Lost Wedding Ring at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found.

I received a call from Miguel July 5th asking if I would be able to help him find his wedding ring. We arranged to meet in the afternoon at the location of the loss. When I arrived Miguel took me to the site, which was a volleyball court. I then proceeded to ask how the ring was lost. He knew exactly where he was when the ring came off. He felt it come off, but did not see where it landed. He explained how all of his friends began a thorough search of the area he believed the ring to fly into with no results, he then found me on TheRingFinders.com.

I asked Miguel to show me what he did to cause the ring to come off, so he reenacted  the hit to the ball. I noticed that his hands moved in such a way to possibly cause the ring to go off in a different direction, but started my search where he thought it was. After searching the area he showed me, I started my search in the area I envisioned the ring to fly into, and in about 2 minutes more, « BANG », my earphones rang out with the sound I was anticipating. I held his ring up, and his joy seemed overwhelming. Miguel had just gotten married in April, and he explained how he felt burdened because of the loss, also his wife had taken it very hard. Well I got to experience Miguel’s smile, but I wish I was there when he went back to his wife, because he was going to hold off telling her until he got home. I would have loved to see her smile as well. Wonderful day.

Lost Gold Diamond Woman’s Ring in Gahanna, OH. “FOUND”

I received a call in the morning about a lost ring in the front yard somewhere. The ring was tossed in the yard by mistake. After they searched for the ring for hours they came up empty handed. I showed up to the address later that day to start the search. After searching for half an hour, there was the ring hidden in the grass away from eye site. They were very happy to have the ring returned back to them.

Ring Lost in Sand .. Venice Beach, CA. .. Found

Monday .. 6-22-15

Early Monday morning Kayley met with some friends for about an hour on the beach. She set her ring on her sandals when they walked to the water. On the way back to her house she realized her ring must have fallen into the sand. Returning to the place she was sitting, she could not find the ring.
Kayley called me and I was able to meet her about 12 noon. When I walked out on the beach I could see that the beach rake had passed over the area where she said she was sitting. My expectations for a easy recovery were not very positive until she told me that the rake machine had already passed before sitting on the beach.
I set up a grid search. After about a half hour with no success I started to cross grid the location. Kayley was sitting on the sand watching with hope that the next time I dug a target it would be her ring.
Then a young guy, that was part of a surfing school, walked up to Kayley. He wanted to know what we were looking for? She told him about her lost ring and to her surprise he had found it. He returned it to her. I believe that because we set up the search area, we attracted the attention of people around us. The most important thing was that Kayley’s ring was back on he finger where it belongs. She was also able to get to a 2pm yoga class that she was teaching. I call that « Good timing Luck »

Lost Gold Diamond Woman’s Ring at lake in Ohio. “FOUND”

I received a call about a lost ring in a lake. She was just washing her hands in the water and there went the ring, off her hand into the water. She searched for the ring with her hands, but no luck. We setup a time and day to conduct the search. With all of my metal detecting gear, we headed out to the location on a 20 minute boat ride. After reaching the location and determining the starting point to search. As the water level as changed quite a bit since the ring was lost. I had my first hit in a couple feet of water, used my sand scoop and pull up nothing. I try again and there was a gold ring inside of my scoop. I asked her if this ring is yours and she cheer with joy as yes it was hers missing ring. The ring mean a lot to her as it was her moms. She could not believe that I found the ring. She try a couple of times before to find the ring with no luck. She did have insurance on the ring, but it would not have replaced the ring with so much sentimental value to the ring as this one did. She is very happy to have the ring return back to her.

Lost engagement ring Found at La Jolla Shores

Shortly after returning home from metal detecting for fun all morning with some of my fellow Ring Finders, I received a call from Mariana who had lost her engagement ring in the dry sand at La Jolla Shores. I told her I would meet her there in a half hour or so. I then put my cold drink back in the fridge, gathered my gear, and headed back out for what I hoped would be an easy return. As it turned out, that’s exactly what it was. Mariana had taken her ring off before going into the ocean, but, her hands were slippery with lotion, and the ring fell into the sand.  She showed me the area where she was standing when this happened and after maybe 10 seconds, I got a weak low tone in my E-trac that has said « small gold » in the past. I poked my Uniprobe down about 4-5 inches and found the ring. Mariana and her fiance’ were very happy as they are to be wed the first of August. On the way out, I stopped by the lifeguard stand and thanked them for the referral, then headed back home for that long awaited cold drink! I’m glad I could be a small chapter in this ring’s story and help it continue it’s journey into a full novel. My pleasure meeting you, thank you for the reward, and best wishes for your future together.

