Metal Detecting…Night Hunt for lost Gold at Locarno Beach, Vancouver

I received a call from Chris who lost his wedding band while setting up his camera to take some pictures of the city from Locarno Beach in Vancouver. The thing was he didn’t know when the ring came off, this makes it hard to locate the ring as the area could be huge.

After talking to Chris on the phone he new he had it on when he left his car and when he got back to his car it was gone. He sent me a google map of the area as he couldn’t meet me, this was a great way to get a feel for the search area and I felt confident I could find the ring.

20 minutes after a started my search I found his ring at 3:30 am near the top of the search area on the picture above…I love it when I get lucky and pick the right area to start the grid search. It could have been a much longer search!

Lost Platinum Diamond Ring in East Vancouver…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Today I had a search for a platinum diamond engagement ring that was lost on Meaghan property along the walk way beside her house. Meaghan had searched for a week on and off in the area that the ring came out of her pocket, but just couldn’t find it.

That’s what prompted her to search the internet and see if there was someone that could help her find her engagement ring of 5 years, finding  »The Ring Finders » was exactly what she had hoped for!

I received the call and we set up a day to come out and find the ring, a week later I was there to check out the search area. Looking it over, I knew I’d be finding this ring without my detector.

After moving  a dozen concrete blocks that were a part of the walk way and a couple of long pipes and boards and about 30 minutes…There it was under a concrete block closes to the house…

What a beautiful ring! I was so happy that it showed itself and its now back where it belongs. Thank you for reading my blogs and until the next search…

Lost Diamond Ring in Port Coquitlam, PoCo…Found!

I was at work when I received a call from Patrick who asked if I could help find a ring that his wife Colleen lost that day. Patrick was calling me from Phoenix Arizona but his wife was home in Port Coquitlam, she was at a local school when she was throwing a ball for her dog and the ring came off her finger.

Colleen spent over an hour searching for the ring but had no luck, she then called her husband with the bad news.

Patrick wasted no time and went online and found The Ring Finders Directory and my service here in Vancouver / Lower Mainland. We discussed the search and due to the area the ring was lost at I knew I had to search for it after work that night.

After a 13 1/2 hour day at work I went home grabbed my detector and headed out to PoCo, with Patrick’s help via phone at 12:50 a.m… I located the exact area his wife was playing ball with her dog.

After 30 minutes of grid searching this beautiful ring showed itself…I quickly took a picture and emailed it to Patrick. A minute later I received a call from a very happy young man!

What a great couple! Nice to meet you both and thank you for the kind reward!

Metal Detecting for 2 Lost Rings In Maple Ridge, BC

Close to two months back I received an email from a young lady asking if I could find her husbands wedding band that he lost while gardening. I replied but never heard back from her, just the other day she contacted me again and we set a day to look for the ring.

When I arrived this morning at 10 am I was greeted by Brenda who quickly told me that she lied about how her husband lost his ring and explained that he threw the ring in the back yard and weeks later she threw hers…

Brenda isn’t the first to do this nor will she or her husband be the last!  This happens a lot ! More then people think…She is just the first to discuss it with me on video and I’m very grateful for that! It’s important that others know that they’re not the only ones doing something like that and not to feel embarrassed,  just call me ASAP and I’ll get that ring back on your finger where it belongs.

I was able to find her husbands ring in only a few minutes but I wasn’t  able to locate her ring. I knew the minute I saw her back yard that there was going to be a good chance that it ended up in the neighbours back yard which wasn’t that far from where the ring was thrown.

The only problem was that the neighbours where the ring could be,  wasn’t home. So now we wait until I hear back and hopefully we can get her ring back on her hand!

I love my job!

Lost Ring After Iron Man Race Found – Cross Plains, WI

  • from Madison (Wisconsin, United States)
Contact:

Gold Ring (20110913)_crop

I saw a posting on www.Craigslist.com Lost and Found section looking for help in locating a lost ring.  Brian had been spectating the Ironman race the past weekend. After the race, he found a wooded area off of the route to change into some shorts.  He then walked back to the race route, which ran directly past a rural house.  Brian picked a spot in front of a driveway and encouraged others still running the race.  Suddenly, Brian realized his ring was missing.  He retraced his steps back to the wooded area, searching for his ring along the way.  He did not have any luck.  He wasn’t sure if he lost it while changing in the woods, or while watching the race.  It was getting dark, so Brian grabbed a flashlight and continued hunting for his ring.  He searched for awhile longer, but did not find anything.  Brian was so mad at himself for losing his ring. To top it all off, he was from Illinois and had to return home the next day.  This is when Brian posted an ad on Craigslist hoping someone else had found it while watching the race.

I responded to the ad offering to help.  Robyn, Brian’s wife, replied back with a great image of a Google Map snapshot, including the area Brian was in circled in red.  She indicated the main area to search was the driveway.  My son and I made arrangements with the homeowner to stop out and search.  The grass was longer than usual, so I could see how it would be hard to find the ring if it was dropped.  After about 10 mins, all we had was $0.35 in change, a couple pop tops and a handful of other junk.  Then, right in the area Robyn said to focus on, we got a strong hit on the detector … it was Brian’s ring!  Someone must have stepped on it, possibly Brian while searching for it.   It was about 1 inch underground, but was easy to retrieve.  I then gave Brian a call to give him the good news, he was ecstatic.  You could just tell the relief in his voice when I was talking with him.

