This afternoon I received an email from a Hawthorne Hills couple who had lost a ring over the weekend. While fidgeting with one of her rings on the back deck, the ring slipped out of her hand and they heard it hit the deck and roll! The deck was on a steep incline with lots of landscaped features and shrubbery around it, all very viable and hard to find places it could have landed. They searched for a while before realizing what they needed was a metal detector… or even better, a Ringfinder!

After a phone conversation where I got the details I needed to plan my attack, I gathered up my gear. I made it there soon thereafter and started to hunt the landscaped hillside. After striking out around the perimeter, the grim possibility that it slipped through the cracks of the deck was growing. The heat was stifling, and my summer attire of flipflops and shorts was not the best choice of armor to battle man-eating spiders and other scary things (alive or dead) in the cramped dark area under the deck! But once I had exhausted the other possibilities, it was time…for THE CRAWLSPACE!

Needless to say, it was cramped under there. I had to belly crawl around and I methodically swept the area with my detector. Turning around was nearly impossible, and I was hoping to end this hunt quick! Luckily, after some time, SUCCESS! The ring was found and I quickly escaped the creepycrawlers! After celebrating with the owners, I hastily drove home for a « Silkwood shower »!

Lost ring at Ocean Beach found

Marcio was at Ocean Beach with his wife and child having a nice day in the sun when the outlook changed. He had been building sand castles, washed the sand off the toys in the surf, and went in for a short dip. After all this fun, he realized his wedding ring was missing. He does an online search and contacted me for help. Even though the tide was coming in and approaching the evening high, I agreed to meet them and get an idea of where the ring may have been lost, do a preliminary search, and maybe get lucky with a quick recovery. Oh well, that wasn’t to be. I searched all the dry sand around where they were camped out for the day and also hit the slope heading down to the water. The tide and surf was up on this steep section of beach and had a nasty shore break, so, a water search at this time would have been pointless. I told Marcio that I would return in the early morning hours to take advantage of the minus low tide at that time. Fast forward to 12:30am when I arrived at the beach. I started a grid from dry sand to knee deep water, and at 1:10am got the signal I was waiting for. I texted Marcio with the good news and connected with him later that day for the return. Great to meet you folks and thank you for the reward.

Diamond platinum engagement ring found in Warwickshire village!

I was contacted while on holiday by the husband of a lady who lost her ring while feeding her chickens.

The husband was quite upset as was she and there was talk of lots of hassles with the insurance company.

I was convinced it would still be there unless the chickens stole the ring!

After an extensive search of the garden and repeated searches in the shed, I found the ring in a sack of hay!

Very happy all round!

I received an email about a lost Gold Diamond Ring that has been lost since this spring.  She lost the ring as she was laying down straw after spreading grass seed. She searched and was unable to find the ring. I started my search where she found her wedding band, that also fell off. I search and search and there was the ring hiding under the straw in the new grown grass. She was very happy to have the ring returned to her.

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring Found and Returned in Irwindale

I got a call the day before yesterday and talked to Stephanie, who had lost her diamond engagement ring about a week ago in her backyard. She put her ring on top of the windowsill and the kids were running in and out of the sliding glass door. When she shut the door to stop the kids from running, the door shattered and glass was everywhere, and the ring fell off. As she was cleaning up the glass, she realized the ring was gone and got ahold of me through RingFinders. I went out yesterday and metal detected but there was a lot of trash in the grass, like bottles and caps so it was hard to find a signal. I looked for about two hours. Before I gave up, I checked the windowsill where I didn’t get any signals with the metal detector. I started to rake out the grass and dirt in that area, and shoveled that material onto a sifting screen and that’s when I found the ring. She was ecstatic to get her diamond ring back.

