Ring Lost Raking Leaves, Recovered by Rob Ellis, Fredericksburg, VA.

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Max texted me to help find his lost gold wedding band lost while raking leaves somewhere in his yard. Max was very interested in my metal detector, so I loaned him my spare. Most of his yard work took place in a specific area and that’s where we started the search. After about 20 minutes, I realized I needed to set up a grid for the entire yard. I set up my rope along the property line and I found the ring after only two passes!

In the open, and nobody saw it!

As you can see in the photo, the ring was barely covered by a leaf, sitting on some moss. I called Max over and pointed to the spot. When Max picked up his ring, his reaction was one of the most genuine, joyful displays of happiness I’ve witnessed finding rings.

Max’s Ring

Max immediately shared his find with his wife. On his return, Max told me how he and his wife had only been married for a short time. I do love this hobby!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Andrew contacted me after a long unsuccessful search for his Mercedes key FOB that fell out of his pocket while sled riding with his kids in his backyard in Narberth, PA. We had about 4 inches of snow and it was obvious to both of us it was probably covered…so wait till spring or I could give it a shot with my  metal detector? He asked me to come over the next day and I was happy to do so. We walked the yard….he showed me where he was sledding….10 minutes into the search there they were! I was happy to help him avoid paying an exorbitant amount of $ for a replacement key FOB.

Meghan contacted me on December 22 regarding her lost ring. She had been on a volley ball court at the beach when it became lost, and because she was getting ready to travel, she was unable to meet me for the search. I let her know I would be able to help, but would need as much information as possible in order to find the ring. She agreed, and began to provide what I needed.

When I got to the beach, I found what I believed was the court to search, and began. I went over much of the court, and then decided to call Meghan to make sure I had everything correct. When we spoke I found that I had been searching the court next to the one she had been on, so I switched, and withing 5 minutes, I was able to let her know the ring was safe. She told me that she would be coming back after January 4th, so we met on the 8th for the return, This ring, made from a silver French Frank was to be her future wedding ring, so it had a great sentimental value for her. I was happy to help.

When Yvonne contacted me it was Christmas Day. She had lost her heirloom ring in the yard, and had been unable to locate it. I let her know that I would be available the next day to do a search for her, so we set up a time for me to come out to her house for the search.

I arrived at the appointed time, and met Yvonne who then took me out to the back of her house to show me the area of the loss. There were a lot of leaves all over the area where she had been pulling weeds, which would make it easy to lose a ring. She also took the weeds and threw them into the horse corral which had a fluffy clay like dirt base. I began looking in the leaves first, and went over them very carefully. There was a lot of other metal there, so I had to work slowly to ensure I did not miss anything, but did not find the ring. I then went into the corral, and searched the area she had thrown the weeds into, and also found nothing. I then switched coils to be able to get tighter into the fencing, and other metal structures in the leafy area, but nothing again. I went back into the corral, searched the area she threw the weeds into, finding nothing, then began to work outside the box. As I worked grid lines further and further out I finally got a signal, looked down, and there on the surface was the ring. It was covered in the clay powder, and very difficult to see. I called Yvonne over, and showed her the ring where I had found it. She told me that she would never had looked in that area, and thought the horse must have been rolling in the dirt, and moved the ring. The ring had been her mother’s, and the thought of losing it was hard to accept. I was so glad to be able to help her retain a memory of her mother.

Lost Yellow Gold Wedding Band at Aulani Beach Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Josh who is on his Honeymoon from Portsmouth, England and staying at the Aulani Resort with his lovely wife Jaz.  On Sunday, while seated in the cool shallow waters of the lagoon, Josh felt his Yellow Gold Wedding Band slip off and disappear into the sand.  They hunted for the ring but with the surf up in the lagoon it was impossible to see.  While talking to the resort personnel they were told about my recovery service.  I told Josh I would head over as soon as I finished work.  When I arrived Josh & Jaz met me on the beach and showed me the area to hunt.  I found a few coins, a pull tab and an earring.  About a third of the way through the grid I got a nice tone near shore and after two scoops there was Josh’s shiny new Gold Wedding Ring in the scoop.  I let Josh & Jaz reach into the scoop to ensure the ring I found was his and of course it was.  Honeymoon saved and much deserved relief after four days.  Aloha to Josh & Jaz!

