Lost diamond ring in the grass, Tavares Florida, found by Florida ring finder Mike McInroe

This ring search began after Apple was playing with her little one on a grassy area behind the house and as she came inside she realized her diamond ring was not on her finger. The ring was loose on her finger and she had every intention to get a silicone ring adjuster to help make it a tighter fit on her finger…because she knew that sooner or later it would come off and she could loose it for ever! Thankfully she found my number and later that afternoon I met Apple and she explained where sh had played in the yard and where her ring would most likely be. I set out my plastic markers and began an over lapping grid search. Ten minutes later I decided to expand my search and after another 10 minutes I spotted her lost ring just laying on the sparsely covered grass area another 20 feet out past where she thought it would be. Apple was very relieved to have her lost ring back and hopefully she will purchase on of those simple silicone ring adjustors to help keep her precious ring secure and safely on her finger.

Lost diamond engagement ring in car, Sanford Florida, found by Florida Ring Finder Mike McInroe

Sanford Florida resident Nadja texted me about a lost diamond engagement ring lost in a car and asked if I could help her. Here is her story. « Hi Mike! I found your number on theringfinders.com website and wanted to inquire about your services. I lost my engagement ring inside my car. I think it must have slipped down between the seats. We tried taking the seats out but came up with nothing. I see you mostly do grass, sand and water searches but am wondering if you are able to look in a car? This happened a few years ago in our 2011 VW Jetta. I was sitting in the back seat and I had the cup holder partition down and I was fiddling with my ring and it popped off of my finger and all I remember was it sounded like it hit something plastic and then it just disappeared! We pulled off the road to look for it but we could not find it. It wasn’t on the seat nor on the floor anywhere! We have searched several times over the years but have had no success. We are planning to donate the car this Friday since we do not use it anymore and I just wanted to give it one more try before we donate it. Just so I know I have tried all our options. I’ve always felt like it is somewhere in a crevice! »

I arrived the following day with my bag of supplies and listened to Nadja explain just what happened. I thought maybe her ring went down one of the air vents under the front seat or possibly slipped down along the front seat cracks in the carpet. Then a closer look at the cup holder arm that comes out of the back seat revealed an opening to the trunk. So I proceeded to remove everything in the trunk and searched every possible place where a small ring could hide and as I looked closer at the cupholder arm there was a small space where it hinges and I got out my handy dandy endoscope and stuck the camera with light attachment end down into the crack and immediately saw a quarter and a nickel. I had high hopes that if there were coins and gum wrappers tucked into that small space…surely a ring could be hiding there as well. I spent a good 15 minutes pushing and probing my endoscope into the corners and at every angle possible and I soon caught a glimpse of a diamond and setting and then Nadja’s lost ring came into view. Nadja’s husband came out to check on my progress and I told him that I can see the ring but that we will have to do some dismantling and he was ready to tear the back seat all apart! I removed a few screws and the cupholder came free and then it was only a matter of reaching down and picking up Nadja’s long lost ring! The young couple was overwhelmed and their joy and happiness was evident by the smiles on their faces. What a thrill it is to be able to help people in need of theringfinders special services. Have you or someone you know lost a jewelry item in a car, in the water, in the sand or grass… recently or a long time ago? Chances are it can still be found! Lost Earring While Gardening

Got a call from a wonderful, beautiful senior citizen who lost her valuable gold earring she has had for 52 years from her late-husband. After several days of searching and even having a neighbor with a metal detector come over to assist they were unable to locate the missing item.  She said ‘my heart is so sad’.  After checking the internet she found The Ring Finders and gave us a call, which we immediately responded. In just a few minutes we were able to locate the earring under the thick grass at the edge of her beautiful garden. With tears in her eyes she held the item next to her heart and thanked us over and over.  God we love what we do.

Lost Wedding Set Thanks To A Spider

  • from Dallas (Texas, United States)

We received a call from a couple who needed help locating the wife’s silver wedding set in their front yard.  We drove north outside of Decatur, TX to help this couple. Upon our arrival the husband briefly explained that the wife (who was still at work today) was crossing the yard from her car to the front door as a shortcut rather than from the driveway.  In doing so passed under a tree and were she encountered a massive spiderweb with the creature still in the web. Upon feeling the web/spider she immediately began shaking her hands to clean off the web and shoo the spider and in doing so her rings flew off.  (country spiders are big!) The couple searched the path she took, the grass around the tree and areas beyond; with no luck. [mmm, just thinking…could diamonds be a girl spider’s best friend?] We used our Garrett ATPros and began our search with unfortunately no success.  However, after questioning the husband if his wife was athletically inclined and he said ‘yes’ we expanded our search grid and voila two wedding rings found.  Another happy customer for The Ring Finders.

Lost Wedding Ring In Car

Got a call from a young lady saying her husband was playing with his wedding ring while driving and it dropped between the seats and disappeared.  Both searched for the ring for two days with no luck.  In a last ditch effort they turned to the mighty internet in hopes of finding someone with experience who finds lost rings.  And, they found us, The Ring Finders. We drove to Ft Worth, TX and met with the owner of the ring and got a description of what happened.  We used our specialized camera to search the nooks and crannies that was not available to the naked eye and spotted his wedding band. Our happiness of returning the ring to him almost matched his happiness of having it back in his possession and on his finger.

