Lost ring in the grass, Winter Park, Florida….Found!

Dave’s lost and found ring story began on January 17th, 2022, after some very cold and windy weather! Here in Florida we have allot of Spanish moss that grows on many of our trees and high winds will occasionally knock clumps of it off and leave the ground covered in small piles that need to be picked up. Being as it was cooler and a bit wet Dave could feel that his ring was a bit looser than normal but he wanted to clear the debris off of his yard before it got dark. As he zig zagged across the grass gathering handfuls of moss and sticks he would then walk to the edge of his yard and toss them into the woods. Later that evening he noticed his wedding ring was not on his finger and thinking back on what probably happened…he was almost positive it must have come off while clearing his yard! So the next day he began looking for his ring and it soon dawned on him how extremely difficult it would be to actually spot it in the leaves and grass. He realized he needed the help of someone with a metal detector and that led him to « Theringfinders.com »!

I met Dave a few days later and he showed me where he walked and we realized he basically covered his whole yard…and he has a very large and beautiful back yard! I first concentrated on the areas where he threw the debris and then checked the shallow water of the lake. That took a good hour and a half and then darkness fell. I said my goodbyes and reassured Dave I would be back to start systematically covering the yard. So I returned a few days later with my Garrett ATMax metal detector and switched to my large coil and began a tight grid search pattern. Two hours later it got dark and again I had to give up. Again I told Dave I would be back again in a week or so. Two weeks passed and I met Dave for a third try—hoping and praying that God would allow me to find Dave’s lost 20 year old wedding ring! I only had a quarter of the yard left to search and 15 minutes into my grid search I got a sharp, shallow signal and using my pin pointer I got that solid, beautiful, steady beep that we all love to hear…and there to my surprise was Dave’s lost wedding ring, just sitting there in the grass…perfectly camouflaged! I went around the house to tell Dave to come see what I had found, and you can imagine how happy he was to have his ring back again!

Lost wallet in the water, Atlantic Ocean, Daytona Beach….Found and Returned to owner!

While searching for a lost silver cross and chain for a young man from Wisconsin, I dug up someones wallet in the knee deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean. That’s not something we find very often and from the looks and condition of the wallet and the contents inside I could tell it had been there for a couple of months, at least. I never did find the silver cross but who knows it may show up yet! Plus that very same day I eyeballed a really nice lady’s diamond ring that is waiting to be reunited with its rightful owner. So after I got home and got myself and my gear all cleaned up I took out the wallet I had found and started going through the contents. First off it had a flat magnet and a flat metal plate sewn inside the wallet that helped keep it in the closed position. And it was those two pieces of metal that helped me find the wallet under all that sand. It contained three credit cards, one Florida Resident fishing license, a drivers license and 52 dollars in bills. Not a bad score for a day at the beach!

Later that evening I did a little investigation on line and found the owner of the wallets family and gave them a call. A few days later the wallet and all the contents were put in an envelope and mailed off to Jacksonville, Florida and here is the response that Coby sent me a week later.

« Hi Mike, I wanted to say thank you so much for sending my wallet, cards and cash back to me in one piece! Although the cards are no longer useful, it is great to have my ID and especially the cash again. My sister Rachel (with me in the picture) told me you washed, dried and ironed it! I appreciate what you do for people and as a Christian man myself, I thank God for people like you! You do the world a service unlike no other and people like you make the world go ’round’! Please let me know if you ever need anything from me. I am truly in your debt and thankful to you and the Lord for this reunion! Take good care of yourself and keep up the wonderful work! PS Here is a picture of myself and my sister Rachel with the items you sent to me. God Bless–Coby »

Lost ring in the grass, Maitland, Fl….Found and returned to owner!

Jacob and his girlfriend were at a church event when it came time to step out on the grass behind the church and have a free-for-all with a large tub of water balloons. And after it was all said and done Jacob looked down and realized his special class ring was gone and he could not believe it had come off of his finger without him realizing it! He and a few friends immediately started looking thru the grass hoping to spot his large gold ring. With only a few weeks left of school–his senior year at that—he could not imagine graduating without his ring. Part of his class ring has symbols that commemorate his dear grandfather so it held allot of sentimental value to Jacob and his family.

Jacob’s mother came to the rescue by typing « Metal detector rental Orlando, Florida » on her phone and theringfinders.com web site came up. (People are so surprised to hear that there actually is a very unique service which helps people find their lost rings. A skilled group of metal detector enthusiasts who offer their time, talents and abilities to help people find what they thought was lost forever!)

After talking to Jacob and making arrangements to meet later in the day I packed up my van and headed towards Orlando. As I drive I try to imagine what sort of search is ahead for me. I always let my family and my elderly parents (Father is 89 and my mother is 88) know that I am heading out on a search and I ask them to pray for me, that God would help me be a blessing and that He would lead me to find whatever it is that has been lost.

