I received a call from Jarred asking for help in finding his wife Allison’s wedding ring lost after taking it off to put on sunscreen. She had taken off two rings, and put them in her shorts pocket for safe keeping, but after getting up to go play volley ball with her friends, she realized they were gone. She and her husband, as well as her friends searched, and were able to find one of the rings, but the ring that was originally her grandmother’s was gone, I told them I would be able to get there as soon as I completed another search that I was currently on, and as soon as I was done I would let them know I was on my way.

I got the beach, and found Jarred and Allison. They showed me where Allison had been sitting, and where they found the other ring, so I began my search there, with no results. She then showed me the path she took to the volleyball court, and I slowly covered the area finding a couple of pieces of trash metal, and a dime. I then covered the court where she had played, and also the area where she had shagged some of the balls out of the court. I then worked back to the original area covering a different path. When we got back, Allison’s friends had moved all of the belongings so I could perform a more thorough search in the area. I worked back from where they had recovered the other ring, and at least 5 feet back from where she had been sitting I got a good signal, and recovered her ring. The whole group of her friends erupted with joy, and had me line up with them for a group shot. What a fun and happy eventful day!

I was on my way back from a week in the High Sierra about 15 miles from home from a 350 mile drive when I received a desperation call from Yvette who had lost her engagement ring in the sand at the beach. I asked if she could wait for me to get home, and I would immediately come and help her, she said she could wait. I got home, grabbed my equipment, and headed out, letting my wife and son start to unpack from the trip.

When I got to the beach Yvette, and her family met me, and showed me an area that they had marked out in the sand believing it was where the ring was lost. I could see mounds of sand where they had been working moving the sand around looking for the ring. We talked about what she was doing when the ring was lost, and it seemed very likely that they had been looking in the right vicinity, so I began my search there. I flattened the mounds to scan them thoroughly, covering the area completely, but no ring. I then began moving out, and on the edge of the area they had marked out, received a good signal, dug, and there was Yvette’s engagement ring. When I gave it to her there were tears of joy, and the excitement of all the family members. Her father then told me that it was her birthday as well; what a great day!

Lost wedding ring North Shore found

This ring find started out with a phone call in the evening from Simon. He asked if I would be able to go to the North Shore and search for his platinum Cartier wedding ring which he lost while swimming. I gathered all the details concerning the time he lost it so I could verify the tides and also try to get as much information to put me in the right area for a recovery. It was getting late and I had to put the kids to sleep and knew if this was going to be a success I needed to head down early. So, Early the next morning I took a drive out to Sharks cove And gathered all my gear and hike down to the cove. I was greeted at the shoreline by a mother and daughter which they ask am I looking for anything and I replied yes a young men’s wedding ring. They both looked at each other and said are you able to find it? I replied I’m going to give it my best and they both smiled as we departed. The area to search was quite large but I decided to give it my best shot and search the deepest areas first as it was low tide. I found countless amounts of pulltabs and aluminum. After dodging a bunch of snorkelers I get this really good tone. I secure the target and dig with my extreme scoop and low and behold there in my scoop is Simon‘s platinum wedding ring. As I look up above the waterline I notice two swimmers swimming to me and those were the two that I met at the shoreline. As we gathered closer I was able to show them the wedding ring that was once lost is now found. They both underwater seen the ring in my hand as I held it out to them with a thumbs up… and they both screamed and stood up and said you found it! We all were excited and happy to know that there was a happy ending with this incident. The drive home was not least burdensome. I got to call Simon with the Good news and left him a message. Simon called me back and we were able to meet up at their hotel in Waikiki. The reunion of the ring to the owner was nothing short of a miracle and smiles that expressed gratitude. Well, I’m Happy to help recover this beautiful ring and Simon enjoy your time here in Hawaii.

2 Lost White Gold Ladies Rings Found In Lapeer Michigan

Newly married and at a engagement party for their friends, Logan’s wife lost her rings. After a few days and borrowing a metal detector they had no luck in locating them. Meeting this morning we discussed the path she was on and even tho it was dark out, he thought he remembered the general area. The neighbors had opened their pool and she had been in it and travelled back towards the house. Starting at the pool I grid searched a wide path going towards the house with my MXT metal detector. A few deep iron targets sounded off but after a few minutes I got a nice signal close to the surface. Probing with my pin-pointer thru the thick grass I got a signal. Reaching thru the grass and clover revealed the larger of the 2 rings! Leaving the ring in place for reference, I searched thru the grass and clover and about 2 inches away was the thinner ring! Logan couldn’t believe that they were found after searching the same area with the borrowed metal detector. Totally thrilled we both agreed that this was a great thing, and that the party ended on a good note!

**** George and Sarah had been at Crystal Cove State Beach which is located in the city of Newport Beach, CA. They had met friends that evening for dinner and a few drinks at the Beachcomber Resturant. They took a walk on the beach after dinner. George had made a gesture with his hand and his loose-fitting wedding band flew off his finger into the dry sand.

Six people spent most of an hour searching the sand in the dark with no results. Then one of them did a google search that gave turned up my contact information on the ring finders website.

