*** Carol is visiting Laguna Beach, CA. Her daughter and her went to the beach the day before returning to Utah.. She took her white gold diamond engagement ring off while applying sunscreen setting it on her towel. The rest of the story happens every day, she got distracted, forgetting the ring was there. She didn’t realize her ring was missing until she got to her car.

She returned to the location, spending over an hour of frantically searching for the ring. Someone passing by suggested that she search the internet for my contact information. I got the call taking time to ask a few questions and was able to meet her a half hour later. As we walked down a long set of stairs, she told me she knew it was a long shot but she wanted to make sure we at least tried to search for the ring. I told her if she can get me in the general location, we could find the ring.

As soon as I saw how positive she was about returning to same spot where they had been sitting, I knew this was going to be easy. I set up my metal detector and had the small white gold diamond engagement ring in the scoop a few minutes later. Metal detectors are a good tool for finding rings but the successful recovery has to be credited to Carol getting me to the general area.

She was more than grateful because she had already decided it was going to be impossible to find such a small item in the mass of sand on that beach. Another happy day for Carol and myself

Lost & Found Gold Chain and Gold Coin at Vancouver Park…

Imagine losing something so special that was a gift from your father, something that you’ve cherished for half of your life. I’m talking about a gold coin that his father wore for most of his life then gifted it to his son when he was 16 years old. Flashback seven years ago 2014 this young man lost the gold coin out of the setting on a school field, I found that it in a short period of time and was able to return his gold Mexican peso.

Now 2021 he loses both the coin and the gold chain which he took off before playing rugby to keep it safe he put it into a floppy hat in his bag. After playing in the hot sun for a while he ran over to his bag to grab the hat and put it on, forgetting his gold coin and chain was in the hat. After 30 minutes of running around the field he ran to the sideline and threw the hat towards his bag.

After the game he went to grab his gold coin and chain and realized it was in his hat, his first thought was it would’ve fallen out as soon as he grabbed it out of the bag. That was my thought as well, he’s searched all around but could not find it. He was a little embarrassed to call me for the second time to come out and look his gold coin but he gathered up the courage and gave me a call. After talking with him for a while I was excited to possibly be able to return this beautiful coin back to him for the 2nd time.

We met at the field I began my search near the tree where his bag was but did not find it anywhere near the tree, I knew my next step was to search the field and that was gonna be a big job as it could’ve fallen out of the hat while he was playing. But after asking a few more questions he told me that he had I can off his hat and threw it towards the sidelines after about 30 minutes of playing. This excited me with the thought of maybe the chain and coin got caught in the brim of his hat and when he threw it that’s when it came out…

You’re doing a great search and most likely an hour into the search not far from the area where he threw his hat I found his beautiful gold Mexican peso attached to his gold chain, I was so excited to be able to find this for the second time knowing how much it meant to this young man.

I had another surgery scheduled earlier that morning so I went off to do that one contacting him to let him know I was coming back to continue my search, I called him when I was there and said could you come and show me the area once again just to make sure I didn’t miss anything and that’s when I surprised him…

Lost Gold Ring at Davis Bay on the Sunshine Coast…Found!

My day job consists of mostly 13 hour days and it’s rare to get time off but luckily this week, I had two days off where I was able to recover two items for two very happy customers. The universe works in wonderful ways for this story because this couple were ending a beautiful 10 day vacation in the Sunshine Coast, unfortunately they lost a very special ring.

They went online and found TheRingFinders directory and gave me a call that evening, they told me they were returning back to Toronto the next day and luckily I was off work that day so we arranged to meet in at 12 noon at Davis Bay.

After a 3 hour wait at the ferry terminal, 40 minute ferry ride and a 40 minute drive, I arrived at Davis Bay, I heard the story about how the ring was lost and the couple showed me where they lost the ring on the beach, remember it’s a big beach and what seems to be a small area could always turn out to be an extremely large area and as you know it’s a game of inches and you have to go over the ring to find it. The difficulties of this search was that it wasn’t lost in the sand it was lost in fist size rocks, making it slippery and difficult to search the area properly.

After listening to their story and where they believe the ring came off I started my search, I knew I was under a bit of pressure because the sooner I could find this ring the sooner they can start getting ready to make their way back to Vancouver to fly out to Toronto that evening.

After approximately 40 minutes of searching I found his beautiful ring!  I was so relieved and happy to find it so quickly knowing that they could comfortably take a ferry back over to Vancouver and drive to the airport and catch their connecting flight to Toronto. Success!

Wedding band recovered in surf at Manasquan NJ by Dennis Burlingame

Got a call from fellow RingFinder Matty St Germain asking if I could go to Manasquan for a lost wedding band seeing he couldn’t. I called James and while at the beach he was in the water with his son throwing a football. While tossing the football, his ring flew off with it into the surf. I met him and he showed me the area he was in and I started hunting. Turns out I started out in to deep of water at first and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t find it. I had the area he was in. After awhile I thought about the tide change and him telling Matty he was only about 10 to 15 feet from shore. Being low tide when I starting the hunt I moved closer to the shore line and sure enough I found his ring. He was grateful I found it, he mentioned his wife wasn’t to happy about it. Glad I could save the day and know his wife will be happy again. Another happy ending.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring in the Sand at Monarch Bay Resort, Dana Point, CA.

If you lost your ring in the sand call  “Stan the Metal Detector Man” available now … Call or Text  .. 949-500-2136

**** Ann and Doug are from Chicago, IL. They were vacationing in Laguna Beach, CA. he lost his wedding ring.  They were enjoying the day at Monarch Bay Resort. After lunch they went out on the sand to take a walk near the water’s edge. In the middle of the beach Doug picked up a ball to throw it to Ann. His loose fitting gold wedding ring went flying off his finger into the soft dry sand. It disappeared immediately.