This was a special hunt for me, as this was our first wedding ring search and return … we’ve been hooked ever since

2 Lost Rings in the UBC Area / Spanish Banks…Found

Smiles are the best things we find! I got a call from a young lady that tells me she lost two rings while on a big water slide that was made for a party with lots of friends. The rings meant a lot to Fran and she thought she’d never see the rings again so she was going to rent a metal detector and went on line and found The Ring Finders Directory.

My wife and I met Fran at 8PM just before it got dark and she showed us the huge hill where they had the slide that weekend. I could see the flatten grass where the slide was placed and this helped with our grid search.

After just minutes of turning on my big flood light we found one ring that was flattened into the ground. After a 14 hour day at work then 2 hours into the search we decided to call it a night. I knew it would take daylight to find the second ring as it was hard to do a grid in the low light we had.

We sent a picture of the ring to Fran and told her we’d go out and search on the weekend for the gold & jade ring. I went out and bought a new metal detector(Whites V3i) and I was excited to give it a go, our son wanted to join the search and Beverley and I were excited to have him as the search area was pretty huge.

I wasn’t feeling all that great when we got there and it was a hot day so I slowly started to set up my new detector and Jamie ask me if he could give it a go, I said sure and his mother let him use the Whites XLT that she was going to use. I just started to grid search when I hear Jamie and Beverley shouting…Found It! Found It! I’m thinking found what? It was almost like Jamie walked right to the ring!

With such a big area to search that day Jamie knocked it out of the park! I was so proud of him and happy to know that I could go home and rest…Like his mother he has the knack of find what people thought was lost forever.

I love my job & family!

Found, Lost platinum wedding ring in West Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I received a call from a young man that owns a landscaping company here in West Vancouver.  He said that he’d lost his platinum wedding ring of ten years some where in his clients back yard.

He rented a metal detector and searched with 4 of his employees for over 4 hours but didn’t find the ring. He then went on his smart phone and found  »The Ring Finders » (That is a smart phone!)

We made arrangements to me meet later in the day, when I arrived he showed me the area he believed the ring was lost in and I began my search. Only minutes later I found his wedding band, needless to say he was excited but couldn’t understand why he couldn’t find it as he and his employees were searching for hours in the same location…

I have had close to 70% of the people who hire me rent metal detectors first and after searching for hours give up the search and call me. My equipment is much better then the ones they rent and also it could be a little overwhelming for the person who has never used a metal detector.

Every ring has a story and it’s always a great feeling to help continue that story for the people I help.

Lost Diamond Ring in South West Vancouver… Blog & Video

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Tonight I received a call from a young lady who lost a very special ring, it was her diamond ring and she was heart broken that it was lost.

I was told by Jen that the ring came off when she was feeding crows from her patio, on the 4th floor of their apartment.  When she was throwing the food to the crows her ring came off,  she feared it may have landed on the apartment roof  next door.

We did a few test throws with a ring I gave her,  this  gives me the general direction and I started my search. Within 15 minutes I got a great signal that fell into the gold reading on my Whites XLT metal detector.

I moved some leafs and snow and saw the glint of white gold, I bent down to take a closer look and I could see the ring that was stuck into the ground, as it was walked on for sure by Jen and her boyfriend who had spent many hours with a rented metal detector, but had no luck finding the ring.

I was very happy to have found the ring for Jen, Its nice to know its back where it belongs.  It was nice meeting you Jen & Ryan! Thank you for generous reward Jen!

I love my job!

Thanks for reading my story!

Best,
Chris Turner

Lost Diamond Ring in Whonnock Lake, Maple Ridge…Found!

Sweet 16… Birthday Gift lost in 4 feet of water!

Mother & Daughter & Ring

It was a sweet 16th birthday diamond ring that her mother bought for her daughter…Two weeks after receiving her gift it was lost in 4 feet of water in Wannuck Lake…This is how the story goes…

It was her brothers birthday and family and friends enjoyed a sunny day at Whonnock Lake in Maple Ridge. Her bother and friends all decided to run into the lake with clothes on…Great to be young!

They all agreed and lined up and at the same time ran into the water…All but Kate who stopped at the waters edge, as she was laughing her cousin ran out and grabbed her and walked her into the water then threw her in!

As she started to swim back to shore she felt her hand hit her leg and felt her ring come off her finger. She stopped and told everyone not to move and that her ring came off.

It was hopeless due to the murky bottom, the ring was lost! She was devastated and so was her mother! Luckily Kate’s mother started to search the internet to find a metal detector and found The Ring Finders Directory.

I received an email and called Susan to discuss the search, she explained how much the ring meant to both of them and was really hoping that I could find it.

After talking to them I found out that a lady who saw them searching the water had offered to search for the ring as she was a diver. They never heard back from the lady and didn’t know if she came back to the lake later to search for the ring.

I started my search in waiters and soon changed to my wetsuit as it was in deeper water then expected. Shortly after changing into the wetsuit my underwater detector took on some water…Bummer! But I had backup in my car.

I started the search and within 15 minutes I had found many bobby pins and one diamond ring with two hearts…
To get a first hand reaction for my video camera I pretended that I needed to film me starting the search.

I got my camera and started to talk about the many bobby pins I had found then I held up the ring…

I have the greatest job in the world!

I love my job!
