Husband loses wife’s sentimental ring! Found at Mauna Lani, Hawaii

2016-06-20 14.22.19

Ricky holding his wife’s lost – and now found – sentimental gold ring with large aquamarine stone. Mauna Lani, Big Island, Hawaii

« It won’t be there! »

Ricky called us a little sheepishly. His wife had specific instructions to put her ring in the hotel safe so it wouldn’t be lost…! The ring had been his wife’s mother’s ring and greatly sentimental. On the way to the room, he’d done just that – lost it – on the way from the pool to the vacation condo’s front door….

(This was the second call this week we’d had from spouses losing their partner’s rings!)

I met him, his wife and young granddaughters at the pool where his wife had handed Ricky her large gold and aquamarine ring. We retraced his steps from around the pool, across the private road and into the grassy walkway leading to the house. He’d realized halfway there that the ring was missing.

There were only a few movements where Ricky had used both hands on his trip to the condo. As we retraced his steps I took careful note.  He’d stopped at his car and only a few steps into the grass, realized the ring was missing.

A small assortment of lost items from the grass – including the lost gold ring with aquamarine – at Mauna Lani, Big Island, Hawaii

After about 30 minutes of carefully looking along his route, I was ready to try somewhere else. On a hunch, I walked up near the front door and looked back at the yard towards his car. « I didn’t go anywhere near there, » Ricky said as he walked back towards the car. « I didn’t get that far as I realized I’d lost it over here. » I looked down and scanned the grass to the side of a palm tree. Peeking out from the green grass was a small glint of gold. Sure enough, the ring was there, much to the joy and amazement of Ricky.

Lost Wedding Ring Found at a Public Beach in Vermont

I got an email last night from a lady who was swimming with her grand kids at a large beach 3 days ago when she lost her wedding and engagement ring. She and her husband had gone back a couple times and spent many hours looking for it. They had even gotten the help of a local metal detectorist who had some very nice equipment. But, the ring was not giving up easily on it’s hiding game! She told me by phone approximately where she had been relaxing on the beach and wading and floating on a tube with her grand kid. So, this morning I got up early to go search, because the beach was an hour away, and there was going to be a huge crowd there today with the temperatures going near 90 degrees! I wanted to have the best chance before someone else might find it and keep it. I stopped at the park ranger’s cabin and she gave me an enthusiastic « yes » when I asked permission to search way before opening hours. About 20 seconds and 10 feet of searching went by and there was that great signal of gold! I pushed the pinpointer into the sand and it located the ring about 3 or 4 inches down. It was very well protected from sight!
I called her right up and she said she was about to come to the beach and show me where she had been and to help look for it. She was very shocked and happy to hear that I had found it already. I sure love making those calls! I love doing these rescue missions! I love the happy reunions!!

Mary and Gene were enjoying a campfire in their backyard until she lost her engagement ring and wedding band.  Frantic to locate the rings, Gene searched for hours on his hands and knees.  He was able to locate the engagement ring, but the wedding band couldn’t be found.  Gene even purchased a metal detector but returned it because he was inexperienced with its operation.  Mary searched the internet for help and located the Ring Finders website.  Gene contacted me and asked if I could search their backyard.  In less than a half hour, I located the wedding band in the grass.  It was a pleasure to help this nice young couple!

Rommel called me yesterday afternoon asking if I could help him find his key he buried in a park by a tree unfortunately he forgot which tree it was, For a minute I thought it was a joke but after asking  few questions why/where/when,  asked him why he had buried the key there and not at home and why was it important to have the key back he told me he was driving home from work one evening and thought the park would be safe place, also he made a box and had sentimental value and did not want to damage the box, I determined he was sincere and agreed to meet him at the park. Arrived at the park and meet Rommel he showed me the location and where he had been searching around the trees I must have checked about 15 trees and shrubs, As always asking more question.

After searching for 2 hrs and switching from AT-Pro to V3i with 4×6 coil received a good signal and there buried in about 6 inches of mulch was his key another happy client thank you Rommel for trusting me to find your key.

Lost Gold and Diamonds Wedding Band Set at Waimanalo Beach Park…FOUND!!!

