Diamond Engagement Ring Lost In Altadena, CA…Found and Returned.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

Nathan called this morning needing help with his wife’s lost engagement ring. She had been playing with her dog, and throwing the ball to be retrieved, when with one throw both her engagement ring and wedding band flew off of her hand. Nathan said he heard the ring hit their car which was parked nearby. They proceeded to look in the area, when they found her wedding band in a bush near where the car was parked in the neighbor’s yard. They continued the search in and around where the wedding band was found, but with no success. His wife rented a metal detector the next day and proceeded to search again, Nathan then took up the search with the metal detector when he got home. He told me he could not believe all the metal that was in the yard, which was making the search harder for him with the rented detector. He said he put at least 20 hours of searching for the ring himself not to mention the time his wife and neighbors put in helping. He told me the grass was very high in the neighbor’s yard, and he suspected it was lost in the thick grass somewhere. He also said that the gardeners were scheduled to come today and mow the yard, so I knew I should hurry in order to beat them to the high grass, and arranged to leave immediately. Nathan was at work, so he was unable to meet me there, but gave me directions and photos to show where things had taken place.

I had a few delays on the way with some traffic and an accident, but finally got there at what I thought was a decent time. When I pulled up though, the gardeners were already there, and had mowed the yard, could they have already found it? My heart sank. I called Nathan to let him know, and he told me that he would come over at his lunch hour. This was a good thing, as I would be able to ask exactly what had happened. I searched the areas that he had pointed out to me, and finally searched the whole yard. I should have heard the ring, but nothing but some foil and pull tabs. Nathan showed up at lunch, and we went over what had happened. There was a definite trajectory of her throw that he showed me, so I concentrated in those areas that would possibly be affected; nothing again. I got out another detector that has a faster recovery, figuring that the ring could be getting masked by some iron in the ground, and began my search again. Nathan was helping with more possibilities, but nothing. I decided to search the yard again, and Nathan had to go back to work. I searched the yard again with no ring. I then decided that I could not remain in the box, so I stood in the line of trajectory, and backed up. I kept backing up, onto the neighbor’s porch, surely it would have been seen there. As I was standing there I looked left, the porch dropped off to the ground and there was a 6 tp 7 inch gap between the porch and the house about a foot deep. I saw something silver and round, but thought I was looking at half a buried pull tab. Upon closer inspection, it was the ring. There it was another 50 feet from where the wedding band had been found. Nathan’s wife must have thrown that ball with a Kershaw type of pitch, because it was a total of about 70 feet from where she had been standing. I sent Nathan a picture of the ring, asking if this was what it looked like, when he immediately called, and said he would come back in about 45 minutes. I told him I would wait. Needless to say he was very happy. I know that he and his wife will sleep well tonight, that’s what it is all about.

The family is from Las Vegas, Nevada and they went to the beach to take some family photos. While there David’s daughter Emma lost here silver ring he gave to her years ago in the dry sand. • from Miami (Florida, United States)

How do you find a lost ring at the beach, whether you lost it in the sand or in the ocean, start by calling me, Louis at 305-608-1870.  I can help you find your lost ring or any other type of jewelry.  I can take my detector in the ocean !!!!  Take a look at some of the pictures below and my other blogs and posts of some other successful recoveries.  Before you call me please take a look around and try to remember where you lost your ring.  Look for objects such as lifeguard stands, beach chairs, or buildings.  Use these as points of reference.   After,  try to put a marker in the dry sand a few feet away from where you lost it just incase you have to leave the area.  PLEASE don’t tell anyone that you lost it because they might try to find it and keep it.  The faster you call me the faster I can return it to you…. So don’t wait.

Alex and Anne Norton both excited after I found his grandmothers ring that he gave to Anne as an engagement ring. Found about 50 ft out in the water

Man’s 14K Wedding Band Lost, Recovered and Returned Ocean Isle Beach NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

Got a call this morning from Jimmy asking if I could help find his lost wedding band. His wife Crystal had googled “Lost Ring Ocean Isle” and up popped The Ring Finders website which lead to finding me. Jimmy told me he and his family were on vacation from Virginia. He went on to say that he lost the ring in about thigh high water yesterday while throwing a ball back and forth with his son Caleb. We agreed to meet in about an hour and I was on my way.