Lost rings found at North Avenue Beach Chicago

Got a call at 8:30AM on Sunday, Fathers Day.
Woman was very upset that she lost both her wedding band and her engagement ring at North Ave Beach on Saturday. Took off her rings to put on lotion and forgot they were on her lap. She was leaving Chicago shortly on Sunday. Time was of the essence.  Didn’t want to break the news to her husband on Father’s Day that she lost both rings. Since they were white gold and I didn’t know how small they were, I decided to take the XP Deus and hunt in 18kHz. They had been searching the area 3 different times and lots of people had been trying to help her find them. I gridded off the area that she had been in. They were both down about 5 inches. Probably because people had been moving the sand around. Both rings came in at 45 in my ring program that Andy Sabisch helped me set up at his XP Deus Bootcamp. As you can see the wedding band was very thin, although covered in diamonds. Don’t think I would have found it if I had not been in 18kHz. Found it in less than 10 minutes.
The owner was in tears she was so relieved. She kept saying that I saved her. She was so excited to get the rings back on her hands that you can still see the sand on them!  It’s great to be able to help people. What a great hobby. Ring Found .. Santa Monica Beach, Ca. .. Lost in Sand

Olga and Hector are visiting Santa Monica, Beach from New York. Hector wanted to do a little work out on the gymnastics bars and rings on the beach. He gave Olga his small gold ring to hold for him. She slipped it on her finger for safe keeping. After a half hour she realized the ring was gone. It had to be somewhere in the sand where she had been watching Hector.
Olga found TheRingFinders.com after a Google search on her iPhone. I was an hour away and after hearing her story, told her this would probably be an easy search. It was important that she stayed in the location. This will help make it a quick recovery. I was able to get to her location with the cooperation of Los Angeles freeway traffic.
I called Olga as I walked to the beach recreation equipment. She came walking out of the crowd saying she recognized me carrying my metal detector equipment. She pointed out where it might be. With less than 10 swings of my detector coil I got that sweet gold tone. Hector’s ring in the sand scoop. They gave me big Hi Fives and thanked me with a real sincerity. They even had enough time to take the walk on the Santa Monica Pier which they had planned to do before losing the ring. This never gets boring. Every search is special.

Lost Class Ring from 1958 – Wait till you watch the video!

Lost and FOUND Lady’s White Gold Wedding Band at North Myrtle Beach SC

While out shopping with my wife, daughter and granddaughter I received a call from Allison who was very upset that she lost her wedding band. She said she was digging in the sand with her son and thought she should take both her engagement ring and wedding band off. She told me she put them in a bag next to her towel and when she went to retrieve them only the engagement ring was in the bag. I told her I could be there in about an hour to hour and a half.  When I arrived at the beach behind the resort where she was staying I called her and she quickly met me. I also met her husband Gordon who had already marked a 15X20 foot square in the sand around the area they had been sitting. I asked her to describe her ring, what exactly happened and the general area she was in. I set a north/south grid and started searching. The first grid line produced a beer cap, the second grid line produced a house or room key and when I looked at her I could see her hope in finding the ring was fading. There was nothing on the third grid line and as I turned to do the fourth line I got a good signal with my White’s PI dual field and took a shallow scoop. After shaking out the sand I couldn’t see anything with the sea grass in the scoop so I  shook the scoop one more time – bingo!!! There was her size 5 wedding band. I reached in the scoop, looked at her, gave her a little smile and a wink and nodded my head for her to come over to me. She covered her mouth with both hands and I’m pretty sure tears started rolling out of both of our eyes. I held my closed fist out and dropped the ring in her outstretched hands and then got one of  the biggest hugs I’ve ever had. I got extra hugs and handshakes from her husband, dad and a couple of other relatives. It was truly amazing and something I’ll never forget. Total search time was less than 5 minutes.

Corporation Beach, Dennis, MA Lost Ring Found and Returned

Summer temperatures, light breezes and calm seas are calling Cape Cod visitors to come and enjoy any one of the many beaches. Kathleen and family members were among those answering the call on Wednesday. Fair skin needs to be protected, but the sun screen cream tends to mar the brilliance of diamonds. To prevent it from happening to her ring Kathleen took it off, put in in her bag and gave the bag to her mother. Fast forward to the time to go…no ring was to be found in the bag. A visual search and later a search with an inexpensive hardware store metal detector yielded no results.

It was then that Kathleen reached out for professional help. We met at the beach, I was shown the area, and searched far more than the original area. Several nice ladies and infants were occupying an area in the center of my gridded area. The ladies did move over somewhat, but not entirely off the area I had not yet searched. Not wanting to “disturb” the ladies again, I was headed to my car to get a different detector, one that had different operating characteristics. As I started to go the ladies picked up their chairs and bags and left the beach. I returned to quickly search the area and two minutes later Kathleen was wearing the lost, found and returned ring.

Hugs, smiles and a bit of metal detecting talk led to the attached smile and ring photo.
