Lost engagement and wedding rings in yard, St. Augustine, Fl…..Found!

Mrs. Connie called me Friday afternoon from St. Augustine with a very special request. Apparently on Wednesday Mrs. Connie had walked down their driveway to check the mail box and as she was walking back to the house she spotted some weeds and palm debris in one of her flower beds. She carefully set her mail and glasses on the edge of the concrete and proceeded to pull the weeds and pick up the debris. Then she said she walked over to the fence and with her left hand she threw the sticks and weeds. And as she swung her arm in a side ways motion, she felt her rings come off of her finger. (Usually when ever Mrs. Connie would do any type of yard work she would leave her rings inside the house but not this time!) Mr. Bill, Mrs. Connie’s husband, had this ring made special for their wedding and the rather large diamond was from his late mother’s wedding ring, so you can imagine the pain they felt in not being able to find the lost rings!
The next day they purchased a small metal detector from a local store and tried their best to locate the rings…but they turned up empty handed. Their search for help led them to theringfinders.com and a member in the St. Augustine area. That member was not able to help them so Mr. Bill clicked on one of my stories and they decided to give me a call—and thankfully they did.
After meeting this very special couple and getting more specific details on how and where the rings were lost, I started my search. Mr. Bill had cut down the thick brush and grass and I was confident the rings were there, but my first pass of the target area turned up zip, zilch, nada! Again I figured I needed to expand the search area and sure enough I got a nice platinum signal, 20 feet from where she tossed the debris. There hidden in the long grass was Mrs. Connie’s lost diamond engagement ring! And then no more than four feet away was her wedding ring, just waiting to be found. What an honor it was to help such a lovely couple and to see the huge smiles on their faces. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help you and thank you for your generous reward! Lost Keys Found In Paihia Orchard (with some metal detector help)

Simon was collecting oranges in the orchard and didn’t realise until he got back to his car that his shorts had a car key-sized hole in the pocket.

A couple of days later he found me through TheRingFinders and I arranged to meet him onsite.

It was a huge area to scan, so I put my Search & Rescue tracking skills to work and retraced his meanderings in and around the trees – Made more interesting by the fact he’d been back the previous day for another look with a borrowed detector, which meant differentiating his original track from the fresher one. Good game!

I snaked my way through the trees following the two day old sign. Bruised leaves, broken stems or blades of grass under tension all reduced the search area to no more than a metre wide strip. These clues all led me to where he’d sought out the odd ripe fruit from random trees, retraced his steps, or just changed direction for no apparent reason, and right in the heart of the orchard where he’d finally filled the bag and turned to head back – were the keys, tucked under the grass.

It would have been a mammoth task to search the whole orchard without the advantage of being a tracker.

He was rapt, and more than a little impressed. Twenty minutes from getting out of the car, I was on my way home.

Sometimes, the eyes can be faster than the coil.

Gold Wedding Ring Lost in Surf at Newport Beach, CA. .. Found

John and Barbara were here in Newport Beach, CA., visiting from the UK. Actually they were celebrating their marriage. John had been in the ocean about knee deep with his granddaughter, lifting her over the waves. He didn’t feel his four day old gold wedding ring come off, but realized it missing within minutes of returning to the shore.
He was able to contact me after finding TheRingFinders on a internet search. We met at sunset while it was almost high tide about 3 hours after the loss. Our beaches vary as far as sand conditions are concerned and can change daily. This beach had been recently eroded with a lot of soft sand on the lower slope, which could just cause the ring to sink out of detection range.
I waited to start the search at the next lowest tide. Starting to searching too soon could make it difficult to retrieve a ring in the water with the waves surging. Sometimes you only get one chance to dig the target. If you miss the ring on the first attempt, it could sink out of detection depth.

After an hour it was approaching the lowest tide and I was in knee deep water with waves hitting me at my waist. My third signal of the search sounded good, but I had difficulty staying on the target. When I relocated the signal it took a little patience to wait for the best time between the surging waves to dig the target.