It’s less than a five mile drive for me so we met shortly after talking on the phone. This would have been nearly impossible without the benefit of cellphones and google search.

The other members of the group went back to the bar to enjoy their adult beverages. Sarah and George walked me to the location and we had the ring minutes after I turned on my metal detector. Part of their evening was disrupted but they were still able to enjoy the rest of the evening with their friends. 

I know we could have found the ring the next day. It would have involved a separate 40 mile trip for Sarah or George plus a whole night of worrying about the loss of a very sentimental keepsake. Some people have jobs or obligations that prevent them from meeting up to show me the general locations. Many times I’ll ask for a Google map screen shot or a Google map pin marker to get me to the general location when they are unable to meet me.

White Gold Engagement Ring Lost in the Ocean Day after Proposal, Sullivan’s Island SC

This morning, Wednesday, about 11am, I got a text “Good afternoon. Is this Jim Wren with Ring Finders?” I responded with “Yes.” She came back saying “My name is Mallory, my fiancé Nick proposed on Monday. Yesterday at around 8PM (the day after I got engaged) I got into the ocean at Sullivan’s Island. The tide took my engagement ring right off my finger. I am absolutely devastated…is there anything that could be done?”I called her and got more details. They were here on a little vacation from Chicago after they both graduated from Law School. With the loss of her ring and another issue going on, she wasn’t having a good vacation. I checked the tide tables and low tide on Sullivan’s Island was roughly at 2:30pm and with a 2 ½ hour drive, I could be there about 30 minutes before low tide. I know there are a couple of guys who are Ring Finders around Charleston, but when I’ve called in the past they weren’t available. So, instead of giving Mallory the run around trying to find somebody, and with time being a major factor, I just grabbed my gear and headed south.

When I got there, Mallory and Nick had a parking spot reserved for me. As we walked out on the beach, Nick showed me the area, which was larger than I thought. It was an area about the size of a football field. Luckily, Nick had found a plank on the beach and had used it to mark the spot where they came out of the water after the ring came off. On Tuesday, Mallory was in waist deep water about an hour after high tide. I started a north/south grid line parallel to the high tide line working towards the water line. After about 6 grid lines, I changed directions, and ran the grid line east/west perpendicular to the beach. On my second grid line pass the mid-tide line on the slope, I got a solid 8/9 on the Equinox 800 VDI screen, which is what I was looking for. It was further down the slope than I thought it would be, as well as deeper in the sand than I thought after less than 24 hours. After I got it out of the sand, I had to verify I had the right ring against the picture Mallory had sent. Boom, Perfect match!! I knew Nick and Mallory were watching, so I just held my arm up. Nick saw it first and came running, Mallory wasn’t too far behind him. Big smiles and hugs. Total search time was about 35-40 minutes.

*** Adam lost his platinum wedding ring in the sand when he brushed sand off his leg. It happened while he was on a family outing at Aliso Beach a Orange County California beach park .

He contacted me the next morning after finding me on The Ring Finders website. The good news was he felt it come off. The bad news is this is a small beach and there is a chance it could have been found. Aliso Beach is normally a 20 minute drive for me. I was ready to drive to the location but Adam wanted to be there when I did the search. He could me later that afternoon. Even though it made me nervous to wait 8 more hours, I knew the search had a better chance of success if Adam was able to get me in the general location.

Adam took advantage of the moment by bringing his wife and child to the beach so the could have another sunset outing at the beach. We met where he could show me exactly where the incident happened. It was a small sand area next to breakwater rocks. Trying to stay positive, I tried not to think the ring did not go into the rocks. I took a few seconds to explain to Adam how my metal detector works. After that, We were lucky that the ring was found shortly after starting the grid search. I was a surprised that I didn’t get a strong signal. Possibly the ring was on edge or near an other type metal. What is most important, is Adam has his wedding ring back where it belongs and he and his family enjoyed another sunset on the beach. I did have to use a photo of me because Adam is camera shy.

Wedding Celebration Contributes to Lost Wedding Band in the Ocean 8 hours after saying “I Do”

On Sunday afternoon, I received my second call of the day for a lost ring.  This one had been lost in the very early hours of Sunday morning on Ocean Isle Beach, NC. The call came from Jim, the groom. He said that he had lost his wedding band in the ocean after an evening of celebrating his and he’s new bride, Marie’s 6 pm wedding. At exactly the same time, I was talking with Jim, I was getting a text from Cindi, Jim’s mother. She had done the research and found me through The Ring Finders web site. She had sent my information to her son, and both of them were trying to contact me. At some point Jim passed the phone to Marie’s dad, Jim, and I learned that Jim had lost his ring in waist deep water at 2 am. A quick check of the tide table showed low tide was about 10:30 pm Saturday night, so I’m thinking this might be a tough search. I advised one of the Jim’s and Cindi that I had another ring search at 6 pm and that I’d be there as soon as I got finished with the other search, which was probably going to be about 8 pm with travel time.