Anther great find for The Ring Finders.

Lost Wedding Ring Found by Metal Detecting in Time for 40th Anniversary

  • from Falmouth (Massachusetts, United States)

23 September 2025.  Yesterday I received an email from Lesley inquiring whether I might be able to search for her husband John’s lost wedding ring.  She had read a story in the Boston Globe Magazine about the RingFinders in which I was mentioned, and she knew me from past times as we both worked for the same employer.  She wasn’t very confident that a search would be fruitful because the ring had been lost about a year and a half ago, presumably ‘somewhere in their yard’.  I said I’d be happy to do a search and we made an appointment for me to search this morning.

The good thing about a loss on someone’s property of course is that there are no other detectorists who might have found the ring during the interval since it was lost, as can easily happen if a ring is lost on public property like a beach.  The bad thing is, ‘somewhere in the yard’ is a pretty vague basis for doing a search.

Before I began the search, Lesley showed me her wedding ring, which was a match to John’s.  Fortunately John had a pretty good idea that his ring might have come off his finger sometime when he was checking the irrigation system under a long row of evergreen trees.  I began my search in the area John described, deep under the low branches of the trees and along  their perimeter.  This turned up nothing but some of the usual yard trash.  I then searched the remainder of the back yard and down to the edge of a depression where brush was discarded.  Brush piles are a good candidate for lost rings because rings can come off as debris is tossed, but John indicated that these piles had accumulated after he had lost his ring, so I didn’t dig into them.

After nearly two hours of searching, the remaining likely candidate was under evergreens upslope of the irrigation system, where John might have done some other poking around or cleaning.  Sure enough, within a couple of minutes John’s ring turned up under mixed dirt and leaf debris 10 or 12 feet from the initial search area!

I walked over to John and Lesley who were sitting on a nearby porch.  Their expressions were something to the effect of ‘well, at least you gave it a good try’, but that quickly changed to ‘I can’t believe it’ when I handed them the ring.  We were all delighted that ‘somewhere in the yard’ turned into a successful recovery.  Best of all, John and Lesley will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary next month, and it’s great to know that their matched wedding rings will be part of the celebration!

John and Lesley celebrate a successful recovery.

John’s multicolor gold wedding band.

6.5ct Diamond Ring Found in Avalon – Happy Ending!
Joe and his fiancée were enjoying a lovely evening with neighbors in Avalon, NJ. The drinks were flowing, and the laughter was non-stop — until panic struck.
Somewhere during the night, Joe’s fiancée realized her 6.5-carat diamond engagement ring had vanished. Everyone stopped. The search began.
For two hours, friends and neighbors searched every inch of the yard. They checked seat cushions, flower beds, and even the sidewalk. But the ring was nowhere to be found.
That’s when Joe contacted me. I got there in just 20 minutes with my metal detector and started gathering info.
After learning where they had spent time that evening, I began my search in the grass.
It didn’t take long. Just 20 minutes later, my detector picked up a strong signal.
There it was — the ring! Sitting just beneath the surface of the grass, sparkling under my flashlight.
Everyone erupted in cheers. Joe’s fiancée was nearly in tears — happy ones this time.
The ring was safely back on her finger, and the party could finally relax again.
A beautiful evening saved by a little luck and the right tools.

Lost Gold Cornell University Ring at Royal Hawaiian Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Skylar saying I lost a ring in Waikiki how long would it take you to arrive?  I was just a few blocks from my home so I told her I could grab my gear and head right over in about 20 minutes depending on traffic.  They are from San Francisco and were on vacation.  After a little back and forth, I determined they were at the Royal Hawaiian Beach.  My daughter agreed to drop me off as it was getting towards dusk and time was of essence.  When I arrived, I met Skylar at the beach entrance and she introduced me to Will whose ring was lost.  It fell out of his shirt after coming out of the water.   Will showed me the dry sand area to hunt and thought his ring was silver but after finding it with the Manticore as a #31 on the VDI it was heavy and gold!  Vacation saved!  Aloha to Will, Skylar and the gang!

Aggie Ring disappears – Irving, Texas

  • from Dallas (Texas, United States)

We got a call from a young man who said he was playing Football with a friend, just passing the ball around.  When they finished playing he realized his coveted Aggie Ring was gone.

He jumped on the Internet and found « The Ring Finders » and gave us a call.  We responded immediately and boy was it hot, over 100 degrees.  Ellen and I covered the entire football field and on my next to last pass I saw His Aggie Ring sparkling in the dirt and grass, no detector needed on this one.

I let Ellen know I found it and we went walking towards the young man.  As we got closer I told him we needed to get some water and ask him to hold this and I handed him his Aggie Ring.  I wish you all could have seen his face, it was priceless.  So much fun, I love what we get to do to help people in their time of panic.
