I was contacted by Katie on Saturday regarding her husband’s Lost Wedding Ring in Lake Conroe. Katie said she located me on The Ring Finders directory and wanted to know if I could assist her in recovering her husband’s wedding ring. Katie said the ring was in about 4 foot of water off the dock behind their residence on Lake Conroe.

An excerpt from our communications on Saturday.

Hi john…its Katie Harris. I spoke to you regarding my husband’s ring that I lost off of our boat dock. So mad at myself. He had his original ring stolen, and we just replaced it a week ago…and now I lost it!!

I asked Katie some details about the location and she was able to provide very descriptive information on the search location. (water depth, bottom conditions –mud, sand or sludge) and whether there was public access to the area to determine the urgency in our recovery efforts.

Katie had been cleaning out her pool skimmer baskets and tossing the leaves and pine needles into the lake. Katie had put on her husband’s wedding ring earlier as a reminder to take it to the jewelry store.

I asked Katie to send me some photographs of the dock and the area she believed the ring had been dropped in the water.

I made arrangement with Katie to be at her residence the following morning. The plan was to meet with her son Tyler at the residence Sunday morning. I arrived around 10am Sunday morning and meet with Tyler who walked me through the events that led to ring being lost.

I was thinking this was going to be a very fast recovery as the perceived area to be searched was very small. I set out with the At Gold and found the bottom to be relatively clean of signals.  I worked the search area several times with negative results. I pushed the search area out a little further thinking the ring flew a little farther than Katie might have thought. I hit a couple of promising targets, but they were not the missing ring.

I closed in tighter on the search area, and started working under the dock were Katie had been standing and tossing the leaves. Bingo, I hit the ring right next to the edge of the dock, it was  on one of the piers footings.

I was glad to find the ring, I knew it meant a lot to Katie and her husband.

Platinum Wedding Band Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found.

My son and I had just gotten home from getting him some football cleats for the upcoming season, when I received a call from Claire. She said she had lost a ring and was hoping I could help. Well I was home and close to my equipment, so I knew that I could get on the road towards her location quickly. I was about an hour away, but I knew that beach, and with our weather (wonderful), it would be packed and parking would be at a premium. Fortunately I was able to park quickly, and found her. I then met her husband of three weeks, Paul, and they explained how they had come from London in the UK, to honeymoon in California, Arizona, and Nevada, and spent today lounging on our local beach. They told me that Paul wanted to go in the water, and did not want to lose his ring, so he gave it to his new wife for safekeeping. Claire did not want to lose it either, so she put the ring on her thumb, and laid back on her towel; she then dosed off. Something awoke Claire, and when she awoke a reflex caused her to flick her wrist, and off went the ring. They had been searching for a while, but were unable to find the ring. Paul showed me the area he thought the ring had gone to, and that was the area they concentrated on. Getting all of the information, I then began a small grid of the area, and low and behold Paul was correct in his assessment; I found the ring right in the area Paul had been searching. It is amazing to know how hard these rings are to find, even when you are looking right at them, so to speak. I really enjoyed hearing about their travels, and seeing the happiness that I was able to leave on the beach today, another great day.

Double Ring Find – Webb Lake, WI

We have a cabin on Webb Lake in northwestern Wisconsin.  On August 3rd I was in shallow  (about 4 ft deep) water, throwing toys around between my sons and a friend.  After returning to the cabin, I discovered that my wedding ring was not on my finger.  I was gripped with an awful feeling of loss.  Beside the fact that it was a symbol of love and marriage for 27 years, it was unique… could never be duplicated.  That ring was designed by my wife, Peggy, and was hand crafted by an elderly Latvian artist friend (no longer alive), Mike Geistauts.  Mike, a sculptor artist, used the ancient “lost wax” investment casting method to create our gold wedding rings according to Peg’s design.

Family and friends hunted for many hours without success that weekend.  Then a co-worker alerted us to www.TheRingFinders.com website and I got in touch with Dan Roekle.  Dan and his son, Carter, loaded up their search equipment and made the very long drive  from their home near Madison to Webb Lake (a 5+ hour drive).  They arrived on the morning of August 16th.  By lunchtime, they had searched the entire identified area and had pulled up a lot of odd metal objects including, incredibly, someone else’s wedding ring.  For a moment, my wife thought they had found my lost ring, but quickly determined it was not it.  Dan said he had never been so disappointed to find a ring before in his life.   They resumed the search after lunch and Carter, swimming with goggles spotted my ring and retrieved it.  Dan and Carter think that it was probably next to another piece of junk that they dug up earlier in the day … which stirred up the sand and uncovered it.

Peg and I were elated and so very grateful.  It was so amazing to get that precious ring back on my finger.  At this time, the ring is off my finger again for resizing.  Thank you so very much, Dan and Carter, for being willing to come so far and search until you succeeded.