Hi Chris,
I know you must be a busy person and probably get lots of emails but I hope you take the time to read this one.
I am writing you to thank you for starting « The ring finders »! Well I really can’t thank you enough! Last weekend I had the privilege of working with someone in your organization and I would like to share my experience with you and pretty much anyone else that will listen!
Last Saturday My husband, 2 children and I went to a family members house that lives on lakefront property. I have a 6 year old son and 2 year old daughter. Neither of them can swim and I didn’t anticipate getting in the water. We were just going down for the fireworks and I thought we may have time for a boat ride. However, there were other family members there along with their children and they did get into the water. The other children were running and jumping into the lake when all of a sudden my son (I assume was trying to fit in with the older kids) ran and jumped in as well! Like I said, I was not planning on getting in the water so I was still fully clothed with my jewelry & everything when my son jumped in. I instantly jumped in after him and when I was making my way to my son, I felt my wedding ring slide off the tip of my finger but I kept going because I had to save my son!
After I did get my son, I cried hysterically to my husband about my ring and he had everyone get out of the water in hopes that he could find it since I had a pretty good idea of where I was when it came off. I was in about 5 foot of water and it was a very murky lake with mud, rocks & seashells all along the bottom. My husband looked until the sun went down while I looked after our kids but he had no luck. We cried the whole way home that night and basically told each other we knew it was hopeless to look for it but we couldn’t live knowing we didn’t try everything we could to find it.
This ring meant more to me than any other possession I’ve ever owned! My husband had purchased it before we had children and there was no way we could have financially replaced it living paycheck to paycheck like we do now. My husband told me that night he was heart broken that I didn’t have a ring to wear anymore. I felt so guilty for losing it though, I didn’t even feel I deserved a ring! It was more than just a financial thing though! That was my wedding ring! It was a ring my husband had created and designed all himself, it was the ring he purposed to me with, the one he exchanged vows to me with and I never took it off. The thought of living without it was absolutely devastating! I was physically ill over it and it was the worst day of my life!
My husband decided to go back down to the lake in the morning with an under water metal detector he was able to borrow from his grandpa. I had to stay behind with our kids and I felt so helpless! All I had done was cry and pray! I had never prayed so much in my life!
As I sat and cried I thought I could do some research online & maybe some how help. I am the type of person that googles everything! I remember thinking how stupid it was to google « how to find a ring in a lake » because it was impossible! To my surprise I came across videos of you doing just that! I was then desperate to find you so I went to your website and then realized there were ring finders all over the world. I was able to find Paul Miederhoff in Cape Girardeau Mo! It was 8:00 in the morning on a Sunday though. My husband then called me and said he couldnt get his metal detector working so i panicked and called Mr. Miederhoff! To my suprise he answered his phone at 8 in the morning on a Sunday. I told him what happened and he dropped everything he had planned that day immediately and drove 100 miles on a holiday weekend which also happened to be his wedding anniversary and jumped in a lake to look for my ring! I couldn’t believe someone would do that for me, a complete stranger! I had called him at 8 AM and he was in the lake by noon! He told me he would find my ring and to be honest I didn’t think it was possible but I figured we had to try! Within 30 minutes of being in the lake, he did in fact find it! I couldn’t believe it! I was so happy, I fell to the floor crying! I am incredibly grateful to you for starting this organization and to Paul for what he did! I had no clue there was anyone that offered this type of service. When I prayed to find my ring, I didn’t realize God would literally send me an angel to answer my prayers! That’s the only explanation I have! I’ve never met anyone so selfless and caring, Paul must really be an angel! I will be eternally grateful to him for what he did and I just had to share my story with you as I can’t sing his praises enough! There really are no words for what he did for me! I don’t know if there is anything I can do for you or him but I would love to write a review or testimonial or anything else I can do! I just can’t say enough great things about him! Not only did he give me back my most priceless possession but just the fact that he dropped everything and came to my rescue like some kind of super hero! I’m still in amazement! I have taken over a week to write this email just because I can’t find the words to express my gratitude! To be honest, I don’t know if I could have went on with my day to day life and functioned without my ring, I feel like when he found my ring, he also kept me from going down into a dark depression! Well I hope you have read this whole email and see how Paul was able to represent you and your company! I truly believe he is an angel that was sent to answer my prayers and I can’t thank you both enough! Please let me know if there is any way in the future that I can recommend your services or just share my experience with others.