It was 7:00 in the evening when I went to get my cellphone off the charger, I turned on the cell and had missed a call 40 minutes prior from Jonathan a local Wedding photographer. While setting up the final scene where he puts the couples two Wedding bands on a starfish in the sand a rogue wave washed way up on the shoreline and erased the scene. In utter shock Jonathan and his lovely assistant Imi immediately started searching for the scattered rings. Of course they were no where to be found. Jonathan then googled « lost ring » on his cellphone and that’s when he left a voicemail. I returned the call immediately but no one answered. After about 15 minutes Jonathan called back and said he was returning the unfortunate couple back to their hotel in Waikiki. I told him we had to look tonight as the next high tide could displace the ring forever. Waimanalo has a very steep shoreline and is difficult to detect in the water this time of year. We met at a local high school and drove back to Waimanalo Beach Park. It was pitch dark now and thankfully I remembered to bring my dive torch. Jonathan and Imi took me to the beach and the tide was out which made the search area dry and easier to hunt. There was a basket on the beach and we speculated others at the beach that knew the rings were lost tried sifting the sand for the rings. I marked the extreme ends of my grid and started the search. My first screaming target was a Great Basin Nevada State Park quarter. I continued on. The area was sterile clean white sand so the search was quiet. After about 5 minutes on the fourth leg I got another low and high tone signal. One scoop down there was the rose gold band. Another scoop down and there was the white gold band. Jonathan & Imi were ecstatic with joy. Can you imagine how they must have felt when they lost the couple’s rings. Imi immediately took some pics with her cellphone and texted them to the couple in Waikiki. This honeymoon was going to be very memorable. Aloha to Jonathan & Imi.

5 Golden Rings Lost in the Surf – Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

On Friday June 17th, I got an e-mail from Josh that said in part that he lost 5 rings in the ocean and wondered if there was any way I could help. We went back and forth via e-mail and I finally asked for his number. As I was calling him, I’m thinking – 5 rings, must have had them on a towel and flipped the towel or something along those lines. When he answered his phone the first question I asked was, “is this legit?” He assured me it was and said that he was wearing all 5 rings and was throwing a football back and forth with a friend in the surf – not a good thing. He went on to say the finger he was wearing his class ring on was swollen so he moved that ring to his pinky. A few catches later and the football knocks the ring into the surf. At that point Josh said he took the other 4 rings off and put them on a chain he had around his neck. Guess where the football hit next, yep broke the chain and all 4 rings hit the water and disappeared. He also said he was back home in Virginia and this happened the previous Saturday. He gave me the hotel and a real good idea of the location and said he lost them in knee deep water about 1pm. Looking at the tide tables for that day I saw that high tide was within an hour of him losing the rings – no problem, the rings should be pretty close to the high tide line. On my way to the beach, he sends me a text saying he remembered that they all got up early that morning for breakfast and were on the beach and he lost them about 10am. Ok now I’m farther down the beach and in the surf which always makes a find a little tougher depending on the waves and wind.

When I got there I scoped out the area and realized with me having a bad ankle, the size of the area and an incoming tide that I could definitely use some help. I called my friend, Jim to see what he was doing. At the time he was busy and said he wouldn’t be able to make it, 5 minutes later he called me back saying he needed a break and would be right there. I had already started a north/south grid working the surf line when he showed up. I drew a line in the sand at about the mid search area and he worked north and I worked south of the line. At some point I decided I’d start doing an east/west grid line and go from about waist deep in the water to close to the high tide line. My fourth line I got a great signal and dug out two rings (one stuck inside the other). Bingo I had found the right spot. I got Jim’s attention and he came up to help find the other 3 rings. Again I started with a north/south grid starting at my mid-point line I had made. Jim made a couple of passes around the spot and found 2 more rings and then about 10 minutes later found the 5th ring, which was the class ring, nine feet away from the spot of the other 4 rings. I sent Josh a picture of me wearing all 5 rings and he responded with OMG!

Got them all wrapped up and sent them home Friday and got a text from Josh today that he finally got them back.

Josh had to take 2 different pictures to show him with all 5 but the smile on his face says it all.

