Diamond Wedding Ring Lost in Mission Viejo, CA…Found and Returned.

I received a call from Anna last Wednesday for a lost diamond wedding ring. When I spoke to her, I asked the most important questions, and when done it was decided that the ring should be in the yard where she had been sitting with her husband. She had given the ring to her husband while they were visiting her cousin. When the day was done, she asked her husband for the ring, and it was gone. I arranged to meet the next morning to do a good thorough search.

When I got to the house, Anna’s cousin showed me the area which was a pretty good patch of grass which could hide a ring easily. I proceeded to search, and searched the whole area only finding some bottle caps. I went and got another detector with a better recovery, and searched it again, nothing. I knew the ring was not in that yard. Anna’s cousin had left for work, and Anna’s God Daughter stayed with me, also named Anna. I spoke to young Anna, and explained that there was no way the ring was in that yard, and that we should back track every where they had been the other day. She showed me a patch of grass that led to the pool, which seemed like a good search. I began my search there, and had it almost complete, when Anna’s God Daughter came running up saying she found it! There in her hand was a beautiful 3 diamond ring. She had taken my advice to retrace their steps, and while I was searching the grass, she went to where they had been parked 3 days earlier, and there on the asphalt under a car was Anna’s ring. Amazing! Sometimes we can help by just thinking things through for people. I have helped people find their rings just by talking them through the loss, and it ends in the same way, joy for the person who thought that what they had lost for good was found again.

RING LOST AT GYRO BEACH, OKANAGAN LAKE KELOWNA, RETURNED.

Charlie was having a great day on the beach with most of his family. On July 8th in Kelowna the temperature was in the high 30`s so the lake was a good place to cool off. Unfortunately for Charlie his 14k wedding ring came off in the water, the whole family searched for it with no success. Charle`s uncle found me on The Ringfinders website and called me, I responded within the hour and his family were still in the water. Its difficult to pinpoint the location but they were close and within 30 minutes I had the ring in my scoop, much to the delight of all the onlookers. It was hugs and kisses from the family and a big smile from Charlie and his wife.

Cape Cod: Lost Ring Found, with a little help from a friend.

It is great to have a helpful and concerned friend in time of need. That is just what Greg was for Sam. Greg posted signs around the beach. At home he reached out to TheRingFinders for help in finding Sam’s wedding band; that is where I came in. Just hours after Sam’s wedding band had slipped from his finger into the crystal clear water and under the soft white sand Greg and I were exchanging pictures of the area of loss were exchanged and set a time to meet the next day.

Sam met Jim (my summer time detecting comrade) and myself just after sunrise, lead us down a one-way dirt road to a 3 car public parking area were we geared up and took a hike to the lake. After Sam answered a few questions about the loss, Jim and I headed out to the area believed to be where the ring had slipped from Sam’s finger.

I had dug three coins and then a ring. It was not as I had envisioned it and called back to Sam…“is it a square ring?” To which Sam asked “what do you mean?” “Well, not round” I called back. The resounding YES was probably be heard all over the lake. Jim looked puzzled and on my way back to shore I let Jim have a peek at the ring in my scoop. When I got back to shore Sam had the enjoyment of retrieving his ring from my scoop and placing it back where it belonged, on his finger. Time elapse…three minutes. The pictures tell it all!

Lost smart phone Port Hueneme Beach Found

We got out early to hit the beach at Port Hueneme. The area around the pier is a great place to metal detect as the beach is beautiful and it attracts lots of beach goers every summer. We were working the towel line on the north side of the pier collecting the usual bottle caps, pull tabs and coins when we decided to move up more towards the middle of the beach and walk back towards the pier.

I was sweeping my coil and I started to get multiple hits and I began to recover quarters, nickels and a few pennies all within a 6 foot circle. Knowing I was on a coin spill I started to widen out my circle and I got a large hit, dug down with my scoop and popped out a brand new Alcatel smart phone. Cell phones have become major parts of our lives so I knew I had to try and find it’s owner as I turned it on and there was still battery left meaning it had likely been lost the evening/day before. The phones identification was all in Spanish so I enlisted my hunting partner to see if his wife could lead us to the owner as she speaks fluent Spanish.

Two days later and we were able to make the return. It’s not a lost ring but when the average smart phone costs nearly as much as a 96 Honda Civic, a good return like this is worth it. Lupe had hundreds of pictures of her kids and family on it making this a priceless return.

Lost wedding ring in Pine View Reservoir, Utah: Found

Thomas lost his ring in about three feet of water at Cemetery Point Beach at Pine View Reservoir near Huntsville, Utah. Of course he was devastated because he loved that ring. I made the hour-and-a half drive and met him at the beach. It took me about an hour, but I was fortunately able to recover the ring for him! I love it when I can return a precious item to its owner!

