Ring Lost in Fire Pit at San Clemente Beach, CA. .. Found

Josh called me the morning after he lost his rose gold wedding ring. He had been at North Beach in San Clemente, CA. enjoying a fire on the beach with his family. Before leaving the beach he was putting out the fire by throwing sand onto burning embers. He felt the ring slip off his finger going into the fire pit.

I was sure that this would be a situation where we would need to use my sifting equipment to retrieve the ring. Josh had given great directions that made it easy to find the exact fire pit. After an hour an a half of sifting the 4 ft. square area the ring could not be found.

Next option was to use my metal detector to check the area outside the cement fire pit. The first 18” nearest the fire pit was congested with nails, other metal trash and the rebar reinforced cement fire pit which made it difficult to use my metal detector there. I took my sifting equipment to go through that sand. After a few minutes I located Josh’s rose gold wedding band. 

Josh met me on the beach twenty minutes after calling him and it was a pleasure to return his ring. He tried to apologize for giving me the wrong directions but I assured him that it’s normal to find these small items outside the location where they are thought to be lost. The most important thing is the ring is back where it belongs.

Lost Wedding Rings Found! – Milwaukee, WI

The evening of May 20th ended on a sad note for Milwaukee residents, Preston and Johannah St. John. Johannah’s wedding rings took flight into the night behind their new home, disappearing into the thick foliage. The means whereby the rings went airborne shall remain shrouded in mystery or just left to the imagination of the reader. Despite crawling on hands and knees, Preston and Johannah could not find their love tokens—the rings seemed lost forever.

A quick search on the Internet pointed Johannah to a fellow Ring Finder in the region. He contacted me with the details the next morning and after a quick phone call a search was arranged that evening.

As luck would have it, rain fell in torrents all day, turning the ground into a soggy mess. But just as I pulled into the St. John’s driveway the clouds seemed to sense the urgency of the hour, took pity on us all and turned their showers elsewhere. The search was made all the more challenging by the presence of iron trash and a large cast iron pipe buried in the ground. To ferret out the signals of small gold rings amidst a ferrous cacophony made me glad for my discerning XP Deus detector. Soon the first ring, a fine band, came to light. A half hour later and some 30 feet away, the solitaire similarly cried uncle.

I was making my way back to the car when Johannah appeared. Her body language and facial expression betrayed fast-fading hope. At first I played the part of a futile search but then her pained disappointment was too much for me. I opened my hand to reveal, first the solitaire, and then the band. Tears and a hug followed. Gotta love this hobby.

Thanks, Preston and Johannah, for letting me recover your rings! As for just how they took flight… that shall remain our secret.

Fish Slime, Slippery Rocks, and a Lost Wedding Ring Texas City Dike…Recovered by John Volek TRF -Houston

I was contacted by Pat, who wanted to know if would be possible for me to come out and help him find his lost wedding ring on the rock jetties in Texas City (Texas City Dike)

Pat reported he had been fishing on the rock jetties the previous night when he had lost his ring…Pat said he was helping a friend land a big fish…and during this process managed to slip on some slimy rocks and while putting his hands down to catch himself, his ring came off of his finder…Pat said he didn’t see exactly were the ring dropped, but he could get back to the exact spot.

Pat said he has marked the area…always important, and believed his ring had landed in a clearing in the rocks, made up of mostly smaller rocks and some smaller boulders.

This one seemed like a long shot, and once I arrived at the jetties and saw the conditions, it was definitely going to be a long shot to say the least!

I received a call from Joseph, who reported he had lost his wedding ring in a small lake in Rosenberg, Texas…

Joseph said a few days earlier he had been playing Frisbee golf at a park next to this particular lake… Joseph said, he had unfortunately lost his prize golf Frisbee, when an unexpected gust of wind carried it into the lake. Joseph said, he returned the following day with a long section of PVC pipe and a snorkeling mask hoping to probe the bottom of the lake and find his Frisbee…

Well we can see by the story being posted here, Joseph lost his wedding ring in his effort to rescue his Frisbee…

A lot of fishing gear targets needed to be cleared, and then a final sweep of the search area produced Joseph’s lost wedding ring…

Not everything went according to plan, but the end results were still good…check out the video to see some of the recovery highlights.

Cartier and Tiffany & Co. Rings Found in Medina! Silver, Palladium and 3 Golds… Multi Ring Recovery!

Got the call yesterday from Angela, an assistant to Lyn, who lost 3 rings playing with her dogs near her Medina home. After getting the necessary info, which included great photos of the location, I hurried out to find them. It was a high profile location, so time was of the essence!

Due to the great info I was provided, I thankfully found them with an hour or so. If you lose a ring, take pictures of the spot you were at, in the direction you think it flew off, this info is invaluable to a Ringfinder! Since they were unable to meet me there, it really helped to have these pictures so I could get to work finding the rings as soon as I arrived.

The rings were pretty far from the point she was throwing from, so Lyn must have a strong pitching arm! All were within 6 ft of each other.

A plain silver band, a neat Tiffany & Co. palladium ring, and a classic Trinity ring from Cartier… white, rose and yellow gold, it was a family heirloom so I was glad I could find them.

Another ring eaten by the volleyball courts!

It was meant to be – I was doing some work in Choctaw Oklahoma Friday and received a call from a gentleman that stated he had lost his wedding ring in a volleyball court a few days ago and could I help. I asked him where the court was, hoping it wasn’t a public area, and he stated that it was in Choctaw at a friends house. Wow! I was there in 5 minutes and found the ring in less than 10 minutes! He couldn’t be there at the time but the homeowner had let me search. I called the gentleman back to let him know I found it but I was needing to get back to my home in south Oklahoma City and he stated that he lived South also. Turns out he lives only 1 mile from me! It was meant to be indeed!