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Amy who was on vacation from Murrieta, California and staying at the Marriott in Ko Olina.  She said her husband Ryan was swimming in the lagoon and while making an adjustment on a floatie his Platinum Wedding Band fell off and disappeared in the sandy bottom of the lagoon water the day before.  The water was only about waist deep but impossible to see.  Ryan assumed it was lost forever!  I called and told Amy I could be there that afternoon around 1:30.  She said they would be on the beach.  When I arrived Amy showed me the area to search and I fired up the Manticore for my grid search.  I started a little to the North and worked South.  When I was nearing the center of the grid going up onto the wet sand I got a nice loud tone and after one scoop there was Ryan’s Band in the scoop.  The rough waves actually threw the ring up onto the shoreline.  I motioned towards Amy and she was in disbelief I think that the ring was found so quickly.  Also, Ryan was just making his way down to the beach and Amy was able to put the ring back on his finger.  What a wonderful family and I was thankful to be able to save the vacation.  Aloha to Ryan, Amy & Family!

How to Find a Lost Ring in Santa Barbara – Expert Help from Dave The Ring Finder
Lost a ring in Santa Barbara? Don’t panic—call or text Dave The Ring Finder at 805-290-5009 for fast, professional help. Whether it’s a ring lost on the beach or misplaced at home, I’m here to recover your precious jewelry as a proud member of The Ring Finders network!
Recently, I received a text from a Santa Barbara resident who preferred to stay anonymous. She’d lost something irreplaceable: a small decorative box containing three rings and a diamond necklace. The missing items included her husband’s gold band, her white gold wedding ring, a jade ring—a sentimental gift from years ago—and a necklace with the diamond from her engagement ring. This wasn’t just jewelry; it was a treasure chest of her life’s memories, kept in her living room for years until it vanished.
She was devastated and convinced she’d searched everywhere. While my metal detecting gear excels outdoors, indoor searches pose challenges due to household metal and EMF interference. Still, I offered my expertise as an experienced searcher to tackle this mystery. We met at her Santa Barbara home, and I suggested we sit at her kitchen table—a calm spot to think clearly. Together, we listed every possible location for the box, planning to search each spot thoroughly and cross it off once cleared. This methodical approach helps clients stay focused when stress clouds their judgment.
One spot on the list was a large bookshelf in her living room. At first glance, it seemed unlikely, but we noticed the shelves were deep and shadowy. A closer look was worth it—and there, tucked in the back atop a row of books, was the small wooden box, blending perfectly with its surroundings. Inside were her rings and necklace, safe and sound! The relief and joy in that moment were palpable as she reclaimed her cherished pieces.
Finding a lost ring in Santa Barbara—or anywhere—often feels like detective work. It takes patience, a clear plan, and sometimes a fresh perspective. That’s where I come in. If you’re wondering how to find a lost ring in Santa Barbara, whether it’s buried in sand or hidden at home, call or text Dave The Ring Finder at 805-290-5009. Platinum Wedding Band Recovered by Rob Ellis, Arlington, VA.

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Paul was raking leaves in his backyard when he realized his platinum wedding ring was missing.

for recovery book post

Paul’s Ring

When I arrived at his home, he showed me exactly where he was raking and gathering leaves. He had searched very carefully in the area and kept the leaves for me to search with my detector.

It can be very frustrating for people to visually search for a ring and not find it. After interviewing Paul, I quickly found his ring with my Equinox 900 detector. Both of us had walked over the area earlier and missed seeing the ring, which was sitting in the thin grass. I asked Paul to come over so he could see the location and have the pleasure of retrieving his wedding band.

Don’t give up. Many of my clients have bought, borrowed, or rented a metal detector before calling me. Just because someone has a tool, it doesn’t mean they know how to use it. I was so happy to have found Paul’s ring. Unfortunately, there is no smile photo. For smile pic?