Engagement Ring Retrieved from Lake Michigan

Thursday afternoon I received an email from Ana in St. Joseph.  On the 4th of July, Ana was playing in the water at Silver Beach and noticed her engagement ring was gone.  She and her fiance’ were about to insure the ring but lost it before they had the chance.  After contacting me and Fred Johnson, the Ring Finder for the Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Hastings areas, we agreed to meet her near the beach that evening.  There was severe weather forecast for that evening and we were hoping to find it before the weather turned on us.   I met Fred and Ana near the beach but we were unable to find a place to park anywhere near Silver Beach.   Fred and I had to park a 1/2 mile from the beach and then walk an additional 1/2 mile south to the spot where Ana had lost the ring.   Ana had also borrowed a Garrett AT Pro metal detector to help with the search.  After a quick tutorial on how to operate the AT Pro, Ana started detecting near the shoreline while Fred and I started a grid search, Fred working to the south while I worked a grid to the north.  After 15 or 20 minutes, in waist deep water, I saw gold and diamonds in my scoop!  Ana was so surprised and happy she started to cry.  Even the the onlookers on shore cheered.  What a beautiful ring and a very happy bride-to-be.

Gold Charm Found at Grand Haven

Grand Haven puts on one of the best fireworks displays on the 4th of July anywhere in West Michigan.  Thousands of people flock to Grand Haven and the Grand Haven State Park that day.  By 11:00 a.m. the Sate Park was full and I was turned away and unable to spend the day detecting at my favorite beach.  At 7:00 p.m. Devin, from Detroit, called me from Grand Haven State Park and said he lost the gold charm from his necklace on the volleyball court and asked me to please come find it.  I’m thinking there’s no way I’m getting near the State Park this late in the day; the police would already be setting up road blocks and barricades to direct traffic in and out of the waterfront area; but I’m willing to give it a try.  After several detours and roadblocks, I was able to get into the State Park about 2 hours before sunset as people left the park and head to the other side of downtown for the fireworks show.  After meeting up with Devin at the volleyball courts I see they have a 6′ circle marked out in the sand at one corner of the court where he says he lost the charm.  With the very first sweep of my coil I was able to find the charm!  Everyone on the court broke out in cheers!  Without doubt this was the quickest recovery I’ve ever made  🙂

Heirloom Diamond Wedding Ring Lost .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found in Sand

I was driving on the Balboa Penensula in Newport Beach after failed ring search when I received a call from Jaimee’s friend. She was at « G » St. on the beach and wanted to know if I was available. I had just  past that location and was four blocks away. I told her I could be there in 5 minutes, but parking on this July 4th holiday would be a problem. They live in the neighborhood so they had a place for me to park. (that’s a miracle).

A short walk on to the beach where they had a large group of friends set up for a big 4th of July beach party. I met Jaimee who showed me where she had lost her diamond wedding ring when she took it off to apply sunscreen. It was an irreplaceable family heirloom past down to her from her great grandmother.

They had the spot marked well but for the last two hours many of the people tried to find the ring. I set up my XP Deus with highest sensitivity and deep settings because it was a thin white gold band with diamonds. It showed up in my scoop after my first signal. Jaimee broke out in tears of gratitude giving me a big hug.

It was one of those times that I believe it wasn’t a coincidence that I was just around the corner when they called.

Cleaning up roofing nails

Jane & Ellen

Land/stock AT Pro. Land search, items recovered. 2 hours.

My lovely neighbors Jane & Ellen, (and their four footed owners Agi and Riley),had their roof replaced. Although the crew did a careful clean-up, my friends were concerned about missed roofing nails which could hurt the always active, Agi & Riley. I swept through the yard, trying my best to ignore any deeper signals. I spent a couple of hours and found about 40 nails and staples, bits of wire, a drill bit, and some trash. Although I tried to ignore the deeper targets, I couldn’t help it, and I dug a couple of clad coins from 5 or 6 inches down. As you can see in the photo, one of the nails has a square cap. I found that one in the back yard by a swinging bench. Not only was it pretty far from the roof, it was sticking straight up on packed mulch. Anyone (human or dog) who stepped on that would have noticed! I am so happy Jane and Ellen asked me to do this for them. Before, it hadn’t occurred to me that this would be a useful service. Everyone was very appreciative. I even got a thank you card from Agi & Riley!

Lost Wedding Ring… Found in Lone Tree Iowa

I was contacted by the husband of a lady who lost her ring after mowing her yard. She was dumping the grass clippings from here bagger and got caught in the rain. He said she was shaking her hands trying to get the grass and water off and her ring came off too.

He said a friend of his had some cheap metal detectors and they were going to search for it but wondered if I would be available if they didn’t find it. I said yes I was on vacation all week after the 4th of July. So I got the call that they didn’t find it. I went yesterday on the 6th and was able to find it.

Here is what his wife wrote me along with her picture for the book of smiles.

Hi Norm, This is Molly. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for finding my ring. You have no idea how much relief it brought me. I am beyond thrilled and very impressed I have to say after searching that area many times on our hands and knees, as well as going over it with 2 metal detectors. I had little faith that you would find anything.  You have a gift, and we hope you are blessed ten fold.
