Wedding Ring Recovered in East Pensacola Bay

1 Macain and his extended family where celebrating his Grandmothers 80th birthday. While enjoying the water his wedding ring dropped off his finger. He, his wife and brothers searched as best they could with snorkel gear and feeling the sandy bottom with hands and feet with no success. They texted Pensacola Ring Finders facebook page and I responded back that I would be happy to help. When I arrived everyone was having a grand time, kids running around and family and friends enjoying Grandmother birthday. I got to meet Granny and wished her a wonderful birthday. She was in great health and I enjoyed our conversation. Macain’s ring was lost in shallow water between two docks and didn’t take long to find, about 45 minutes. Macain and his wife are newly weds so the recovery of the ring meant a bunch to them. When I found it I held it up in the air to show them, they immediately stood and rushed to the dock. The news of Macain’s found ring rapidly moved amount the family and friends. Very exciting! On my way to leave, the family Matriarch, Granny, came up and thanked me, that meant a lot to me.

Texas A&M Class Ring Recovered at Navarre Beach

Loren and his family from Philadelphia, Virginia, Atlanta, Texas and Louisiana had traveled to Navarre Beach for a family reunion. Everyone was having a wonderful time, Loren was throwing the football around with his brothers while cooling off in the water and He felt the ring slide off his finger and disappear in the sand. This ring was special to Loren, his Texas A&M Class Ring that meant a lot to him and he wanted the original back! His wife called a friend who knew the Pensacola area and recommended Pensacola Ring Finders. I was contacted and told them I would help. The ring was lost in chest deep water and the area rather large. It took three and a half hours to find. The family had just about lost faith that it would be found so when found everyone was ecstatic. That’s when Loren’s wife shared with me why it was of the upmost importance that his original ring be recovered. Tradition! Having a worn A&M class ring meant it is always on his finger, a symbols of honor and loyalty to the school, class mates, his education and chosen profession as a Engineer. I’ve a grand daughter going to engineering school at A&M now so we instantly bonded. Loren and his family are the nicest people you ever want to meet. I am glad I met them, could help and wish them the best. Hook Em’ Loren!

Lost White Gold Engagement Ring-Found!

I received a text from Leslie on Monday afternoon concerning a lost engagement ring.  She had found me with an internet search.  As it was late in the day I told her I could come the next day, becase it was about a two hour drive from where I’m located.  I got to the site at around 11:00 AM Central Time.   The couple had been pulling a boat and pulled off into the parking lot of an old convience store that had been converted into another use.  As they got out to adjust the boat straps, (the ring had been placed in the shallow tray under the door handle), the ring somehow went flying.  They looked on the pavement and didn’t see it, but there was a grass strip between the pavement and a shallow ditch, then more grass just beyond the ditch.  I started my search in the grass strip, then the ditch, then just beyond the ditch.  Being this had been a convience store at one time I expected a lot of metal trash in the ground, and I was right.  She did have a metal detector that had been her grandfather’s, but was overwhelmed by the abundance of metal trash.  I searched slowly and methodically while listening for the white gold tone and looking for the target ID I typically get for white gold rings.  After searching the entire area, no ring.  Of course I found several pieces of foil.  I turned off my CTX detector, and was explaing the process, where I search the most likely area first, then expand the search area if the ring is not found, (a visual scan of the pavement was next).  At that time someone from the building, I’ll call him « Tom », came out and we explained what we were doing, and that a visual scan of the pavement was next.  He struck out towards the highway, and in around ten seconds I heard him call out, « is this it? »  He had found it around 10-12 feet from the edge of a busy highway!  The ring was intact, but had some minor damage where it looked as though it had been run over and stuck in the tire treads before dropping off just before the highway.  In a visual search, the more eyes the better.  All in all, another successful search!

Stefania called me to help find her husband’s lost wedding band on the beach in Wildwood Crest, NJ. They left the beach a few hours prior and realized it was missing. She explained that Chris put the ring in the chair and figured it must have fallen out when she packed up. I met the family on the beach in the general area and began the search. The ring didn’t turn up in the search area, so the only option was to look where a nearby couple was sitting. The couple was kind to move their belongings
and it wound up being under their chair! Stefania and Chris were excited to get the ring back and resume the remainder of their vacation in Wildwood Crest, NJ.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring Found in Garden City Michigan

Sugar’s Mama….

…Cheryl had just arrived home after a busy day. Anxious to be home, her dog Sugar was excited in the vehicle and couldn’t wait to get out. As Cheryl put the leash on and started to head towards the house, Sugar caught scent of something and tried to bolt off. Cheryl pulled back on the leash and in the melee, her late husband’s ring flew off.  Remembering seeing the ring fly off and hearing it ping twice on something she looked around but couldn’t find it. Searching with my MXT metal detector made short work of the loss by finding it in the grass nowhere near where it came off. Now with the ring back in place I got to meet Sugar. I gave her a pat on the head and a wagging tail assured all was well again!

Vito was vacationing in Stone Harbor, NJ when he lost a ring that is very sentimental to him. He was referred to my FaceBook page Ring Finders South Jersey by several people after he posted that it was lost. I talked to him about it, and he wasn’t sure if the ring was lost in the ocean or up in the dry sand. That night I searched the dry sand, but the gold ring wasn’t there. I went out at the next low tide and searched from waist-deep water to the shoreline. The search area was quite broad and I had to expand the grid area a few times. Finally, the metal detector gave me a nice deep signal. I dug into the sand and pulled up the ring! It was buried about 9 inches under the sand. I met up with Vito to return the ring and he was thrilled to have his grandfather’s ring back.

Lost Ring Gulf Shores, AL – FOUND!!!

