asked if I could help search for his lost Iphone. It was a large area with several piles of soft wood chip mulch that could hide a phone. He believed that he mace have damaged the phone but would like to have a chance to retrieve information that he had not backed up, if we could find it.
James drove me to the search area walking through all the possible places the phone could be. Then he pointed out one pile that he thought was the most likely and I started there. It was just a place where he remembered hearing an unusual sound hit the floor of his tractor, several hours before discovering the loss of his phone.
James put me right on the spot and within the first 10 minutes my detector came up with a strong signal that turned out to be his phone in perfect condition. We though we might be looking for a phone that probably got damaged by any of the vehicles or the tractor.
James was amazed and thankful that his phone was found so easily. I know we had a lot of luck going for this search.

Lost Platinum Wedding Band and Ring Found Sun Retreats Sea Isle City NJ
I received a call from Bob who stated that his wife Emily lost her platinum wedding band and ring the day before. The rings were lost in waist deep water in the lake at Driftwood RV Campground just outside of Sea Isle City and Avalon. After a thorough grid search of an area of the lake both rings were recovered!!!

Was just leaving the beach i was detecting with my buddy Keith when I got a call from Louis. He was playing wiffle ball and his ring flew off throwing the ball.Told him we were leaving the beach and would stop by but would take about half hour to drive there. When we got there Louis pretty much knew the area the ring should be so Keith and I starting detecting. There were a good amount of targets in the yard, the grass was thick but it helped that the ring wasn’t buried but it was stepped on at one time making it stuck in the ground some, but after about 20 minutes out pops the ring. After a few high fives, and a lot of smiles, we were on our way home feeling good after a great recovery.

Lost Wedding Ring returned at Kelowna City Park
Will. was visiting Kelowna from Vancouver and was playing in the City Park with his family. On the way back to the hotel he noticed his wedding band was missing. After spending 1 hour on his hands and knees searching, he found me on the website and I responded the next morning at 6am. He showed me the area they had been playing in and within 2 minutes his wedding ring was returned to him.
5 minute hunt… 14k white gold wedding band lost, found, and returned! TRF Celina, Ohio
I received a call Wednesday (6/20/18) from Tim. While doing some yard work and planting some bushes at his home in Botkins Ohio the previous Friday he had realized that he had lost his wedding ring.
His 14k white gold wedding band had been a replacement for a wedding ring that he had lost a few years before. It had always fit a little loose and after planting the first bush he noticed it lying on the ground. He quickly picked it up and placed it back on his finger while thinking to himself that he really needed to get something done about the loose fit to avoid losing it. Minutes later after finishing his yard work he realized he had lost the ring yet again before he made it into the house. He related his story to me telling me that he was fairly confident that he knew a general area where it may have been lost. He was reviewing his options on what he should do. Should I buy a metal detector and try to locate it? Should I try to order a new ring? (Kind of pricey to keep doing that.)
After a few questions I told him that I was fairly confident that it could successfully be recovered and most likely in a very short amount of time. It had to most likely be in the area he thought and right on top of the ground. We made plans to get together Saturday (6/23/18).
Since the area was small and the target should be right on the surface of the ground I thought it might be fun to bring along a second metal detector so that he could try his hand at it as well. I set the detector up for him and after taking a few minutes to show him what a white gold ring would ring up like on the machine and explaining that it should be right on the surface of the ground we were off and looking for his missing ring.
Imagine the surprise when 5 minutes or so later I came back to where he was searching and asked his wife if she could take a picture for me. She kindly replied that she could take a picture for me and then I turned to Tim and asked him if a picture of this would be good.
I gladly held my hand out and handed him back his lost wedding ring!
5-minute hunt… 14k white gold wedding band recovered and returned…. Happy to see the ring returned and another happy ending! So glad to be a part of it!