Earring Found In Middlebury Vermont

I got an email a few days ago from a young man going to Middlebury College. His girlfriend, also a student there, was out running on a path and lost one of her pearl stud earrings. These earrings had been given to her many years ago by her mother, so they meant a lot to her. She didn’t need any more stress at this time, because she is graduating in a few days and had lots of papers to write and finals to take. They both looked hard for the earring, but because of all the crushed white stones on the running path, it was nearly impossible to find.
I went down early this morning, met him there, and he showed me where the path was. He was so thoughtful, willing to stay and help and even got me some coffee. She was working hard on homework and couldn’t be there for the search. I knew he had some papers to write, so I went to work and told him I’d call when I found it.
The odds were against me. Finding a stud/post style earring is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, partly because of their shape and partly because there’s so little metal in them. They give off very faint signals. We were lucky she lost them in an area that wasn’t deep grass or brush. It started raining pretty hard, and after about an hour and many junk signals, I got a signal that was from an earring backer. The problem was it was the wrong backer. But shortly after I got another signal that gave the right numbers on the ID display. I bent down close and there was the pearl! I was so glad to find it. I emailed him a picture and told him I’d continue to look for the correct backer. Soon they both showed up, she was so excited. She also told me that the backer I found was the one that she had been using, probably why the earring fell out.
We had a nice visit after.

Lost Mens Tungsten Carbide Wedding Band Found At Cape Henlopen State Park In Lewes, Delaware

On 05/14/18, I received a text message as well as an email from Adam regarding the loss of his Tungsten Carbide Mens Wedding Band At Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware. Adam said that he had been camping over the weekend with his cub scout pack at the State Park and on Saturday 05/12/18 he had lost his wedding band. Adam said that he had been sitting when he took his ring off and placed it in his lap. Adam said that he stood up forgetting that his ring was in his lap and that it was lost in the sand. Adam also sent me a detailed map of the area of the lost ring. I called Adam at which time I told him that I would look for his ring for him and would let him know if I was able to locate it. I then responded to the location of the lost ring and began a grid search for it. After about five minutes of searching Adams lost ring was located and recovered. I took a picture of the ring in the sand and sent it to Adam by text. I asked Adam if the ring looked familiar he said « yes » and identified it as his lost ring. I then mailed the ring back to Adam which he received about a day later. Below is an email sent to me by Adam the day after he had gotten his ring safely returned.

Hi Alan,

I can’t thank you enough for finding my wedding ring. I thought I would never see it again when I left Cape Henlopen on Sunday. When I got to work on Monday I felt I needed to at least make a call to the park office and report I lost it, not that I expected anyone to ever find it, let alone turn it in. I can’t remember the exact search terms I used when I was searching for the park office website, but I came across one of your posts on theringfinders.com. After reading through a few more posts I felt there was a pretty good chance you could find it, if no one else had stumbled upon it in the meantime. An email, a text message, a phone call and a few hours later you found my ring. I thought, wow, that was too easy. Well, you are obviously good at what you do and I wish I had known about the website sooner. I will be sure to share my experience and promote the website, a true « ring » saver!

Lost White Gold Ring Found!! In Post Falls Idaho

Today was a day of metal detecting for me. I started off by diving in a lake looking for a wedding ring lost 2 years ago to which I didn’t find. After coming home and cleaning up my gear I wrote a lady back who asked if I would travel to Post Falls, Idaho for a ring search. After dinner my Family and I went to a newly discovered park near our house to play. I was swinging my Whites detector around the playground when Charlayne, the lady who wrote me from Post Falls, called. I asked a few questions and found out that she had lost her ring in the front yard or the back after placing it in her pocket with a hole at the bottom. She also told me that she had rented a metal detector and raked both yards with no luck. I said I would be right over. My family and I drove 32 minutes to reach her house. After putting on my gear and seeing a picture of the ring Charlayne left me to my work. Which was a short job. I made my way from the front steps to the mail box like Charlayne said she had done and found a small foil wrapping under a fresh dug hole. So I made a second pass on the other side back to the steps and then back down for a third pass. I was about half way to the mail box when WHAM!! A solid 13-14 vdi at depth of 0 inches rang up and my pinpointer showed me why well cared for grass hides rings the best. After taking a picture of the ring hidden in the grass I smiled at my wife who was watching me from the car. I then headed to the back of the house to find Charlayne, her face went from worried anticipation to fourth of July fire work happy. After I showed her the spot where her ring had fallen out of the hole in her pocket and hid from her for a week; we said our goodbyes and took her advice to have some ice cream at Rogers. Thanks for the suggestion Charlayne and for trusting in The Ring Finders to find what you lost.

Lost Diamond Ring in New Westminster, BC…Found!

Yesterday I got a call from a young man who needed my help to find his girlfriends 2 rings that she tossed out of his SUV while driving down the road. People are human, its true! They get mad and when they get mad in most cases rings go flying! I’ve had many calls over the years for these types of recoveries. I’d say most times I’m unsuccessful because of the locations I search are not metal detector friendly. « NEWS FLASH » (While writing this post the couple called me and said that the other ring was found in their home! She has no idea how it showed up there as she is certain she threw it out the window with the other ring…Makes me feel much better! I hate the thought of not finding what I’m looking for).

Well that makes it a happy ending! I have met so many nice people over the years doing what I do and I look forward to meeting many more!