Later that afternoon I met Jacob and he showed me the area where they were all running around and throwing balloons. He mentioned he was throwing mostly toward the road so I set out my 4 corner flags and began my tight grid search. It took 20 minutes or so to cover the main area and I began thinking about how and where he would have been throwing and I told Jacob to walk side by side with me as we searched with our eyes the short, trashy area on the other side of the road. I explained that his ring very easily could have gone quite a distance past the small grass area and I pointed to the chainlink fence along the railroad tracks and said, « Look that area over as well, because there is a good chance it went thru the fence ». So Jacob began walking the fence line and I returned to swinging my detector. Within minutes I heard Jacob holler, « There it is!! » And low and behold his ring was sitting on the rocky gravel area a few feet behind the fence. We borrowed a ladder from the good people at the church and I went over the fence to retrieve his ring! Jacob was so relieved to have his ring back and I was thrilled for him as well!

Lost ring in the sand, Ponce Inlet, Fl…..Found and Returned!

Dom and his girlfriend were spending a warm summer day at the beach near Ponce Inlet, Florida, basking in the hot sun and swimming in the cool Atlantic waters. His girlfriend had taken her heirloom ring off and set it in the cupholder of her beach chair and soon forgot all about it. As high tide approached it was time to go and they gathered up their chairs, tent and other belongings and loaded up the truck and yes you guessed it, the ring fell into the soft sand and disappeared! They soon remembered the ring and returned to their parking spot on the beach and scoured the sand but realized the impossible task of finding such a small item in so soft of sand. For the next day and a half they agonized over the loss and that prompted a Google search which led them to theringfinders.com!

I assured Dom that I would come out and look for their ring and would search the following day as well if I was unable to find it on my first try.

We met the next day and as Dom tried to remember exactly where he had parked his truck, I began to grid search a large area hoping to come across his girlfriends lost ring. My new Whites TDI Beach Hunter was running smooth and hitting deep targets so I felt confident that if I went over the ring it would give a good signal and sure enough, an hour into the search, there in the sand was the lost opal and white gold ring waiting to be retrieved! The relief on Dom’s face was priceless and I was reminded again of why I love this service so much! It was an honor to help Dom and I am thankful to God for allowing me to find and return his girl friends lost ring!

Lost cell phone along highway, Ormond Beach, Florida….Found and Returned!

In November of 2017, Jerry was visiting his brother and wife in the Ormond Beach, Florida area and was in a bit of a hurry as he packed up his car to head north for the long drive home. And in his hurry he forgot that he had set his phone on the top of the car! Here is Jerry’s account. « My phone survived a brief thrill ride on top of my car before sliding off onto the shoulder of the road, where it survived a couple of cold and lonely nights before you, Mike, came to the rescue. I tried to hire someone from Craigslist for an « Odd Job » but nobody was interested. The day before I contacted Mike, I asked a local police officer to go out where the signal was still pinging and have a look around. It’s a work phone and they probably wouldn’t have charged me for it but I had some video on there of my daughters last Tae Kwon Do belt test that I didn’t want to lose. Glad I thought of metal detectors and glad I discovered you (and theringfinders.com)! Thanks again! Jerry O. »
So glad to be able to help you Jerry and thanks for entrusting me with the job of finding your lost cell phone!

Lost wedding ring, Orlando, Florida….Found and Returned!

Today Derek wrote, « My wedding ring slipped off my finger in my friends backyard. 15 people were on their hands and knees but couldn’t find it in the grass. I called Mike up and he was super friendly and confident he could find my ring. He showed up on time and was just as nice as on the phone. We talked a bit and then he went about searching. He used flags to create a grid and methodically scanned the yard. After about an hour of searching he called me over. My wedding band was pushed into the dirt and I never would have found it. He saved me time and got me out of the doghouse with my wife! Thanks Mike! Derek »
Derek thought about renting a metal detector and as he typed « Metal Detector Rental » into his phone he was directed to theringfinders.com web site and one of the many successful search stories.

Lost gold necklace, Daytona Beach, Florida…..Found and Returned!

Amber sent me a text asking about The Ring Finders service and how soon I could come out and help find her lost gold necklace. Apparently she was by a lake behind her apartment sunbathing and decided to take off her necklace for fear of getting a tan line. She laid her gold necklace on the towel and soon forgot all about it. A mother duck came by with 6 little babies and Amber decided to have a closer look. She gathered up her towel and walked along the waters edge over to where the little ducks were. She spent a few minutes observing the little ducklings and then headed up to her apartment. An hour later Amber felt her neck and was stunned to realize her chain was missing. She remembered taking it off and laying it on her towel so she ran downstairs and out the door, retracing her steps all the way back to where she had taken her necklace off. The grass was thick and Amber hoped that she would be able to see her gold necklace against the green color of the grass. But it ended up being much more difficult because of the small bits of dead grass here and there that were the exact same color as her gold necklace. After searching for some time and not finding it, Amber realized she needed some help so she typed « Metal detector-lost necklace » into her phone and up popped theringfinders.com web site. The next day I was able to meet Amber and do a successful search and it was amazing how well her golden necklace blended in with the grass. It took 10 minutes of grid searching the exact area where she picked up her towel and the relief was obvious when I showed her where her lost necklace was hiding. Thank you Amber for calling me and giving me the opportunity to help you in your time of need.
