….One more splash in the cool water was all Patrick wanted. Once on shore standing in the sand, he noticed his ring missing. He wondered where it went and looked in his towel hoping it was in there. Nope. He was leaving town the next day and was in panic mode. I saw the water and rushed right in hoping to cool off for a while longer unlike my last recovery. Starting out neck deep I slowly worked my way towards shore savoring the cool clear water enveloping me. Then Patrick’s wife pointed to a spot she remembered him standing. I slowly drifted over to scan the metal detector coil around and sure enough the detector signaled to me good metal. Descending under the water about 4 feet with my pin pointer Patrick’s ring revealed itself under 3 inches of sand, quite unusual for just being dropped. So, all back on shore and happy Patrick can leave town with his ring and I got to cool off longer!

Last night I got a call from a number from Hungary. I figured I was getting spammed so I let it go to voice mail. What it was though was a family from Hungary on a once in a lifetime vacation in the U.S. had been swimming in the ocean across from their Hotel Mar Monte in Santa Barbara. Violet had been standing knee deep at high tide when a sneaker wave came up and knocked her down and her wedding ring fell off into the surf. The other problem was they were leaving the next day (today at 11am) so I needed to get there fast and early. I hit the road at 4am so I could get out on East Beach at 5am. I got to the location and began a grid search from the slope down into the water. On my fourth pass I got the sound I had been looking for on my Minelab Manticore and after 3 scoops I could hear clanging in the scoop but I couldn’t see due to the darkness. I grabbed my phone and turned on the flashlight and there it was, Violet’s ring!

Last evening I received a call from Jess. Jess explained that she was enjoying some time with family and friends at Tidewaters in Margate, New Jersey. Jess had taken her phone out while attempting to capture the sunset when the phone slipped from her hand and disappeared into the murky depths below the dock she was standing on. After speaking with Jess, we coordinated a time to meet that coincided with this mornings low tide.  I met up with Jess and her mother this morning and they directed me to the area where the phone went in. After about an hour of sifting thru black mud, crabs, clams, and metal debris I managed to locate Jess’s phone. The device was still on and appeared to be completely undamaged from the ordeal. As with most folks now a days a good portion of their captured memories reside on their phone so getting it back was a huge relief for Jess. Another successful recovery another happy client!

Sterling Silver Bracelet with Two Charms Lost in the Soft Sand, Found and Returned Ocean Isle Beach NC

Thursday evening, July 30, 2026, and just before 6:30 pm, I received a call from Mike stating his daughter, Ashlynn had lost her Sterling Silver Bracelet and asked if I could help find it. He also stated the bracelet was a gift from her grandmother. I asked if it was lost in the soft sand or water. He said it was lost in the soft sand on either the prior Sunday or Monday.  He also said that she had put the bracelet in a wagon along with towels and other beach items. He suspected it was lost when they got to the beach and started removing the items from the wagon. We set up a time for me to search at 8:30 pm and hung up.

I ate a quick dinner and text him, asking him if we could meet at 7:30 and he agreed. When I showed up at their rental, Mike, his wife, younger daughter and Ashlynn were waiting in the driveway. We walked down to the beach, and I was shown the area. I got a description of the bracelet and started a circular search. Not really knowing what the bracelet was going to show on the VDI (visual display indicator) I covered the area, checking every signal I got. I was going to start a north/south grid search outside the suspected area when I got a bouncing signal between 12 and 15. I took a scoop of sand and gently shook out the sand. There was nothing in the scoop, so I checked the sand and saw the outline of a possible bracelet in the sand. I reached down and pulled Ashlynn’s bracelet out of the sand. I turned around and looked at Ashlynn, who was watching me and gave her a big smile. The entire family was so happy and excited. Turns out, the bracelet was a HS graduation present from her grandmother.

Ashlynn, so happy your dad called me and we got the bracelet back where it belongs. I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.

This couple was enjoying a day of swimming with friends at a private lake in central Oklahoma when a treasured family heirloom slipped from her finger and disappeared beneath the water. Lost Tungsten Wedding Band at Queen’s Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a phone call from a local named Phil who said a couple on Queen’s Beach in Waikiki lost a wedding band in the dry sand.  I told him I could be there in about 15 minutes.  I also told them to stop looking and just draw a box around the area.  I heard him shout out « Stop digging! »  Parking was a breeze as it was starting to drizzle.  When I got down to Queen’s Beach Phil introduced me to Edwin and his lovely wife Paola, who were on vacation from San Diego, California.  The ring was Edwin’s and he said it was a Tungsten gun metal gray ring.  The box was already drawn in the sand and you could see all the disturbed sand from hunting for the ring.  I started the grid search on the west side and worked east.  First target fell through the scoop.  Not a ring.  Next target on the drawn grid edge BOOM! Tungsten ring.  Elapsed time 45 seconds and Vacation saved!  Much Aloha to Edwin & Paola!

Lost Tiffany & Co. Silver Ring & Blue Sapphires at Lanikai Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began Monday, July 13th when I got a text from Dianna that said, « Hope you can help me search for a ring back in Oahu, Lanikai Beach? »  Dianna was back in California and said the ring was lost the week prior and was in knee deep water about 6 feet from the dry sand.  She also added at the end of the beach access turn right about 6-10 feet and straight in.  Knowing how much Lanikai gets detected my worst fear was it was probably found already.  I agreed to hunt Wednesday morning at low tide.  I arrived at 5:30 in the morning and good thing I did as there was only one parking spot remaining, a block from the access.  This place is very popular for the stunning sunrise from the pillbox trail.  When I got to the beach, I started my grid search a bit more to the right and worked back towards the beach access.  First target was a crusty Lincoln Cent.  Then a booming high tone.  I couldn’t believe the blessing when I looked in my scoop and there was Dianna’s gorgeous Tiffany Ring in the scoop.  I immediately went to my car and texted her a pic.  Dianna said,  » I literally had a dream last night that you found it and I woke up like Praying I hope it happens.  Prayers do work!  She was blessed.  Aloha to Dianna!

Titanium Wedding Band recovery from the Saco in N. Conway NH.

I received a message from Cain’s wife after she found me online. While they were relaxing and enjoying the day on the Saco River in North Conway, New Hampshire, Cain’s wedding band slipped off and disappeared into the river.

The ring was lost somewhere within an area of roughly 300 square feet. After arriving on site and searching with my metal detector, I was able to locate and recover his wedding band in about 30 minutes.

There’s nothing better than returning something so meaningful to its owner. Seeing the relief and smiles on their faces made the trip completely worthwhile.