Boom! John’s 18k Gold wedding ring in the scoop. Returning to the house with the ring in my hand, I met John who hand a look of doubt on his face. I told him how difficult the surf conditions were and asked him if he thought there might be two gold rings out there? He said, no. Then I said, this must be yours.
John was overwhelmed and kept saying he couldn’t believe it was found.
I love helping people like John, especially when I can pull off a recovery like this.

Lost ring Sanford, Florida…..Found!

Shaunan called me on Friday and asked if I could possibly help her find a very special lost ring. She explained that Saturday night she was playing with her dog in the back yard and when she came back into the house, her ring was not on her finger. She said she was almost 100 percent positive that is where her ring came off. The lost ring was a gift from her parents when she started college and that was over 4 years ago!
When she realized her ring was not on her finger, she immediately went outside with a flashlight and began looking thru the thick grass. And after a couple of hours she gave up. The next day she looked again but still could not find her precious lost ring. Her father decided to help out and looked on the internet for someone to help and typed in « Metal Detecting Service in Sanford » and up came theringfinders.com web page and one of my recent stories.
Later that afternoon Shaunan showed me the area where she was playing with her dog and I set up four small flags and started grid searching. I was told the ring was silver so figured it would surely give me a good high tone and read in the silver range on my Whites DFX display. There were very few targets—some rather deep and one or two larger targets. After my first grid search of the 30 square foot area I decided to look the outer area over. Still no ring! I switched to my « Prospecting Mode » and researched the same area in a perpendicular direction. Soon I got a nice signal, really close to one of the deep large targets, and this one read like a pull tab/gold signal. Thinking it was probably a pull tab, I stuck my Garrett pro pointer down into the thick grass and there was Shaunan’s lost ring! You should have seen and heard Shaunan hooting and hollering for joy! It was a delight to behold the thrill and happiness in her voice and actions! Thanks for allowing me the pleasure of helping you get your special ring back….and thanks too for the generous reward.

Locating Rebar in Cement Decking .. Mission Viejo, CA.

I received a request from a swimming pool company. They wanted me to help them find the location of rebar that was in a recently poured cement decking. It seemed that somebody forgot to bond the rebar to a grounding system.

If I could locate the rebar it would save them from damaging the surface of the concrete plus the labor of tunneling in the wrong area.

I met Brian he showed me the area he needed me to work. It was fairly simple as my detector is set up to identify ferrous metals with a defined tone. I was also able to double check using my pinpointer because the rebar was less than 3” deep. Marking the location with painters tape, I was confident that it was a successful job.

Platinum ring lost while doing yard work returned, Denver Colorado

Easter Sunday morning Ben was preparing his backyard for the upcoming Sunday dinner and gathering. Games were played that afternoon and plenty of quality family time was had in the back yard. Soon after the festivities ben noticed that his platinum wedding band was missing. He and his wife Anna spent time searching the back yard visually but they had no luck finding his ring. Ben then borrowed a metal detector from a friend and searched the yard, once again luck was not with them. Anna went to her LinkIn account to get rid of some of her notifications and she noticed a notice from my profile of a work anniversary since we had worked together years ago. She contacted me stating their situation, we quickly formed a plan for me to search their yard as I was leaving on vacation in a couple of days.

When I arrived Ben showed me around the yard and explained what had happened the morning and early afternoon of his rings disappearance. I grabbed a few detectors from my truck and began my search pattern. On my first pass of the yard I heard a good signal from my metal detector, I looked down and there was the shinny outline of a ring hidden amongst the grass. I placed a screwdriver with its tip over the ring and went to get Ben. When I knocked on the door Ben was a bit taken aback by my quick return to the house. I told him to look at the blade end of the screw driver, it took him several seconds to see his ring laying in the grass. He was very happy to get his ring back and Anna was in tears. They had had a baby just six days prior so her emotions were running pretty high.