When I got to the beach Jimmy, Crystal and Caleb met me at the beach access. On the way out to the beach I got a few more details and then Caleb walked us out to the area his dad was at when the ring slipped off his finger. The big question was whether Jimmy was right or left handed and did the ring slip off his finger or get slung off as he threw the ball. Luckily he’s right handed so it made for an easier search. I did a north/south grid line at the low tide line first knowing it probably wasn’t there but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity just in case. I then moved up the beach at the high tide line because people were starting to show up and I didn’t want to miss that opportunity either. After a few search lines I moved to an east/west search grid and after about 5 or 6 lines I hit it. Jimmy’s son was close and saw me hold up my hand towards Jimmy and came running over. He checked the inscription to confirm it was his dad’s ring and we had a match.

Jimmy was extremely happy he had his ring back to continue the 24 year story it held. Hugs and handshakes all around.

Jimmy and Crystal thank you so much for trusting in me to help find your lost treasure. Caleb, thank you buddy for putting me in the right area and best of luck on your new career, I think you’re going to do great!! Enjoy the rest of your vacation and have a safe trip home.

14K Man’s Wedding Band Lost and Recovered in Cherry Grove, SC. Returned to Owner in Indiana

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

On Sunday, July 16th I got a heartfelt e-mail from Sarah W. wondering if I had found a Man’s 14K wedding band in the Cherry Grove area of North Myrtle Beach SC that had been lost the previous Thursday night, July 13th. I wrote back that I hadn’t and asked her for some details, time it was lost and where her husband Eric was in relation to the beach (dry or wet sand or in the water). We went back and forth with numerous e-mails including google satellite maps with areas of the beach highlighted. Every ring call is very very special in its own way but occasionally you get one that tugs at your heart strings for whatever reason. When she wrote saying that her husband’s original ring was getting too big for him so she had bought him this new one and gave it to him on his birthday last month, she had me. We ended our e-mails with me telling her that “I can’t promise miracles but I do promise you I’ll give it my best shot”. A few hours later I was on the beach working from the dry sand to the mid-tide area that was highlighted on the google map going outside the area on all four sides. After a little over 3 hours and finding very little I called it a night knowing I was going back out first chance I had. I had sent Sarah an e-mail saying I hadn’t had any luck not letting her know I was planning on going back out. Monday morning I got an e-mail from her thanking me for looking and offering gratuity for time and gas. I wrote back telling her thanks but it was my pleasure and that I was planning on going back out.

Fast forward to Tuesday morning, I woke up early so I could be out on the beach working the outgoing tide to low tide. Another 3 hours plus and again I’m not finding very much of anything after going from thigh deep at low tide to the high tide line doing both north/south and east/west grids. By now I’ve got about 40 yards of beach left to search, the crowds are starting to show up taking some of my search area away and really no place else to search. BANG, I get a booming signal on my stand-in Gold Quest machine. Dug a scoop and flipped it out on the sand and there it was, I was 99% sure I had the right ring. Sarah had told me about the very special inscription she had put on the inside of the ring but I didn’t have my glasses and there was no way I could read what it said. I walked down the beach to a small pool of water and washed the ring off. I then walked up to a much younger man playing with his son and asked him if he could tell me what the inscription said giving him the first 2 words, he read the rest and I had it.

I had already played it over in my head on how I was going to tell Sarah I found it. So, I sent her an e-mail saying my e-mail was acting up and if she’d call me or give me a number to call her because I had a couple more questions. When she called I gave her a little pity story about how I’d been searching, blah, blah, blah and then I said I’ve got a couple of questions to ask 1-what is your husband’s name and 2-what address do I send his ring back to? She caught on instantly “you found it?”, and tears of joy rang out. I got it in the mail today and it’s on his way home!! A little later in the afternoon she sent me the following text that put a smile on my face – “And you said you couldn’t promise a miracle!”