Ring found in Dennis Port, Cape Cod, MA returned!

A visiting California detectorist, Jim, was detecting on a Cape Cod Beach when a stranger, Arty, struck up a conversation. The conversation got around to items Jim had found. Artie asked Jim if he had found a Celtic Knot wedding band. Jim had but it was not at “this” beach. However, Jim did know of one found at the beach Jim and Arty were standing on. Jim gave Arty the detectorist’s contact information and Arty passed it along to Matt, the man who had lost the ring two weeks prior.

Within some fifteen minutes I was talking to Matt who could not believe I had found the ring and wanted to return it for just a Thank You Note. Long story short a few days later I returned the ring to Matt.

The strange twist in the story Jim is on the board of directors of a company who’s President had hired Matt several years ago. It sure is a small world and the meeting of strangers and a the ring’s return was just meant to be. Call it what you like, but strange occurrences do happen for a reason believe it or not!

It was Tuesday, July 22 and I was spending the day with my family at Glendon Beach (Dennis Port, MA). My friend Brian and I were throwing the football around in shallow waters when I noticed that I nearly lost my wedding ring after making a diving catch into the ocean. At this point, the normal person would have walked up to his belongings and taken the ring off but I, of course, didn’t do that!! Sure enough 3 minutes later I noticed that my ring had slipped off.

I spent nearly an hour looking for the ring and assumed it was lost forever. Later that week I ran into a lady with a metal detector and asked her if she had found a ring but no luck. Nearly two weeks later, and a day after we left the Cape, my friend Arty ran into a guy who also had a metal detector. He asked about my ring and this guy hadn’t found it either but he said it sounded ‘familiar’ to a ring his friend Rick had found at this same beach. He gave Arty a business card for the “The Ring Finders” which had Rick Browne’s contact info on it.

Shortly after Arty texted me Rick’s info I sent an email to The Ring Finders. Only 13 minutes after I hit send on that email Rick was calling my cell phone. Amazingly he had found my ring!! I thought for sure this ring was long gone and my wife and I were already considering replacement options. I cannot thank Rick and the The Ring Finders enough for finding my wedding ring!

Wedding Band Lost in Seal Beach, CA…Found.

I had just spent the morning metal detecting the beach, and was on my way home, but was going to do some shopping first. I had just entered Costco when my phone rang. Katelyn called and said she had lost her ring at the beach, and was unable to find it. Well I still had all of my equipment in the vehicle, and knew the beach was about 45 minutes away, and also knew that this beach is one that gets cleaned real good, so time once again was working against me. I told Katelyn I would be there as quickly as possible, and she said she would wait for me. I left my cart in the aisle and took off for the beach. When I got there she had cordoned off the area she thought the ring was lost in using towels, toys, baskets, and a wagon, which was a great help. I got ready, and began my search. I searched the whole area, and then we had to start moving the « fencing ». We moved everything, and no ring. Then we moved the wagon. I searched the area under the wagon, and then the area behind where it was parked, and that is when I heard the sweet tone of gold in my earphones. One scoop was all that was needed, and Katelyn had her ring back. What a joy to see her joy today. She told me she had taken it off when she was putting her hand in the sand, and then found it missing. She also said that she and her husband just celebrated their first wedding anniversary last month, so what a disappointment it was to lose the very symbol of that occasion. I am thankful I was able to help Katelyn today. Katelyn was referred to me by Stan Ross (fellow Ring Finder).

Lost Wedding ring in Rathdrum ID

Six Feet of water and a Muddy hay stack

I’ve worked hard in my career, I have dug post holes in 100 degree heat, I’ve cleaned up the foulest smelling liquid a human can produce, I’ve worked with people who hated life and loved making your life miserable. But floating in six feet of green murky water swinging a detector by the arm cup and trying to use a scoop without seeing where it was scooping has been the hardest job yet that I completely loved and would do for free for the rest of my life. I am 5’9” the spot where the ring went into the water was about 6’6”. So with the Excalibur fully extended and me holding on to the arm cup of the detector I searched for 2 hrs. I found a piece of a fishing reel, a cap off of a light bulb I think, a stinkin’ Lincoln, and most importantly Sky’s palladium wedding ring. First go at finding the ring only left me shivering and empty handed. But after the shivers went away and I got back in the water the next signal was the ring. Only problem was that I didn’t know that and I had to get it in the scoop. I had a strategy, though, I was setting the scoop in front of the coil and then scooping towards where I was floating. The third scoop was the ring and as I brought the scoop into view I saw the ring it was sticking out of the mud. I didn’t know for sure and after frantically swimming to shallower water I saw the ring in the bottom of the scoop. I looked up saw Sky looking at me so I gave him a thumbs up. I don’t think I have celebrated so hard since my kids were born. It was a needle in a muddy hay stack but by the grace of God and perseverance, a man named Sky has a story about how he got his lost ring back. Thank you for calling me Sky and thank you Chris for the directory that allows us to help people. It truly is the best job in the world like you say .