The beach attendants assisted them to search for the ring without any success. Ann and Doug had to leave the area because they had be in San Diego, CA. that evening. As they were driving the 70 miles, Ann found my contact information on line. She called me at 4:30pm as they were driving, telling me they had lost the ring about 2:30pm. She verbally explained what had happened and sent me some photos of the location of the general area of the loss. The internet and cellphones are awesome.

I have been on that beach several other times but this time I could not get through the security gate. Just a little inconvenience, which meant I’d have to walk in about 3/4 of a mile. When I got to the beach and lined up with the landmarks Ann had given me, I found some rake marks on the sand. These had to be where they searched couple hours before. Starting my grid search I covered the whole marked off spot. Now I began a new grid area to the south. On the third 25ft. line got my first signal and only signal. Yes, it was Doug’s gold wedding band, out in the middle of nowhere.

I contacted them with the good news. We discussed the best way to return the ring as mailing it was not proving to be the best option. They could not be returning to Chicago for several days. After discussing several ideas, I realized how important this ring was to Doug and I volunteered to deliver it to him at their hotel in San Diego. I was free and it wasn’t that much trouble, so I made the drive and met the both of them before 9pm. I do enjoy meeting the people I had the pleasure to help, that’s the bonus for me.

Another happy day in the life of a Ring Finder and then people we are able to help.

Newlywed Groom Looses Wedding Ring On Emerald Isle Beach. Found By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

Ashley & Will married on the Emerald Isle, North Carolina beach Monday.  Three days later, Will was throwing a football on the beach to Ashley’s brother.  Within minutes he noticed his ring was gone and Ashley pleaded on a local Facebook page for someone with a metal detector.  Many had mentioned Steven Ray of Crystal Coast Ring Finders and after Ashley called, I came out as soon as possible to begin the search in the dark.  The couple had marked the search area very well for me and this aided in finding Will’s new ring quickly.

Lost Wedding Band Weekapaug Inn Beach, Westerly, Rhode Island… Found!

  • from Westerly (Rhode Island, United States)

Disaster struck when Linda’s son lost his wedding band at the beach near the Weekapaug Inn, Westerly, Rhode Island. The ring was placed on a flipflop while the family enjoyed a sunny weekend at the beach until Linda’s son sprang to action when help with a medical emergency. During a hasty grab for his footwear, the wedding band was dropped into the sand. Due to the circumstances, there was no time to search the sand for a lost ring. Linda told the beach workers what happened and was provided with my contact information. We connected about a week later. The day after Linda contacted me, I planned my trip to search the area where the gold wedding band was lost. It’s not very often I do a search based on a phone explanation, but Linda had solid points of reference based on where they were sitting, so I thought it was worth a try. I arrived and mapped out the area based on our phone call. As I began metal detecting for gold, a couple tried to sit in the location where the son lost track of his gold band. This situation is pretty standard – crowds of people on a beautiful weekend can cause issues with accessing the spot. These beach-goers were kind enough to move over a couple of spaces and let me search for the lost gold band.

The first signal from my metal detector (XP Deus) found gold buried in the sand. The locals applauded, and we chatted briefly about my big find. After seeing the wedding date inscribed in the lost ring, I scurried back to my beach chair and made the Facetime call to share the good news with Linda. She reluctantly answered my call – if a number called me Facetime, and I didn’t recognize it, I would be weirded out too! We eventually got past the awkward discussion, and I broke the news. Linda was planning a trip back to the area the following weekend, so we met at Lilian’s in Niantic for the ring return.

Lost Wedding Band Found Ocean City NJ by Ring Finders South Jersey

Lost a ring?

Don’t wait to call!

215-850-0188

I received a message on my Ring Finders South Jersey Facebook page from Dorothy who asked if I could help find a wedding ring that was lost in Ocean City, NJ earlier today. The ring belongs to her friend Ryan’s father.  I spoke with Ryan and he told me how his father Jim lost his wedding band while out in the waves during high tide.  We planned to meet during low tide to give us the best chance at finding it.  After a thorough grid search of the area did not produce the ring, I expanded the search out a little farther.  It was a few minutes later that I heard the tone and dug down approximately 10 inches in the sand.  It was the ring!  The ring that Jim has not taken off his hand since 1974, the year he married his wife.  It was pure joy when the ring was found and able to be put back where it belongs.

Cherished wedding band recovered in Long Branch NJ by Dennis Burlingame

I got a text from Alexandra in the evening asking if I could help locating her husband Dennis’ wedding band. I called her and asked what happened. While enjoying the day at the beach, Dennis went in for a swim and felt his wedding band slide off his finger while out in chest deep water. He was devastated, the ring ment so much to him, representing his marriage. Marry only 10 years but was with Alexandra for 26. Dennis was recently in the hospital and being sick had lost weight so the ring was alittle big on him now. Even while in the hospital the ring ment so much they wouldn’t let anyone take it off. Inside the ring was written in Hebrew  » I am my beloved and my beloved in mine  » I went down the next day at low tide and tried for 2 hours but couldn’t find it. I told them I’d be back the next day to try one more time. Went back down the next day and it was going on another 2 hours when I finally got a good signal. Dennis was with me when I heard the signal and with the waves bouncing us up and down, I dug 3 times before I could get it in the scoop and sure enough it was his ring. He was so excited I was afraid he’d drop it so I took it and started walking towards the beach and Alexandra was walking down to meet me, not knowing I found it. I walked up and said  I’m done I can’t do this anymore and reached out and handed her the ring . She couldn’t believe it. When Dennis came they just stood there and hugged each other for minutes and the people on the beach were clapping and cheering. One of the best recovery I’ve done in a long time. I’m so happy to reunite them with his ring.