I got a text message today, Friday from Sarah that she had received the ring and giving me another big Thank you. Mission Complete!!!

Sarah and Eric thank you for trusting in me to help find your lost treasure. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.

Lost Wedding Ring Found! – Lake Geneva, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

A football toss in the deep end of the swimming area near Big Foot Beach State Park on Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, proved fatal for Josh Johnson’s titanium wedding ring. He felt it leave his hand but was helpless to grab it before it slipped beneath the lake’s surface. The water’s visibility was poor which made recovery next to impossible. A resident of Chicago, Josh had to leave for home the next day minus the ring on his finger. He despaired at the thought of it being lost forever. That’s when he discovered the ring finder’s directory of metal-detecting specialists online.

I received an email from Josh asking if I might do a search. Arriving at the location very early in the morning on the following Tuesday, I began a methodical search in the 5-foot deep swimming area. Just about an hour later, I heard the telltale pitch of titanium in my waterproof headphones. As the water filtered out of the sand scoop, Josh’s ring appeared as if greatly relieved to see the light of day once again.

When I arrived home, I carefully wrapped the ring in a padded envelope and mailed it on its way to one very relieved owner.

Mission accomplished! Josh, I’m so glad for the opportunity to find and return your ring. May its story continue for many years.

TESTIMONIAL

« Paul was a life saver! When I felt the ring come off my hand in the lake, I thought for sure it was gone forever. After my friends and I searched for over an hour as best we could in the sand below and came up empty, I had no hopes of ever finding my ring again. I count my lucky stars that I found Paul and within an hour after sending him an email, he had his plans in place to find my ring. In less than 24 hours, my ring was recovered and I breathed a huge sigh of relief! I live in Chicago, so Paul even went the extra mile to carefully ship my ring back to me, after traveling to Lake Geneva and gearing up to go underwater to help locate my missing ring. I can’t say enough how great this whole experience was…well, I mean…losing the ring in the first place wasn’t great, but Paul sure was! 🙂 Thanks again Paul!! »

Lost & Found Gold Ring, Durdle Door, Dorset

  • from Bournemouth (England, United Kingdom)
Contact:

Driving home from an unforgettable day at Durdle Door, ‘Nish’ from London reflected on the sad events that took place earlier that day.

Nish, like so many people had made the three and a half hour journey to Durdle Door to enjoy the picturesque bay and leave the City behind him. The coves were crowded and he managed to find a quiet spot just around the corner of the ‘Door’ where the sea was calm and the sea bed  easily seen from the clear waters.

Standing in the sea alone Nish casually gazed down at his hands only to his horror to notice the absence of a very important Gold Ring. After searching for some time he realized.. it was lost.

The rest of the day was marred by his loss. People still carried on with their day, swimming, laughing and having fun, For Nish, the fun was over and filled with a sense of loss he began his long long journey home. Nearly an hour into the journey home he pulled the car over with an idea! Try the Internet, ask Google?!

Right away The Ring Finders came up together with my name. We made contact and he sped back to Durdle Door to meet me, time is precious especially when rings are lost in soft sands or shifting pebbles.

We searched for an hour. Nothing. I was losing hope. I quizzed his every move, what he did, « where were you », « was the ring still on when you stood here etc »? Suddenly, just by the waters edge the CTX let out the distinctive hum of gold. The numbers practically jumped out shouting GOLD!! Absolutely certain it was our ring and having caught a glimpse of it I said, « dont get your hopes up, its probably just a penny »! The look on his face when from the sand in my hand the ring appeared was priceless! The huge hug he gave me said it all and I am always so pleased to be a part of ring recoveries, whoever, wherever, whenever!

It was a pleasure to have met Nish and I am very happy that Nish made a kind donation to help the animals at the Margret Green Animal Sanctuary.

