Platinum Wedding Band Lost at Venice Beach, CA…Found and Joyfully Returned to Florida.

Back on July 15th Joanna sent me a text asking for my help. She and her family had been down at Venice Beach 5 days prior, where her husband had removed his ring to apply sunscreen and laid it in the grass where they were sitting. When they got back to the hotel where they were staying he realized the ring was gone. They called some of the places back on the beach to see if someone could go and find it for them, with no luck. I told Joanna, that in such a public place, with so much time having gone by, that the chances of finding the ring had diminished considerably. I asked her to call me so I could ask her about the loss, when she told me that she and the family had already gone back to their home in Florida. I asked if she could help me narrow down the search area, and she sent me pictures of the place, and where they were sitting when her husband removed the ring; I knew right where the area was, and told her I would go and search the next day.

When I arrived at the spot it turned out to be rather small with good grass growth, so I was a bit hopeful. I began my search, and found numerous items, but all too deep to have been the ring, so I just kept searching. I then received a good shallow signal, and used my pinpointer to verify the signal, and found the ring. Needless to say I was very excited, it was a big solid platinum ring, and I could see the engraving that Joanna had told me about. I took the attached picture, and sent it to Joanna, saying « You’ll never believe what was still there after 6 days. » She wrote « Oh my God », and « I’m shaking », and I answered that I know, I almost did a dance right there in front of everyone.

She had worked and saved her money to buy that ring for her future husband, so the meaning behind it was deep. I sent it off to her, and when she received it she sent me the attached picture of her and the ring. What she thought was lost forever, was now safely back in their family. I am so happy to have helped them out, and honored that she trusted me, someone she had never met to do this search for her. I was definitely blessed to receive a picture like this with a great and happy smile. Joanna posted the story on Facebook, and it went viral. Lost iPhone in Sand .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found next Day

When Eva’s Celphone was lost in sand the night before her friends searched several hours, she called me the next morning. She had been visiting friends that live on the beach front in Newport Beach, CA. They have a game they play on the beach throwing weighted bags into boxes that have holes in them.
Latter in the evening she couldn’t find her iPhone. Attempts to find it that evening were not successful. Eva and her friends returned in the morning but they still couldn’t find it. They found me online at TheRingFinders.com. I was only 3 miles away, but it still took longer to find a parking space than it did to find the iPhone. It was found in the area they showed me, but probably 15 to 20 feet away from where the « Find My Phone » app showed them to look. I was careful to dig with my hands, as not to damage it trying to dig it with my scoop.
Some guys don’t like to search for phones or keys because often they are picked up by someone passing by. I usually try for anything unless too large of a search area. Example would be something lost on a 5 mile jogging work out.
As many times as I have found items of value for people, it was still a special moment to retrieve this phone for Eva. Everybody was impressed at how well a metal detector works to find something in the sand. They just don’t understand that it takes a quality detector and a lot of time to learn how to operate a metal detector. Lost Wedding Rings Found in Spokane Valley

The call: Sherrel had lost her two wedding rings while pulling weeds in her garden. It was 8:30 pm when she called me so I begged my Sweet wife to let me go to Sherrel’s house that night. I gave Sherrel a call back and told her my family and I were all coming over so I can find her rings as fast as she had lost them.

 

The Search: Arriving at the house at O’ dark thirty, I quickly geared up and put on my head lamp. I knocked on the door we said our hello’s then I was shown the garden where the loss took place. The garden was a ten by ten area including the grass which was  3/4 of the ten by ten area. So to eliminate the easiest space I gridded the grass. I got one signal at 4 inches and knew that her rings were not going to be that deep. The little garden was next on the list but it had a few unwanted metal guests. I and Sherrel’s husband removed the solar lights and the lawn ornaments. As I weaved through the foliage I heard a strong tone with a vdi of 23. Out came the Whites trx to help me search. I followed the beeps up into the middle of the bush. As I looked through the plant I saw not one but two golden rings nestled in the lilacs.

 

The Reaction: I am still a little new at finding people’s rings so I flipped out. I tried to snatch the rings from the bush so fast that I missed one of them. So I ran back to the bush and then back to Sherrel with the rings in hand screaming « guess what? » and « thank you Lord ». Of course all of this excitement from my end confused Sherrel and her husband so when I  said I had found the rings they didn’t believe me right way until they were safely back on Sherrels hand.

 

The Rings Story: These Rings needed to be back on Sherrels hand more than most I feel. See the rings had been on her hand for 40 years. Along with that provenance, they were made in Egypt. Sherrel’s husband was from Egypt and while she was working there they met. Sherrels husband had the finest Arminian jeweler in the land, hand make the plain band, and then had another stone placed in the solitaire ring that Sherrel had received from her work.

Quick recovery this evening. 4 Rings total, 1 White gold birthstone ring, 2 Platinum engagement / wedding bands, 1 Silver ring. They were on the beach 2+ days. Recovered to the relief of the bride.

KELOWNA LOST RING FOUND & RETURNED

Karen was playing ball with her granddaughter when she noticed her 14k gold ring was gone. The ring was promised to be given to the granddaughter, she spent one hour on her hands and knees in the grass searching for it, with no luck. She tearfully called me and I responded right away, I told her I would find it, in the grass and knowing the location would make it easy.  Within 10 minutes she had the ring back on her finger.