Yesterday, I had already been in the water in Gulf Shores for hours and I was worn out.  I got into some dry clothes in the parking lot and started to head back towards my wife in Orange Beach when I looked at my phone.  When I saw that I had several missed calls from the same Arkansas number, I knew someone needed help.  Before I left the parking lot I listened to one of the voice mails and then called back Whitney who was very nice and very concerned.  She was down from Arkansas with her husband Doug and they had recently celebrated their 10th anniversary.  In fact, he had just given her a beautiful diamond wrap ring to go around her main ring as a gift and they had just had it soldered on.  So you can imagine her dismay when she was messing with a boogie board on the second sandbar and the rope quickly snatched her ring off sending it flying into the gulf. I ended up only being a few miles away and told them that I would come immediately.  When I got there, the tide was going out and they were really concerned because the sandbar was obviously moving.  They only had hours until that sand swallowed up her heavy ring and it had already been three since she lost it. Luckily Doug had acted quickly when he saw Whitney panicked in the Gulf and called out for her not to move.  He came out and got a great frame of reference off a building and even threw out a few quarters as markers.  When I got set I quickly found the quarters but unfortunately the ring was nowhere to be found.  I started to see everyone get really down as I made lap after lap but I tried to keep them positive and told them with moving sand and waves, sometimes you just have to put your time and effort in.  I had about one or two laps left until I knew Whitney would know we were out of space and I could see it in her eyes that they were resigned that they were going to lose her precious ring.  That’s when I heard that beautiful sound in my ears.  I looked up and saw that it was close to as far out as they thought but a bit west.  I couldn’t help but get my hopes up as I realized this could be it.  I very gently placed my scoop so I wouldn’t scratch it and as soon as I saw the flash of a diamond I reached down in the scoop and grabbed it letting the sand rush off in the water.  I held it up with a big smile and Doug came running first.  He held it out to Whitney and I got to watch tears of joy show just how special it was to them.  I’m so glad I could fix the first day of this trip Doug and Whitney and I wish you many more happy decades together.

Platinum Wedding and Engagement Rings Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned Holden Beach NC

Saturday, July 29th around 1030 a.m. I got a text saying “Hey Jim, my wife lost her rings on Holden beach this morning. Are you able to help us find them?” Instead of texting back and forth, I called the number. I talked to Preston, who explained, either on the phone or after I got there that his wife, Ashley had taken her 2 rings off and set them in the seat of her chair. After doing so, she applied sun screen to their two year old daughter. Ashley had forgotten about her rings until her daughter told her she had thrown them into the sand. That started the family searching for the rings in the sand. Unable to find either ring, Preston took to Google to find a metal detector that he could rent. I don’t remember how, but he eventually found me through The Ring Finders. I told him I’d be there in an hour.

When I got there, Preston was waiting for me in the driveway and we walked across the street to the beach. Once in the area of the loss, I got to meet Ashley and their little culprit. I started a grid search and cleared one possible area and moved on to the more probable spot. A couple of steps, and I got the VDI (visual display indicator) I was expecting. Took a scoop of sand and dumped it out on the beach. I had one target out of the hole, which turned out to be the wedding ring that I handed to Preston. Next scoop out of the hole held the engagement ring. Both Rings recovered and back where they belong.

Sentimental Sterling Silver Necklace Lost in the Ocean, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

Just about 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 28th, I got a text saying “Is this the guy who finds rings and stuff at the beach? I don’t know how to word it better.” I responded saying, “Yes, what you got?” He responded, “So I just lost a chain maybe 1 hour ago and I’m at a place named crescent sands. I was out body-surfing and it fell off and I’m not sure if it’s been washed up or not. I’ve had the chain for over 10 years and was wondering if you possibly could give me any advice on finding it?” At this point, it’d be easier to talk to him than text, so I called him. We introduced ourselves and I learned his name was Anson. I got a few more details, including confirming the time and how deep he was in the water. A quick check of the tide tables, and he was waist deep a little over an hour before high tide. This was good, in that, the closer I could get out there near low tide, the necklace should be in the wet sand. I told Anson I’d be there at 9 p.m. which was about an hour before low tide. Meanwhile I’m watching the weather and it looks more and more like a thunderstorm is brewing.

About 8 p.m. the skies were clouding up and the light rain started. I decided to get there early and try and beat the storm. I arrived at the condo and text Anson saying, “I’m here early to beat the storm.” As I’m walking out on the beach I see lightening way off in the distance and over the ocean. It’s time to get started.  Anson and his younger brother came out of the condo as I’m working a perpendicular grid line to the surf line. We verified the search boarder lines on the condo and I continued the grid search, high tide line to about thigh deep in the ocean. After about an hour and almost at the end of the south end of the boarder, I got a great signal with a VDI of 15. With Sterling Silver I expected a higher VDI number, but at this point I’ll take any signal I could get. I dug a big scoop of sand, checked the hole which was clear, and spread the sand out on the beach. It was pitch black out there by now, so I turned on my headlamp. I started spreading out the sand with my hand, hoping to feel the target. All of a sudden I saw a section of Anson’s necklace appear out of the sand. Boom! I gently pulled the necklace out of the sand. I was able to get a half descent picture of it and sent it to Anson with a text saying “This it????” He immediately responded “yes that’s it, Oh my gosh.” The next thing I knew Anson and his brother came running up to me from down the beach. This is when I got the rest of the necklace story. Anson told me he had received the necklace from his father roughly 10 years ago and he’s been wearing it ever since. He then told me his dad had passed away one year ago. So the importance of this necklace was much more than priceless to him. I was truly honored to be able to help get this necklace back where it belonged. Another thing that touched me deeply is his last text to me – “And I wanna just say god bless you. You have made my life better.”