Ring recovered from Big Crooked Lake, Dowagiac, Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

The Ring Finders have a great network of detectors. Dave Boyer received a call from John B. about his wife, Elizabeth, loosing her wedding rings. Dave was not available so he called me and asked if I could help out this couple. John and Elizabeth are from the Chicago area and are staying in a cottage, on Big Crooked lake, with their family for a couple weeks. During the beginning of their stay Elizabeth was in the water at just above waist depth, as she turned around in the water with her hands down in the water her engagement and wedding ring (welded together) slipped off her finger. She was devastated and spent the last few days sifting through the water before they discovered the Ring Finders on Google.

I called John immediately after hearing from Dave and set up a time this morning to come out to the cottage. After introductions I put my swimsuit on and entered the water. The lake was clear with sandy bottom. as I walked out to waist deep water I got a good signal and pulled up a spoon, moving a little deeper to chest height I noticed it was getting deeper with a sharp drop off, that is when I hoped that I would get a signal soon, I did and it was a good ring sound but found it a little deeper than it should have been. I looked in my scoop and there was a beautiful sight I put it in my pouch and headed back to shore while detecting another signal it was a pull tab. I proceeded to shore and asked John if he wanted a spoon, a pull tab or a ring? In his amazement he yelled up the stairs to Elizabeth « he found it »! I wish I could capture the expressions on the faces of my people when the ring is recovered, they are priceless.

Everyone including Grandma can now enjoy the rest of their stay in Pure Michigan. A great shout out to the RING FINDERS network.

Lost Wedding Ring Was Found In Ocean City NJ

  • from North Wildwood (New Jersey, United States)

Dave posted this on his facebook page!

I lost my wedding ring in the Atlantic Ocean this afternoon at 1:45pm.

Unfortunately, Donna asked if I wanted her to hold it for me on the walk down and I said something to the effect of, « Nah. It’s not going to fall off. »

So about 2 minutes in the water and it falls off. I never felt that attached to it other than it being my wedding ring. Until I lost it and I felt terrible. Maybe some of that was the feeling that Donna somehow knew that it was going to happen. We looked for awhile but there was no way we were finding it. Every bump on the floor turned out to be a rock or shell. I paced around for a little bit and then decided just to go home. Then I wondered if there was a site I could post a photo of my ring just in case someone ever found it.

That’s when I stumbled on theringfinders.com. I sent a message on Facebook (2:45pm) and about 5 minutes later, John Favano sent me his phone number to give him a call. At 3:07pm (just checked my phone log) we briefly talked. So now, I was waiting on a guy that may or may not show up and may or may not find a wedding ring in THE Atlantic Ocean if and when he got here. Then, my phone rings, John says that he is at the beach and to come meet him. We are off to a good start all things considered.

All week, we were talking about how small the beach has become over the years but walking over the dune I never remember it seeming so big. There was no chance we were finding it. At least when it is lost for good, I will have the satisfaction that I at least I tried everything I could think of. Donna and I are at the beach with John pointing out where I am pretty sure I lost it. Thanks to the dude that made sand dolphins btw.

John is walking a grid from the beach all the way into the water about chest deep. From the beach into the water…back to the beach and then back into the water. He stopped to dig a few times but nothing. Then he looks up and asks me what my ring looks like. This dude found my ring less than 4 hours after it fell off.

That is unbelievable!                                                                                 Call John Favano!

Ring found and returned at Carlsbad State Beach

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

If the sun lotion scenario is the #1 reason for losing a ring at the beach, this is probably #2. It’s the « I took the ring off and put into the chair pocket, forgot it was there, folded chair and packed everything up when we were ready to leave, drove away and then remembered the ring scenario ». Marcus didn’t get far….just out of the parking lot when he realized what he had done. He returned and searched to no avail. Out came the phone and a Google search. He found my ad on Craig’s list and gave me a call. I told him I would be there within the hour and met him at the location. We walked over the the spot where they had the chairs laid out (the most likely spot of the loss) and I started my grid. Maybe 30 seconds later, I get the sound I wanted to hear on my E-trac and scooped out his ring. A happy Marcus gets to go home, tell the wife, and not have to share the accommodations with the dog. A pleasure meeting you Marcus and thank you for the reward.