I got to Ocean Isle about 7:45pm and met Jim (father), Marie and Jim (bride and groom), and a few of their friends. To help as much as possible with my search, I needed to get a consensus, from everyone that was there when he lost the ring. I needed to know the time, the location, and how deep Jim was. I started my grid search parallel to the beach, trying to work the outgoing tide. Within a couple of hours, it was pitch black on the beach and both the wind and waves had picked up to the point I wasn’t comfortable out there by myself. So, I called it a night and called Marie telling her I and a buddy would be back out around 9:30am the next day.

At some point I had called Jim Brouwer, a good friend that has helped me in the past, to see if he was interested in giving me a hand on this one. The search area wasn’t huge but with all the circumstances, it’d be great to have 2 of us looking. When Jim Brouwer and I got there around 10 am, I showed him the area and we drew a line in the sand where Jim (groom) suspected he entered the water. Jim B. took the north side and I took the south. After about 2 hours and almost at dead low tide, I see Jim B digging a target in about thigh deep water. Considering the time we were out there, I had dug just one bottle cap and Jim hadn’t dug anything, so this was a good sign. As I watched Jim search through his scoop, he raised his head and gave me the “yes” nod.  Thank you, Jim!!

Marie and husband Jim went to get Jim B and me some water, so when I tried to call Marie she didn’t answer. I called Cindi to see if the kids were with her, she said no and then asked if we found the ring. I told her yes but I wanted to surprise the kids. Cindi said she was coming down. Marie called me and I asked her if she’d come down. The plan was to tell Marie and Jim that we were done with the search while I was pointing out the areas we had searched with my index finger. The whole time I had Jim’s ring on that finger. It took a few minutes and I finally said “Follow my finger down.” Jim saw his ring first, and then Marie. Beautiful reactions from both and a few tears ran down their cheeks.

2 Lost Rings! -Gulf Shores, AL – FOUND!!!

This weekend my family stayed at our condo in Orange Beach. We were joking on the way over that Murphy’s Law would kick in and I would get a call for a ring return back towards home or even farther the other way. Fate was with us though when sure enough a young lady named Madison called on the second night from only a few miles away. She explained that she had lost her wedding band and her engagement ring earlier in the day.  I got some info and we made plans to meet the next morning. Madison had been on the beach with her family but she was missing her husband who was in Texas making plans with his brand new job. She took me and my wife Jeannie to the area and Madison had been honest that they had walked in about a quarter mile in the sand. She had left their tent as a marker the evening before but unfortunately it had been removed since you’re not allowed to leave it overnight. Luckily the beach service had left the umbrella in the sand so we were able to see where they had been the day before. Madison had taken off both of her rings and put them in the cup holder of her beach chair. When they got ready to leave her Mom picked up the chair and shook it to get the sand off and then put it on their rolling beach cart. When they got all the way back, Madison remembered the rings and pulled out the chair only to find that they were gone. I told her not to worry and that they were probably close to where she had been sitting. I was wrong. 😳 I completely searched the area making a grid pattern both ways and I was positive that they weren’t there. I ended up slowly tracking back the fading lines of the beach cart from the day before. When I got about halfway back, sure enough I got a gold tone and reached down with my scoop to remove some sand. I was able to see a rose gold band barely peeking out and quickly dug a little deeper to find her engagement ring right near the band. It was a really big area and I was so proud to find them both. Madison had already returned to the condo but it was awesome when my wife and I walked the rest of the way and were able to give the rings back to Madison in person. Congratulations Madison and I hope you and your husband take some of this luck with you to your new home in Texas. 🍀👍😃

Beach Siesta Causes Lost Wedding Ring on Wrightsville Beach NC

On Sunday, I got a call from John Finnerin (TRF Wrightsville Beach NC) asking if I could take a search for him at Wrightsville Beach. He gave me the gentleman’s name (Jim), phone number and a brief description of the man’s lost wedding band and the area it was lost. I called Jim and he confirmed that he had lost his ring on Saturday in the dry sand. I asked him the story connected to his lost ring. He said he was on the beach, lying on his towel all nice and comfortable. He decided to move his wedding band on his ring finger from its normal spot to between the 1st and 2nd knuckle. When he woke up and they decided to leave, he picked his towel up and shook off the sand. Later that evening, he approached his wife, Shelly, saying “I lost my ring.” He concluded that at some point during his nap, the ring came off his finger and when he picked up the towel to shake it, his ring went flying. Since it was a Sunday, we figured the beach would be packed with no place to park. He gave me the location and we agreed to meet at 6 pm.

About 3:30, I got antsy and decided to go ahead and make the hour and half a drive. I figured I’d go ahead and detect the area, hoping to find the ring before he got there. When I arrived, parking was available, and the beach wasn’t too crowded. I had a vague idea of where to search, so I started a grid search in the dry sand. After about 5 grid lines, I moved out of the dry sand to the wet sand. As I’m walking the grid line I spotted his ring sticking up in the wet sand.

When he and his wife arrived to show me the lost area, I was waiting next to my car with his ring in hand. I walked up to the passenger side of the car, and we introduced ourselves. I’m holding his ring between my thumb and forefinger and told him “you don’t even have to get out of your car”. He looked puzzled until he spotted his ring then there were all smiles.