LOST WEDDING RING HALE KOA WAIKIKI FOUND

On April 10 2018 I was in class and got a call from Matt who just arrived today with his family and they are on vacation. He informs me that he lost his wedding ring while playing in the water with his beautiful daughter. I tell Matt to give me an Hour and a half because my detector is on the other side of the island.  In the meantime while I’m heading out to get my gear I called matt and asked him to pull up google maps and make me a map. I asked him to try and locate the spot where he believes the ring came off and draw a circle on the map to limit my search area. I asked if he could put me in the right area by narrowing my search site as it was 4:30pm and the sun was on its way down. Well, after much traffic I arrive and meet up with Matt. I get to the beach and gear up. After a few passes I get a great tone/reading. I look in my scoop and there it is Matts wedding. I turn to MATT who is looking on the shoreline and ask him  » What kind of wedding band? » Which I knew very well it’s his. He says « it’s a gold wedding band… did you find it? » I tell him to take a look in the scoop and the sheer JOY that came from his response « YES I CANT BELIVE IT! » was very comforting. As we were leaving BOTH very excited I asked MATT… So, what do you think your wife will say? He smiles and says she will be pleasantly surprised! Another recovery with a happy heart! Lost wedding ring in Provo, Utah: Found

Now this is a very unusual story. Today I was driving through Provo, and I saw a very old house. I didn’t know who lived there, but I knocked on the door and introduced myself to Zach, the man that answered. His home was built in 1885! Often old homes may have a few old coins in the yard, or maybe an old relic like an original key or a civil war-era bullet. I asked Zach for permission to use my metal detector in his yard to see if I could find an old relic or two. He was happy to give me permission. I didn’t find any old coins, but I did find a cool old pocket watch, and a man’s wedding ring. The ring wasn’t deep in the grass, so it looked like it had been dropped recently. I told Zach about the ring, and he told me it was his! He had lost it just a couple of weeks ago! He never thought to ask a Ring Finder to come help him find the ring, but one just knocked on his door! What are the odds???

I received an email today from James, who had lost his Gold ring in his garden, and wanted to know if I could help find it. I replied « Sure, I will call you later this afternoon », but didn’t hear back so I figured he was busy. I emailed again letting him know the phone# he gave din’t work, but still no reply during the day, so I figured I would just stop by his house after work, as it was 6 Minutes away!

I pulled up just seconds after he got home, and introduced myself, but I noticed a Gold ring on his hand and so I figured he had found it, but he said it was his spare! lol  He has several!

He showed me where he was repairing a PVC Drain pipe and water line, about a foot and a half down, and figured he lost it in the surrounding area, wood chips and bushes.

I got my AT-MAX with small coil and began scanning around the area, jacuzzi, bushes and then poked the coil down into the hole around the PVC pipe and got a signal. Not a clean 50’s but almost like a quarter signal on edge. I popped out my pinpointer and there was surely something metal in the mud a few inches down, and since it was clean dirt and PVC pipe, I had to dig it.

Sure enough, there it was, caked with dirt, but nice and shiny! Super nice guy and happy to have his « primary » ring back.

James was very happy that his wife had found me on TheRingFinders.com.

Lost engagement ring found in North Spokane

I always check my email for lost ring inquiries, and lately Ive been getting scam emails on my Ring Finders email. However, today after work I read Mellisa’s email about her lost engagement ring, that she had lost in her front yard over a week ago. Even in the email she sounded hopeless and thought the ring walked away. So after a few text’s and her getting off early from work we met up at her house. I grid searched the front yard twice, the side yard, the front strip of grass by the side walk and then I got on my hands and knees and dove into the small bushes by the front of the house. At that point I started asking other questions about if she knew she had it on before doing the yard work. This is usually when the ring search turns from a ring search and recovery to a closure search. I told Mellisa the ring was not in her front yard or anywhere else I had looked. I think at that point she gave up. To be honest so had I, but the small concrete drive between her yard and the neighbors gave me the idea to search the neighbors yard. I took one pass down the drive way side of the grass and found a penny. I turned up the yard and got a blast of a signal. Looking down in the grass I saw a shape. The sweet sweet shape of a lost ring. Pushing back the grass I revealed the ring and my face gave way to excitement of finding it. Mellisa who was watching me ran over and I handed her the lost ring. At the beginning of this ring search I told mellisa rings are sometimes lost and found in a place you might not expect. This was very true about Mellisa’s lost engagement ring.