A big thanks to Jim Brouwer for his help once again.

Men’s wedding band recovered at South Haven beach, Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

I got a call from my fellow ring finder, Dave Boyer, who had family commitments and needed my help finding a ring. Cam B. has been vacationing at South Haven beach with his family. Cam and his wife Megan B. is vacationing with Megan’s mom Marcia from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and brother and sister in law. Cam is originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming and they now live in Arizona.  The beach and water is an uncommon site to them and while enjoying the Pure Michigan weather, Cam thought he should walk his ring back up to the cottage just off the beach. On the way back doing a slight jog he felt his wedding band fly off. He immediately mark the area after looking around in the soft blonde sand with no luck. Cam went back to the cottage and called a detector shop and the Ring Finders was recommended to him. After looking through the directory he found Dave Boyer. I got Cam’s number from Dave and gave him a call. One hour later I was down to the cottage and set up my detector and started a grid search. Cam’s young nephew, Avery, escorted me along the way he was rewarded with a dime from my first hit and a pop tab on my second hit and my third hit Cam got the reward of his beautiful silver wedding band. The family cheered and the ring was back on cam’s finger. Some people have a LIFE but my LIFE is finding rings. I want to give a shout out to the ring finders web master for getting us posted at the top of the lost ring sites.IMG_2421IMG_2423IMG_2420

Lost Gold Necklace and Diamond Pendant in Lake Conroe (found) by John Volek

Priceless Treasure pulled from the depths of Lake Conroe in Lake Conroe, Texas

06/19/2016

I received a call from Carlos regarding his lost necklace and pendant in the waters of  Lake Conroe. Carlos said while boating with friends this weekend, he had the misfortune of loosing a family heirloom (a gold chain with a gold and diamond pendant)

06/20/2016

Check out the video to see the set-up and recovery of Carlos’ necklace and pendant.

Although it’s not actually gold from the Atocha ship wreck, I thought this must be how it feels to find some really cool treasure pieces.

Lost Gold Cartier Wedding Band at Turtle Bay North Shore…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

TB 6-20a
TB 6-20b
Late Sunday night I got a call from Steve from Huntington Beach, California. While throwing a football in Turtle Bay lagoon his ring flew off. He wasn’t sure if it went forwards or backwards but marked his spot with a large stick in the sand on the beach. Forwards could have been 6 feet deep and backwards 3 feet deep. I told Steve we had to meet early Monday morning if we wanted a chance at finding his ring because many detectorists hit Turtle Bay regularly and early. I arranged to meet Steve at 6 am sharp. I brought my scuba gear just in case it was more then chest deep. When I got to the beach access parking I phoned Steve and he met me in the parking lot. We walked down to the beach and the tide was extremely low. Also thinking back when Steve lost the ring it was on an extreme high tide. Full moon in effect. I started about 5 yards to the left of center and started my grid search. On the third leg I got a loud tone but it was two quarters side by side. Continuing on about the fifth leg I got a screaming target in knee deep water. It took three scoops but there it was one of the most stunning designed Cartier rings I’ve seen. I asked Steve to tell me the design again and it was his ring. Steve told me he had only been married for 48 hours so the relief on his face was so very apparent. Another honeymoon ends well. Aloha to Steve.

Lost wedding ring returned in Kelowna BC

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

Sheri and her husband were working on their Low Maintenance, water saving yard. Throwing the large rocks around the area, her husband heard a ping and noticed his 14k white gold wedding band was missing, he stopped work and looked around for it. With no luck Sheri called her friend in Vancouver who gave her my phone number, and said give him a call, he will help you search for it with a metal detector. When she called, I told her that with a construction site, time is of the essence and I would be there the next day. With her husband at work, Sheri showed me the location they where working, and said she suspected that it had fallen down between the large rocks. I knew from past experience that the ping meant the ring had bounced away, so I started the search around the perimeter, Sheri convinced it was in the big rocks continued moving them away. After around 45 minutes of searching and still outside the rock pile I located the ring 30 feet away from the rock pile around the location that they were standing, this location was scheduled to be levelled off with a cat the next day. Sheri was delighted and called me a Superstar