Lost Diamond and Platinum Ring in Zuma Beach Found in Rocks and Returned

I was metal detecting on Sunday morning with a friend at Huntington Beach at about 5:00 in the morning and took a break at 11:00 to get a snack. I saw that I had a few missed calls, so I checked my voice mails and called back. Veronica answered the phone, and told me that her mom Anna, had lost her diamond ring the day before at Nicholas Beach, about 80 miles away just north of Zuma Beach. Five minutes later, I was on my way. Once I got off the 10 freeway in Santa Monica over an hour later, I hit Pacific Coast Highway. Sunday beach traffic was quite challenging. An hour later I met up with Veronica. I followed her down to the beach and met Anna and her husband. What a nice couple! They showed me where they put the ring into a chair pocket the day before, and thought it was lost in that area in the sand. I worked the grid pattern and worked with the detector down to the water’s edge, but no signals. I hoped that the previous night’s high tide hadn’t bur  ied the ring or swept it out to sea. I asked Anna to retrace her steps when she left in a hurry because the high tide was coming in and covered most of the beach with waves. I worked the detector in between the rocks and got some large iron signals. Then I went over her husband’s matching ring to see the sound it was creating. I detected a few more minutes between the beach and the stairs and I got a crisp, loud signal. I said, « this sounds promising! » The next thing I knew, the ring was in my scoop. I handed it to her husband and he handed it to Anna, who was overwhelmed with joy. They had been happily married over 20 years and her ring was custom made, so it was extremely sentimental. It was a 3 hour drive home in Sunday beach traffic, but the looks of happiness and gratitude on their faces made it all worthwhile. It was a pleasure to help such a great family.

Beautiful Engagement Ring Found!

Today I received an urgent request from Melody, who lost her engagement ring over the weekend. Luckily I was able to rush out to look as soon as we spoke. Me and the dog hit the road!

Me and the treasure dog, Cyril, teamed up to search. He seemed more interested in eating grass and rolling around in smelly stuff than looking for diamonds, but I still consider him my lucky charm. After a short hunt… SUCCESS!!!

Melody did the right thing by reaching out for my help promptly, after searching… with no success, for her beautiful platinum and diamond ring. She provided me with the details that my detector and I needed to quickly find her ring in a highly trafficked area, where it could have been « lost » forever if someone found it before us. Time is of the essence when it comes to recovering lost jewelry!

Not every search is a success, so it was great confidence booster to happily reunite Melody with this important, beautiful ring! And Cyril couldn’t care less!

Lost Wedding Ring… Found in Lone Tree Iowa

I was contacted by the husband of a lady who lost her ring after mowing her yard. She was dumping the grass clippings from here bagger and got caught in the rain. He said she was shaking her hands trying to get the grass and water off and her ring came off too.

He said a friend of his had some cheap metal detectors and they were going to search for it but wondered if I would be available if they didn’t find it. I said yes I was on vacation all week after the 4th of July. So I got the call that they didn’t find it. I went yesterday on the 6th and was able to find it.

Here is what his wife wrote me along with her picture for the book of smiles.

Hi Norm, This is Molly. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for finding my ring. You have no idea how much relief it brought me. I am beyond thrilled and very impressed I have to say after searching that area many times on our hands and knees, as well as going over it with 2 metal detectors. I had little faith that you would find anything.  You have a gift, and we hope you are blessed ten fold.

Diamond Engagment Ring Lost in Laguna Beach, Recovered in Sand

On Thursday late afternoon I got a call from a woman named Lauren who lost her ring on Monday in South Laguna Beach who was spending time with her family by the fire pits. Because it was a few days later, she did not think there was a chance that her diamond engagement ring could be found. She asked me if there was any chance, and I told her there was always a chance.   I drove down to the beach at around 4:30 am to get there early, so that the tides would be right and not too high up on the beach. I swung my coil a few times and after digging a few nails near the fire pits, I heard a solid signal, dug it up, and there was her beautiful diamond ring. Lauren and her family got to the beach about half an hour later and she was ecstatic to see that I had actually found her ring. She thought it’d be like finding a needle in a haystack since the surf from the previous days had covered the fire pits where she had lost her ring. She hugged her husband and kids and was very happy to be reunited with her ring. Shortly after I was back on the road, hoping to beat traffic to head to work.