Wedding Band Recovered at Groton Long Point Beach, Groton CT

I received a call from a woman who lost a ring in the ocean while playing with her daughter. This particular ring was very special to this family. The ring was worn on her thumb in her late husband’s memory – retrieving this ring was critical. We picked a low tide, and I headed over to begin searching. About an hour and a half into the search, I heard a promising signal in chest-deep water. Bingo! I carried the ring back to the dry beach, where the family was reunited with a significant memory. They did a great job of using the reference points around them to identify where they thought they were standing when the ring slipped off! It was retrieved even after spending a couple of days in the ocean!

Lost Wedding Ring .. Strand Beach .. Dana Point, CA. .. Recovered

I was contacted by Jason who found me on line at TheRingFinders.com . Jason and his family had spent the day at Strand Beach which is located at Dana Point, CA. He placed his wedding band in the cup holder on his beach chair. They had picked up their chairs and walked a few hundred feet towards the car when Jason remembered the ring.
He went back to search for the ring. It had to be in the sand and could not be found by hand searching.  Jason did take a good look at the location which was a great help to me when I arrived with my metal detector.
The beach is a long walk down a steep stairway. The tide was coming in which caused us to navigate over large breakwater boulders to get to the area where they had spent the day.
Thanks to Jason for putting me on the exact location. It was a quick recovery. The ring was under about 3″ of wet sand right at the edge of the incoming tide. We had to walk about a quarter mile back to the car, but it didn’t seem that far as we talked about this service and the success of finding Jason’s ring that means so much to him..

Lost Ring On Lewes Beach In Delaware Found

On 06/16/2016, I was contacted by a gentleman regarding the loss of a Platinum wedding band belonging to his wife that had been lost in the sand on Lewes Beach. The gentleman indicated that his wife had been digging in the sand at the time that the ring was lost. The gentleman asked if I could assist in finding the lost ring, I told him that I would be at the location of the lost ring in about fifteen minutes. After arriving at Lewes Beach I made contact with the gentleman and he showed me the area on the beach where the ring was lost in the sand. I began a grid search of the area and on my second pass the ring was located, recovered and returned to its rightful owner. IMG_1560

Lost Ring FOUND in Kerrville area river!

On Thursday I received a call from Brad who asked if I was able to conduct water searches with a metal detector? He told me that on the July 4th weekend he had lost his gold wedding ring while playing with his kids in the Guadalupe River near Kerrville, Texas. Brad and I talked for a while about the circumstances of the loss and the river depth at the loss location. Brad told me he was in approximately waist deep in the river and had a good idea of the location of the loss. He said there were attempts to search for the ring to no avail. As Brad lives out of town we decided to meet on Saturday morning to search for the ring. Wow, I thought, my very first call out will be water search!

Saturday Morning:

My wife, Kathy, and I arrived at the site on the beautiful Guadalupe River.  This area of the river is lined with huge Cypress trees and typically has a river rock (1/2″ to 3″ rocks) bottom. Brad was already there with family members and he pointed out the area that he was wading in when he thought he lost his ring. I asked him about the water depth and said the target area extends to just above waist deep depth. I’m glad he wasn’t a basketball player as I am only 5’9″! He explained that he was in the water and the kids were playing on the floating dock. He also said that he had kept people out of the general area to help keep the water clear. Thank you Brad!

While waiting on my searching partner (my son Shane), Kathy and I got the Garrett AT Pro out along with my other gear. I entered the river about 30′ downstream of the dock proceed to sweep out towards the river center. The water was very cool but felt great as the ambient temperature was already reaching 90 degrees. Water visibility was cloudy and a touch to the bottom stirred up silt. Within 10 feet of bank and still only in knee deep water I got a nice indicator signal on my Garrett AT Pro. As Shane was not there yet I marked the spot with a 3′ piece of iron rebar so I could easily locate the spot again. I continued sweeping into deeper water when Shane arrived with his goggles and scoop. We ventured out as far as we could (chest deep), then turned and starting sweeping back to the bank. The river bottom was really clean of iron and we got another hit. With his goggles on Shane dove down into the bottom and retrieved a good scoop of gravel.  He sifted through it not finding anything.  A further slow sweep of the suspected target revealed no indications of hits so we moved on towards the bank.

When we got even with the location I marked with the rebar I told Shane « Let’s go ahead and explore this target that I marked earlier. » I again was able to acquire a a good signal and Shane when down again. This time when he came up he had the ring on his index finger! Brad and his family were standing on the bank watching and he yelled « You got it? » « Yes, we got it! » He ran down into the water and I handed him his (not) lost ring! His smile was big but I’m sure mine was just as big. EVERYONE WAS HAPPY!

Diamond Ring lost at Ocean Park Beach, Puerto Rico… Found and Returned

IMG_1766 IMG_1769While vacationing in Puerto Rico, Darren Webster and friends lost a Diamond Ring in the sand.

Not wanting to get in the water wearing the ring, Darren had is friend hold the ring for him. The « ring keeper » lost the ring in the sand!! After much searching Jeff Birchmore decided they needed help. Jeff found me through The Ring Finders and called me to the rescue.

It would take me two hours to get to Ocean Park, all the while Darren and friends waited anxiously. When I arrived Darren’s face lit up with hope that his ring would be found.

Darren described what had happened and what we were looking for. I briefly explained how metal detecting works and what I would be doing to find his ring.

So, I got to work with my AT Pro and Stealth Scoop. First finding a few bottle caps and pull tabs. But it wasn’t long before I got a good signal and BOOM, there it was, this beautiful gold and diamond ring! There were cheers all around us. I had found the ring in less than 10 minutes!