Lost Cartier Love Bracelet Found in Stephenville, Texas

I received a call from Trina Murray in June of 2014. She explained that she had lost  her 18k gold Cartier Love bracelet while out riding her horse on a large pasture on a friends farm back in February. One of her riding friends had found one half of her bracelet. It was a very sentimental piece since her parents had bought it for her in the 80’s. I scheduled to go out and perform the search on Friday August 1st, 2014. When we arrived her friend showed us the approximate location where she  found the other half, by a clump of trees. As this was a large area I enlisted the help of my partner Alex. Trina showed up and said she also rode over to the end of the trail and unmounted her horse there. I asked her to leave a marker there for us to search. Trina had to leave and I told her I would call her and keep in touch. Her friend showed us the normal horse trails they ride and we started scanning 3 pronounced trails in the 8 – 10 inch tall grass. We searched for about two hours about 500 feet each direction from a clump of trees where the other half was found. Then we searched the end of the trail where Trina left the marker about 1200 feet from the trees. At that point we were going to search the other side towards a fenced area, another 1500 feet from the trees. I decided to scan the right trail on the way back that Alex had searched on the way up. At about 400 feet from the trees I got a very strong repeatable signal and I prayed this was it. As I knelt down and brushed away the dirt and dead grass there it was gold shining in the Texas sun. Boy we were excited! I called Trina and told her we had no luck. She asked if she could mail me a check for our trip charges and I said I needed her to sign our search contract, she gave me her address and off we went. When we arrived I showed her the contract and told her we had to show what we did find. I pulled out some aluminum pieces from my bag, then a 22 bullet, a large washer, and another 22 magnum bullet, I then said sorry no bracelet, then looking back in my bag I said but we did find a half  bracelet! Wow her face lit up and she could not believe we found it, she was so excited and happy and gave me a big hug! Thank you so much Trina for the great experience and reward! It was our pleasure in helping you locate your beautiful Love bracelet. Alex and I are so very glad that we made your day. We may have to go back some day and ride those beautiful horses!

Lost Wedding Ring at Waikiki Beach…Found!!!

Hot muggy day on Oahu when I received a panic phone call from Jodi who just lost her ring at Waikiki Beach.  She explained to me that she had just entered the water and reached up to adjust her ponytail when she felt her ring slip off into the water.  There was a little bit of surf not too bad so she tried feeling around for her ring with her bare feet.  The combination of sand and stones made it very difficult to feel anything let alone the ring, so after 10 hopeful minutes she gave up.  A tourist on the beach told her she saw a guy metal detecting the previous day with a shirt that said, « Ringfinder something or other »  Jodi quickly did a Google search on her phone and found the site and that’s where I come in.  She called my cellphone and I just happened to be a few blocks away and could be there in about 5 minutes.  Knowing the ring was just lost moments ago I asked Jodi a few simple questions then I walked into the water where Jodi said she had been standing when she lost her ring.  It wasn’t 30 seconds when I had a target on my Excalibur and with a nice gentle scoop there was her ring.  It was almost too easy.  I wish every search could be like this.  Then Jodi faded away?  The ring, place and situation is real unfortunately Jodi is not.  I’m sure this ring had some wonderful memories attached to it but they are now lost forever because the owner probably never heard of The Ring Finders.  We are here to help.  Aloha, Joe

I received an e-mail from Christopher 07/29/2014 Tuesday night regarding his Fiancé’s Lost Engagement Ring. Christopher and I spoke a short time later and he explained he and his Fiancé were playing around in his front yard when her ring came off and was lost in the front lawn. Christopher said he has been looking for the ring for over two days and not be able to find her ring in the deep grass in his front yard. Christopher said after a short internet search he came across “The Ring Finders”

Christopher sent the following photographs Tuesday night of the area that would need to be searched.

Lost Ring in Victoria Found and Returned

Adele was visiting Victoria with her daughter (Errin) and grandchildren from Lethbridge Alberta.

July 27th the grandchildren and some neighbourhood children decided to play Princess, using Adele’s jewellery. Mom Erin discovered the kids were playing with her mothers jewellery in the back yard and several items became scattered all over the yard and in the flower gardens.

Everyone searched and most items were recovered, except one very important ring that Adele’s past husband gave her. As you can imagine this ring being the last ring that he gave her before passing was very special and important.

Errin searched the internet and found me on the www.theringfinders.com web site

After getting a message on my Cell Phone to called Adele re a lost ring I arranged a time to search.

About 20 minutes into the search I found this awesome 3 diamond ring.

I love my job, nothing better then a Happy Ending.
